is Cayden Cailean Domain Liberation or not! Help me make the perfect cleric!!

Rules Questions

I got invited to Kingmaker, and i want to make a Chaotic Good
Cleric of Cayden Cailean

But i also want the Domains of travel and liberation.

Checking the domains, he only has travel,

So I was going to choose travel and Charm (love)

But then I found a wiki that showed him as travel and liberation
That would put me right where I want it!

http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Cayden_Cailean

Which is it?

Per Inner Sea Gods, he does not have the liberation domain.
looks like that wiki is incorrect.
If you're looking for a pathfinder wiki, I would recommend either Archives of Nethys, or pathfinderwiki.com

Domains Chaos, Charm, Good, Strength, Travel

Is there any way/ Archetype to get it?

It depends on the text; in some books he does, in others he doesn't.

He absolutely should, in my opinion, but it was removed in Inner Sea Gods to presumably give him the same number of domains as other deities (5 instead of 6.)

In my opinion, they removed the wrong domain, however, and there's a Developer response on another thread that essentially admits to its removal being a mistake.

He's the god of Freedom, he should certainly have Liberation and the Freedom subdomain.

Ultimately, however, it depends on the game you're playing in.

As far as PFS is concerned, he doesn't have it. Most home games I see granting it, however. Best talk with the GM.

The specific wiki you linked to (hosted by Wikia) is severely out of date and not monitored by an active staff of administrators for factual inaccuracies. For an up-to-date article on Cayden Cailean (including his corrected domains) see http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Cayden_Cailean.

Yeah, talking to the GM and pointing out its a developer error-he'll probably be cool with it

I had no idea they removed it, that's baffling given who he is. Yeah, just talk to your gm, and hope that developers admitting it was a mistake is enough.

In addition, of course, another CG deity does have both those Domains, Desna. ;)

Desna is the best, except her favored weapon is real wonky.

I've played a half-orc inquisitor of her (half-orc, so used greataxe) and a 5th Edition hill dwarf Life cleric of her (so uses butterfly-winged battle axe or warhammer).

Well, the issue is that they went to a standardized 5 Domains per deity setup when they went to Pathfinder, with required Alignment domains.

Given that...which of Cayden Cailean's Domains would you ditch?

Strength, Charm, and Travel are all pretty relevant, too.

Here's the other thread I was referring to in which Deadmanwalking suggested a rather insightful list of domains that could be seen as missing - some of them are as egregious as Cayden not having Liberation - and Sean K. Reynolds essentially says him not having it is "dumb".

Shouldn't Cayden Cailean have the Liberation Domain?

Were it up to me, I'd remove Charm instead, it's not really directly related to his portfolio.

Yeah. Using the list of Extra Domains I posted there is certainly what I do. Works fine and doesn't unbalance anything. I mean, the Cleric still only gets two, y'know?

And thanks for calling me insightful. :)

I would think that the Charm domain would have been the one to go and not Liberation from the god of freedom.

I would not have done something as boneheaded as standardizing to 5 domains per deity with required alignment domains. There's no reason to have either restriction. Gods are neither possible PCs nor possible combat challenges. There's no reason for them to need to be balanced. Clerics still only get two domains. And alignment domains are a ripoff for lawful or chaotic deities. Only good is useful for heroes because of the alignment distribution of villains and only evil is useful for villains because of the alignment distribution of heroes.

They removed it to keep him from being a carbon copy of Desna who has both domains.

If you want to argue that they should have taken it away from Desna instead, that's a whole other kettle of fish to boil!
