What is the Golarion equivalent to your modern job?

Slightly off topic type of wizard:

On a related note:

Would you prefer to be a D&D wizard or a Dresden Universe Wizard?

I love this avatar/picture combo.

i only know of the dresden dolls, and I'm unsure what that entails, other than they wrote a song I liked

The Dresden Files, a series of books about a Wizard in modern times.

Hrm.. Warrior with a few levels of Expert and the amateur gunslinger feat with the Quick Clear Deed and ranks in Knowledge (engineering), Profession (Airman), Survival, and some in Use Magic Device.

I'm in the US Air Force and I load the munitions on the aircraft and maintain the aircraft's weapons system. (Profession: Airman, Knowledge: Engineering. Now more of a shift supervisor so I don't actually load anymore. Survival because I'm used to working in the elements, and Use Magic Device because we are now becoming a 'paperless' Air Force... Maybe some ranks in Heal (duct tape does wonders for cuts when out on a job, and we are taught how to do combat first aid yearly).

Despite people pumping up their resume, let's ignore the trend of 'technical = magical' that people have going on.

I'm a dispatch field engineer. I fix computers, networking equipment, and printers for a living.

In Golarion terms?

Profession (Tinker).

I tried that website listed a few posts ago. It was fun.

Wrong, but fun. ;)
It listed me as a 6th level Human Cleric. Nope.
But according to the details I must have answered a couple of questions wrong, because it ALMOST got it right.

I am a Halfling bard. :)
(Ok, I'm a little heavy for my height.) ;P

I would likely be a Bard 6/Expert3/Fighter(monk)1, (?)
Currently working at a University in the Bardic Department, managing the performance venue.
with skill points in;
Performance (Singing, acting, dancing, staged combat, instruments)
Acrobatics,
Craft:(Sets, Props & lighting instruments/stage equipment)
1 point in craft:(Alchemy)
Profession: (Manager, Director, technician, actor)
Bluff,
Diplomacy,
Skill Focus (paperwork & Getting the job done)

IRL, I have 3 degrees in Theater, years of experience working in theater venues (technician & Performer), have taken martial arts, and currently work at a University managing the performance venue.

So, yeah. :/

I have no idea how to work it out... I'm a software UX designer for a company that writes software for Cinemas.

So if the developers are wizards, then I'm the guy who inspires the wizards, and shows them which spells to cast to make their customers/victims happy. Although sometimes I have to be the wizard too...

So multiclass bard/wizard?

Information Management...so Profession: Scribe.

No magic here. :P

I'm a software engineer.... so I guess I would be one of those wizards who sits in a tower all day creating custom spells for clients. With a golem making hobby, since I like painting/crafting miniatures ;)

Another Numerian technomancer here.

Or, since I sew in my spare time, tailor. That might have better life expectancy than meddling with Numerian tech and Technic League politics.

I'm a copyeditor and writer with a degree in library science, so I'd be a scribe/archivist. Maybe also a few bard levels, since most of what I write is fiction. Most of my skill ranks went into Knowledge (history [random facts]).

I would be the one screaming messages on streets for coins. :(
(No, my real job is not to send spam.)

Hmmm... Best I could come up with would be an Empiricist/Slueth Investigator / Constable Cavalier. Maybe with some Ranger mixed in somewhere. (Deputy Sheriff)

Investigative Alchemist. I have degrees in chemistry (BS), toxicology (BS), and forensics (MS).

Currently work as a chemist for a production plant which makes products that allow other chemists to do their job well (for you other chemists out there, we make sample prep products and GC columns). So in Golarion we'd be making products that allow other alchemists to identify the components of potions, I guess. Golarion does really have the mass production infrastructure of the modern world, so I'd really have to fall back on my training, which brings me back to an investigative alchemist.

Chronically under-employed, over-educated, born and raised in Alaska in the 1980s...

2 levels of ranger (with no bow proficiency, but firearm proficiency instead), Favored Enemy: Animals, and basic Two-Weapon fighting from my childhood, the winter I spent teaching in Kobuk, and four years of Modern Arnis in college. 1 level of Urban Druid thanks to the nature of the seasonal work I put in with the local Parks and Rec department. Pad out with Expert levels including multiple instances of Knowledge: Useless (as well as History, Nature, Religion).

Does the printing press exist in Golarion, if so I'd be a letterer.

If not I guess I'd be the person who paints inn signs, maybe.

I think that would make me a scribe for the church of Asmodeus.

I'm currently a librarian, but I used to be an archivist and some of what I do is not all that much different.

Middle School Teacher so...Profession (Fool)? Profession (Torturer)? Craft: (adult)

The first one. I always told my brother the middle school teachers were either suicidal or couldn't get a job with elementary or high school (former elementary teacher here, had to poke the bear!)

Well, I'm currently a full-time student aiming for psychologist...I'm not quite sure how that translates.

I am pagan, very devout, and worship Lady Luck...so maybe Cleric of Desna? Being the local confessor and helping people through their problems is what I intend to do with my life, after all.

So, yeah, Expert 1 or 2/Cleric of Desna 1 in training to become a local priest somewhere and help people out.
