I'm here.
As for the port call, there doesn't seem to be much to draw the interest, so I'm ready to simply move on to the next port.
I did put the trade list in the top of the game area, are you not interested in buying speculative cargo?

mdt |

Going to assume the lack of response is mostly due to holidays.
Anyone else want to do anything at the port? Or are you just basically picking up contract cargo again like at the last port and taking on anyone who wants a ticket?

Warren Connery |

I think for the most part that unless we run into something or hear an interesting rumor it's going to be contract cargo and passengers for a while. My understanding is we are in "civilized" space on our way to more adventurous areas. I'm all for pausing to see the sights if there is something noteworthy to see.

Folks - my mother has been in the ICU for two weeks. After work, I spend my evenings there. When I have a spare hour...like now... I sleep.
I'm not giving up on the game. But please understand that I will not be around that much for the foreseeable future. Please bot me for now.

mdt |

Sorry all, my mother was rear ended this afternoon by some idiot in a cargo truck while she was stopped on a 2-lane highway to make a left turn. He was going about 60mph (about 95-100kph for our European friends). She's ok, but they're keeping her in ICU for a day or two due to her age and a head wound that they don't think is serious beyond some scarring. Just got back from the ICU after they got her situated. I'll try to get a post up tomorrow sometime.
This is complicated by my work not letting me post from work (Paizo is blocked).

I'd love to continue, but I'm just completely inundated with the new job. I spent all of last week in DC, 6AM to 9:30PM each day, and 6AM to 1:30AM friday night getting home. I have to go to San Antonio this week.
Votes? It may be March before I'm at a point where I can do more than a post a week or two. So either hiatus or shut down I'm afraid. :(

mdt |

I got a job with Siemens, and I'm basically ramping up on an entirely new technology stack, in addition to taking in an entirely new corporate culture, so I'm sort of brain fried.

All, I am in the midst of con season and I have two cons in the span of a month, one of which I am working as staff. If I am slowing things down, please feel free to bot me. If you are in my group, please be patient and I will check in as often as time allows. Things should be back to normal after the first weekend in March.

mdt |

For those who havent' gotten them all already, you can get your library for about $18 via the humble bundle.
Also : Targeting March to return to normal posting (I hope). Sorry for all the delays.

mdt |

Ok, we're officially back up and running. However, I'm not going to be able to commit to daily posts like I used to do. I'm going to be conservative and shoot for two posts a week for now.
I would like to thank you all for having patience with me the last six months as things have shaken out. My life is settling down again, and things are kind of getting back to normal. Between losing my job, getting a new one, my mother being nearly killed, and my father's health, the last year has been kind of a nightmare.
Again, apologies for how things have been, and I hope you will bear with me as I try to get back on track again.

Ok, here is what I found (Number refers to post in Gameplay):
1191 Group funds plus sale of cargo 1671250 Cr
1192 Sale of Phoenix and Salvage 1306.5 Mcr
1204 Purchase of ship 912 Mcr Crew Pay 72000 Cr
579 (Discussion) Purchase Cutter 10MCr
That leaves 386,099,250 credits. It costs 110,061 credits per month to run the ship with all the crew. I don't know how many months it has been since we first left. I may have missed some things but that is what I found when reading through gameplay. I could have sworn we bought some droids but I couldn't find the final purchase of those, so their cost isn't in there.

So, you have 282 tons of cargo space, and two luxury, four high, and 12 regular cabins. Crew takes up 6 of the regular cabins, leaving 6 free for passengers.
Pure freight is 7700 credits per trip per ton. We'll assume you can get about 80% of your hold full without waiting for additional cargo on average (sometimes you'll fill up, sometimes you'll not have enough going where you need it to go). So that's 7700 * 282 * 0.8 = 1.7 Million in cargo.
You have two passengers paying 45K for one luxury cabin every trip. The other cabin is only filled about every other jump (at full fair, we'll assume you 'free upgrade' someone with High on occasion, or let 2-3 people with regular share the luxury). So that's about 65K for that. Four high cabins, again, only about every other, so that's 34000 x 4 x 0.5 and we'll call it 70K (assuming some free upgrades) and 6 x 9400 x 0.9 = 50K. So passengers can generally make you about 185K per trip (not per month, although that's close to it as with transit time +2 weeks in jump it's about one trip every month of ship time).
Maintenance costs are 76K/month.
Life support is 3000 per double occupancy crew cabin (6x3000). Life support for the staterooms is another 6000 (Luxury) + 4000 (High) + 6000 (regular) whether they are occupied or not (whole ship is on one life support system, so the costs for the rooms is per trip, with a 'surcharge' for double occupancy). That's 18K for the crew rooms, and 16K for the passenger rooms. We'll tack on another 4K for passenger rooms assuming that the regular rooms are double occupancy fairly regularly, and that the others aren't, to just get a good baseline average. That brings the rooms life support to a total of 38,000 per month. Finally, there's a per person cost as well (food and such) of 1000 credits per body on board. That's 12K for the crew, and another 6+4+2*1.5 = 18K for passengers, for another 20K. So life support total each month is 58,000 credits.
Crew salaries are : 42K
Engineer : 4000x5 = 20K
Pilot : 6000x2 = 12K
Steward : 2000x1 = 2K
Medic : 3000x1 = 3K
Astrogator : 5000x1 = 5K
(that keeps all the PC's in pocket money, as well as the crew). Note, that is an average salary, you may have to pay more to keep good help! Also note, you don't have dedicated gunners, so you're technically understaffed if you have to go into battle against pirates or whatever.
So total output per month, on average is around 176,000, not 110K. We may have calculated it wrong last time. Plus add in another 20K for docking fees, refueling when necessary, and such as an average.
Income is 1.92Mcr, with costs of about 200K, or you're making a tidy profit of about 1.7Mcr per trip. So, without speculative cargo, you're money increased, not decreased, to (Starting + 6 months * 1.7Mcr) = 396,299,250 credits.

I am going to be at a con until Monday and will likely be unable to post. Please bot me as necessary or, if you are in my game, be patient and I will pick up on Monday evening or Tuesday morning.
Hopefully you can post yourself before you go. :) SOrry for the delay.

mdt |

Apologies everyone.
I need to bring you up to date.
So, as you all know, new job.
Project is in a very bad spot since mid June.
My project lead quit a few weeks ago, and I got to take over. The new guy, is now the project lead. (I'm the only non-contractor on the project, so I'm the lead).
I'm working 50-60 hour weeks, and get pulled into 30 minute meetings that take 3-6 hours.
Basically, I'm so overloaded that I can't think straight, and trying to post is almost impossible. Even for playing, much less as the GM.
I am sorry to do this, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to shut my games down for now. The only question I have is, do you want me to pull the plug or just wait and see if things clear up in a month or two?
