I didn't know I couldn't read what snap wrote, I may have missed that. I just worked under the assumption that the signs were in the local language, not that reading had been affected.
Also, gold star goes to Rocket for post 2000!

RE: More GM troubles.
Sorry everyone, seems like I can't catch a break. This weeks fun is infected wisdom tooth and pain.. lots of pain... Have appointment in AM with surgeon about having all 3 pulled. Trying to get stuff posted as I can...
Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair
Sorry you're having trouble, we'll be here when you get back
mdt
So, some things I've learned :
1) I am allergic to Oxycodon.
2) The nerves in my gums are not connected to the same nerve ganglia as the nerves in the roots of my front teeth.
3) It is very very difficult to eat when you can't feel your bottom lip, your chin, or the skin between.
4) Being allergic to Oxycodon is not a fun thing.
5) Projectile vomiting when you have fresh stitches in your mouth is painful... very painful... excruciating.
6) When my teeth can feel but my gums can't, my body screams 'something is wrong' and sends pain transmissions non-stop from my tooth roots to let me know my gums are messed up (because they aren't getting feedback from my brain).
7) Rinsing with salt water gets old really fast.
8) Mushy food gets old really fast.
9) Spahgetti is just mushy enough to eat, and just rough enough to hurt my surgery area.
10) Being allergic to Oxycodon sucks giant rocks.
11) Lack of sleep, lack of food, and non-stop tooth pain makes it all but impossible to concentrate and make posts in your games you're playing in.
12) Lack of sleep, lack of food, and non-stop tooth pain makes it all but impossible to concentrate and make posts in your games you're running.
Things are improving, but it's slow. Hopefully in the next couple of days I'll have the energy to do posts in all my games. My apologies. I may move us forward a bit in time to speed things up due to the lost time, if everyone is ok with that.
Project Violet
Do what you gotta do, boss. And heal up nicely, okay? Show your body who's boss! (hint: It is.)
The Rocket
ugh, yeah...some lessons I'd prefer to learn vicariously!
Take care and don't worry about us.
Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair
Sorry to hear, don't worry about us until you recover.
"Mud" Adam Storn
It sounds like you'd have been better with a car accident.
Yikes
mdt
Ok, feeling better finally, missed two days of work last week due to what I think is a dry socket on one of my jaws, it's still painful, but I"m not throbbing and aching all night like I was last week. I'm going to try to pick back up now. I actually have slept all night two nights in a row, and the jaw cramps didn't hit today, so that's good. Still have problems feeling my chin though.

@Aegis : Power Tricks is a skill that lets you do unusual things with your powers. You haven't learned it yet, but the 8 or less allowed you to merge the beams into the existing structure using your desolidification.
If you'd like to put a point into 'Power Tricks' after the story arc completes, you may. This will remove the hefty failure penalty for trying it untrained if you fail (Unless you roll a 16 or higher).
Janice "Snapdragon" Li
Huh. You've mentioned Brick Tricks before. Are they generally specific to power types? Like, would I get Shapeshifter Tricks if I wanted to do things like stretch my body into cool patterns?
mdt
There's really two different skills.
Brick Tricks : This is a skill of using super human strength to do unusual things (sculpting steel by hand, welding metal together by exerting str to push it together, carving out Mt Rushmore, etc). Some of these may require a complimentary skill (artwork, for example).
Power Tricks : This is a skill of using your powers to do unusual things. Rocket using speed to search a bank vault in 10 seconds, Aegis using her desolidification to remove cancer from someone's brain or merge a steel beam into an existing beam, Janice using her morphing body to spell out S O S as the enemy brick slams her into the ground over and over again while singing 'tra la la la la', Blaze etching images into wood using his flames, and so on.
Basically, a power or brick trick can't replicate an existing power, but it can do non-combat stuff that's cool or useful.

Weighted Votes :
3 : BBBCC
2 : AAABB
1 : CCCAA
A : 8
B : 13
C : 9
C is 4 points behind B, with 5 of 7 people having voted. The most C could get over B in 2 more votes is 4, causing a tie.
With a Tie, I'd go with B because it was the 'middle of the road' option. So I'll post shortly for B.

Possible directions of questioning:
-What's the group's relationship to the previous high-profile meta terror attack, and why were they not involved there?
-Why did the group decide to name themselves after AIM, a well-known supervillain terrorist group in the Marvel Universe? (depending on the nerdiness of reporter/saturation of marvel comics in this universe)
Janice "Snapdragon" Li
A) Oops, right, forgot that they *were* involved. There might still be questions about the nature of the relationship, and whether AIM knew there was a meta terrorist group and chose not to give warnings about it ahead of time.
Project Violet
Given the extremely religious nature of the area we're in, questions about how they can trust people who dress so immorally, or behave in such non-conservative ways should definitely be asked.
Remember that we're in an area where morality is mandated, and if you so much as wear the wrong kind of makeup they accuse of you of being in league with evil. (I really wish I was kidding.)
Hotaru Hoshiko
Pffft, Pulse is barely showing any skin at all :p
Another thing that might come up is questioning the validity of making meta on Meta crime legal, as it's pretty clear how bad stuff can get if two metas go nuclear in the middle of a city. Making it legal is not only condoning, but supporting intrameta (that's a word!) violence.
Project Violet
Pulse may not be, but a lot of Metas do. It's not all about you!
Also, remember, we don't (yet) have indestructible spandex. Meta fights will very quickly turn into burlesque shows if people aren't careful.
Janice "Snapdragon" Li
Err, I'm naked like 90% of the time we're fighting...
Hotaru Hoshiko
This is the soon-to-leave bundle from humble (or close to it), and it's got at least one of the comics that Violet suggested I pick up. I figure there might even be something in there for you, Vi. :)
It's just sad I only just noticed this with like an hour to go. I thought it was the new one. :(
Project Violet
I can't see what was in the bundle any more, as it's closed.
What was the title list?
Hotaru Hoshiko
1 person marked this as a favorite.
I didn't get it, but faith volume 1, several xo manowars, two rpg books, and a signed copy of the new or next manowars as the high end thing. Mostly digital except that last bit, several with alternate breast cancer awareness covers.

Ok, so, sorry if it feels a bit railroaded lately, when I do this game in meat life, it's usually about 2-3 months from 'hidden' to 'semi-open' super hero antics. Unfortunately, PBP draws that out, so a lot of this stuff takes an hour or two in a meat game, and half a year in PBP.
I'll be handing out experience again shortly, and also doing a round of character updates, hopefully next week.
You'll want to figure out costumes and such for then, if possible (if you're really nice to Vi's player, they might just might do some posers for you, but no pressure if it's too much effort). :)
Hotaru Hoshiko
Is Aegis's ability to transform her clothes into a metally costume limited to just her clothes, or can pulse Piggyback on that transform?
Janice "Snapdragon" Li
Hmm! I might just devote some XP for the ability to "grow" a costume of leaves. What abiltiy would that count as?
Project Violet

I know your pain. I just moved my PBEM Cyberpunk game over to a bi-weekly or so Skype session, and by tonight (the second of the sessions), we've covered more ground than we have in the last year of e-mail game play.
It happens.
For my part, though, I don't feel railroaded at all. There's definitely a lot going on around us, but I think we're okay with it. If there are any issues that I feel are potentially cropping up, it's that we may not have as many XP as we might have if we were in a tabletop session, which could be part of a power-level problem going forward. That being said, I feel that for what we've actually done in game, our XP is about where it should be.

Woo!

Keep in mind that everything I render is based on pre-made, for-purchase content - so if I haven't bought it, I can't render it. ;)
Also keep in mind that most of what I have in my runtime is stuff for female figures, because (almost literally) 99% of the industry is geared toward rendering pretty women. I have some things for male characters, but not a lot. Appallingly little, really. Which is part of why I'm trying to learn how to make the stuff. Failing miserably, mind you, but trying.
"Mud" Adam Storn
I don't feel railroaded either. I'm genuinely enjoying the story.
Cheers

@MDT would you be ok with me removing the players that aren't part of the game anymore from the xp/notes sheet or do you still need their info?
mdt
I thought they were already gone from the EXP table. I'd like to keep them in the known metas page (other than the one that the player asked me to remove completely). If they are still in the EXP table feel free to yank them.
Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair
Sorry I got xp mixed up with the pictures page but they are still listed on:
Group Expenditures as Table B
PC with pictures
Combat Grid
Would you mind if I removed Group Expenditures and moved them from pc to known metas withs the npcs?
Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair
Thanks, I think I got everything:
• Moved old players to NPC list in order, kept picutres but renamed link to match other npcs
• Removed Table B Group Expenditures
• Added Blaze to PC list
• Left the combat tables up in case you needed those stats
Let me know if I missed anything/changed something I shouldn't have
Project Violet
Unrelated to anything, if any of you are (or know) literary agents looking to pick up a cyberpunk-genre adventure thriller that got top marks from the Orion/Gollancz open submissions contest (even if it wasn't chosen), let me know.
'cause brothers and sisters, I got one.
And MDT, dude, I am so sorry for the Shimmer/Shadowcat mixup today.
I can only blame my sieve-like memory and the fact that I've been wrangling my yard into shape and thus am doped on antihistamines.
Project Violet
He's still playing. His job has him doing the work of multiple people because burning one person out is more efficient than hiring him a staff. Right? Right.
I'll poke him now. I know he is still having fun in the game, because he speaks of it fondly. Trust me, it's his job, not the player's choice.
Barry "Blaze" Wind
Don't hold the game on my account. I'm really sorry I went incommunicado for a while. My latest assignment has been to create a catalog for 1,000+ chandeliers and whatnot, and get it done by the end of March.
It's turning into a rare day when my brain isn't cottage cheese.
mdt
I am considering adding a sixth game I'm running, now that my work life has settled down with my new job (And my jaw is no longer stabbing pain into my brain). If you are interested in GURPS, you can look here and if interested, let me know in the thread.
Rather than do a public recruitment, I'm just going to ask people I'm playing with already first.
Project Violet
Friends don't let friends play GURPS. ;)
Project Violet
I've just never had a good experience with it.
As bad as HERO can be for "Well, you spent your points the wrong way, and now everyone else overpowers you, despite you all having the same point level," GURPS has always been just that much worse, for me.
Blaze's player and I can recount the horror story of the GURPS Supers game we were both in, in which one of the players essentially built an unkillable, always-wins character who used Pre- and Post-cognition exclusively. It was pretty bad.
Janice "Snapdragon" Li
My preferred "modern" system is, oddly, 5e. I like GURPs though! Especially the magic side... so I'll have to think about it.
