Itching for Rise of the Runelords

I've got a dream to one day play a grand mass-campaign, playing through Rise of the Runelords, Curse of the Crimson Throne, Second Darkness, Jade Regent and Shattered Star and build a kind of personal canon, where the effects of decisions the PCs made in one AP may be seen in another, or even former PCs making cameos in later APs. But my GMing sucks. I'm not sure what the polite way to do something like this on the boards is.

You play in them. There are, I believe, several Rise of the Runelords games up for recruitment now, though the others don't seem to get as much love.

Barring that, just run with that. You don't need to be a perfect GM for the party to have fun. And by the end of the first AP, you'll probably be pretty good!

Best of luck though, that would be an epic canon storyline by the end of it, I'm sure!

Actually the last recruitment thread for Rise of the Runelords has now mostly concluded(The GM is still looking for one more character, divine caster to be exact) so at the moment no there aren't any Rise of Runelords game recruiting for players.

I would suggest you begin with RotRL Zousha, and after you conclude that game you can ask your players to bring in new characters for another campaign(If you feel like running one after you are done with the first) that way you are not making any promises, you are simply asking if people want to play RotRL, if the game is concluded, most if not all will probably have no problem with going into another campaign with you as the gm(Especially if they stuck around from the beginning till the end).

Here's the thing, I want to PLAY, not GM. If I GM I can't play a character.

So your asking if someone would like to commit to like 10 years of GM-ing? Lol

Considering I'm in a slow PbP of RotRL right now, I could be convinced to GM a campaign for it...

I'd need time to prepare, though.

PbP.

And I'm not asking for someone to commit to 10 years. I'd settle for Rise of the Runelords right now. Maybe something with multiple GMs running simultaneously, but then the APs are standalone...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Even a single AP is a multi-year commitment in PbP format.

multi-year, not if I was running it, I would push it forward and I could get it done within a year. The quality wouldn't be as good for rushing it, but it can be done.

I'm more than willing to wait. :)

That's two months per book in a format that usually takes at least a week of posts to accomplish an hour's worth of table play. Some regular tabletop groups take longer than that to play an AP chapter; and I would assume that the norm is at least a month.

If you're interest in a Divine healer, I'm looking for one in my campaign.
