A little small

4/5

Maybe I’m just a perfectionist but while the artwork on these minis is awesome I found the size to be small in comparison with other paper minis. The price is right at 4.99 and the time to put them all together isn’t too bad I think it took me about 4 hours to make them all. It is great to have so many towns people to fill up a town square.

Long Overdue Review

5/5

This is by far the most useful set of paper minis that has been put out. Very rarely can you find, just the average townsfolk. I utilize this and will continue to do so in EVERY Campaign I run. The art is fantastic and truth be told I wont purchase a paper mini set unless its from Callous Jack. Unbelievably detailed for the Sandpoint setting and incredibly versatile in its use in ANY other RPG setting. Incredible work giving us what we desire Paizo!

Definately worth getting

5/5

Okay, I'll start by saying that this product isn't as cost effective as it first appears, once you start taking into account the cost of colour ink. Having said that, I'm still giving this product 5 starts for the following reasons:

  • The artwork is great on this one - kudos to Callous Jack
  • My initial trepidation in purchasing this was that all the cutting and glueing would be time consuming, but with a good craft knife and glue dispenser they are quite quick to get together.
  • Most of these figures simply aren't available elsewhere. I have the full set of RotRL Battles minis, but I'm still going to be supplementing them with these.
  • There is a wide varity of figues. You can fill up the Town Square and make it feel like a dense crowd, and still have so few duplicates that they aren't even worth mentioning.
  • These figures are generic enough that they have use beyond RotRL or Jade Regent. Anytime you need a random NPC, there is probably a figure in this set that will do the job.

All in all, this product is worth getting. It's a must have for the opening scene of RotRL, but it's a handy resource even if you aren't planning to play the AP.

Awesome product - A must buy for RotR Masters

5/5

All previously reported errors have been solved and also Barett family (for Monster in the closet) have been added.
I have counted slightly less than one hundred different paper minis...

A must be for every GM especially if you are going, like me, to play this on Virtual Tables...

Pathfinder Paper Minis—Sandpoint Townsfolk PDF review

5/5

Just started using this set to support Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition and love them so far. The are is more realistic and less cartoony than some of the other sets I've downloaded. A wide variety of figures give you an option for almost any NPC or peasant you could need. Errors corrected and score review to reflect.
Highs: Variety, characters added with update, Livestock!
All-in-all a good set and worth the cost 8 pages of figures.

Oh Heck Yeah!

Sczarni RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

So is the mini for Sheriff Hemlock in this set based on the art for the original release or the Anniversary Edition? Personally, I like the original version better :-)

I'll probably buy the set anyway, but I'm just curious.

Sovereign Court

1 person marked this as a favorite.

It's the original version of the sheriff.
:)

Uuuuuh, it has chicken as paper minis!

Me like - tis all! (Sorry, after being exhausted and tired comes stupid).

On a more coherent note: I do like the idea behind that set as it should give lots and lots of minis for (more generic) townsfolk and heroes alike!

Thanks, that was the plan! I was hoping that they were useful to use in Sandpoint but also as generic villagers for any scenario people might need.

It appears the image for Sheriff Hemlock is labelled as Kendra Deverin (as is the image for Kendra Deverin.)

I'll have to fix that soon.

Thanks Damon!

Liberty's Edge

Additionally, it doesn't appear as though there is a Belor Hemlock base, either.

Sovereign Court

Hey Randomname, thanks for the review!
Please point out the errors you noticed, I would like to fix them as soon as possible. :)

As others have pointed out there is no base for Belor Hemlock and he is misnamed. Also no name base for Chopper's ghost.

The product is awesome... I'm not sure to remember because I have not it with me atm but I think the barett family, of monster in the closed, is missing... This is a pity... However let my repeat... Wonderful product.

Okay, easily fixed. Thanks!

That's a good point! I had completely forgotten about them... I'll see about putting them in too.

I bought some of these paper miniatures a lot of time ago (first two legacy of fire) and their original quality value were not very high...). The fact that you updated and added new miniatures to these old products (incredibly adding product value) convinced me to buy others and now I'm thinking to buy them all... So yes please when you have time and you discover some errors or something missing, correct or add... You'll gain customers fidelity.

I agree, the consistent corrections and updates are what keep me buying these paper mini sets. That and some really good artwork for the scale.

Sovereign Court

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I'm glad you like the artwork and I hope to always stay on top of any corrections that people mention.
I hope to have these updated by next week at the latest.

Sovereign Court

Okay...

Belor Hemlock's label was fixed.
Belor's base was fixed.
Chopper's base was fixed.
The Barret family was added.

I'm sending these today so hopefully Liz will post them up when she gets a chance.

Updated. :D

Thanks a lot, added a review and going to buy other of these

Murdermaw labels are wrong (also on base... There is written just Mudermaw). It's a small fix you could add if there will be need of another update.

Also you have added a lot of animals, and that's great, but there is no boar for the hunt with Aldern (I have already seen boars in other paper minis but not here or in Burnt Offerings).

However 5 stars product... thanks a lot

Just downloaded the new update. The new additions as well as the corrections was a very pleasant surprise. Review score has been changed to reflect this.
Keep up the good work Jack. I will be picking up a few more of your Rise of the Runelords paper minis to fill in the gaps from the pawn set.

Sovereign Court

Thank you Randomname and Sneaky for the reviews! I really appreciate them.

I will add the Murdermaw fixes to any other changes that might come up in the near future. I'm not sure why i didn't put them in there in the first place but I will also be sure to add the boars to the Burnt Offerings set when I update it in the next few months. (I have two Skull & Shackles sets left and then it's on to RotR updates!)

Thanks again!

CJ - First of all, awesome minis! Just got mine printed, cut, folded, and glued. I'll be sure to get pics when I play on Saturday.

Just a heads up, there was no labled base for Garridan Viskalai. Also, both Ethram Valdemar and Turch Sterglus both have extra bases.

Great, I'd love to see pics! Are you playing Burnt Offerings or is it another adventure that needs some villagers?

(Thanks for catching the mistakes, I'll look into fixing them!)

Hello, mildly curiosity question, really.

I noticed that the townsfolk are about 5% larger than the humans from the Burnt Offerings paper mini set. That is, at original size, most of the town people are taller than 370 pixels at 300 dpi, while none of the combatants in Burnt Offerings are.

Really the only thing this would do is make my Burnt Offerings bad guys really short. Any particular reason?

Hey ohako,

Burnt Offerings was my first set and I have learned a lot about the process of creating and laying out the miniatures since then. It is probably just a case of some subtle changes working themselves in over the course of 20 sets later. When I redo the Runelords sets, I'll see about size differences and anything else people notice so it's good to know! Thanks!

Burnt Offerings.

Cool! I look forward to some Swallowtail mayhem pics!

Liberty's Edge

Oh yeah! I've got the Sandpoint Flip-Mat, 70 or so paper citizens, the PCs and GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINS! MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! >:-D

Sovereign Court

Great, I look forward to seeing that!

Liberty's Edge

The Sandpoint Festival just before the goblin attack. I was so engrossed in running the adventure, I almost forgot to take any pictures at all!

Sovereign Court

Very cool! I'm happy there was at least one. Thank you!

Yay! I just noticed that Veznutt Parooh has the exact same face visuals as my favorite WOW char back in the old times. Extra kudos for that, CJ!

Ruyan.

Sovereign Court

It's all about the 'stache. :)

I will use him as a disguise in my campaign for a NPC similar to the lamia sisters in RotRL, so the little man's grandfatherly smile hides a voracious appetite for small children and megalomania in general *evil grin*

Came on here to report a few errors. I see they mostly have already been reported, however.

  • Garridan Viskalai has no base
  • Turch Sterglus and Ethram Valdemar have two bases each
  • Shayliss Vinder's base is misspelled as "Shaliss Vinder"
  • Murdermaw is misspelled as "Mudermaw" on both the mini and the base

I think Shayliss is the only one that wasn't reported earlier.

I also have a small complaint. The texture on the semi-circles that form the top of the bases for the minis is very pixelated. A higher resolution of woodgrain/boards would be awesome. It's noticeable at a distance, or I wouldn't mention it.

Overall I love the set though! :)

  • Sovereign Court

Thanks Castarr4, I'm glad you like the set!

I will look into the floorboards base, it may just be that I didn't have the file linked properly when i made it in Indesign.

Love the set! I'll be using these in some Beginner Box scenarios as well since that also starts focused in Sandpoint...

Here's quick pic of ALL the folks crowded into Town Square it's a mob scene!

I just got the paper minis for the skull and shakles AP. The artwork is solid but there are characters missing entirely even from the crew of the wormwood. And there are no bases. Really guys ? Not all of us are rushing out to buy the pathfinder box set and even if i did wanna drop more money on that there are still not enough bases. Whats the deal? Those bases have got to be dirt cheap to make and my local game store cant even carry them. This is a marketing epic fail in my book.

Whoa, thanks for sharing, tburke! That's a fantastic pic, definitely one of my favorites! How long did it take you to put the whole set together?

If you get a chance, please post more as you play the scenarios! Thanks again!

    Hi sanackranib!

Just for clarification, are you talking about the Skull and Shackles paper minis? Or the Skull and Shackles pawns? I don't have anything to do with the pawns but I can fix any errors with the paper minis if you have a problem.

  • Sorry guys, I meant to get back to you on this earlier but the holidays threw me off. Anyways, I looked a the floorboards, they did look a little low-res so I replaced them. I also fixed all the errors posted above. Hopefully the updated set will post soon!

Thanks CJ! Assembly took maybe a couple hours spread out over time.

    - Step 1 print all
    - Step 2 score and fold/glue all. set under books to press & dry.
    - Step 3 cut out each and glue to base

My game changer for step 3 was a 1" circle craft punch. Less than ten bucks on amazon. Not having to cut the bases by hand really saved me time(& hand cramps)
