Pooka Look cute to me. All fey are typically deeply annoying.

Could I be LN and take the Imp? Sounds like I have to be LE?

LN, LE, or NE

When choosing a familiar, the creatures listed here are also available to you. You may choose a familiar with an alignment up to one step away on each alignment axis (lawful through chaotic, good through evil).

You can always skip the Greater Spell Focus in my build I posted and Grab Improved Familiar for the Imp Consular which has telepathy.

I think that's what I'll do thank you!

If using a familiar to wand of ill omen creatures bear in mind that it will only affect their next d20 roll. If following up with a spell that could very easily be a spellcraft check to identify what you are casting and as such you are not guaranteed to impose the penalty on their save. It also allows SR.

Personally I would still go with Persistent spell, it lets you drop very hard to avoid spells without waiting a round for misfortune or ill omen. I use it on my Witch for aoe effects, glitterdust, stinking cloud, hallucinogenic smoke, fear etc are all great choices for control.

Persistent is my favourite rod in the game as you can afford it before you can make good spells persistent with the feat 9000gp.

Silver Crusade

Yeah, I picked up a lesser persistent rod for my sorcerer around level 8. I mostly use it with Glitterdust - very effective, especially since I have Greater Spell Focus for conjuration.

The shaman in our Giantslayer campaign has a pooka familiar. Besides the fact that the pooka is a fantastic scout, it's also better at several skills the shaman sucks at. It regularly mocks him. Indeed, I'm convinced the pooka believes the shaman is HIS familiar, not the other way around.

I have seen a level 6 sorcerer with one. Persistent slow, burst of radiance, or glitter dust destroyed combats.

I agree with the latter half of your statement. Less so the first.

Yeah they kind look weird to me. If mockingfey could speak I'd pick one of those though. But they just warble mindlessly from what I remember.

Pooka can shape change into other small animals as well. So it can be a Raven sitting on your shoulder using telepathy to talk to you, delivering touch attacks and messages to team mates silently.

I think they are nifty.

I love this list! Only thing is should I get those cold spells with rime if we have an alchemist who's getting tanglefoot and frost bombs?

Frost bomb is actually a busy when I took it. Different damage but I was more into Tangelfoot, curse, and Force bombs.

But of course because he can only effect a small radius while flurry of snowballs and cone of cold cover much more area and damages the whole radius equally.

Entangled is a brutal debuff for both casters and melees. It also gives you something to counter a spell caster with. They begin casting and you slam a rime snowball to the face...they need 2 concentration checks just to maintain the spell.

Honestly you can never have too much control as long as it comes with damage and in this case the two of you will make combats a breeze for your melee guys.

Louise, if I can get Rime Spell at 3, the only issue is it takes up a spell slot +1 higher than it. Doesn't that mean I could only use with level 1 spells like Snowball, frostbite etc. I couldn't use it yet with level 2 spells correct? And once I'm level 5 do I want to be using a Rime level 2 spell instead of a level 3 spell like Stinking Cloud or Bestow Curse?

Get a rod. For most uses of metamagic a rod will do. They are limited uses/day but typically they are sufficient and don’t burn a higher slot. Heighten, blasting metamagic and others you will use over and over require you to take the feat to be effective. If you will be using them selectively though, get rods. A single big control spell should swing a fight save the rods for those.

You have the right idea often the metamagic spells are weaker than the spells of the level they are being cast from but sometimes they are correct for environment or target the save you want so you prep them anyway. Other times you’re built to make a particular metamagic spell combo strong so they are really good. See dazing builds.

Is Scribe scroll a viable feat for a witch?
