Yeah, I was to, but sending a bunch of 1st level characters up against enhanced 3rd level rogues and sorcerer's was a bit much, even if they were goblins. Especially teleporting goblin rogues with sneak attack.

That's ok, I resurrected him again for another game, and he's doing just fine. Tough stuff on occasion, but the GM doesn't put out CR's 3 higher than the party (at least not at first level, LOL).

But I think I'll take the other game down, if & when Cale comes back, I'm sure he'll PM me, and I'll try to fit him into a different game at that time. Hopefully he'll come back.

All right, then! Anybody interested in figuring out if and how our characters might have met? Lingfeng is a wanderer who loves to stick her nose into any trouble that she can find, so it'd be easy to figure out how any of you might have met her.

As for what Lingfeng is doing in Riku'Osui, that's simple. If it's a hive of scum and villany, where dishonor stands open on the street corners, then she has undoubtedly come here to find problems to solve. She does fancy herself a xia, after all; righting wrongs and generally making a nuisance of herself is her raison d'etre.

This sleazy seaside village would look like a land of opportunity to her. ;)

Alias should be all up and ready to go. In the interest of full disclosure: I did get the impression from the recruitment that there may be some gp spending limit that I was not aware of. I did use most of my starting cash to purchase Effortless Lace (2500 gp) which is what is allowing me to use weapon finesse with the katana. If that is against the limits in gp spending then let me know and I can shuffle my spending.

As for character interactions: Dunja spent the majority of her life as a performer in a travelling show. I don't imagine it would be to difficult for two wanderers to cross paths. Alternatively: Dunja is now a wandering warrior (or at least is trying to be) but is probably not as worldly as someone who has dedicated their lives to fighting. That's another potential angle to introduce other characters.

I'm also open to suggestions.

Well, it's actually a technicality in that it's not a weapon in and of it's self. Per the core guidelines, you shouldn't spend more than 25% on weapons, 25% on defense, and 50% on magic items. In this particular case, you've spent 83% on one magical item. One which only lets you use a Katana instead of a Wakizashi, which would be one die smaller. So, in other words, it's a suboptimal thing done for 'pizazz' which is why I didn't say anything earlier.

In other words, I usually don't get hung up on people spending inappropriately for something that's not as much mechanical as it is story driven. If that makes sense.

It does and I'm glad to hear it. It basically came down to a 2500 gp tax to play a dex-built Sword Saint and retain the use of all of the abilities. Otherwise I'd have to run around with a wakizashi like you said. I still might have to if I ever lose my current weapon, but that's a bridge I'll cross when I get to it.

I'm happy to know as many or as few of folks as everyone wants to hammer out. Yanyeeku would pretty much be around for the same reason he ends up anywhere; either he came with someone or just happened to wander into it. He is a sleepy eyed opportunist with a heart of gold who constantly fiddles with his ruan. (In a socially acceptable way ;p)


I would suggest it might be worthwhile to speed things up if everyone had been hired on as guards for a rice shipment. That would give people a chance to have met without having to work out detailed interactions about how long they knew each other.

I'm just trying to establish how the bonuses stack (the form gives +10 bonus, the spell gives +10 and then the feat gives +10 for the act of disguising myself as someone specific) as far as if I have more than one up, if I fail to convince someone I am someone specific do I still have a higher bonus for them to not realize I am kistune, etc. Just looking for your impressions.

Kitsune Form Gives +10 Racial Bonus, but only to appear human.

Disguise Self gives an untyped bonus, but one that can be bypassed with a will save.

Realistic Likeness is a +10 Circumstance.

So, they all stack, but, apply in different ways.

Assuming you had a +5 disguise, and took 10, you'd have the following DCs to appear as Mi'Zou the Human Drunk:

45 : That's not Mi'Zou, that's not even a human, it's a Kitsune in disguise!
35 : That's not Mi'Zou, it's someone pretending to be Mi'Zou
34 or less : That's Mi'Zou!

All numbers above would reduce by 10 if the person made a will save vs the spell.

If you're trying to pretend to be a non-human (like an Onikakun or a Nagaji, you start out pretending to be human, then pretend to be the other, and the bonuses to appear human don't count. So they have an easy time seeing through the Onikikun part, but then have to penetrate the human guise to see the Kitsune).

Just a quick update on my status:
