@Petracleus: It's up to you whether you want to re-build as a paladin. Assuming that I have enough entries to have to make choices, I'd probably be disinclined to pick two characters that occupy the same design space.

@Meriick: Yeah, I think I know him too...

@Waaaghinator: I noticed that Aymhen is listed as a PFS character. Obviously this isn't a PFS game, so you won't get any PFS credit for playing here.

Everyone: Feel free to tweak your submissions before the deadline!

Hey, I know that other guy in the fighter slot! He's crazy!

I'm quite certain I have no idea what you are talking about, lady Crystal. I'm also probably not stealing a prison food shipment while everyone else tries to find the vampire that kidnapped you.

Just sayin.

Right on. I had Aymehn's core ideas drawn up and registered in anticipation of using him as a PFS character. I understand he'll receive no society credit. No worries here.

I'm thinking a good old elven blaster wizard... Level 5 is perfect for a nicely balanced, fireball-throwing, supercilious, pointy-eared, tree-loving elf.

*Gets to work on a suitably retro concept.

Here is The_Lake's submission, Marcus Antonius Minimus, Halfling Paladin.

So...we have fighters / paladins... It'll take me a day to sort out...but I think that Petracleus will be Fighter 2 / Bard 3 - that way, I can still have some sword swinging fun but I won't be stepping on other folk's toes... My Perform (Dance) +9 should see to that at least!!!

Looking like a good crop of proposals so far...

Petracleus' profile is now much closer to how I envisage him - still got Spells and Equipment left to do - and I want to Golarion-ise his backstory a little as well... But hopefully there is enough there for the GM to see whether he is headed in the right direction...

I decided not to go for a sorcerer, but for a wizard.

The build has a few rough edges on it, which I will fix this week.

Aymehn is essentially finished at this point. Let me know if you have feedback or questions prior to the deadline. Thanks!

I think I am ready. Let me know if I missed anything.

I'll work up a wizard to give the GM something to decide between for arcane support. Give me a few to get it posted.

Twigs here! Paizo went down on me when I wanted to make my submission but luckily I actually saved my statblock for a change.

I was hoping to submit Shackleton as an arcane trickster and Pathfinder. A loud, bombastic character that enjoys brisk jogs, spirited debates and the vigorous life. (Modeled somewhat on Mustrum Ridcully and Teddy Roosevelt). I've never been partial to "happy go lucky" gnomes, but rather prefer them to be a little bit alien, and their tricky natures just forged out of sheer pragmatism, getting by in a big, bad, hostile world. Somewhat skeptical about the power of the supernatural, I'm looking forward to Ravenloft taking him down a peg.

He's focused on sneak attacking with touch-spells and making heavy use of wands and scrolls. Essentially how one would survive the brutal lower levels on a Thief PC in the Baldurs Gate series (practically my only exposure to early editions). Such a build is also possible with the major magic ability if there's any concern about Shackleton's effectiveness (this is an awkward level for arcane tricksters and I'll only get a single level in the class) I can rebuild him as a straight rogue, but I'm fairly confident he can pull his own weight as a skill-heavy PC and supplemental magic-user.

Also uncertain how many spells I should have in my spellbook based on your house-ruling, so I've left that and my scroll and holy water purchases unfilled.

This is WhtKnt, and I'd like to present for your consideration, Countessa De'Ambraith, wizardess and adventurer. As for myself, I am a solid poster (check any of my other games) and can post at least once per day. I am familiar with the adventure (having run it several times), but am perfectly capable of separating player and character knowledge and will do so to preserve the fun. I've been playing D&D or some derivative of it for nearly 34 years and I am a very immersive player. I never read spoilers that aren't intended for me or that my character could not otherwise be expected to have knowledge of and I expect the same courtesy of my fellow players.

Countessa isn't royalty; that's just her name. Born the daughter of a prominent wizard in the Taldoran capitol, she was given the best her father could offer; an education. She learned quickly and took to magic naturally. When she was of age, she was enrolled in the school for the Art.

It was in her 16th year that her brother went missing. An adventurer, he was last known to be in the country of Ustalav. He had been keeping in touch with the family as regularly as his travels would aloow, and thus his absence was noticed quite quickly. When the news reached her, Countessa wanted to go immediately to search for him, but her father convinced her to finish her studies, stating that she could do more good as a fully-trained wizard than an apprentice.

She did as her father bade, finishing her studies and graduating a full practioner of the Art. It was then that she set out in search of her brother, Andrevich. Her journies have brought her to Ustalav, the last known location of her missing brother.

A few boo-boos in Shackleton's profile regarding hit dice and caster level. Just missed the window to edit. His hp should be 3d8+2d6+18 (44 hp) and caster level one lower.

Will check back in with a backstory rough shortly, but will likely want to integrate it with that of the other PCs.

All wizard characters: I am updating the starting spells calculation. Wizards start the minimum number of spells in their spellbooks. So, that means at first level, you'd start play with all cantrips from CRB, plus four 1st-level spells, plus additional spells equal to your Int modifier (Int as it was at 1st wizard level). You then gain an additional two spells in your spellbook of any spell level you can cast each time you gain a wizard level. If you want to have more spells than that to choose from, you may use your starting wealth to buy spell scrolls at standard prices, and spend and the copying costs. (We'll just assume that the copying was successful.)

Everyone: Re: Backstory: Please have a backstory that leads up to the start of your adventuring career, especially what made your character want to become an adventurer. After character selection, we can all work together to put together a history of the party before we actually start play.

Everyone: Re: Format: Please have your character information in a character alias before the submission deadline. Also, please put your info together in something akin to a standard Pathfinder stat block. (I think everyone's done that so far, but I want to make that explicit.) Doing so makes your character much easier to read while I'm making my decisions over the weekend.

@WhtKnt: Thanks for letting me know! I'm generally fine with running experienced players through adventures they've been through or run as a GM before.

@Twigs: I think the wizard note above might answer your question about starting spells ;-)

Here he is

Apparently paizo went down and it ate my previous post, so if this is a repeat for some reason, I apologize.

Seeking clarification RE: the character alias requirement.

Specifically, Aymehn is currently statted out as a PFS character. Are you asking for him to be copied over to an Alias that is not a PFS character, or are you copacetic with him posting as a PFS character without seeking any PFS credit, prestige, etc.?

Thanks.

Dotting to go along for the ride!

Backstorified!

It was an easy fix either way.

Submitting Elias for consideration. I just found this thread, and rushed to put Elias together - I'd have written a more complex background, but I ran out of time!

@William Nightwing: Please provide a more-or-less standard-format Pathfinder stat block in your alias. You can see one of my PbP characters for a format guide. You don't need to hyperlink everything like I did; I do that so I have a quick reference to the relevant rules when I'm playing.

I also see that you're submitting a necromancer. The school of necromancy is not inherently evil, but creation of undead is so. At my table, creating undead via magic such as animate dead is an evil act, and doing so more often than once or twice will have alignment repercussions. This game assumes non-evil PCs; PCs that turn evil will become NPCs.

@Waaghinator: Your submission is fine. There are a few submissions with stat blocks that seem to be only in this thread itself. It will be easier for me to go over submissions if you have your PC's alias together.

Character submissions are open for another day.

Please let me know if you have any questions before then. I do want to say that I can already see that I'm going to have a very hard time picking just 6 characters!

Grand Lodge

As a note, I am still interested but have yet to create an alias. Given the number I have (21 PFS characters...)I'm trying to limit the number I create.

If needed I'll flesh out the backstory a bit more, but my understanding was more detailed ones would be done once the group is sorted.

@Michael Meuiner: Oh, okay. That makes sense. No problem.

Everyone: I was planning to go over the submissions last night and send off any questions, but didn't get to it. I'll start doing that tonight. I expect to announce decisions Monday or Tuesday.

Submissions are now closed. The completed submissions are:

I'll start reviewing characters tonight. If I have questions, I'll send a PM. I expect to announce selections on Monday or Tuesday.

All of these characters seem great at first glance. It's going to be a very hard choice!

Okay, character reviews are done. I have a few outstanding questions to some players. Once I have those answers, I'll make my final decisions.

Upon further reflection, I have enough information to make my decisions.

Would the following characters please report to the Discussion thread:

Merrick Renarin
Verran of Pharasma
Aymehn Al-Thorin
Countessa D'Ambraith
Daimon Kush
Petracleus

Thanks so much to everyone that was interested. I wish I could have offered a slot to everyone.
