Male Human Barbarian (Outlander- Zealot of Saxwyn)(CN)/3, HP 35/39: , AC: 16 , Saves: STR +6 CON +6, Initiative: +2, Passive Perception: 14: Rage Remaining 1/2

Round 3, Rage 2/10

Hack moves forward and attacks the next kobold with his Greataxe.

GA Att: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
GA Dam: 1d12 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11

Male Human Varient Cleric of Light 2 , HP: 17/17 , AC: 16/18 with Shield , Saves are Con +4, Wis +5, Cha +4, Passive Insight 15 , Passive Perception 15 , Spell DC: 13

Pleased at the efficiency of his team, Rurik moves up a but, trying to get another kobold in sight. If so, he'll call upon Sarenrae's holy flames to purge the infidel.

Sacred Flame! DC 13: 1d8 ⇒ 1

Wheee, so worth!

Female Tiefling Warlock 2 | AC 13 | Init +2 | HP 17/17 | Saves: STR -1 DEX +2 CON +2 INT +2 WIS +2 CHA +6 | Passive Perception 10/14 | Spell Slots 2/2 | Temp HP: 5/5

Vakase fires another eldritch blast at the kobold, feeling she's on a hot streak.

Eldritch Blast: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Eldritch Blast Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Encounter Map

Vakase fires another eldritch blast at the nearest kobold archer.
Davin takes aim and fires another arrow at the kobold. This kills the kobold fighting Hack.
Kara throws more fire at the nearest living one. Or the nearest dead one, if no more are living. The firebolt scorches the kobold with the bow.
Rurik calls on the flames of the Sun Goddess! 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 and they burn the kobold, but only a little.
Kartoss tries to leap over Hack and the kobold...but fail[because the ceiling here is 5'.

Round 3
Hack finishes what Rurik started and he leaps forward and cuts down the puny Kobold.
Kobolds drop their weapons and begin pleading in their strange tongue.
Vakase
Davin
Kara
Rurik
Kartoss

[ooc] Combat is nominally over...the remaining two kobolds have surrendered. Does anyone speak Draconic? [/b]

Davin moves forward until he can see their foe, then ties them up before the group attempts to interrogate them.

Sorry Davin does not speak draconic, but I am sure he is learning some interesting Halfling!!!

Wood Elf Monk 2 Max HP 17 | HD 2d8 | AC 16 | Proficiency Bonus +2 | Initiative +3 | Saves: STR: +2; Dex +5; Con +2; Int +1; Wis +3; Cha +1

Or at least one interesting halfing.

*wiiink* ;-D
Of note, I don't speak Draconic because the Criminal background doesn't give any bonus languages. We've been cheated I tells ya!
Mind you, Kartoss, the Outlander Background gives you one bonus Language, so you could speak Draconic, if you wanted to. Hack, same thing. Humans get Common and one more, so Outlander adds another one. If one of you wanna step up, we're not gonna stop you. =)

Female Tiefling Warlock 2 | AC 13 | Init +2 | HP 17/17 | Saves: STR -1 DEX +2 CON +2 INT +2 WIS +2 CHA +6 | Passive Perception 10/14 | Spell Slots 2/2 | Temp HP: 5/5

I knew I should have taken Draconic instead of Primordial. :-/

Male Human Varient Cleric of Light 2 , HP: 17/17 , AC: 16/18 with Shield , Saves are Con +4, Wis +5, Cha +4, Passive Insight 15 , Passive Perception 15 , Spell DC: 13

Rurik looks confused at the Kobold gibbering, before looking to the others to see if they understand what is being said...

No draconic here.

Wood Elf Monk 2 Max HP 17 | HD 2d8 | AC 16 | Proficiency Bonus +2 | Initiative +3 | Saves: STR: +2; Dex +5; Con +2; Int +1; Wis +3; Cha +1

I did forget I had a bonus language, but I think it would be bad form to go "I will take that!".

Btw, backgrounds are pretty customizable.

Meh. This ain't GM Niles' first day at the rodeo. If you asked, I bet he'd be cool with it.
Also, GM Niles _hates_ it when parties stall out, so right now I bet he'd be agreeable to anything short of a Limited Wish if it meant we got back on track. =) Jus' sayin'. ^_^

Female Tiefling Warlock 2 | AC 13 | Init +2 | HP 17/17 | Saves: STR -1 DEX +2 CON +2 INT +2 WIS +2 CHA +6 | Passive Perception 10/14 | Spell Slots 2/2 | Temp HP: 5/5

If nobody else wants to jump and if GM Niles is agreeable I can swap Primordial for Draconic. Really nothing in Vakase's background that says it has to be Primordial and I'm guessing I won't have much use for it in this campaign aside from flavor.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Human Varient Cleric of Light 2 , HP: 17/17 , AC: 16/18 with Shield , Saves are Con +4, Wis +5, Cha +4, Passive Insight 15 , Passive Perception 15 , Spell DC: 13

Im still chuckling over the fact that in a game named Dragons Demand, none of us can speak with dragons... I guess they are going to demand we get Rosetta Stone.

Encounter Map

LOL@Rurik

If you had a previously unchosen language you can indeed decide now that it's draconic...it'll be handy for the entire campaign. I'll assume that's what Kartoss does.

The kobolds are pleading for their lives and desperately trying to get you to believe that the one that died last was responsible for everything up to and including whatever you thought they might have done.

The kobolds look plaintively at the party.

No kills. No hurts. they speak a little common tongue.

Draconic:

"Why shouldn't we?"

Encounter Map

The kobolds look confused that someone spoke in their language. They respond in Draconic. For expansion of play, assume now that Kartoss is translating both sides responses so that others can speak with the captives

Ssesserak made us dig. The human came and Ssesserak made us dig and then the wall fell on the human. It was an accident. Ssesserak made us. Ssesserak said human Hunclay wanted to knock down big tower. We dig and big tower falls down. We show you special way out of tunnel?

Wait a secend, did he jes say the wizard dunno like his own tower, so's he bought off a few kobolds ta sabatoge the foundation? Asks Rurik, his brow furrowed in thought. If'n that was the case, why did he git caught ina rockslide? Youd athunk he'da been somewheres safe...

Kara stares at Rurik and does a double-blink. "That appears to be what he said, which makes...no sense.

Should...should we just bring the body -and- the kobolds back and see if any of this makes sense to our betters?"

"We may as well. They'll want to know for certain Hunclay's unfortunate fate."

Encounter Map

Point of interest: This was NOT Hunclay's tower. This was a long abandoned tower that the residents treated as cursed.

The kobolds really don't want to go above to "Human lands" but they aren't willing to resist violently (and die). They respond to Kartoss that if let go they will take the tunnel back to their tribe and never come back to "Human lands".

"Pssshhyeah. Like that'll happen. You know the only way you can make sure these kobolds aren't terrorizing some poor farmer tomorrow? Here's a hint: It involves me. And some fire. I'll let you connect the dots I just subtly threw out there.

Oh, and anything less and you're _definitely_ committing some more peons to death. But, y'know, your call."

"Well I suggest we see where this path might take us. It seems strange that the wizard would be down here, and even stranger that he would have hired kobolds to bring this old tower down. Something is just not adding up! So lets follow these fellows here home and see if their boss can tell us anything. An hon...easy on the fire for now. We will get time soon, I am sure."

Davin heads down the hallway to the room at the end and looks around.

I do not think anyone has been here yet have they??

Draconic:

Wood Elf Monk 2 Max HP 17 | HD 2d8 | AC 16 | Proficiency Bonus +2 | Initiative +3 | Saves: STR: +2; Dex +5; Con +2; Int +1; Wis +3; Cha +1

I am fine with letting them go. They won't bring me glory!

Davin was heading down that way.

Encounter Map

Been a real busy week at work.

The kobolds nod at Kartoss, and then glance fearfully at Kara.

They'll scamper off towards area A15 and then through the hole and eventually out of the cave structure if no one keeps them, but they pointedly aren't going to fight back unless attacked.

Searching Area A16 reveals 2d20 ⇒ (11, 3) = 14 worth of loose coins and 1d4 ⇒ 1 healing potion(s) amid the furry nests.

Is the plan to just follow the kobolds or are you going to claim your 500GP reward from the Baroness?

Male Human Barbarian (Outlander- Zealot of Saxwyn)(CN)/3, HP 35/39: , AC: 16 , Saves: STR +6 CON +6, Initiative: +2, Passive Perception: 14: Rage Remaining 1/2

Well, are we after the louts? I am thinkin' we collect that reward now.

When the kobolds glance at her, she gives them a quick wink and a nod.

"Meh. I'd like to go after them and burn their homes, in which they had taken comfort and succor their entire lives, down around them so they can find that the objects that had brought them safety and security for so long are, in the end, the instruments of their undoings...

or we could get money now!

Eh. Either way."

Davin looks down at the halfling and laughs.

"You are a scary once that's for sure! Lets keep it reeled in for now and go get our money. Who knows, maybe the Mayor will have something for you to burn!"

He grabs the girl's hands and twirls her about and heads back towards the surface with the body of the dead wizard.

Hmm, I dunna think it be best ta burninate the person payin yer fees. Maybe she'll have anutter job fer us...? states Rurik quickly, trying to divert the conversation away from burning a populated area.

"Control your pet psycho" says Kartoss to Davin before turning and heading towards the way they got down into the tunnels.

Male Human Barbarian (Outlander- Zealot of Saxwyn)(CN)/3, HP 35/39: , AC: 16 , Saves: STR +6 CON +6, Initiative: +2, Passive Perception: 14: Rage Remaining 1/2

To the mayor it is. Let's ge outta this hole.

Hack sheathes his axe on his back and follows Davin and Kartoss to the surface.

Encounter Map

The trip back to the surface is a relatively easy one. You easily recall how to climb back up the broken tower and then back down the rubble. At the bottom, in the near 48 hours that have past, there are no waiting townsfolk as most assumed you all died in the rubble. However, your two friendly neighborhood guards stand watch.

The female guard, Letha Mulle, elbows the male, Varyl Hodd Hey look! They've made it back!

The man says Well. I'll be damned. We thought you all were goners. The Baroness said to wait for one more day and then give you up for dead. I bet she would really want to talk to you all right now.

Deputy Mulle says Well? What did you find??

Did you see a colossal ball of flame engulf the surrounding countryside, consuming all within it's fiery embrace making friend and foe alike know the true meaning of misery and anguish as the universe itself cried out in bitterness and grief that so puissant a friend and abettor of calefaction was felled by a mortal without claim or right that, in their final moments, looked back with sublime regret that they caused the death of an exalted force of nature?

No? Then I'M NOT DEAD!

Whatevs. Hells ya lets go see the old bitty. A bet she has some l33t adult beverages for the slaking."

"Easy there darling...we don't want to scare the locals. We made it back and have information for the mayor. Could you please take us to her. Thanks!"

Davin breaths in a clean, crisp air and stands enjoying the feeling of the sun upon his body.

Rurik chuckles as Davin calms the pyromaniac Halfling, not wanting to join his voice into that chorus, lest she blow her top. We found a great many things, an we took care o'all of'em. Some things we might want ta tell the Baroness first so she kin decide how ta handle things

Male Human Barbarian (Outlander- Zealot of Saxwyn)(CN)/3, HP 35/39: , AC: 16 , Saves: STR +6 CON +6, Initiative: +2, Passive Perception: 14: Rage Remaining 1/2

Encounter Map

Mulle and Hodd seem to pout that they aren't told what riches and dangers you faced down in the Cursed Tower. However, they do as they were told and escort you to the Baroness' manse.

Once inside, you are quickly escorted by the two hapless deputies to a small but efficient looking office. Inside, Lady Origena Devy sits behind a desk with a writing utensil in hand. Nearby, her son Arnholde Devy idly toys with a book that you can tell he really isn't interested in reading.

The Baroness curtly dispatches the Deputies and then her son.

Ok Adventurers. What caused this mess?
