As the booming voice booms out with its booming voice of boomingness, Kara stays perfectly still, secretly glad that she did not, in fact, burn the door down.

Rurik then looks around as best he can, "failing" to remember to close the door.


Davin places his hand on Kara's shoulder and gives it a squeeze.

"WHAHA!" Kara jumps three feet and let's out a loud *squeek* when Davon puts his hand on her, but the flame that leaps to her hand is extinguished just in time to not light his crotch on fire...which most people find inconvenient.

"Oh! Um, yeah, ya. Tot-totally. But we're only doing this because I'm so very brave and not at all afraid of the big scary, blood-curdling disembodied voice that is going to pluck out our nibbly bits and devour them slowly.

Rurik, Hack and Davin enter the room. Rurik asks the air a question, to which there is no immediate response. Vakase comes up from behind and meets with Kara who is reciting poetry while Kartoss could care less and is twirling his hair in a "very masculine" way.

A few seconds after all this, a rapid series of clicks is heard in the room.

Incorrect the voice booms as the floor gives way

Dex Rurik: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Dex Davin: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Dex Hack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Rurik and Davin manage to scramble aside but poor Hack drops 10 feet into the pit trap!

Hack takes 1d10 ⇒ 7 damage from the fall.

You hear in your mind the Ghostly voice of the Prisoner. Good Baron Sarvo wills it!

Rurik leaps back, frowning over such a rude reaction. Then looks around quickly, partially confused by the voices he hears. Whispering to himself, he mutters Sarenrae bless me, an ye be using those ah helped ta aid us. before he calls out to the disembodied voice, Good Baron Sarvo wills it! He wills that we check on his tower, ye hear! Then he turns to the others and shrugs sheepishly.

For the sake of moving us along, I'm going to assume you closed the western door before you said that

You may pass. the voice booms and the eastern door swings open.

I'm handwaving all the climb checks to enter/exit the pit and make it to the next room.

The party enters the next room.

A single iron lever protrudes from the wall next to the door in this otherwise empty chamber's west wall. To the east, a ten-foot-wide hallway curves to the north.

Directly in front of the hallway a four-armed metal construct blocks access to the eastern corridor. This clockwork servant stands on three jointed legs. A large, metallic key floats in the air next to the clockwork. A moment after the the heroes enter the room, the construct whirs to life and speaks in a tinny voice:
"Please present the crest for passage."

Vakase steps up, looking as menacingly at the construct as she can. With her eyes glowing and fangs bared she yells to it.

"How about we make a deal? You forget about the crest and just let us pass, and we don't take you apart? As you can see, we outnumber you."

"And we're really itching to take something apart right now." she snarls.

Davin will retrace the parties steps and gather up the crest and bring it back.

"W00t! Field trip!" Kara yells as her short legs scurry after Davin. She gets out a strip of jerky from her pouch and chomps on it noisily as she talks. Oh, yeah, there is talking.
"Hey, did I ever tell you of the time Shiela totally said that I talk too much? Like, it was during our eleventeith year of sorcery school. We were the fighting tigers! But it was kinda dum 'cause none of us were powerful enough to summon tigers yet so they really should've called us the fighting eagles or the fighting giant ants or or the fighting larger-than- giant-not-not-as-big-as-an-actual-giant-giant-giant-smaller-giant-fighting centipedes....."

Kara does her duty to keep up Davin's spirits since he won't be able to talk while carrying the heavy thing on his own so she keeps up a running monologue the. entire. way.

Davin smiles as the halfling tells him a variety of stories and jokes making the journey pass by a little quicker.

On the return trip, the unbalanced weight of the crest causes Davin to lose his balance while crossing the ledge by the green goo (oh no!!!)

Actually Davin the DC was 7 so you are good.

Davin approaches the Golem with the upraised Crest and without a sound it moves aside. The curious floating key moves with it.

Arcana DC14:
It's possible and likely that the key is being held by an Unseen Servant spell and it might also likely be used to wind the clockwork workings of the Servant.

The Heroes turn the corner to see a heavy iron door at the end of the short corridor. The Crest of the Canticlure family is on the door.

Investigation DC10:
The door isn't trapped, but it is very well locked. There is a spot for a key, or someone who is well disposed to picking locks could try that.

Vakase stops to examine the door, peering into the keyhole and looking back toward the golem and the floating key.

"I don't see any traps. That's a good sign. Looks like the door's locked, and it's about the right size for that floating key. Or we could try smashing it."

Kara stands under the key and start jumping up and down. Alas, even her best efforts can't get her above a normal human's head.

"Nah just...urrrrgh....I got dis just....oorph...gimme a sec....blah!"

She keeps trying, tho.


Davin reaches down and, placing his hands on the halfling's waist, lifts her up to get the key.

"There you go sweets. Now lets see this key-lock love you described."

Kara precociously snatches the key and is rewarded with a whirring and clanking from the Clockwork Servant. However, it doesn't move.

The key fits the slot in the door and it opens to reveal.

An area along the south wall is enclosed in a cage of thick iron bars that extend from floor to ceiling. Within the enclosures it seven black iron chests. To the north, the stone wall has collapsed, revealing a rough-hewn tunnel.

She bows her head and sobs softly into the cold steel ba--

"So, do you think I could squeeze through them?" she cheerfully asks Vakase, standing by her knee.

The bars are made of 1.5 inch unflinching metal. It would take someone of incredible nigh magical strength to bend them. The bars are also set mere inches apart, so Kara's attempt to squeeze would be in vain.

Vakase, your Raven is alerted to something lurking in the tunnel. It caws loudly.
