You mean to tell me, that people of their own free will take organic and alchemical produced substances to alter their state of mind! What absolute foolishness. What next Tarak, will peole start rolling up dried weeds and smoke that as well?

Shaking my head in disbelief I notice Tarek reading. Oh oh....looks like there is more...what is it?

As the Archosn continue to try and unravel the mystery before them, the note in Tarek's hand once again glimmers with new writing:

"Time runs short, and I only pray I deliver this in time as if not, all is lost. Once a person passes through the portals in this order, they will be able to pierce the barrier. Please hurry, for time is literally scarce..."

The note is followed by a sequence of portals, spelling out the exact sequence to step through. This note is easily deciphered and the Archons each pass in the corrected sequence and will now be able to pierce the magical barrier and proceed to the fifth floor.

I had to accelerate due to time constraints, the party may now advance up the stairs to the 5th floor. Post any actions taken prior to proceeding.

Still a little confused on how this whole thing works. I assume we take a blue portal on level 3 to level 2. This would give us 4 hashmarks. We then run up the stairs to level 3 again and take the red portal to level 5 and this would give us 8 hashmarks. The tally of the 2 levels would equal the 12 marks shown for level 6. I was thinking originally blue descended and removed those number of hashmarks and red ascended and added the hashmarks.

Well my friends it looks as if luck is on our side. I was beginning to think our only option was harnessing 1.21 gigawatts of power. I am glad we do not have to go that route. Let us make haste and travel to the top of the tower before time runs out. I will be happy to be free of this place as quickly as we can.

Tarek, truly you have a stunning intellect. Most men cannot even fathom the power of electrify, let alone measure it

Ok, I have cast shocking grasp and the invisibility spell off my scroll as previously posted as well as using shield off my wand.

Arcanely ready for action....and now invisible.

OK, who is first in....that can be me....let me get to the door here......and..once you are all ready, in I will go.

I wait to see the rest line up behind me, once we are in our stack to enter, I test the door to see if it is open or Ajar, and if so...in I go.

Finally able to decipher the mystery of the belfry, the Archons either leap the broken stairway or climb with a rope, piercing the magical barrier and entering the belfry.

The top of the Clock Tower is swathed in bright light, and barriers of glowing violet block any view of the town of Uringen. The numerous gears that drive the clocks spin and tick in time, and with every twitch of the second hand, a shudder runs through the room. Between the gears of the clocks, a thick, silver-gold substance drips out, crackling with arcs of red and blue.

A comely woman, dressed in a blue, leaf like material, is busy inside the room. She mutters to herself in a smooth, beautiful language works at wall of the tower. She wears a crown of thorns and a closer inspection shows that she is scraping and collecting some of the dripping substance. She does not appear to notice the Archons presence.

Being invisible while I look at the eloquently spoken woman, I move into a postition of advantaged cloaked in invisibility and prepared to launch my attacks if required.

The woman casually continues to collect the strange substance as the party gathers about her. She places the substance on a vial and places the vial in a pocket of her vestment. Isador cannot determine if there is any special technique the woman used to collect the substance. The Archons notice she is speaking to herself in hurried jumbled tones of the easy flowing language of the forrest. The woman turns and notices the party. Her face grows stern and her eyes go wide. She speaks harshly to the group in the same flowing language. When she can see that the agents do not react or indicate they understand, a flash of annoyance flashes across her face as she addesses them in common.

"Who are you? Who disturbs my work this day? I warn thee, I shall brook no resistance in my restoration of this abomination. Away now, leave me to my work to return this place to Shyka to whom it so rightfully belongs."

Know Religion DC 15:
Shyka the Many is one of the Eldest, a divine fey creature of tremendous power said to be able to reshape the very fabric of the First World on a whim. Shyka could be considered a title or a role, for many entities, both male and female, have borne this name over the ages. All have been chronomancers with mastery over time; time acts strangely within the First World, but Shyka seems able to manipulate it. Indeed, his or her many forms and personalities over time, past and future, may well sit within Shyka together, out of time, as they all seem to speak with the same voice.

We mean no disrespect to you or to Shyka. We are representatives of the Pathfinder Society and our presence here was requested by the mayors of this city. Very few people have an understanding of what the purpose of this tower really is. We were sent to observe, study and record what takes place when the clock faces align. Upon Caoilte's approach, the strange woman's eyes go dark but before she can take any action, Tarek steps in and addresses the woman in light blue in the same smoth flowing language she was speaking a moment ago. The woamn's demanor shifts notably and clearly is taken aback at Tarek's use of the language. She speaks to the oracle in the same language.

Sylvan:
The town of Uringen? They are fools! I know not your reason for being here, Pathfinder of that what you shall call yourself, but trifle not with these people. This place, the ground upon which this tower was built, was sacred to Shyka. Twas one of her sacred circles that the goddess chose to place here. Should be an honor but nay, the cursed one, Rhonda Ambros her name, she defiled this holy site. Worse, she stole my Lady's heelstone and sought to ground that blessed artifact into the stones to build this tower.

The woman gestures about her, showing Tarek small specks of white stone in the walls of the tower.

Sylvan:
As to why the people of Uringen chose to defile my Lady's circle, I can say not. But know this, Pathfinder, I shall ensure this holy site is once again delivered unto the hands of the great and mighty Shyka. The tower, strange portents upon the flow of time it doth bring. I shall remain here, for the way is long and the stream flows through time and I shall unlock this place's mystery. Be warned, though, once my study is complete I shall destroy this place and recover the circle stolen from my patron so many years ago.

Tarek thinks for a moment and addresses the woman once more.
You may feel the common tongue is beneath you to speak but I request that we speak so all may understand what has happened. Allow me a moment to speak with my companions. This tower has been a curse to Uringen because it has frozen half the city in time. Perhaps we can aid you in your cause if you are willing to aid us in ours? If you will excuse me, I will speak to the others.

Tarek addresses the Archons It seems this tower was built upon a sacred site to the Fey and and a scared artifact was destroyed and used in the construction of the tower. I think our objective was to determine what this tower does in hopes of freeing Uringen from this time freeze. The lady wishes to destroy this tower and it may be within her rights to do so, as long as it does not bring forth greater destruction

The woman eyes Tarek coolly, and responds to his question in Sylvan.

Sylvan:
I shall speak as my goddess intended, you may sulley your words as you see fit. What cause dost though seek? How dost though propose to aid mine?

Sylvan:
I am surprised, child of the stars. I took thee to be nothing but an agent of the defilers, but I see truth in your words. Mayhaps we may find ground after all. Art thou offering to aid me in re-dedicating this place to Shyka, even if it means the tower shall fall? I confess, I care not for these people and I would just as soon see them destroyed for their insolence, but I also care not for senseless bloodshed. Very well, Pathfinder. I shall agree to give one vial of this most interesting substance, but only one vial. In exchange thou shalt agree to convince the people of this village to give back what was so unlawfully stolen from my goddess. I warn thee, mortal, though I can see the goodly power has touched your being, should thee be deceitful, my wrath shall be most terrible. The fey are bound by their word so thou shalt know our bargain will ring true. May thee say the same?

The woman fixes Tarek in a piercing cold stare as she awaits his response.

The red shrugs and speaks quietly...

Sylvan:

I think it would help to know why the tower was built.

Just to play 'Devil's Advocate', what if, for an extreme example, the tower was built to trap some form of abyssal creature that had destroyed the artifact and was trying to rend time apart for its own purposes?

That being said, a giant clocktower built with stones fixed with a ground up scared artifact and plunked down square on a holy site of one who is purported to be able to reshape the World on a whim? This building's construction was definitely not accidental.

She gives a small head tilting nod towards the woman and continues.

Sylvan:

If I were in her place I would be doing something quite similar.

However, bringing this tower down is going to have consequences; no matter the reason it was built. I, for one, would prefer to not be caught with my trousers around my ankles when the aftermath hits; so if we have time, we should try and figure out what that might be.

The woman tilts her head and considers Kat's words. She smiles as the elf speaks the forrest tongue. She speaks to both Tarek and Kat.

Sylvan:
A fair question, daughter of the forrest. I cannot speak as to why that vile Rhona defiled my Lady's circle so. I may, however, speak to your questions of demons and such matters. I assure thee, these circles do not serve the lower planes but are in the design of the great Skyka. I do not, nor should any mortal, question her divine vision. As you say, my patron may reshape this world, but has not. Only my Lady knows her designs and I am but her servant.

The dryad holds up a single vial of the essence she was collected just moments before. She addresses Tarek once again.

Sylvan:
What say you, child of the stars. Has a bargain been struck?

The fey once again waits for tarek's reply. Neither Tarek nor Havelock note any deception in the fey's mannerisms and are certain she is speaking in good faith.

The dryad quirks her brow and nods. She speaks to the party, begrudgingly, in common.

Very well, I agree to the bargain. The comely woman hands Tarek a vial of the strange temporal essence and nods. Let us away. Thou hast a task at hand. I do hope the villagers do not protest too much. She tips her head and leads the party out of the tower back into the town square.

Crossing the square, the Archons note the area is ransacked and deserted. As they proceed, several small fey emerge from behind a building. One of them, Eloriand notes it has the marking of a grig, hops forward and speaks to the dryad.

Henbane! Why do you aid these creatures! Destroy them!

The dryad, Henbane, tilts her head and addresses the grig. The time wasn’t right anymore. Your request only made sense at the later time.

Tarek swings his mighty sword and lands a blow on the darting fey. It hisses as the holy blade causes some damage, though the fey resists much of it.

Eloriand fires off an arrow but is unable to connect.

Suddenly the grig reappears as he finishes the last of a spell. Long vines spring from the ground and begin to wrap themselves around the Archons! El, Izzy, Tarek and Caoilte must make a refelex save v. dc 15.

End Round 2, begin round 3.

The quicklings surrounding Caoilte continue their attack on the warrior. Their atatcks finally fell their foe, and Caoilte falls to the ground. The vines slowly begin to encircle the unconscious agent. Caoilte takes 7 damage and falls to -1. Please make a stabilization check.

Isador and rest of party up.

I think I automatically fail the reflex save due to going below 0 HP.

Ugh!The filthy vermin have ensnared me!

Tarek struggles with rapidly growing vines

Do the vines cover our entire bodies or just our legs? Wondering if we can take other actions. If so then Tarek will grab a scroll of cure light Wounds to use on Caoilte

The vines creep from the ground to entangle some of the brave agents. Caoilte's unconscious body quickly becomes wrapped in the magically summoned plants. Tarek and Eloriand are also ensnared by the pernicious vegetation while Isador, the crafty rogue, manages to leap out of the vines reach.

Those than failed save are now entangled (see below) and may attempt to break free of the vines with a strength or escape artist check v DC 15. Anyone who ends their turn in the effected area (green circle) must make another REF save to avoid becoming entangled.

Havelock finally manages to land a blow on the quickling before him. The magus releases the long held electrical charge which channels though his black blade into the fey, obliterating it.

Party up before the grig, please try to post as we are down to 4 days to resolve.

Entangled Condition:
The character is ensnared. Being entangled impedes movement, but does not entirely prevent it unless the bonds are anchored to an immobile object or tethered by an opposing force. An entangled creature moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity. An entangled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) or lose the spell.

Not able to immediately aid Caoilte, I take notice of the grig and fire off Acid Arrow.

ranged tough: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

The arrow, appearing to be on track, I assess the situation, looking to see if I can render aid to Caoilte, or if the next Fey is in need of obliteration.
Acid Arrow: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 impact
Acid Arrow: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3. 1st round
Acid Arrow: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 2nd round

I think Acid arrow, based on reading does 2d4 on impact, an additional 2d4 for a round and then 2d4 for every additional round per 3 levels of the cast....but I could be mistaken.

Botting round due to time constraints.

Isador fires another arrow at one of the quickling but misses.

Kat fires an arrow at one of jumpy buggers but is short of the mark.

Havelock digs into a further arcane reserve and launches a arrow coated in magical acid at the nearest quickling after taking a step back. Unfortunately, the arrow misses the speeding fey.

Blood begins to seep from Caoilte's body. Caoilte at -2.

Eloriand attempts to draw a bead on one of the quicklings, nicking the little blur.

Tarek reaches out, fighting the entangling vines and holding a quickling at bay to call forth divine power, sending it to Caoilte. The energy settles over the unconscious warrior to stabilize his wounds.

The grig rubs its legs together in a fury and waves its hands wildly, throwing magical energy at Havelock, while stating "Ever hear the one about the maiden, the crowe and three blind mice?"Roll a will save 'lock.

End round 3, begin round 4.

The remaining quicklings, seeing Havelock explode one of their fellow fey, blur towards the magus, flanking him. They each find their mark, drawing blood from the Chelaxian. 'lock takes 7 additional damage.

Brew I posted I shot at the grig. If he quickling is approaching me and its over 1 square is that an attack of opportunity?
