The Legend of Erik: A Link Between Departments

Friday, September 5, 2014

I'm happy to announce that Erik Keith, who has been a pillar of the Customer Service team, is moving over and up into new and exciting things. At the beginning of September, Erik transitioned into his new role as Paizo's Software Test Engineer. I am both excited for him as he takes on this new role, and also a little sad that I will no longer get to work next to someone who has become not only someone I enjoy working with, but a friend as well. While Erik won't be directly assisting customers with their orders or issues, he will still be helping fans and the Paizo community, albeit in a more abstract manner. He will be using his extensive knowledge of our internal software to help the Tech Team test new code and features that will make our customers and our employees' experience better.

Erik has been with the Customer Service team for three years. It will be impossible to find someone with his same spirit and natural skill for helping people, but I couldn't be happier to see him launching into this new career opportunity.

So what is the third dungeon, I mean department, Erik must conquer before he has the three medals required to draw the master sword?

And does he have blonde or pink hair underneath that hat?

Now if only he'd get around to uploading the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video that he did as Valeros. His co-workers should join in on pestering him to do that :V

Oh! Is that what those medals were for? I always just grabbed the Power Gauntlets and pulled the sword out of the ground, pedestal and all. The thing only weighed 2 tons at most!

It's a secret to everybody!

You have it wrong, Herr Wertz.

Cosmo didn't escape from CustServ.

If you had to listen to Erik's puns every day, you would react the same way! :P

Note to self: Force Erik's swashbuckler in next WotR game to do nothing but sit in the corner and test how long it takes to roll 20 20's in a row.

So, how long until he takes the Test of the Starstone?

Right after he collects all six Infinity Stones and places them into the gauntlet. Only then will he have the power to ascend into the Temple of the Starstone and take the Seventh Infinity Gem, Aroden's Star, and become God of Gods.

Well that! That's one heck of an iconic pose! Looking forward this being illustrated by Mr. Reynolds in a future iconic character or even for an existing iconic character. The table is now open for iconic character suggestions . . . off the bat I could see Valeros with his mug (instead of the gauntlet) with Merisiel doing Erik's colleague's pose :D

The Good
Congratulations Erik ! I love it when a company "promotes" from within. Good business sense, and good for morale.

The Bad
Back in my I/T support days, you would be what we called a "knowledgeable user." Now you will get blamed for everything. The Tech folks can now say "we showed it to Erik, and he was ok with it. Blame him." lol !!!

The Ugly
Cosmo is off the hook!

Thanks everyone! I can assure you that I'll still continue my dedication to helping everyone, although it'll be a lot more behind the scenes now. :) With some dedicated resolve the weird quirks that had you contacting Customer Service in the first place will slowly disappear from the website, and as you noted Papa-DRB, I'll be ready should any new ones pop up.

I'm pretty sure Katina and Sharaya have that on lockdown. ;)

It's been an ongoing process Gorbacz! I think the next step is Psychopass to further earn their trust, maybe Puella Magi Madoka as a buffer, and then ultimately Higurashi.
