Pathfinder Battles Preview: Devils of the Sea

This preview... Wow! Three for three!

Although I already have some PPM sea devils, they're a race that attacks in large numbers, so being able to add some variety is nice. I love these. Love, love, love them.

AWESOME! Love these, really. And while there are already sahuagin out there, they're pricey to get ahold of, so an infusion of relatively inexpensive common sahuagin is going to help a lot of people out. This set looks better and better.

I'm kind of stocked up on Sahuagin, but maybe I'll donate a few extra to a friend and tag these guys in ^^

Beautiful sculpts - the Champion is particularly nice.
I love the little sea critters on the Matron's staff... it's little details like that that really make a figure.

I've never purchased a case of pre-painted figures before (or even that many singles) but I am going to have to scrape up the coin for this set. Keep up the good work!

I can always use more Sahuagin, although the Matron doesn't really fit that race too well. The other two are great.

Glad to see a "new" infusion of sea devils (sahuagin) in this set (was pretty sure we would though) ... it is a shame ... I was hoping for a "four-armed" mutant sahuagin ... and maybe a malenti ... but at least the WotC PPM had a four-armed mutant ... so I'm good to go there.

my next guess for a future preview ... a sea hag? (The hags have been under-used in PPM in my opinion).

Not to "thread-jack" but I'd like to go on record and ask that the set after this one (that's supposed to be more "generic" i.e. not AP based) have a green hag and an annis hag in it. (That would at least complete the hags). :)

Look closely! The Sea Devil Champion does have four arms!

I like the Matron as she is. When used in conjunction with the Baron, she'll fill in nicely as a witch or shaman. I can always use more Sahuagin, and these guys look great. The Champion's armor is a very nice touch.

A "malenti" would be identical to an aquatic elf. So you could use an aquatic elf mini...if those existed! I would love to see some aquatic elves! I think they would be a great addition for some future set. As for now, these sahuagin will add to my collection nicely!

Fish have boobs?

No. But this thing isn't exactly a fish.

I like the comment about doing a "batch" of one race in a single set. I think the increase in consistency amongst similar figures is worth paying the price of decreased variety in the set overall.

I agree its great to see the multiples showing up. I don't see it as reducing the variety though. I think any large encounter with minis needs at least two types on the table to lend a little varety. Having a standard and champion does that perfectly. In hope we get another lizardman and a boggard to match the two out there already. Perhaps another kobold, troglodyte and bugbear as well.

All 3 sea devils look great and continue the trend of fantastic minis in this set. The amount of detail on that base Sea Devil is remarkable, considering ti's a common. Same with the champion. As fr the Matron I was expecting a mini of course, but that one is simply beautiful(?). I'm also glad to see the PC brigade skipped this one. It was a let down for the lamias to see the oddly positioned strips of cloth and armour used to render the minis in Runelords less risque (cleverly placed hair would have been better).

The large minis in this set have set a real standard that's I think will be hard to match. 31 of 55 minis down and you can color me very, very impressed.

What I mean is that having multiples of one race of monster necessarily implies fewer races being covered within the set.

I think that's a good trade off.

I hope people really do like these. I will have some for trade once my case comes in. Just not my cup of tea as they say.

But overall I still like this set.

Considering the Matron is prominent in book two of S&S, and the mini looks a lot like the artwork, she is perfect. Add the common and the champion and you have what is needed for the encounters in the module. For someone who is planning on running the AP, and doesn't have the miniatures this is an ideal opportunity to get exactly what is needed. For me, though I have a nice number of DDM Sahuagins, I like the unique Pathfinder style and prefer to use them when I one day plan to run the AP. The DDM versions will compliment and fill out the ranks. And I am very pleased to see a female version for these "monstrous humanoids" . Female versions of monsters are sorely lacking in prepainted miniatures.

Wow this is awesome. I missed out on the dungeons and dragon miniatures, so I'm in need of sahuagins for any adventure. This is one amazing set with a lot of detail. It will be hard to beat.
