Shelyn: "The Rose" - I'm partial to Leanne Rimes' version, though Bette Midler made it famous.

I was just thinking this the other day! The Rose fits Shelyn wonderfully.

I've been on a bit of a Shelyn kick lately, and she is fast becoming my second favorite deity of the setting. Some other songs I think fit her are...

The Last Rose of Summer by Celtic Woman.

Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey.

The classic Greensleeves. I prefer a harp version!

Lastly, For the Love of a Princess from the Braveheart soundtrack.

And in case anyone is interested, I recently asked James Jacobs about Shelyn's holy symbol...

:
The rainbow-feathered songbird was actually a real animal of Golarion, native to Azlant and possibly called the Muse Thrush, but went extinct with Earthfall.

For Calistria, maybe the theme for Aphrodite's Chamber from God of War III. Here is another version.

Pharasma: "Oh Death" - Jen Titus

I also like this!

One of her titles is even 'the Eternal Rose,' after all. :) Not to derail too much, I hope, but I particularly like Shelyn because she's a love-and-beauty goddess who emphasizes more than romantic love and physical beauty. Love between friends, familial love, love for pets... basically, the best and most selfless parts of our nature, everything that's positive and runs deep - and so necessarily has the potential for immense grief. To me it seems that "The Rose" is speaking about all of those as well, right down to being the answer to a warning against "giving your heart to a dog to tear." (With apologies to Mr. Kipling.)

The Last Rose of Summer by Celtic Woman.

Wow, I'd never heard "The Last Rose of Summer" before, and it's gorgeous. The lyrics are so melancholy, almost fatalistic, that I wonder if it might also be suited for Naderi, the Neutral minor goddess who used to be Shelyn's assistant and is now patron of romantic suicides. I like the rest of your suggestions too!

I can't decide if "Every step you take" should go to Norgorber or Zon-Kuthon...

And now I try to reimagine Zon-Kuthon to fit "Englishman In New York"...

Despite it probably more appropriate for Desna...

Shadow Lodge

Black Parade for my girl Milani. Defiant til the end we hear the call.

For Gozreh, Last of the Wilds

More coming.

For reasons I can't fathom I always picture an almost thematically Arabic Trader version of Abadar to Just You and I by dZihan & Kamien..

The story of Shelyn and her brother, conversely, is always backgrounded by Smile, also by dZihan & Kamien.

Though most people would disagree, and likely have a disgust for the genre, I can't help but hear the song from the Trailer for Borderlands 2 and hear and see in my head the most nightmarish battle against the spawn of the Rough Beast. After all, where Rovagug is concerned, it doesn't matter if the year isn't 2808 - he still invokes visions of (Nero's) DOOMSDAY. (With in my head at least, the end part being a BAD END for Golarion involving the Rough Beast hatching from the middle of the ocean and the battle being a mythic fight for the ages that would bring to mind at the VERY least the fight versus Vlitra from Asura's Wrath.

Also, silly little thing though it is, I know it's less the Gods themselves, but I could see a squad of Shelyn's Paladins venturing forth to Mika - We Are Golden (Bob Sinclair remix edit).

Desna's a given, even if one does not see the Forest for the Trees in the Dream.

I started to think to which deity King Of Bling would fit. My conclusion was that I can't recall any setting which would have decent (in a metaphorical sense) deities of decadent nobility (no, Slaanesh does not count), spendthrift and/or capricious generosity.

Just a fun little thought experiment I had, I've delved through my music library in an attempt to find the songs that I feel best represent Golarion's big 20 deities! Listening to tone and taking lyrics into account, here's my list.

Abadar: Let Legend Mark Me As the King, by Christoper Lee (it's only a clip, but I can't find the whole song, and the snippet at least captures the feel that made me link the song to Abadar)
Asmodeus: March of Mephisto, by Kamelot
Calistria: In the Middle of the Night, by Within Temptation
Cayden Cailean: Bring Us More Beer, by The Poxy Boggards
Desna: Starfall, by Dragonland
Erastil: Fire at Midnight, by Jethro Tull
Gorum: Indestructible, by Disturbed
Gozreh: Touch the Sky, by Julie Fowlis
Iomedae: Cry Thunder, by DragonForce
Irori: I'll Make a Man Out of You, performed by Donny Osmond.
Lamashtu: Dance With the Demon, by Majesty
Nethys: Mystery, by Dio
Norgorber: Blind Leading the Blind, by Axenstar
Pharasma: Serenade, by Kamelot
Rovagug: Into the Fire, by Sabaton
Sarenrae: Millenium Sun, by Angra
Shelyn: What Kind of Love, by Avantasia
Torag:...

I think the song "Deep Cuts the Knife" by Helix is perfect for Norgorber

Perhaps, "Can I play With Madness" by Iron Maiden for Lamashtu
"Battle Hymn of the Republic"- Stryper did a version, screams Iomede
"Temptation" by Y&T works for Calistra
"Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera works for Shelyn
I need to think a little more on the rest.

Urgathoa: The Veil of Isis by The Sword

Grand Lodge

Great thread!

I got a couple for Cayden Cailean:

The Real McKenzies and their ode to the common manDrink Some More

"Pickled" is a good one, too, but I couldn't find a good video for it.

"Can I play with madness" (and a few other Iron Maiden songs) sounds to me more like Zon-Kuthon than Lamashtu...

Silver Crusade

Dou-Bral : "Dark Heart Dawning" by BT

Because expectations were made to be defied sometimes. :)

Liberty's Edge

I couldn't resist:

The official anthem of Shelynite paladins and inquisitors: "Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benatar

Alternately, for the gunslinging-types "The Warrior" by Patty Smyth

Liberty's Edge

For Zon-Kuthon: "Demons" by Imagine Dragon. A good song for what I imagine his thoughts are towards his sister Shelyn.

For Iomedae: "Shake it Out" by Florence + The Machine. Which is what I imagine captured here thoughts and feelings as she entered the Cathedral of Starstone and made her ascension.

Silver Crusade

FINALLY found something for Trelmarixian: "Toxic Love" by Tim Curry :3

Smashing Pumpkins: Tonight-Tonight for Desna.

Nocticula - Magdalena by A Perfect Circle.

Socothbenoth - The Hollow by A Perfect Circle.

Urgathoa or Zura - Living Dead Girl by Rob Zombie.

Urgathoa, Zura, and undead in general - One More Soul to the Call from the Silent Hill series.

Desna - Counting Stars by One Republic.

Demons, Devils, the Worldwound, and evil outsiders - Seven Devils by Florence + The Machine.

Some (mostly) lyric-free music:

Asmodeus, Chelaxian version: Wardogs by Juno Reactor

Nethys of Garund: Zwara by Juno Reactor

Pharasma: Navras by Juno Reactor, for that Gothic-Not-European sound

Zon-Kuthon: Tundra by Delerium (it's a song that builds, just let it play in the background and see)

Torag: Embodying by Delerium (just imagine the Quest for Sky set to this!)

Ghlaunder: Of The Tribe by Delerium

Silver Crusade

I think the OP might be me, judging by his taste in music.

Iomedae's song

Would make Cayden proud

Abadar: Guile's Theme - Street Fighter II
Asmodeus: Guile's Theme - Street Fighter II
Calistria: Guile's Theme - Street Fighter II
Cayden Cailean: Guile's Theme - Street Fighter II

There are lot of good music, but are these all playable by your bard as they sound (electrical instruments etc)?

If Ghost sound, Unseen Servant, Prestigidation (to distort voice) can be used for creating any kind of music, can 1-lvl wizard repeat and play 20-lvl masterpiece he had seen, with leaves bard jobles as they get replaced by low level jukeboxes.

Dark Archive

Shelyn - Love changes everything
Milani - Do you hear the people sing
Sarenrae - In diesen heil'gen Hallen

Just as many people say that concerts are more engrossing than the recorded versions, so to are bardic performances better than wizardry reproductions. Just think, would you rather listen to your favorite performer live or on your car's radio?

Lantern Lodge

How about "Last Week's Minutes from the Meeting of the Secret Society of Friends Who Actually Hate You" by drowningman for Norgorber? Or is that too obvious for the Reaper of Reputation?
