Male Half-elf Unarmed Fighter 1/Bard 4

Am I still 100ft down the length of the perimeter fence? Or are we saying I caught up with the group and went with them without trouble?

Male Human (Varisian) Songhealer Bard 4

Jordon looks puzzled, and waits to see if anyone else makes a move first.

Male human Soundstriker Bard 4

Hmm...

Jordon, you and I could disguise ourselves as guards, and try to bluff our way in. These guys are new workers, ready to start this evening?

If Jordon Acquiesces, before we disguise, I'll give us each a hit of Heroism from my wand. +2 morale bonus on attack rolls, saves, and skill checks, 40 minute duration.

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32, RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Victor, you can say you caught up with them if you want.

Male Human (Varisian) Songhealer Bard 4

Jordon nods to Roger, and moves his hand in front of his face (and activates his hat of disguise). As he does so, his face becomes ruinous and decayed, resembling one of the undead the group has already encountered (we'll say one of the guys menacing the woman). He says in a pretty poor gurgly undead voice, "Good idea." Then Jordon clears his throat and practices a few more times to get the voice right. He then gets in a bit of practice with improper posture and shuffling as he waits for Roger's disguise.

Male human Soundstriker Bard 4

Roger, after he uses heroism on himself and Jordon, casts disguise self, turning into the other undead that was harassing the woman. He practices a few times, until he can get the voice about right, and nods. You guys, don't talk, alright? It'll be easier that way. And Tobar, you can get in here. Anyone under 200lbs can also get in. It might make this easier if we don't have many new recruits. Anyone have rope, or manacles?

As he speaks directly to Tobar, he's taking out his Bag of Holding.

Male Half-elf Unarmed Fighter 1/Bard 4

"I'm not sure how I feel about going inside a bag..."

Victor pauses for a moment, then adds, "What if I hide in the shadows, and cast vanish if things get hairy?"

Male human Soundstriker Bard 4

Whatever works for you.

Not in use

Tobar affixes Roger with a did you just ask me what I thought you asked me look and just states "Nay lad - I'm not crawling into no sack. I'll just follow behind you, I'm small enough to keep out of view."

Male human Soundstriker Bard 4

Alright then, just thought it might make things easier. Roger, once he puts his sack away, takes his dagger out, holding it behind Rekkstuff, so as to make it look as if he were being held against his will. Well then, now's as good a time as any, I guess.

Male Human (Varisian) Songhealer Bard 4

Jordon starts to shamble toward the entryway, attempting to look as undead as he can.

Disguise check: Take 10 = 29.

Male human Soundstriker Bard 4

Roger does as well, leading Rekkstuff in front of him.

I'll take 10 too, for a 26. Remember, Jordon, about Heroism. Your total should be two higher.

The guards at the door barely react to your presence. "Prisoner?" one of them asks. "Put him in the lock-up." They shuffle aside to let you in, and you step into a small lobby. In front of you is a door to the large smithing area, where several undead beat at red-hot shafts of iron. To the side is a set of stairs leading to an upper level.

Male Half-elf Unarmed Fighter 1/Bard 4

Sorry, I feel a little lost. Am I pretending to be a prisoner? Or am I sneaking in behind them, crouching a bit and using them for cover? I'd prefer to be sneaking, if possible. Doing so and taking 10 would give me a 17. Taking 10 on a bluff check to act like a prisoner would give me a 13.

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32, RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Last you said, you were hiding in the shadows. So unless you want to do something else instead, right now you're just skulking around outside.

Not in use

As I see it - Rekk, Jordon and Roger went in; leaving Victor and myself outside...

Male human Soundstriker Bard 4

I thought you were going to sneak in behind me? This is why I offered you the spot in the BoH.

Not in use

I was, when I thought we were sneaking into somewhere sight unseen - but the text above kind of indicates that we made a beeline straight for a guarded door.
I ain't that sneaky.

Male Human (Varisian) Songhealer Bard 4

If Tobar were to stop Jordon and tug on his clothing, and tell him he needs cover, Jordon could hide him underneath his disguise's clothing. After all, he's really skinny, and I could've made the disguise with a large overcoat or something similar. As for Victor, I don't really have any idea there; I don't think we can fit all three of us under my disguise's coat...

Male Half-elf Unarmed Fighter 1/Bard 4

Hm, maybe I'll sneak around outside and look for an unguarded and unlit window to sneak in through.

Taking 10 for your stealth?

Male Half-elf Unarmed Fighter 1/Bard 4

Yep, as well as my Perception to find a good entry point.

Not in use

Tobar follows Victor along the fence line.

Take 10 on Stealth also for a 16

Guards' perception: 1d20 ⇒ 19

As Tobar and Victor skulk along the edge of the building, a guard raises a shout. "Oy, you lot! Hold it right there! Intruders!"

You can hear the hurried footsteps of the undead chasing you, and they seem to be only seconds away. However above you is a dimly-lit window, covered with soot.

Male Half-elf Unarmed Fighter 1/Bard 4

Cast vanish, then into the window I go!

Not in use

Tobar mutters "Bugger this" and starts to run back towards the pub screaming "I HAVE MANGOES!"

Male Half-elf Unarmed Fighter 1/Bard 4

Just in case, I cast (while still invisible and inside the building) ghost sound to sound like a second pair of footsteps running alongside Tobar.

Male Human (Varisian) Songhealer Bard 4

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

Jordon hears something about mangoes very faintly in the distance, and quietly asks the others with him, "Hey, you hear that?"

Male human Soundstriker Bard 4

Perception1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Roger whispers back: Sounds like Tobar couldn't make it in.

The window is in the second story, but the wall beneath it is old, pitted brick, with much ivy trailing up the sides.

Make a climb check to get up.

Male Half-elf Unarmed Fighter 1/Bard 4

With the nature of the situation, I'm assuming I can't take 10, so... CLIMB!!!!
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32, RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Victor scrambles at the wall, but can't find purchase on the bricks. Two undead grab him by the collar from behind, and drag him toward the front door. "What do you think you're up to, bloke?" one of them asks.

"Better throw him in the lock-up until the Master can get to him."

Male human Soundstriker Bard 4

I thought he'd cast vanish? Gonna be kinda difficult to see him.

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32, RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Ah, I'd missed that vanishing. Ignore that last post, and read this one instead:

Victor scrambles at the wall, but can't find purchase on the bricks. Two undead run up to where he tried to climb up, and Victor goes rigid waiting for them to pass. They look puzzled for a moment, then fan out into the bushes to look for that guy they swore they saw...

Male Half-elf Unarmed Fighter 1/Bard 4

Now that the guards have fanned out, I'll try getting into the window again: CLIMB VICTOR CLIMB!!!

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32, RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Victor:
Victor barely manages to get up the wall as the brick crumbles beneath his hands and feet. He tumbles through the window upstairs and onto a warm wooden floor. The room is dark, and shows no sign of activity. All around him are racks and racks of crudely constructed iron weapons.

Male Half-elf Unarmed Fighter 1/Bard 4

Victor's Adventure:
Victor takes in his surroundings for a moment. "Making weapons, eh?" he thinks to himself. "In a place run by undead? That can't be good."

Victor takes a few minutes to search the area, looking for any sort of identifying marks on the ironworks (boss's initials, perhaps?) or other documentation, clues, secrets, etc. Unless interrupted, I'll take 20 on Perception, for a final result of 28 looking for clues/secrets. If I don't have that long, then I guess I take 10 for an 18. Oh, and I'm not invisible anymore, but I'll try to be quiet, taking 10 on Stealth for 17.

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32, RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Victor:
There are no brands or any such thing on the weapons, but you can see that they are not even masterwork-level craftsmanship. There are also no desks or filing cabinets to contain any documentation. It's just weapons, weapons, and more weapons. There is only a single door to the room, and it appears to be locked from the outside.

Is anyone besides Victor going to look around or do anything?

Male human Soundstriker Bard 4

Well, now where to?

Male Half-elf Unarmed Fighter 1/Bard 4

RainyDayNinja:
Is there a space under the door? Can I peek under at all, even enough to see if there's foot traffic on the other side or something? For that matter, is there any light coming in under the door?

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32, RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Victor:
There is a little light coming through under the door, but not enough to see anything by.

Male Human (Varisian) Songhealer Bard 4

Jordon strides purposefully toward the smithy door, keeping his shambling gait as he goes, and opens them up to look beyond. He makes sure to keep the ruse of having a prisoner as he goes, in case anyone is watching.

Male human Soundstriker Bard 4

Well, c'mon Rekkstuff, here we go.

Roger will follow Jordon to the smithy.

Male Half-elf Unarmed Fighter 1/Bard 4

Hmmm... I guess I can't do anyone much good from in here, so..."

Victor silently pleads with Desna to let the hallway be empty right now, then backs up and shoulder-rams the locked door.

Strength check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32, RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Victor:

You're stunned for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds.

The undead in the main smithing area don't look up as you enter, instead just mindlessly pounding away at their work. The heat in the room is stifling, but they don't seem to care. Some of the undead seem to be fresher than others, even as little as a few days (un)dead. There's a closed door on the far side of the room, and a large open door way to your left, full of cauldrons of red-hot molten iron.

Male Half-elf Unarmed Fighter 1/Bard 4

Ow...

Male Human (Varisian) Songhealer Bard 4

I assume there are no non-undead present?

Jordon strides straight through the room, doing his best to keep an air of nonchalance as he looks about. He goes toward the door in the back.

Male human Soundstriker Bard 4

Roger will also move toward the door in the back.

Not in use

Tobar makes his way back to the bar he left... not really looking forward to see the chaos that their pesky promoter had wrought in his absence...

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32, RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

Everyone you see appears to be undead.

When you reach the door on the opposite side, you see that it's locked from the inside. One of the undead smiths looks up at you dully. "The Master's busy," he mumbles, and goes back to his work.

Meanwhile, back at the tavern, Vinny is leading the patrons in a rousing rendition of "The Hedgehog Can Never Be Buggered."
