Barry "Blaze" Wind |
"Wow…all that happened was that I got a bit confused," Blaze admitted, regarding Pulse's situation. "Still, it sounds like we got lucky against Tophat, unless all he wanted to do was drive us away. Hard to predict what 'crazy' wants as far as goals or endgame, after all."
Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair |
"I'm not calling it that." She says watching Pulse explain the change in her powers. "I don't know if it was because of the portal, the snakes, or something else but you both got a power up. I don't think my powers have changed, Violet have you felt anything different?"
"Wait so does that mean you have a mole that's been giving out our information? Have any other teams encountered enemies that hard countered them?"
Project Violet |
Violet shakes her head.
"Nothing new on my end, not that I've noticed. For me it was before we vanished, remember?"
She moves her hands in an airy wave, and mimics Wendy Darling from "Peter Pan." "I can fly!"

Kate looks pensive. "Not exactly, but we're no longer completely internalized, like we were before. Nowdays, we have to keep the government at least nominally involved. Your group, on paper, would not fool anyone who'd fought you before. That is, anyone you encountered before would look at our paperwork on your team and probably peg who you are, despite the costume changes. The fact Blaze can do other elements is a bonus, it helps us hide him better. We'll want to run some tests on both Blaze and Pulse though. Nobody has had any reactions from the warp tunnel before." She waves at one of the kids. "Get us airborne, ok? Rescue can heal in flight. I want to get Trinary involved in this, she's our expert in metapowers. Pulse, as much as I hate to ask it, can you deal with out healing for a day? I'd like Trinary to examine you while you're still showing the effects of whatever happened?"
Hotaru Hoshiko |
"So... Trinary, not Trinity?" Pulse asks, moving to take a seat, "I'll be fine, unless I won't. I'm not a doctor. But... we haven't eaten in a bit, if that's something you can do something about, without it screwing with things."
Project Violet |
Violet nods at the mention of food.
"We should really feed the rescued, first, but then, cheeseburgers. Definitely."
Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair |
"Well that is kind of a terrifying idea. Are our files public information or did someone from whatever department controls them have to betray us? How much do they even know about us?" The idea of having a detailed file on her and her powers was a huge red flag to Aegis. Not knowing what they were up against was hard enough but now everyone could know exactly what they can do and how to shut them down. "I knew we had to register but someone finding out about us so quickly is a problem."
Barry "Blaze" Wind |
Barry decided to throw this out, though he was pretty sure he knew what the answer would be. "Y'know…despite my fire power—no pun intended—being on random at the moment, I still have a thing regarding computers and security systems. Maybe I can give our stuff the once-over?"
Hotaru Hoshiko |
"Honestly, I'm not sure I fully trust these guy's story." Pulse says after sitting for a moment, listening to the others. "They just happened to have enough chicken wire, and wirescreen, and tin roofing on hand to create an entire dome around their home while being attacked by giant electroreception-powered-hunting snakes? Without any mention of a meta doing it? I'd totally expected them to say 'oh yeah, a meta did this.', but I don't remember that ever getting translated."
Project Violet |
"You're assuming they'd have even seen who did it. What's the point of the person who made those snakes showing up to gloat at a tiny village if they weren't the intended target? From their standpoint, the snakes just showed up one day."
Hotaru Hoshiko |
"I mean building the Faraday cage that made them invisible. 'Cause it feels kinda like they were too prepared, you know? Or the snakes weren't that big on eating. I'm not really sure."

Note : Still working 60 hours a week, and had to work through my 3 day holiday
The snakes were taking out the radios, it's not a big stretch that they're using radar. On the other hand, it is mighty convenient... :P
*If* one were doing an experiment, then having an observer on the ground *would* be of use...

Kate frowns. "True, that is odd. Then again, I've been doing this for 3 or 4 years now, if I had a buck for everytime there's been an odd coincidence, I'd be able to buy this plane out of pocket change." She shrugs. "If you try to think about it too paranoid, you go a bit crazy." She speaks with such authority, that it seems to imply that she's tried it, and speaks from personal experience. "Did you know that paranoia is contagious? A little is healthy, too much is a disease. Hard to treat too." Again she seems to speak with a bit too much authority. "The locals will take care of the refugees. We've got microwaves and frozen Trader Joe's microwave dinners." She points forward in the plane, where a small kitchenette can just be seen. The back of the plane begins to close up. "Sit first, once we're in the air, you can eat. There's even a small shower if you want one. We've agreed to move our plane out of the local's airspace ASAP, they're a bit paranoid, and we all know how that goes." She turns to Blaze. "Absolutely, if you want to help out. We have a cyber security working group, if you want to join in on it. I'll have 1337 contact you and get you enrolled in it."
First week I only worked 40 hours in 3 months. So let's see if we can get back up and going.
Project Violet |
Once the plane is airborne, Violet makes a line for the shower to get clean and check herself for cuts, wounds, and scratches that will need to be treated, as well as making a full check for any hitchhiking parasites. They've just been in a jungle and attacked by Radar Snakes, she's taking nothing for granted.
Once clean and certain she doesn't need medical attention, she'll start helping out to make sure that the people on the plane are fed and cared for.
Cyber security and that sort of thing aren't anything close to her wheelhouse, and she has no ideas other than those she's already stated regarding the rest of the situation, so she's going to do what she knows how to do: help people.

"Yeah, Yeah, Kate. I get it, my obsession with the Red Man that only we can see." Pulse says, rolling her eyes, "I'm less worried about it being a cybersecurity thing where we were bugged, and more worried about it being a mole of some sort. When you guys were a super secret organization you vetted everyone and didn't really have to worry about traitors. You had cells and stuff, right? But now it's open to everyone and everything. Like, I wouldn't be surprised if our names were on some public roster." Pulse says as she finishes buckling in, handsfree with her telekinesis.
"I don't think TT would let us need to worry about being bugged or the like, unless she's just covering our home base?" she adds, looking to Kate. "So I think it's just that we more need to worry about how they found out, and if it's computer-stuff, TT should know... and if it isn't, I'm not sure how we'd go about that, and secondly, why the Magician is so interested in our group in particular. Assuming this was him."
Unlike Violet, Pulse just sits and waits until the shower is free. Despite no longer being extremely destructive to electronics, she avoids the microwave, hoping someone else will bring her something high-in-carbs. As soon as the shower is free, she's quickly in and quickly out - her suit being ferrous and her being ferrokinetic meant that she had a remarkably easy time staying clean nowadays.
Barry "Blaze" Wind |
"Really? Cool."
And maybe my POV as the man in the field might be of help, too, Barry thought.
Having been beat to the showers (and being a gentleman), he decides to make use of the microwave, heating up something with plenty of meat and fat, and then nuking something high carb to share.
Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair |
"We can look more into it when we get home, maybe we jumped back into the field too quickly. A lot has changed." Aegis sits down near Pulse, skipping the airplane meal for now. [b]"Getting some more intel of our own could be a good move."[/i]
Hotaru Hoshiko |
"Thanks Blaze." Pulse says as she starts to dig into her bowl, taking a bite, and starting to set it down, before instead turning it in her hand, so the fork stops facing her and starts facing outwards.
Pulse gives Aegis a pointed look, and holds her bowl of mandarin orange chicken out to Aegis, "Don't care if it tastes like cardboard, you haven't eaten in days. Promise I'll get you something a lot more tasty when we get home, Vi-olet can make reservations to whatever you want, and we can make it a group thing to unwind. This brand has some good Tikka Masala as well... and a stellar black truffle flatbread, if you're into that sorta thing. Probably the only good panang curry on the market, too."
Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair |
"None of us have had real food for a while." Aegis takes the bowl and sits across from Pulse. "But I can wait, we need to figure out our next move at least." She idly played with the utensil while thinking. "We missed so much in our own home and being sent out of state so quickly didn't help."
Hotaru Hoshiko |
"Well... I mean, we did sort of ask for it. I wanted to get back into the field at least. I'm not sure we were really ready." Pulse says with a small shrug as she reaches for one of the other nuked foods, pulling it towards her. "Violet didn't really have anything to deal with the snakes, Blaze did his whole... not-fire thing. My powers went on the fritz, and I'm still not sure what powers to use at any given time..." Pulse picks up another fork telekinetically and pulls it to her, as she starts to dig into the new bowl. "I don't think you or Violet had a huge power-shift like the rest of us. Are mutations like this common?" She asks, looking to Kate.
Project Violet |
There's not much Violet can say through any of this so far, but... Someone's got to put a defib on the thread...
"No changes that I've noticed, Violet offers. "But then, my powers have been slowly adapting and changing since I stopped living at the lab, so..."
She shrugs. "Changes happen whether I want them to or not?"

::"It's a rock, baby,":: Violet responds. ::"I mean, if someone's psychic, they'll know someone's using some kind of mental energy... but they probably won't know what, and listening in is a big fat nope."::
It's almost impossible to listen in on a Mindlink.
Also, Blaze's player and I are going to be at Disneyland until late Saturday. We fly down tomorrow, and we will be basically living at Galaxy's Edge until they kick us out of the park. Replies will be delayed.

::So... I'm not sure I trust anyone right now, not directly inside our group.:: Pulse thinks as she eats another bite of food, ::Call me paranoid, but I especially don't trust Toby. Maybe it's the red...:: she thinks, trailing off, it's clear she's trying to make it sound like a joke, mentally, but Pulse tended to inject humor into things that were true-but-scathing to try to cut off the edge. ::Maybe he's a total Ron, or a Hawkeye or something, but it just feels off. But mostly the Red.::
