You guys are doing great. You absolutely wrecked that CR 13 construct earlier.

That's with a buffed Bambang. An unbuffed Bambang is rather unimpressive. :( By the way, GM, Bambang's hp is now 59/67 because he now has no mental focus in his transmutation implement, and loses his +4 constitution bonus. Also, although it might not make a difference, red doesn't have -38 to his hp because I retcon the last round's attack to cast heart of the metal instead.

fort: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 12 - 2 = 20
Having once taken a multitude of life drains from demons (four at one go to be precise), Bambang is prepared for it this time, and shakes of the deadly attack.

He steps forward and continue hacking away at the remaining conscious (green) demon.

Bambang's strikes are enough to cut the demon down once and for all. The group slits the sleeping demon's throat, ending it once and for all. With little time to collect their bearings a massive final stand is happening just on the opposite side of the smashed doors.

Pathfinders pour through the broken gate into a sanctum teeming with fiends. In two towers that flank the large room, lesser demons furiously work levers and cranks to load ballistae of Abyssal steel and demon sinew to fire wicked bolts upon the charging Pathfinders. Atop a tall platform stands a demon much larger than any other, chanting and weaving dark energies to open what looks like an extradimensional portal.

This room is the command center of Thurl’s demonic army. The 20-foot-tall round platform in the room has the inverted pentagram of Baphomet on it, and the smaller, 5-foot-tall square platform resting on this central platform bears the symbol of Baphomet: a minotaur’s head. Both symbols are painted in blood. The side platforms are also 20 feet tall, and the ceiling rises to a height of 40 feet.

The largest of the demons is Koth’Vaul’s glabrezu vassal Katazuul, who has called a great number of lesser demons from the Abyss to defend the siege castle. Katazuul bears a glowing symbol on her chest.

Abyssal or DC 23 Knowledge (arcana or planes), or Linguistics:
You realize that the runes signify the demon’s obedience to an entity called Koth’Vaul.

Having realized that Absalom’s forces have penetrated the siege tower’s defenses, Katazuul has started a summoning ritual, hoping to bring more glabrezus to the Material Plane to thwart the assault.

DC 18 Knowledge (planes):
You identify that the portal—if allowed to open fully—would not merely allow more demons to enter; it would also flood a large swath of the Cairnlands with unholy energy that could kill large numbers of Absalom’s defenders.

The central platform and its larger demons represent far too dangerous a threat for you. Instead you clash with several of lesser demons atop the portals platform.

Hanging from the shadows only this shadowy bat-winged demon’s teeth and claws have any sense of physicality to them—the rest is lost in darkness. The second demon a cloud of spores and a trail of feathers surrounds this twisted cross between a man and a gigantic vulture. Both are knowledge Planes to ID.

GM, I'd like to activate some of the remaining boons, as we seem to be at that point where if we don't now, we won't ever.

Starting with: Once during the adventure, each PC can reroll one initiative check. (please do better than a 3! =)
Unsure if Kivuli would want to take advantage of this as well.

Then the Liberty's Edge and Exchange boons (increase land speed by 10, and increase the enhancement bonus of all weapons by 2)

Bambang also knows that Vrocks are immune to electricity and poison. They are able to formulate a dance called a Dance of Ruin. If completed a burst of energy explodes sending electricity arcing out to all in 100 feet. Every few seconds a Vrock can release a wave of choking spores that grow into thick green vines.

Bambang seems to have extensive knowledge on demonkind as he also is aware that Shadow Demons are also immune to cold, electricity, and poison.

Bambang's body splits out as if clones leap out from his soul. Kivuli rushes the demonic chamber as his blade splits the Vrock's chest wide open. Numerous ribs stands exposed and broken from the devastating injury.

A spiritual weapon appears beside the shadow demon as the kukri's force magical effect cuts into the shadow with ease.

Wow, was thinking he just made it supernaturally dark, which would have blinded every single demon on the battlefield too... but its just dark! Ok, that's not quite as bad.

As the room goes dark, Theo swears, knowing a great many of the Absalom forces are human, and will be a severe disadvantage in such conditions.

Unable to reach the shadow demon to try to put a stop to the darkness, he instead heads for the vrock, his newfound speed allowing him to reach it, though not without exposing himself to the vrock's longer reach.

Single move, provoking an AoO at the end, from the vrock

Was going to activate the Scarab Sages boon, to give Kivuli a chance to flank, but you have to hit for that to count right? So might want to hold off while the mirror images are active?

Can activate the Sovereign Court boon, which gives us timely inspiration, for +2 to hit and damage for 3 rounds!

He slams his tetsubo down at the vulture-headed creature hoping to add more damage to those Kivuli already caused... but there are so many images, he's not sure he's swinging at the right one anymore!

Melee vs vrock, pa, boons: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 37, for 1d10 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 27 damage (minus DR)

He calls for Fairbeaks behind him, but the axebeak is not so fortunate as the dwarf in the visual acuity department, and sees only a wall of darkness in front of him! Instead of charging in to attack as well, he instead just homes in on Theo's voice, slinking up behind him, squawking nervously at his inability to see anything, friend or foe!

Double move for Fairbeaks, since everything is difficult terrain when he can't see. So no attack for him.

edit: confirm?: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24, for an additional 3d10 + 51 ⇒ (10, 3, 7) + 51 = 71 damage.

GM, the template you used for the pit doesn't look right. It's a 10x10 hole, not a 10' diameter. Where you have it, it would completely miss Theo and Kivuli.. (we'd just be on the sloped edges, and only have to save if we end our turn there (at +2)) For now, I'm assuming you meant to put it one square to the right, and thus just the vrock is on the sloped edge (though given he can fly, a non-issue I imagine)
Anyway, put a template I think works for the pits on there (in orange). Inner square the pit, outer square the sloped area.

Theo Reflex: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 2 + 2 = 29, Theo Will: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 2 + 2 = 12
Fairbeaks Reflex: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 8 + 2 = 20, Fairbeaks Will: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 2 = 5

Hmm.. if we make the reflex, is the will save still relevant? We both made the reflex, but failed the will
For now, will assume the reflex was enough, if not, ignore the rest of this.

As the shadow pit opens up underneath him, Theo swears, diving to the side, to avoid falling in. Behind him, Fairbeaks gives a startled squawk, and leaps the other way, tiny useless remnants of wings flapping, as if trying to remember how to fly.

Finding himself still on the slope around the edges, the dwarf then scrabbles to the side slightly to get firmer ground underfoot, then tries to figure out which of the many demons is the real one!

5' step, then full attack

Melee: 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 13 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 31, for 1d10 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 26 damage (minus DR)

(image?: 1d6 ⇒ 3) *image*

He calls to Fairbeaks, and the bird rushes around the outside of the pit, moving in to flank with Theo.

Use flank trick, to get Fairbeaks to move to a flanking position. He will then bite once

bite vs vrock: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 19, for 2d6 + 14 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5, 3) + 14 + 2 + 2 = 26 damage (minus DR)
(image?: 1d5 ⇒ 3) *image*

Between the two of them, neither manages to make solid contact with anything, all of their attacks hitting nothing but illusions! Though they do reduce the total number of vrocks to four, one of which was sure to be the real one... right?

Thanks Theo. The reflex is still enough. The will save is because you still interacted with the shadow conjuration and now disbelieve it making it only 20% real if you do fall into it later.

Theo and Fairbeaks manage to fling themselves from the edges of the pit as they burst half of the images surrounding the Vrock.

Bambang thinks tactically as his greatsword ends the Shadow Demon, sending it back where it belongs.

GM, I saw your attack rolls, and was puzzled by the AC 28... how the hell do I have AC 28? I rechecked by sheet and can find no reason for that. (I may have doubled up on the barskin by accident when updating the stat line?). Should only be 25 I think! So one of the claws would have hit too, and the bite would have confirmed.
(But could then activate the boon to make him reroll that confirmation roll, at least)

"What in the hells is happening?!" He shouts with some distress, as vines start to grow out of his body! "Some sort of demonic curse!"

Knowing nothing of demons, or what to do about it, he presses the attack, stepping after the demon, trying to figure out which is the real one as he swings his tetsubo some more.

5' step, full attack again.

image?: 1d2 ⇒ 2 *image*

One of his blows seems to hit something solid, but the other whiffs once more... Fairbeaks has even worse luck, the bird squawking angrily as his beak bites down on illusions again!

With only one target left to swing at though, the last of the demon's distractions appears to be gone!

***OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT***

The wicked glabrezu Katazuul, pierced by ballista bolts and scorched by spells, collapses as her portal sputters and closes. A moment later, a brass horn sounds a triumphant fanfare to announce that the fiend-flesh army has been routed. The march back to Absalom is a jubilant one, though rumors are running wild through the streets as to exactly who the invaders were, what they wanted, and why undead spies sprang to life shortly after beacons appeared around Skyreach. Despite rampant speculation of the Grand Lodge’s involvement in the invasion, the citizens as a whole recognize the heroism with which Pathfinder agents personally averted disaster and rode at the vanguard of the city’s victorious forces. Absalom’s primarch Lord Gyr—whom few remember seeing during the attack—remains silent on the matter, though Siege Lord Wynsal Starborn delivers a speech within the hour personally recognizing the Society’s key role in protecting the City at the Center of the World.

At the Grand Lodge, Ollysta Zadrian recounts news of the victory. “Soon after we stormed the siege castle and slew Katazuul, Absalom’s navy from Escadar arrived and sank what remained of the undead armada. Once again, Absalom has prevailed in the face of adversity!” Raising her armored fist in celebration, Zadrian shouts: “For Absalom! Absalom! Absalom!”

Master of Swords Marcos Farabellus seems only to have grown more concerned since the siege began, and he confirms what many agents had discovered earlier. “Based on many reports from Pathfinders, we have a reason to believe the attack was a concerted effort driven by several enemies of the Pathfinder Society. We now know that it was Pasha Muhlia Al-Jakri—once a respected leader of many Pathfinders—who used the Black Echelon codebook to summon the undead saboteurs. We have reason to believe Grandmaster Torch was involved, at least enough that his minions attempted to usurp Gulgamodh to turn against Absalom. Finally, we learned the demons in the siege castle were vassals of a powerful demon that’s no stranger to the Society, and it is not difficult to deduce that ex-venture-captain Thurl had a hand in creating the fiend-flesh army. Today, we emerged victorious, and I assure you that we shall ascertain these villains’ true motives and put a stop to them.”

That’s the end! Thank you for playing, everyone, and a particular thank you to all the hardworking GMs and backup GMs that made made this special possible.
