I keep forgetting to get some equipment that I wanted to ask about. I would like Dev to have a Neural Comm (TL-14 if possible) for 20,000cr as he still had 25,000cr to spend on equipment, as well as the 25,000cr in the bank. Would that be ok? Also a Mechanical Kit (5000cr) and a set of TL-10 cloth armor (500cr) and TL-10 Breather mask (150cr).
That uses up my 25,000cr for equipment, as well as 650cr off my savings.

Computer, Hand : 1000 credits, Computer/3, 0.5kg, 10TB of storage
Data Wafer : 5 credits, 1TB of storage per wafer
Data Wafer: (TL 10): The standard medium of information storage in the Imperium is the standard data wafer, a rectangle of hardened plastic about the size of a credit card. The interface for a data wafer is standardised but the internal workings vary. A TL 10 data wafer is solid-state memory; TL 14 wafers are memory diamond, with information encoded in structures of carbon atoms. Cr. 5.
So you can either offload it onto a computer and upload it wirelessly, or store them on wafers and pop a wafer into your reading slot when you need it.
I would personally suggest buying enough wafers to backup all your programs regularly, especially your PP's incase something happens to them.

Scandalous, the connection is a bit tenuous, but looking at your second term, it seems you were likely smuggled out of Zhodani space to the Imperium. If your route passed through the somewhat more porous border of the client states Coreward of the Imperium, you could have passed through the Commonality of Kedzudh during Omaltdoy'tsart's final term.
The Commonality is an Imperial ally, so wouldn't be an unreasonable staging point to get someone into the Imperium, particularly travelling with an Imperial diplomat.
How you'd want to work your connection with the punitive strikes against Vargr corsairs going on at the same time would be up to you. (This is the term after Malt's connection with Dev, which involved a different naval action).
Oddly, I see a pattern where a number of us started as outside the Imperium.

To gain personal computer, something of equal value must be lost.
Since I've figured out that I can have more than one unit (d'oh), I'll drop my Tendril size back to 2, and buy two units (an underbody and a weapons array). This allows me to equip my other memory stick and my wireless connection. I'll reallocate my equipment in a moment. The extra terrabyte of memory let me upgrade some skills as well. I -also- had to lower my audio sensor from being advanced to being normal (no x8 hearing!)
I bought 12 storage Wafers for now, and may buy a few more to finish off my cash in a bit.
Is her Hand Computer equipped with a wireless connection? If not, please tell me it's cheap. :) (money finagling has resulted in 405 credits remaining)
Edit: Equipment reallocated. :)

You can't get a TL14 Neural Comm, because the Imperium is at TL12. Darrians are at TL14, so some of the Darrian characters had access to TL14 stuff, but they are also going to be playing the game with equipment they can't easily replace or repair. So that balances out.
What you can do is get a TL12 Neural Comm. It's 5,000 credits. The biggest difference between them is that it only handles audio/visual rather than audio/visual/holographic. It comes with a Computer/0 instead of a computer/1.
And yes, you can get all the rest out of your 20K remaining equipment funds. Total would be 5000+5000+500+150 = 10650 credits, leaving you 9,350 credits to spend.

Yes, hand computers have wireless connections. Although you could just plug into it as well, you are assumed as a bot to have connections when needed. Plugging into it would be 'quieter' than using wireless if you're sneaking.

@ Malt
I think I have a storyline. The Vargr raid was for kidnapping Scandalous and returning her to Zhodani space for a large reward.
I assume you mean the Vargr kidnapped her from Commonality space with the intention to return her to Zhodani space?

Yes and this lead to:
Omaltdoy'tsart leads a punitive raid against the home base of the Vargr raiders.
Adding: to rescue Baroness Scandalous
Edit: Roughly 3 years ago
EAVE
His princess was in another punitive Raid? :>
Updated equipment locations. I'm gonna give up my magnetic grapples instead of the arm upgrade.
To verify, when we take damage to say, endurance, that reduces the dice mod for endurance, right? So if you're at 0 endurance from damage, you're taking a -3 to any sort of 'wake up' effect like in our prologue?
Omaltdoytsart Yuftro
I can see where Scandalous could have been on one of the corsair vessels or on the base at Torrknungazarr when the punitive raid secured her release.
It even works with your term history. Easy to understand how you failed the roll for special training if the training was interrupted by a kidnapping.
mdt
Note that if Scandalous and Malt met is open for debate, Malt commanded an entire fleet, he may not have bothered to meet the person one of his ships rescued, that's up to you two.
mdt
I think other than Warren (who is missing in action apparently) we've got most of the connections fleshed out, is that correct? IE: Two for each person?
DEV : I think your connections are there, just pushed together into one blurb yes?
EAVE: I think you have your connections, but they are not in your profile yes?
TAM : Has one confirmed and is waiting on Warren to confirm the other.
MALT : Has one with Dev and one with Scandalous confirmed (I think) but the Scandalous connection is missing from profile.
Scandalous : One connection confirmed with Malt, and one potential with Warren
Warren : No connections, but two potentials.
Glitch : No connections, but several potentials.
So, I'm waiting on Warren and Glitch to post. If they don't post by tonight I'll send PMs I'd like to get the game started, but they're holding it up.
mdt
Well, if you can't get a second, it's not the end of the world. Given you're starting so far back that it limits your connection potential (and doing so at the GM's request), I'll figure something out to make up for it if you don't.
I would like to remind everyone that you can have *more* than 2 connections, for those of you who have deep career paths, *you* only get credit for two of them, but the other person can get credit even if you don't.
So if, for example,
Moe has a connection to Larry, Curly, and Curly Joe
Larry has a connection to Moe, Curly, and Curly Joe
Curly has a connection to Moe, Larry.
Curly Joe has a connection to Moe and Larry.
Everyone has two connections at least, and gets two skills. Moe and Larry both have 3 connections, but only gets a bonus skill for 2 of them. The third (to Curly Joe in both cases) is still valid though and gives Curly Joe two skill boosts.
Omaltdoytsart Yuftro
I'm good with a meet with Scandalous...interesting to have one set of people having met, and as a Droyne I can see Malt being interested in the presence of a Psi.
I'll add the second connection to Malt's profile. As to skill...I think Leadership or Tactics (Naval) +1 makes the most sense.
Barring Objections, I'll go with Leadership +1. Having a Tactics (Naval) of 3 seems a bit much. :)
EAVE, FWIW, I looked at a connection, but Darrian space just seemed too far away (though really *anyone* could connect with you during the your first term...with no memory of it. Is there a reason that EAVE's terms on the matrix are shifted down 3 rows? Because if they weren't, The blank spaces in Dev's and EAVE's memories would match perfectly...

2 people marked this as a favorite.
Interesting bit of trivia :
Curly Howard was called 'Curly' because he had beautiful wavy hair and even a waxed handlebar mustache. When Shemp got an offer to do some big work and quit playing the third stooge, he offered to take over so his brothers could keep working. But the stooge's boss (at the time) said he was too pretty to be a stooge (he was considered the handsomest of the Howard brothers).
So Curly, saying 'I can fix that' left the room and came back a bit later with his head shaved. Healy had said he looked 'Girly' but Moe misheard him as 'Curly' and Curly stuck as Curly's stage name.
Apparently as a young man, Curly was very handsome and was 'socially in demand' as Moe called it.

Yes, there's a reason.
Looks around
You should not ask further questions, you might wake up on the edge of known space with no memory of the last year if you do.

BTW, I believe that we established that former Captain Yuftro is a crewmember on the Verdant Dawn.
It's very possible since he is working as an Engineer/Mechanic that they have not actually met, but at some point Scandalous may be surprised to find a Droyne with 'Yuftro' stenciled on his jumpsuit (assuming we don't all look alike to you :) )
mdt
Well, in her defense, she really wouldn't expect a former Fleet Captain and War Hero (not to mention Duke) to be slumming as a Life Support Technician on a luxury liner. :) It's much more likely that he'd be part of an extended Yuftro family instead, a distant relative or even a different clan with the same name.

True, but it wouldn't stop her from feeling really guilty. Especially if she treated him as an unrecognized commoner after being the hero that saved her from being reeducated.

Which is hilarious, considering Malt would presume she just recognized his own desire to keep a low profile.

so we'll start without me recognizing you then...it's going to be hard to keep a low profile once you become a reality star, LOL

Dev and Glitch: With my enemy as this religious nut, maybe he and Glitch could have been in the same area. As the "Star Bishop", as I call him, tried to ambush my ship, I think maybe once I was away, the Imperium sent Glitch to be part of the ambassadorial team. Maybe she even needed to talk to Dev to get his side of the story...
I like this idea, actually. Let's go with it. Jenni interviewed Dev as part of her ambassadorial duty.

EAVE is connected to Tam, but no one else has offered up/accepted a connection unless I missed it. EAVE has been turned down/ignored as the annoying little bot she is. :<
Actually, I was thinking that Glitch might take an interest in EAVE. She loves robotics and electronics and would probably find EAVE to be more than a little fascinating. But how could they have met? Hmmm. EAVE being Darrien makes this bit a little unlikely. Thoughts?
Malt, we were both involved in gambling circles, and where you lost, I won. Is it possible that Glitch is the one who took your money? That would have been my second-to-last term, so I'm guessing that won't work. There is mdt's idea of having you be my approver for medical compensation, though Glitch would likely not recognize you (or even know you other than by name).
Scandalous, the obvious connection here is that Jenni is a fan, but I'd rather not follow that trope if we can come up with another way for it to work.

Ok, then I will make a connection with Glitch as my second one for skill. I am still willing to make others if people need connections...

Unfortunately, the only term I could connect with you for was your diplomatic mission, which is the same term that you're using with Dev. So depending on what that diplomatic mission was, and who it was with, determines whether EAVE would show up. If we're allowed to tie in on the same terms, then:
Since you mentioned being tied in as an attache, that means you could easily have been along for a lot of diplomacy, which means you may have been left alone for a short time with EAVE while she was with a diplomat testing emotion analysis software for her bosses (Pretty much in the same position, but it'd be clear she didn't -really- know what she was doing; she's friendly and would have respected proper decorum, but would have swapped to stories regailing about a mysterious robot hero named The Major back home). Or we can work out something else, depending on what skill you want! They could have easily dove straight into girl talk or mechanic talk, or whatever you like!

You could be some of the recovered contraband (you and your Stasis pod) from the home base of the Vargr raiders. How you got there...don't know....It could set a three way with you, me and Malt

Or even better, in one of her escape attempts, she finds your pod with Imperium Navy markings in a cargo hold and improperly revives you. She was hoping you could help her escape.

For something to match, it has to be in the same row on the matrix (see top of campaign). And remember, I'd rather the actual face to face meetings be kept to a low number, I'd much rather 'oh, you were in the battle of cygnus 5? Wow, so was I, I got a lung full of cleaner fluid, and woken up by a new med-tech from stasis and barfed up a lung... literally' rather than 'Oh! Hi, random person I met 4 years ago, how did you and these other 4 random people I met over the last 30 years all end up on this ship at the same time?'.

EAVE: You and I could easily connect in my second Term as I back stabbed a supposed partner, who could have been working with you to rob the robo-plant, or something. My getting rid of the "middleman" could have allowed you to keep your spoils, as he was planning on turning you in to take the blame.

Besides the unintentional double entendre, as long as I don't come face to face with Glitch, it would be a passable connection. At least that's how I read the follow up posts.
If Glitch accepts, I think stealth 1 would be a good match

So here's what I have for connections:
Tam: EAVE was placated by many a Special Arms agent into watching hypnotic knife tricks in order to shut her up. Tam may or may not be one of said agents, but definitely was assigned to a very similar mission to EAVE. If [CLASSIFIED] ever comes up. +Bladeskill get.
Glitch: EAVE was present during at least one of your diplomatic assignments, you probably spotted her as having an unusual design and recognized that she wasn't designed to be an attache or a frou-frou pet robot, due to your mechanics skill. You never really met face-to-face, but given how rare it was to see a Darrian bot as an Imperial that wasn't trying to kill anyone... ???? I'm going to go with Sensors 0 for EAVE as it was all about data collection at the time, and she likely figured out how to read portions of the data she was collecting. There's a whole host of skills readily available from that interaction for Glitch (#Inspired)
Are those acceptable, Kitty?
Re: Droyniphobia: I thought that he was just trying to make sure you two weren't objectifying the Droyne. As long as you're interested in him as a person and his needs, then it's fine.
