I read a mention of a trickster and a pyromania gnome and the bit about proficiency with crafted weapons. It isn't clear if these are all alternate racial abilities, what the first two do and if there are any others however...

I'd appreciate anything else others could share, oh so much.

The names of the gnome's racial abilities are:

Academician: replaces the obsessive racial trait.
Eternal Hope: replaces the defensive training and hatred racial traits.
Gift of Tongues: replaces the defensive training and hatred racial traits.
Magical Linguist: replaces the gnome magic and illusion resistance racial traits.
Master Tinker: replaces the defensive training and hatred racial traits.
Pyromaniac: replaces the gnome magic and illusion resistance racial traits.
Warden of Nature: replaces the defensive training and hatred racial traits.

Hey all, Thank you so much for all of the information presented so far... and a big THANK YOU to paizo for not swinging the perverbial "BAN-HAMMER" ;)

Would someone mind posting some information on Alchemists? I've been working on my mad-bomber and would love a peak at what i have to look forward to once my copy arrives.

okay... Academiciam, replaces obsessive trait with a bonus to any Knowledge. Eternal Hope, bonuses to some saving throws and re-roll a 1, once per day. Gift of Tongues, +1 Bluff and Diplomacy, add a language known with every Linguistics rank you add. Magical Linguist, bonuses and SLA related to magical language spells. Master Tinker, +1 Disable Device and Dungeoneering, proficiency with self-created weapons. Pyromaniac, boosts to fire spells and alternate fire SLA. Warden of Nature, bonuses against aberrations and vermin.

Also, anyone seen Fiend Totem yet? A five-foot aura that sickens and tears good creatures apart with phantasmal slashing damage. Stack that with the Spirit Totem tree of powers, which grants a protective aura of angry spirits (concealment vs. ranged) that attacks all your enemies within 15 feet for free.

Ix-nay on the ack-stay for different totems. To wit, from p. 74:

"A barbarian cannot select from more than one group of totem rage powers. For example, a barbarian that selects a beast totem rage power cannot later chose to gain any of the spirit totem rage powers."

And that is the only quotation from the APG you will see from me; just wanted to clarify for anybody with visions of bestial chaos fiend totem barbarians dancing in their heads... :)

No. Not unless you're a bard/paladin/cavalier, anyway. The PrC requires the Challenge ability.

That's disappointing. PrC's that require a specific set of classes to even qualify for aren' very useful. I've been looking for a good PrC for my Paladin/Bard and was really hopeful for this one...

Do Summoners get higher level Summoner spells and do they get spells that let them totally reconfigure their eidolons?

The Summoner appears just as it did in the playtest version. However, to mount an eidolon, it needs to be one size larger and take the 1 point mount evolution.

As far as spells go, there is a spell that reconfigures your eidolon. There are a few spells that add evolution points to it, as well.

As far as feat support goes...there really isn't any. Eidolon still take a minute to summon. The only feat specifically for the summoner is called Summoner's Call, which grants the Eidolon either a +2 str or con or dex, for ten minutes after it is summoned. Rather crappy.

Thanks for answering the questions. Are there specific magic items for Summoners?

I never looked specifically, but I don't think so. So many whiners on the message boards called the Summoner OP, so he basically got no support in THE BOOK HE CAME OUT IN.

Can the Eidolon wear armor? No. Why? Mystical Bullshit. Can it wear magic items? Sort of. Huh? Mystical Bullshit. So...if he can't wear armor, and I have to split magic items with him, can I at least use Augment Summoning to help him out? No, GTFO LOL. It's not a summoned creature! Or maybe on his summons he gets as a SLA? No. Not a summoned SPELL.

Other than an expanded spell list, did the Inquisitor get any compensation for the diminished Judgment?

That's honestly a good thing, because he was the sadface kid (along with the monk) in the core rulebook.

I am not sure if this has been mentioned, but it is something I meant to preview but forgot.

Bards can now take a feat, Lingering Performance, that allows the bonuses and penalties to continue for 2 rounds after they cease performing, so long as they do not start a new performance.

Thought that might be of some interest.

Yes, actually. Unless the APG specifically says Augment Summoning does not apply, it does. SLAs function exactly like a spell in every respect except that they do not take up spell slots and do not have V/S/M/DF components.

No worries. This sort of direct posting to answer a specific question or issue is not a big deal, when done in moderation. I think we were more concerned with the reposting of entire archtypes or rules pieces just for the sake of posting them.

Ah, but the caveat there is that it doesn't act like the Summon spells. Duration is quite longer, if I recall correctly, and there are other limitations and certain caveats that set it apart from the spell. Calling it a SLA is a misnomer, I think.

No. The text (unless it's changed from the playtest) says to treat as summon monster # except...; that means it's treated as summon monster #. Also, Jason specifically said during the playtest that Augment Summoning works on it. Also, even the text itself says, "He can cast this spell" when describing the changes.

I can understand the frustration here, which is why Pclasses irritate me on a number of levels. This one in particular is presented to bridge a theme, mixing two specific classes together. The only way to get the powers to work out the way we want was to make them very specific, which pretty much locks out other classes from taking them. I could see doing a Pclass for a wide variety of combos like this to make the concepts work out a bit better, but that would be a rather large book I think.

Honestly, the more I play the more I think about houseruling out more than the most basic of pre-reqs. There have been many a time where I was developing a character in 3.5 and then later found a PrC that would work perfectly for the concept, but then couldn't take it because I didn't have the spindledweeder feat and the annoying sod class feature because I took a substitution. Personally the more I deal with PrCs I think the more I want to make sure that pre-reqs lean more towards what level you have to be to get them and what you can't have rather than class features and feats etc. But then my games lean more towards spontaneous growth based on what happens in game then planned builds (maybe plan out a level or two, and your next feat, but no one comes to my games with a 20-level build)

Thanks for the answer Jason. I'm not sure if this is a good feat or bad one since maintaining a Performance now is a free action. It seems a bit pointless if you can't start a new one. But perhaps it's good.

I've said this beofore but I'm saying it again: Thanks for giving the Oracle a Life Revelation. I kept pestering you about a healing revelation during the beta test. So thanks again.

It's definitely good. It lets you double to triple the number of rounds per day you get out of Inspire Courage and other round-by-round performances, at least at later levels (or with feats such as the one in the campaign setting) when you don't have to use a standard action to start a performance.

I have gleamed the arcane duelist bard gets arcane bond so they can start the game with a bonded weapon. Do they substitute anything else or do they get the normal bard class features? Does the bard get any spells which assist in the role of fighter-mage?

If nobody else has hooked you up by the time I get home (in about 5 hours or so) I'll post some bits and pieces here. There's just so much spoiler-y goodness!

Seems like the basics have been covered, so I'll just share two of my favorite bloodline powers from the Shadow bloodline:

Shadow Well (Sp): At 9th level, you get what is essentially Hide In Plain Sight if you're within 10 ft of a shadow (not your own shadow). Also, you can switch places with a willing ally within 60 ft if you're both in darkness or dim light. At 13th, you can switch two allies.

Enveloping Darkness (Sp): At 15th level, you can make a
area of deeper darkness that entangles creatures, and you can see through it normally.

The real problem with the APG will be finding the time to make all these new characters I now want to play.

To give an example of how this could be useful, I'll describe a fight my Bard was in on Monday night.

Second Darkness spoilerish:
We were heading out of the Drow city I'm not even going to try spelling in part 4, and had a random encounter with the big trog variant monster things in the issue's bestiary. We had our Dwarf Monk about 60 foot ahead, so we could use his darkvision to scout and reduce our light based exposure.

When my first turn came up , I took a move action to begin closing the gap, and used my standard action as a move equivalent action to begin ispiring courage. The next turn the party had all coalesed near the creatures (they all charged/double moved), so I took a move action so that we were all within 30 feet of each other, and then cast Haste. this obviously meant that my song shut down, so there was a turn that it wasn't helping us. If I had had this feat (okay, so if this fight would have been repeated next level as I'll then have this feat...), the bonus would not have disappeared.

I used prestige classes a lot in 3.5, I'll liked the chance to play a specialized character whose abilities weren't all to common. That said, things got silly. The best ideas for prestige classes made some terrible crunch and some off-the-wall ones were really powerful. In the end, they weren't usually taken for flavor, but rather for power.

Pathfinder fixed that. The PRC's I've seen are either members of Golarion specific organizations or taking a concept that was too poorly portrayed by a base class. In the end, Pathfinder tries to use them to fill niches that a base class would have a hard time doing.

These archetypes, however, scratch an itch for ideas that prestige classes tried to fill. The really specific subtypes of characters. In 3.5 the beastmaster was a PRC, but now it fits better as an archetype. I foresee the people I play with using a lot of archetypes and very few PRCs.

For the record, casting spells doesn't end performances in Pathfinder. They did away with that nonsense.

Yes, I think the use of Lingering Performance is to take careful control of when you begin and end your bard songs to conserve your rounds per day drastically. For instance, once you get Bardic Performance as a Swift Action, you can just turn it on one round in three, spending your Swift for that round, then immediately end it, and thus effectively give yourself 3x as many rounds per day. Woot!

Still wondering if I can get a summary of the swashbuckler archetype please.

I did write up an alternate class spell list for them, but in the end all bards are still on the same list. That said, there are plenty of good fighter-friendly spells out there.

And, you can always research your OWN spells, yknow, even if you're a spontaneous caster.

To be fair, assuming they all follow the model of the preview, Judgments were only diminished at low levels. If they're all +1, +1 per 5 levels, then they cap out at +5, and they still double at 10th.

Barbarian rage power snippet: Apparently, somebody at Paizo likes Robilar's Gambit feat from PHB2:

Come and Get Me (Ex): While raging, as a free action the barbarian may leave herself open to attack while preparing devastating counterattacks. Enemies gain a +4 bonus on attack and damage rolls against the barbarian until the beginning of her next turn, but every attack against the barbarian provokes an attack of opportunity from her, which is resolved prior to resolving each enemy attack. A barbarian must be at least 12th level to select this rage power.
