Dunja has dropped out. Is everyone else having fun? I know the games been a bit slow lately, part of that was a major RL issue in December for me, then the holidays compounded it.
Naravash Avernus
Well, even though we haven't a combat since he's joined, I'm enjoying Avernus more than I was Kasani. Given the valley we just walked through though, I'm glad he hasn't been tested.
As for pacing, it has been slow, but half my games move at a pace similar to this one and the other half are daily-basis types. I'm content with that and enjoying things.
Kimiko
Not as slow as a couple of my other games, really! And I've been a bit overwhelmed this holiday season myself so the slow pace has been fine with me.
Picking up a bit wouldn't hurt now though... but I leave that up to you and the others...
Lingfeng Shangguan
The holidays just about murdered every PbP game for me, but I'm around still. I'm trying to get the pace back up on the two games I was GMing, and I'm now only playing in this and one other (the new Legendary Planet AP, no less!).
Actually, in all honesty, the holidays almost murdered me period, leading to a complete creative burnout and deep depression that I'm still struggling to crawl my way out of, but whatevs.
I think I'm just waiting for a good time for Ling to shine.
Xú Yanyeeku
Aside from the fact that I have been super flaky, sick as a dog and having crazy family drama since the holidays...I am having a great time. Not feeling super effective with Yanyeeku...and with the loss of Dunja maybe I should transition to something else? How would folks feel about all that?
Xú Yanyeeku
Yeah there are a lot of beats about him that I totally dig and I want the shapeshifting stuff to be a big deal but our current situation doesn't really make that work out..honestly its the skald thing more than anything else. I like the kitsune and personality but the skald magic/song things isn't really working out so hot. I honestly feel like I should be more of a rogue or a warrior or something. I dunno maybe I should just ride it out until some down time and I can retrain as something else.
mdt
@Naravash - Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
@Xu - I'm all for people enjoying the characters they are playing. If you aren't, retraining is always an option, as is changing characters (as you see with Naravash).
Lingfeng Shangguan
I like Ling as a character, and intend to continue using her. I made a few substandard choices during the character-building process (like having a wand for a spell I already knew- lack of double-checking on my part), but I think, like most sorcerers, she's just going to take a couple of levels to really come into her own.
I've thought about possibly going Dragon Disciple eventually, if we reach sufficiently high levels.
Xú Yanyeeku
Is there a prohibition against full career because I have some ideas to train in that direction...
Xú Yanyeeku
Hah, autocorrect. I meant casters. Full caster.

Sorry everyone, new map up now. Your Icon should be on the map. Let me know who's approaching in what order, and make stealth rolls. I may adjust the oni positions based on what your stealth rolls are.
Kimiko
all the icons look the same to me... I don't know who is who.

To all my games :
You may have noticed I've been iffy responding since Thursday the 4th. My wife is having surgery (again) Wednesday. Her mother was supposed to fly in to help, but she had an emergency Thursday and ended up having a minor surgery Friday. So I've been canceling work trips, and generally doing all the stuff she was supposed to be here doing. I'll continue to be iffy this week. Sorry. Will hopefully be more consistent week after next.
Kimiko
So sorry about your wife's issues... I hope she recovers swiftly and completely. Take whatever time you need as her health (and your own) take precedence over any game.
Lingfeng Shangguan
Duly noted. Best wishes regarding your family troubles! We'll be here when you get back.
Xú Yanyeeku
Same as others; bummer for the wife, no issue for the game.
mdt
Wednesday : Surgery for wife, doctor says she had no knee left, she has one now, all computer designed and doctor ground out. Surgery went well. Wife dopey. Doctors found compression fracture in back while prepping for surgery. Will deal with later.
Thursday : Wake up sick as a dog (As usual, every time I go to the hospital with my wife, I get sick...). Get wife and take her home from hospital.
Friday : Don't remember Friday...
Saturday : Wake up at 8AM, pack, take wife to bank for errand, get her settled in at home, drive 9.5 hours, still sick, to deal with sick father.
Sunday : Get yelled at by uncle, for not wanting to visit dad and get him sick, get up, go visit dad. Spend two hours going shopping to buy dad new clothes he needs. Go back to hotel, collapse on bed.
Monday : Wake up at 6AM to start work day early so I can take off early for dad's doctor's appointment. Realize it's a holiday and I don't have to work. Post on threads, go back to bed...
Monday Evening/Tuesday : Get games running again...
Kimiko
I'm happy for your wife's new knee and hope she has a quick recovery and pain free pt. Sorry to hear about your other troubles... Having to help out our folks as they age is a mixed blessing. Be glad you still have your uncle and dad and smile through it! Don't worry about us, we'll be here and ready when you are. Life comes first!

I've watched a couple of knee replacements surgeries back when that was a channel on cable (anyone ever see that stuff) my dad always stopped on it...I think to get a sense of what it would be like for him one day as he will have to have the surgery at some point...anywho, intense stuff!
I hear you about being sick in the hospital, I have been in and out of them a lot lately with the family and you are so right its like signing up for another does of cold/flu like issues.
Anyway thats quite the load. I think the group we have here have a patient streak so get the rest you need.
Lingfeng Shangguan
Sorry you're going through such a trying time. As always, take care of you and yours first. We'll be around.
Gavmania
Glad to hear your wife has a new knee, I hope the compression fracture is dealt with safely too. I understand about juggling all your family commitments while members are in the hospital, my daughter was in hospital for 16 months and I spent my weekdays looking after the rest of my family while my wife stayed with her and weekends going to see them both. I pray that you are given the strength to endure.
Kimiko
Just a heads up. I am posting this in all my games, so you may see it more than once.
I am leaving for a cruise at 2am on March 5th. I'll be on the road all night and arriving at the ship midday. I won't have internet access til sometime the night of the 5th... For the next 2 weeks, I will have spotty internet (wifi at sea isn't the best), and I'll probably only be checking in at night once a day. Please if my character needs to take action between my own posts, GM feel free to bot me as necessary.
Ship returns to port on March 19th, and I will resume normal posting on the 20th.
Thanks, and sorry for any inconvenience my semi-absence may cause.

Sorry everyone, life's been hitting me hard recently, and I've had a severe lack of energy when I've not been working or travelling. Every other week I spend about 20 hours on planes or in airports (sunday and thursday, 9 hours up and 13 hours back). On top of that, all the family stuff has taken a toll. Plus, my wife is working from home now, so when I'm home, she's working 11 to 8 and I'm working 8 to 4:30, makes it very complicated. Nothing like seeing your wife 24 a day or 0 a day depending on the week to make things topsy turvy. I'm finally getting used to it though, and I hope to be back to normal posting going forward (with occasional lapses from exhaustion).
mdt
Sorry, my post got eaten...
--------------------
Original Posting from Friday :
I'm afraid I've had to come to a hard decision.
My life is very hectic and tiring right now, and while I had thought it would calm down, it hasn't. I'm constantly exhausted, and just don't have the energy I used to have. It's not fair to people playing, and I just can't continue apologizing forever.
I'm going to have to cut back on my GM'ing on here some. I had tried to keep up 6 games, which I used to do relatively easily, but lately, it's just so hard to keep them up that I end up looking at the 6, knowing I don't have time or energy for all 6, and then not updating any of them because I don't have the energy to figure out which two or three to update.
I'm going to have to cut back, this may be one I cut back on. I need to know if you guys want to continue or not. The game has been hit or miss, on both sides. My side has been hit or miss due to RL stuff as talked about above. Technically I've been running 7 games (one of them had two tables, so it's six or seven depending on how you look at it).
I need feedback from the players on whether they are still enough into this to do 3-5 posts a week or not... Assuming the GM's life can cooperate...

I'm willing to continue on even with the low posting rate if you're up to it mdt, but I will go with whatever the group decides... I understand your dilemma, as life really does have priority over gaming. I will be sad if this game dissolves, but I will cope as always with the loss. (You should see my list of 'old, inactive' games... many of which died before their time.. it's very long)
mdt
I've got about 30 games on my list, which is why it's so hard to cut back on my own...
If this one ends up shutting down, I'll happily put people on a list for when openings come up in my cut down game list if they like. Would rather go with people I know than recruit again going forward when possible.
Xú Yanyeeku
Honestly I joined the last game because I wanted to play with MDT. It is the case that I have luckily gotten to play with most of you in either other games or in this one but I'm not really feeling my character mechanically and the low posting rate makes the role playing part not really fulfilling. If I had the sense that I could retrain soon, I am fine to keep going otherwise I'm happy to go on a list and hopefully hook up with s game some other time.

Hey, MDT, I've been in your shoes before- I fairly recently had to go through the whole "struggling with whether or not to continue GMing" thing. Now, I only had two games going, so I ended up deciding to stick with it... but you go with your gut.
If you decide to keep this going, I'm still on board. If you decide to shut it down, I won't be heartbroken. I like Ling (a version of her is being incorporated into a story I'm working on), but honestly it does sometimes go so long between posts that I'm not sure I have a handle on her character as well as I'd like. I know this campaign has been troubled, but I really love the setting (too few eastern fantasy games on these boards, if y'ask me!), so... it's hard for me to say outright whether or not I feel it should have its plug pulled.
I'd also be happy to go on a list of call-backs if such a thing were to happen, for what it's worth.
Gavmania
I'm easy either way; I don't want you to feel obligated to continue something that is killing you but I am happy to continue if you feel up to it. I agree with Avernus, though, I'd rather you drop it if you can't keep up a reasonable rate. It gets hard to pick up the thread of where we are after a few days and combat becomes very disjointed.
mdt
Not sure how Avernus was bleeding out, like I said, the cudgels were doing sudual damage, not HP damage.
Ok, so, if we continue, I need to post more regularly as I'm able. PCs will need to as well.
I have 3 continues, one 'if I can change my character soonish' and one 'meh'.
I'll try to continue then. Let me figure out where we are in the combat.
If I can't keep up a good posting rate, I'll drop back and put people on a list.
Kimiko
sounds fair enough... thanks!
Xú Yanyeeku
Sounds good to me too...
