I was born with 4 arms do I get any bonuses to skill checks

Advice

I am making a custom race with 4 arms I was wondering if any gm's ever have bonuses to things like slieght of hand or lock picking or any others

Any other skills you think should or could get a bonus for having multiple arms

Perhaps a racial trait to Dex for a bonus, otherwise not particularly. Still only 1 mind directing those arms. Or put another way does an Octopus get any large bonuses for merely having 8 arms? Maybe allow access to Multiattack and Multiweapon Fighting. Are we discussing a player available race or GM material only?

Both originally just a gm char I was gonna play as a bard in the group but other pc said he wants to play one as well as a wizard (was gonna run three specs based off skin color) green magic (wis or int based) blue melee (dex or str based) and purple (cha based my char bard) was thinking for stats a +2+2-2 that can be put in any stat

And could go with two minds (two heads 4 arms sounds fun) but then comes negative stuff of he might get confused what of you confuse/knock out one mind. And so on so yes still one mind

Maybe a racial bonus to Climb or Swim checks?

Being a bard with two heads... Go with comedy ... Have the two heads argue about how weak the opponent is (or how strong the allies are ) or ave the heads argue during a important mission (meet with the mayor to gain his trust)

That... sounds like it makes all other races obsolete.

I don't know, I think an octopus would have a bonus for slight of hand. Can't very well watch all eight tentacles at once, can you?

I don't think the single mind thing is an issue. If they were born two-armed then suddenly grew an extra pair, yeah I can see coordination being tricky just till you get used to them but not if you're born with them.

If the extra arms function like regular limbs (or regular parts of the body) they'll be chock full of proprioceptors in the ligaments at all of the joints. Those are the little doohickies that tell your brain where all the parts of your body are in space. (they're why you can find your nose with your eyes closed, for example) A race born with extra limbs's nervous system will have adapted to it long ago and their brains, while still singular, would easily be able to handle the extra input. Heck, OUR brains probably could figure it out pretty fast, if we ever figured out a way to get new limbs.

So a creature with four fully functioning arms probably could pull off some fancy handsy stuff. Ever find yourself absent mindedly throwing an orange in the air and catching it without even looking? Imagine what you could do with four arms without having to look. Definitely give them at least a circumstantial bonus to slight of hand when juggling fruits.

I agree with Tonyz on the climb check, and Kayer on the MWF.

Here's what I'd suggest.
+2 to Dex, Int, -2 to Con
+2 to Climb and Acrobatics

Here's a page for creating new races if you haven't already seen it.

Other than that, I'd use Kasathas as groundwork for what you want.

Sorry for the link. I couldn't find the link for the race itself, so you'll have to scroll down for the info on it.

Although, there is this, too.

Now I really want to see 2 players playing as 2 halves of the same 2 headed person. This comes to mind.

Don't think Sleight of Hand or Lockpicking would get any bonuses. having more arms doesn't make you better at using them for fine movements.

Should have a bonus to Grapple though.

According to the advanced race guide, 2 extra arms would set you back 8 out of 10 race points. It is a monstrous ability though.

The "+2, +2, -2 pick whatever stat you like" would be a bad idea. I'd either go with the human heritage or standard. Although, I'd also like the idea of high dexterity and strength, so specialized could be an option. The strength and dexterity would help with things like grappling and climbing. Although you could go for a bonus on some skills. That would be 2 race points.

I could definitely see a bard using one hand to cast spells, one hand to hold a weapon and two hands to play the lute...

"Too many cooks spoil the broth." There reaches a point where having extra hands provides no tangible benefit and may even be a hindrance if you try to employ them all at once. For example, you can't hold a Longhammer with 4 hands and expect it to perform better (in fact, it would probably be very awkward to swing).

We had an ettin in one game with each head played by diffrent players. One head was named Juan and the other was Amal. Their famous quote was. "if you've seen Juan you've seen Amal."

+5 to super-cheesy checks

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Racial +2 to Initiative and +2 to Perception.

Because Four(fore)-armed is forewarned. :o *runs for cover*

Okies seriously...you don't have to add anything at all. I do +1 the suggestion on creating new races if you really want to.

And for Ghu's sake...you're not thinking Gunslinger are you? Because you just enabled that super-max cheese with reloading.
