I should be posting as normal except for the weekend tranches. I will drop right off the radar though from 23JUNE12 for a month. No internetz for me for a month... no phones, no calls home, nothing but banging rocks together for communication.

That is why we have RFC 1149!

Apparently the ice and snow we will be experiencing makes such methods less reliable. I believe most comms will be handled by the "Mk1 Smoke Signal".

Hey ya sonuvab*tch, ya say that to mah f*ckin' face, yeah? Not my thrice-damned t*ts!

I love you, Tark, really.

You'd be pissed too if you were brought down to 5 hp by something you could probably summon if you were an evil piece of sh*t, too. I mean, another summoning cleric? who freaking knew?

Could be worse. I had a fellow player character who loved to use corpse explosion. After I made the first corpse, it blew up in my face, I failed my (good) save and died.

At least the NPC cleric isn't your ally.

Stress relief is an important part of life. It keeps our bare existing from getting too hot and boiling away. Axes, swords, and other sharp things are great ways at taking stressful things and making them into smaller, less stressful pieces.

Outside the stress relief aspect, Our Lord in Iron teaches that life is battle. We should make the most of our meager existence and let steel clash from time to time.

And this is the scariest part of the entire AP... when we as one turn to Castor and beg him to help Pollux carry our sorry butts through the entire rehearsal.

Please o' omnipotent and callous dicebot - make our deranged tea lover roll true.

Tal will just sit in the wings waiting for his turn. Good luck all.

Male Orc Expert 5

Ah that is true you are not available until act 2. So im just waiting on Pollux and Petronicus.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Inquisitor of Milani (Preacher archetype) 4

Managed to miss it by a week - but Happy Thread Anniversary!

May 13th marked the passage of a full year of real time that we've spent in Tark's gentle embrace seeking somewhat ineffectually to change the course of Westcrown's destiny.

A big thanks to TarkXT for taking the time to be our overlord over this last year, and here's to another year of gallivanting to come.

Caldazar wrote:

Seconded.

Great group of regular posters despite losing Tok and Sclivian during the campaign. Some nice editions to the family as well with Tal and Petronicus.

Its kind of a funny thing, CoT was one of my least favorite APs before playing it. Between Tark's very capable hands and the way that the characters have been fleshed out during the campaign, it has become one of my favorites.
Kudos to Tark for dealing with the insanity that is the Nobles group and kudos to the rest of my compatriots for making some really interesting and well developed characters. This is definitely one of those campaigns I will be talking about years from now with fond memories.

Male Orc Expert 5

Aw that brings warmth to my cold black heart. And while I thank you for the compliments. That will not save you from the performance.

Male Human Barbarian 5

I'd also like to extend my thanks to Tark for running us all through.

Offhand, about how much time does it take to GM the PbP? I've been considering starting one myself.

Asmodia looks in the direction the Asmodean cleric exited when Bejis mentions adoring public. "Oh, aye," she sings and lets her eyes rest briefly on Calesinica, wondering how they were to protect the girl at the conclusion of the show.

Asmodia's brain was boiling with the multiple inferences of the puzzle. It was clear that Thesing had to die, and if Delour was willing to go to such lengths to be a witness to Calsenica's death...

Was there a specific threat that I missed, or are we just running on inferences? As the Haloron League is trying to promote good aligned change, are we justified in preemptively killing him? Do we need to arrange for her security after the play?

Bejis views Thesing as an adversary, but by his moral code, the outright slaying him is not acceptable. Bejis is perfectly fine about forcing him into a duel, which he views as letting the gods (or Gorum, really) choose the victor.

Also, how much does Bejis know (in character) of what happened between Asmodia and Thesing? Effectively, what has Asmodia said about it to the group?

Female Human Cleric/4

Rebels:

Most of this is Asmodia's train of thought, coz I tend to view wisdom as allowing one to see the larger picture.I figured between all of ya'll we had the combat we don't know about yet covered pretty effectively and Asmodia is no martial expert, so she thought about the social situation should we all survive.

Asmodia wants to kill Thesing and Delour because they're evil, and good people shouldn't allow evil folk they know about run about free. Thesing has been shown to be a sadist, and basically a disgusting individual. Asmodia can do something about Thesing easily. Invisibility potion, owl's wisdom spell, hold person and just coup de grace him.

Asmodia wouldn't tell the party what happened between her and Thesing. Asmodia would not even have told Bloodless all the details. So what Bejis and most know is that she hung around him, went in private with him a few times during rehearsals, and then refused to be near him. Bloodless knows that they slept together, or that Thesing is a really good liar that likes to insult her body. I don't know that he would have shared that with anyone.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Wizard(Enhancement)/4

Even thought I am the newb around here I do want to say I am having fun and appreciate you running the PbP Tark.

m Human Ftr 5 AC*:24,10,24. HP:35/50 Saves:7/5*/6 CMD 27*

Round 1 rehearsal cleared by Pollux. I am wondering if we shouldn't have Pollux wear the circlet for the rehearsal at least. Maybe switch in between acts.

Rat. At least we think so.

I am thinking no matter how straight we try to play this the play will be considered a classic of screwball comedy.

Just in the dress rehersal we have pepper beetles and Tal tripping on an unseen invisible deceased whip.

Nowhere to go but up.

Sorry for the delay in answering this.

It takes about as long as you might imagine. During slow periods it takes no time at all. Simply get your prepwork done early and have a plan in mind and you'll be fine. The nice thing about PbP is it mkes it easier to improvise since you have hours and days to think about a solution to potential hiccups.

Wait till you see my last acting performance, worse than the first.

Rat. At least we think so.

You could play it as stage fright. Just stand there amidst the chaos and let it all wash around you.

m Human Ftr 5 AC*:24,10,24. HP:35/50 Saves:7/5*/6 CMD 27*

Next act on my third 1 of the performance Tal will do that. Or run amock and actually start hurting people. Either way its a nervous breakdown. I think Meraxilar and Cal would appreciate me hitting someone or something.

In my defense I am a tank not a speaker. Hey there we go just hide behind the tower shield the entire play and not worry about the crowd.

you could even pin a copy of the script on the inside of the shield in case you forget your lines.

Not a bad idea may have to do that and make sure Robahl sees it. It might make him go into convulsions.

And do all of it while crying. Like a little girl.

That'd be easy... Tal just needs to think of the horrors awaiting him in Act VI...

Tal Bernard Mainz wrote:

I fear the nobles group may kill him through a heart rupture brought on by stress. It speaks volumes about opera when the best actor in the troupe and the one banging the leading lady is a mad man with a penchant for tea, rats, and exotic restaurants.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

I knew that chick was a kindred whore.

I am not sorry for beating her up on stage now.

Still wondering how she managed to get that kick off on Thesing, though...

** spoiler omitted **

Dirty fiat.

As for the other thing I'll explain once both groups have gotten through the play but it should be fairly obvious she has a thing for the person playing Larazod.

Female Human Cleric/4

Can i make all my attacks by fiat now? I mean, you can give me the same 5% chance I'll hit something as... well, the dice roller is supposed to give me but doesn't, like... ever.

m Human Ftr 5 AC*:24,10,24. HP:35/50 Saves:7/5*/6 CMD 27*

It would be a mercy to kill Tal now so he doesn't have to worry about the actual performance tomorrow. Come on just once during the performance rehearsal roll a 10 or higher. I might have better luck with a d10.

1d10 ⇒ 10

Yep I was right. Can there be a house rule that you can a roll a smaller die whenever you want. It might improve my acting ability.

Female Human Cleric/4

I laugh when someone else complains about the dice roller on these boards.

Only because I have no tears left to shed.

The amazing 3d level cleric with 16 hp because I rolled 1s for 2nd and 3rd level hp. She was once an amazing 2nd level cleric who rolled three consecutive 1s for her channel energy to heal the party in a dungeon situation, prompting even the conciliatory ranger to just pat her on the shoulder and tell her she did a good job.

Which... is a really sad scene I still recall, btw, Shifty. Just the whole "it's okay, we know you'll keep on trying but you should really just stop before you embarrass yourself" nature of the gesture. *laughs(

It figures that act 4 would agree with me. ;)

m Human Ftr 5 AC*:24,10,24. HP:35/50 Saves:7/5*/6 CMD 27*

The actual performance has got to be better doesn't it. I mean a 1,1,6,3 on the dice. It can't get any worse. Better to have it now than tomorrow night I suppose.

By the way I am not complaining just laughing at how much an idiot Tal is looking like on the stage.

Maybe there is no real torture on the stage. Maybe the actors just committed suicide because they were that horrible. It definitely is a possibility for Tal.

I believe the tradition is that a horrible dress rehearsal means a good opening night.

Break traditions, Break a Leg, whatever it takes.

At least CaldaKrona gave a good showing in the love scene... just remains to see if TalValid returns her fervent and strident attentions.

Male Orc Expert 5

I think my favorite part of this part of the AP is not the play, not the backstage srama worthy of a spanish soap opera, it's not the sudden and terrible fear of getting killed on stage after you publicly made out with a big hairy dude. It's the awkward moments that come afterwards.

I mean yeah, hook mountain massacre had canibalistic hillbilly ogres, hangmans noose had pervert paladins and a+@#%~* gnomes, carrion crown made you kill every fiddler and violinist you ever saw.

But this one? This one reminds you that an adventurer's life isn't just ugly, dangerous, and sometimes unapologetically lethal. It's awkward, embarassing, and sees you in places that are sticky, sweaty, and scratchy while being yelled at by a man explaining to you in colorful language how you are not being passionate enough with the tongue.

Female Human Cleric/4

Hey, I love novelas... :(

HAHAHA

Thank the black goat for that. I was thinking she was actually attracted to the monkey. That image would cause Azatoth to safeword.

Female Human Cleric/4

DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT!!

*grumbles and kicks s%#% around*

Male Orc Expert 5

Well you honestly didn't think he was taking a part in which he would actually die did you?

Female Human Cleric/4

No, I had a response to Shade written up, and when I previewed you had already posted something.

That's what made me upset.

I'm still planning on killing him.

Juss you try to stop me! :P

Male Orc Expert 5

Technically I can. But really why bother? The delicious consequences of it some time down the road are far more satisfying.

Female Human Cleric/4

Yeah, technically you can give him a +5 cloak of resistance, eyes of the eagle and some potions of that ranger spell that gives bonuses to perception, too so that he can see an invisible assassin who has prepared and cast Owl's wisdom on herself and has prepared hold person and is ready to coup de grace when he is helpless. Or you can not sell me the potions of invisibility and make me a really bungling assassin who is easily seen trying to sneak up to him and kill him after paralyzing him.

*sigh*

It's even simpler than that.

Ultimately, though, he has to sleep sometime, in which case gear won't help much, and he also probably has guards or "servants of the well muscled sort".

As I assume we will level soon, I've been contemplating if I should focus on Bejis's social skills next level, especially if we are about to climb the social ladder.

I was maxing the Acrobatics, Climb, and Swim skills, but I'm starting to wonder if I should let them stand in favor of getting Bluff and Diplomacy up.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Druid (Urban) - 4

Once the play is *over*, LeVash could care less what happens to him.

It just occurs to me that this play has never been completed without a death (to my understanding), and that there may be people who want to make sure we don't break the streak.

Of course, it's possible I've completely misunderstood the situation :)
