Dig Dug!
The Rocket
Looks like max speeds are:
- Snap: 12" swing (24" non-combat) x 4 SPD = 96" / turn
- Blaze: 20" fly (40" nc) X 4 SPD = 160" / turn
- Vi: 20" fly (40" nc) X 4 SPD = 160" / turn
- Rocket: 20" run (320" nc) x 6 SPD = 1920" / turn, if I'm willing to go NC (with the risk being that I'm an easy target).
mdt: let me make sure I understand how this works before I do it:
- What's my DCV when I'm running 320" non combat? Do you calculate based on velocity or just use the standard non combat 1/2 DCV?
- Assuming I activate my rapid sight first, any concerns running sub-mach-1 in the city at this point? (e.g. can we assume that I can see cars coming in time to move around them?)
Thanks!
(And it's been a very busy few weeks. I will have tweaks later but for now lets just play with the latest sheet you put together + 5 pt MD + 3 pt teamwork)
----------EDIT----------
Just checked Ultimate Speedster p 205 and it looks like his Vel-based DCV would be 13, if you're using that rule...though his OCV would still be 0.
Also, interesting to note that at this stage, Rocket's in combat speed / phase is equal to Blaze and Vi's. Clearly it's time for him to work out more.

1) If you all go flying from your building, I must roll to see if anyone sees you/films you on their phone. I would suggest you use the bus to drive somewhere else and leave from there (like a parking garage with no cameras or something).
2) I don't use the speed based DCV because doing so breaks the OCV/DCV tables. :)
3) Divide your speed by your multiplier on your rapid sight to determine your 'effective speed'. That is, how fast you are running as far as your perceptions are concerned. For example, if you're running 1920" and your Rapid Sight is 100, you are running as if you were moving 19.2" per turn (3" per action), so basically 'slow and careful' from a 'can I end up getting hit by a car' perspective. At maximum speed you run 17KM per action (102km per turn) = 51,000" per turn, or 510" per turn as far as perception goes, which is 85" per phase running. Which means if anything within 85" of you moves unexpectedly, you could slam into it. :) You're probably better off using that on the open ocean or something. Basically, if it's closer than 85" and you can't see it, you've already run into it before you realize it.

You don't calculate it that way though. You calculate it based off a turn. You're combat movement is 6x20 = 120" per turn, theres is 4x20 = 80" per turn. You're a full 1/3rd faster than they are in combat.

Mud hops at 40" per turn in combat at 80" noncom, so a little slower than Snap
Janice "Snapdragon" Li
I thought if your jump was faster than your land speed, it takes multiple turns to hop? Or is that just D&D?
mdt
It takes one extra segment per multiplier of non-combat movement.
So, for example, if you non-combat jump on 12 with a x2 multiplier, you land on segment 1. If you jump with a x4 multiplier, you land on segment 2. x8 segment 3, etc.
"Mud" Adam Storn
Yeah. Too complicated. He has 10 inches of combat jumping. 4 speed and x2 noncom. How fast does he go?
Sounds like a word problem.
mdt
He jumps on 12, lands on 1, and travels 20 inches.
He jumps on 3, lands on 4, and travels 20 inches.
He jumps on 6, lands on 7, and travels 20 inches.
He jumps on 9, lands on 10, and travels 20 inches.
In one turn he's traveled 80 inches (160 meters, or about a football field and a half).
Be careful jumping desolid, if you land on something with a crack in it you'll shoot through the crack. :)
"Mud" Adam Storn
Got it. No hopping while desolid
Let me know when Mud arrives on stage.
cheers

If everyone waits for everyone, then Rocket and the girls will be there on 12, and one turn later, everyone else will show up other than Mud, on the next 12, and then MUD will show up on 6.
It really doesn't matter unless someone plans on going in the door before everyone arrives... so yeah, I'm guessing it's whenever you want, because I don't think anyone else is suicidal. :)
mdt
I meant "introduce" as in "say 'by the way, we're those superheroes'"
I meant her comments about injuries and hostages...
She commented earlier that the police had already gotten the hostages and injured from the door way. You're just seeing the message they put up to let the cops know what was going on.
Janice "Snapdragon" Li
Oops! I figured that was why the cops yelled at us to stop. All good then, will edit.
The Rocket
Anyone with Persuasion or high PRE want to persuade the cops not to interfere (or maybe even to help)?`
mdt
Also, Violet would have come in behind the police line, not in front of it.
If you come in behind the police line, you're within pistol range of 20 or 30 jumpy cops, with pistols drawn, anyone want to guess the chances of someone firing if people fly down out of the sky next to them? The only clear place right now is in front of the entrance to the building.
Unless you meant 'behind the barricades 3 blocks away' in which case you have jumpy police and a crowd of several hundred people who might panic if you fly in close (or if Rocket drops people close).
But if you want to change everything, I can retcon and repost.
mdt
I love that Pulse is trying to train the cops in proper procedure while they are pointing guns at Violet. :)
By the way, this is a real thing.
These cops have seen people eaten at the Superbowl, had weeks of hysteria in the press, accusations and counter accusations on tv, conflicting orders from above as the politicians have gone back and forth (and been embarassed by leaked documents), procedures changed repeatedly, seen people get shot in the face with a chain gun and shrug it off on tv, and today they are told that there are five (or ten, or fifty depending on which rumor you believe) of these walking natural disasters stealing from the Fed Reserve.
AND ONE JUST FLEW DOWN NEXT TO ME! AGGH!
Project Violet
Argh. Yeah, that puts a crimp on trying to land where they can (a) see her clearly, and (b) she can keep in their good graces by not seeming to try to get between them and the bad guys.
Good guys, in those comic books she's been reading rather a lot of to try and keep up with Pulse and Rocket, tend to make their presence known to the authorities first, by asking how they can help.
But if they're really that jumpy, then staying somewhere that they can clearly see her (but not landing until they're not about to shoot at her), is a better idea. No retcon necessary.
mdt
Yep, in a few years, that might work. Right now, they're all freaking out. Kind of like in Avengers where the cops ignored Cap until he beat the frack out of some aliens. But at least he was just a normal human (to them) when a bunch of aliens were around.
Project Violet
I changed my latest post, but preserved the content just the same. I worked on that soliloquy and I want it saved for posterity. ;)
Hotaru Hoshiko
I'll update my post in a moment.
As Pulse is Blasian, she's sort of well-versed in how all of that can go horrifyingly wrong.
And the one that got shot in the face with a chain gun is -right over there. Fuuuuh-.
Remember, also, that depending on the setting, introducing yourself to the cops doesn't always go over well - Batman v. Spiderman v. Captain America. And depending on the timeframe as well - just like now. You have to establish yourself as a superhero first, and -then- get contracted later (Or, in Vi's case, live long enough to become the villain). :P
Project Violet
I'm sure I have no idea what you're talking about.
Violet has family and friends and is loved.
No one who has those things ever becomes a villain.
That's just crazy talk.
Hotaru Hoshiko
(To keep it Marvel, swap batman for Punisher. I don't know much about the Punisher though. I figure he has a pretty hilarious interaction with the police, though. I really need to catch up with Marvel on Netflix.)
Project Violet
*whistles innocently*
Janice "Snapdragon" Li
Hmm, this escalated quickly. Time to head over to the gameplay and see what needs done (I'm not a presence attacker, hmm, maybe that would have been useful, but at least I got acting skills)
"Mud" Adam Storn
I'm sure Mud's cool, imaginative new costume will calm things down when he gets there.
Hotaru Hoshiko
Gonna be honest, I just really wanna see Rocket covered in Glitter. Though I'm not super sold on him being covered in flammable glitter of unknown origin, with unknown consequences.
What ideas do you have for Mud's costume?
Janice "Snapdragon" Li
Er... did anyone else just lose all their dots?
Janice "Snapdragon" Li
Going in! I think I just got us permission, now I'm waiting for someone else to choose which door to punch in.
Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair
Yea going to re dot everything sorry about missing those posts
Janice "Snapdragon" Li
Aww but I think Violet and Rocket and I are the only ones who actually like puns in-character?
Project Violet
Now that I can actually see the campaign threads again, I'm here to check things out! Woo!
mdt
Don't get me wrong, if Mud wants to spend two or three turns battering a hole in the big metal gate so you can go in that way, I have no problem with that either. The girls certainly won't try to stop him. The longer he takes to do things, the happier they are honestly.
The Rocket
I tried to find a rhyme for Quid. And I did.
It's hid by the invalid from Madrid with the green eyelid who slid past the grid to get rid of the acid that her grandkid forbid.
(Sorry, when it comes to rhyming I have restraint issues. And yes, invalid and acid require emphaSIS on the wrong syllaBLE.)
The Rocket
No. Sorry, I really wasn't actually attempting to critique your rhyme. Your explanation of why you chose pound made sense...and it sounded too much like a challenge and so my brain started cooking up rhymes.
My apologies if it came off as me critiquing the dialog you're writing. On the contrary, I appreciate that you're working to give NPCs distinct accents and personalities!

My family is leaving for vacation tomorrow for a week. My posting will spotty. Please bot me if you wait too long. Thanks
