We already heard that mondays post is going to be about monsters and probably how to build them and...stuff

Now what I really hope and wish for:

Monster creation rules in Core

I know it takes a few probably important pages but this would make the core rulebook really all on NEEDS to play.

In SF I was kind of bummed to find out that I had to wait for the bestiary to build mobs and encounters. COnverting was an option...but imo not a good one...

I know we're getting monsters next week, but I didn't hear that it was scheduled for Monday. I expected it to be Friday, with Wizards on Monday. Where did you hear Monsters on Monday?

Silver Crusade

I'm out & on my phone, so can't relisten right now, but I believe we heard that monsters would be "next week" (not necessarily Monday). And I don't recall hearing anything about blog discussion of building monsters. So if I am remembering correctly, you might need to adjust your expectations. Listen here.

Am I misremembering? Or do you have a different source?

EDIT: I wasn't misremembering. All that's said is "monsters coming next week."

I wouldnt hold my breath on getting CRB monster building rules.

The CRB will almost certainly not get monster building rules, what with all the extra pages needed for classes, ancestries, skills and equipment compared to PF1. HOWEVER, I do think we might actually get animal "monster" stats in the CRB, if my prediction holds true about mounts and animal companions just being actual animals you level up instead of puny approximations of animals. It'd make sense to have all the most common animals in the CRB, and save room in the bestiary for actual monsters.

Liberty's Edge

As a matter of fact the CRB will contain a set of rules suitable for building adversaries: The PC Rules.

They've specifically noted that PC rule characters of appropriate level will be valid challenges and match up well with monsters of the same level. So you can use them to make adversaries just fine.

Now, for the non-PC rules adversaries, you're going to need to wait for the Bestiary, but it's still better than Starfinder got (since you can't use the PC rules for NPCs and enemies in Starfinder).

And I am very very VERY thankful that that works again.

That is basically the only thing I actually HATE about starfinder. You couldn't do much until the first bestiary came out. Which was pretty cool, I admit. And the monster creation rules there are solid.
But sometimes I miss creating NPCS like PCs
