I'm considering the virtue Wood-Elf Magic in order to get Stinging Arrow. What do the rest of you think of this?
And aside from our extra virtue we're leveling to three, right?

And yes.
Hiya, thanks for the invite.
I was wondering if I could start with a few shadow points to represent him recently getting back on his feet through theft? The halfling starting equipment is pretty generous.

Checking in. Thanks for letting me join. As mentioned in recruitment, I've still got one open 'known region.' If there is something that makes sense game or party wise let me know. Other regions she currently has the bonuses for are mostly around SW Mirkwood since that is where she's been on the run and escaping from.

Happy to be here!
Gomedbo, I'd recommend against starting with Shadow points. The way I understand it, SPs accumulate through the game, and, at one point they -never- go away. They just build and build and it's a constant war between getting them and spending your Fellowship phase NOT getting extra candy and just doing a >get rid of shadow points< phase, which may or may not work.
IMHO. YMMV. =)
True, but I kind of wanted to play with the mechanic, its interesting with the madness and shadow weaknesses. I also like the idea for RP reasons, his experience in captivity somehow giving Sauron a greater hold on him, corrupting him perhaps irrevocably.
Treasure Hunter reduces the shadow point gain from 3 to 1 for theft, and there's a wisdom save. I could roll the save maybe. For Gom it would take 16 normal shadow points before a permanent one would be possible.

OK Players
Rookies, go ahead an introduce yourselves into Gameplay. We're in Fellowship Phase, so the players are running the story.
We're going to restart in April of the following year that I cannot remember right now, but it's 5.5 years after the Battle of Five Armies. We will begin in the Easterly Inn that is run by some hobbits described in Gameplay. So, make your way to the Inn before then and get to know one another.
The map of where the inn is in relation to everything is here on Page 11
I'll be writing Malaric out of the story, because he's not needed.
Depending on the number of posts this weekend, we could restart this Sunday or next weekend. Meaning, the more posts that there are of character development, the faster that we restart.
cheers

Great intro posts. Feel free to RP the hobbit owners and typical customers of Beornings and dwarves and PCs. They’re described in gameplay.
I’ve got more work tonight so don’t wait for me.

Mmmmmmmmmm. I'm really starting to get a good feel for this character.
Basically, it's well known that the Great One, Robert E Howard, corresponded much with H P Lovecraft, and their works heavily influenced each other. I've always thought that they must have at least rubbed elbows with Tolkien, as they all lived at about the same time. I mean, I see a lot of REH in Aragorn, so I'll just be taking a more Howard-esque take on things. =)
(Confound the character all but writes itself! The compulsion to just starting writing a full adventure is overwhelming. =)

I’ve been working all weekend. Think I’ll kick off next weekend. So go adventure
Be back to the INn by Friday and April.
Enjoy fellowship phase

"Foresight of their Kindred" looks good for a Dunedain virtue.
And honestly, do you see Krogen healing or knowing more?

leaning towards either that one or Dauntless Guardians. As far as i see Korgan i think he could lean more towards knowledge but thought i would feel out the partys thoughts

Anyone else want to chime in?

Also, is the silver we have totaled someplace? I'm not sure what we should be at.
Just to field this question, it looks like the party got a total of 90 s. 50 (or 100 in goods) from the travelling merchant that was rescued, and 40 from Dody, the innkeeper.
Hence, one idea that might be floated, is that, perhaps, it might be possible for the new players to gain a corresponding amount, but only if they wrote a nice story/interlude explaining where it came from.
Just brainstorming here, not being pushy. =-)

Well. I did give the rookies the ability to sell their starting equipment at 100% value and purchase what they want.
I didn't give that advantage to the veterans.
Amalina, sorry I wanted to interact up there but didnt have a chance for a lengthy writeup..will try to produce something before I hit the hay today.

No worries. I figured you were busy and decided to play up her own lack of confidence and fears of becoming too paranoid. But her wolfhound on the other hand might still have suspicions. :)

Hey players!
Here we go. I just started the next adventure post. A few things:
1. Please feel free to role-play the finish for your Winter Fellowship Phase. Just please, identify the post differently or spoiler it.
2. I need you to assign yourselves a role in the party. Descriptions of their purpose are in the Campaign Info tab.
Guide –
Scout –
Hunter –
Look-out –
3. For the next 5 weeks (so until March), I'm starting to travel on business during the week. So during the week, my posts will be random if at all. I'll do big posts on the weekend.
I would greatly appreciate if you post early and often to role-play the story and maintain the momentum of the game.
I've spoilered a lot of information about the scene, so you can drag out the conversation all week.
cheers

Is there only 1 character per role?

I guess we could take two to give advantage to the rolls.

Was curious about this myself. I was able to find in the Player's Guide, if you have two in a role, you select a 'Lead' Scout, Guide, etc. and they make the role with Advantage since the other person is basically performing a Help action.
Gom probably makes sense as a look-out, lead or backup.

4. Bury the bodies and attempt to pursue the orcs
5. Bury the bodies and take the personal effects to Beorn
6. Take the bodies to Beorn

Thorgrim, I just realized that you are a Beorning! You automatically, make this check.
And, you vote for 6. I'm sorry, I would have been more specific , since you're a Beorning. For example, you also automatically make the check to recognise one of the dead men as Merovech the Mighty, one of the first warriors to pledge allegiance to Beorn. Merovech was one of Beorn’s must trusted allies. You met him the evening at Beorn’s House. Merovech’s duty was to travel from village to village, hearing cases and resolving disputes. Furthermore, in cases of serious crimes, it was Merovech’s duty to bring the accused to Beorn for justice.
Basically, as a Beorning, you need to see Beorn, immediately.
Gom wouldnt want to touch or deal with the bodies at all, so that leaves 1 and 2...in that order.

Ah! Yes, that...that would seem appropriate.
Well alrighty then!
* Saltmarsh *
With 3 voting to go to Beorn's Hall, that's majority, even though one vote was coerced.
I've put this week's post up. It provides several stages of RP (which are all important and sum to what Beorn decides), so enjoy the week.
I can post the rest of today, but then it'll probably be Saturday before I can post again. Unless you've a quick question in Discussion.
cheers
