Dilana Hemlock |
Dilana moves up onto the stairs and gets ready.
Shifting nervously from foot to foot while they ready themselves she thinks how much easier it is to simply act then wait.
"If the flesh eaters are in there we should not wait. They sealed their own fates already."
Olimpia Beta II |
They are likely waiting for us. the rogue says quietly. Then making sure that her party is ready Olimpia opens the door taying hidden behind it and to the side.
Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Roga, savage technologist |
Knowing full well he was not the stealthiest of the group, Roga let the scouts do their work while he loosened his sword and made sure his double=barreled pistol was loaded and ready to fire.
Valeria Starr |
Although she had only been travelling with the group for a few days now, Valeria was quite impressed by how they handled themselves. While she waits for the doors to open she reaches into her belt pouch and withdraws a small stone. Rolling it in between her thumb and forefinger she waits for the doors to open.
Valeria has a Thunderstone in her hand and as soon as the doors are open wide enough she will toss it in. Far enough back so as not to catch any of her allies in it's burst radius.
GM_DBH |
Fort: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
The Thunderstone goes off, causing a shriek of surprise form the hulking figure waiting in the room.
As the party was ready for the door to be opened you can all take an action except for Olimpia, who opened the door. You see four more of the thugs, and a big Ogrekin Barbarian (Red) in the room.
Raktar Garnok |
As Olimpia hauls the door open, Raktar heaves on the handle of his door, opening up the space to allow the others to shoot in. He is greeted by a number of Smiler thugs, one of which is the largest and ugliest gang member he's ever had the misfortune to see.
Move Action to open the right-hand door.
GM - is this a surprise round, therefore limiting us to a single action? If not, I'll 5ft step in and attack blue.
Raktar Garnok |
Excellent, thanks.
With a thug standing right on the other side of the door Raktar takes the fight to them, stepping forward smoothly and bringing his hammer round to crush bone.
Hammer Attack, bless, bull's strength, Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 1 + 2 - 1 = 20
Damage, bull's strength, Power Attack: 3d6 + 5 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (5, 2, 6) + 5 + 2 + 3 = 23
Valeria Starr |
Valeria moves into the room, drawing her weapon as she goes. Once clear of the doors she moves to the left to clear a path for the others. Aiming at the big orgekin she fires.
Attack roll (ranged touch, PBS, deadly aim): 1d20 + 10 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 1 - 2 = 19
Damage (PBS, deadly aim, up close and deadly): 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 4 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 + 4 + (4, 4) = 21
She will spend a point of Grit to activate Up Close and Deadly and announce her presence with authority.
Dilana Hemlock |
Dilana stays where she is, waiting for those more useful in the front of a fight to go in first.
Roga, savage technologist |
With the door opened, Roga discarded the pistol and relied on his sword. His big sword.
he ate up the distance separating him from his first foe and used strong, core muscles to swing his heavy blade.

Red shrieks in fear as Valeria blows a gaping hole through him. When Roga steps in and slams his sword into him with a mighty blow he looks almost happy?
He howls in berserk rage and swings his heavy club at Roga.
Greatclub - PA: 1d20 + 15 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 15 - 2 = 30
Damage + PA: 1d10 + 14 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 6 = 21 Oh come on! Minimum damage. :(
Teal groaned in pain as Raktar's heavy weapon staggered. He grits his teeth and swings back with his heavy club.
Greatclub: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
The blow clangs loudly off one of the walls, a poor strike.
Green scrambles up and attacks Valeria
Greatclub: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
His blow nearly as bad as his comrades.
Orange & yellow both come to the aid of Red

Greatclub Yellow: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Debilitating Injury: Disoriented. Foe who takes sneak attack damage takes -2 attack penalty (-4 against rogue) for 1 rd.
After firing she drops the musket and draws a blade.

Faced with a brute in front of her, Valeria quickly reloads her pistol and places against the man's abdomen before squeezing the trigger.

Raktar Garnok |
Rattan barely notices the glancing blow from the Smiler's club as it bounces off his armour. He feels nothing but contempt for these maniacs and has no qualms about attacking the clearly outclassed ganger. He swings his hammer again, the head leaving a trail of sparks through the air.
Standard Action to attack blue. If he dies, I'll 5ft step forward to block orange from approaching any further.

Yellow, Orange & Red all scream as flames burn them from
Figgy's accurate bomb. The room now carries the stench of cooked flesh.
Reflex Orange: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Roga ends Red's existence with a savage blow, following it up by cutting down the screaming Yellow.

GM_DBH |
No actually. That's his AC, so you hit and killed both Green and Orange. Raktar wastes Teal and the fight is over. Loot in the Discussion page.
It goes quiet again as the welcoming committee now decorates the wall and floors. The are exits to the room North and east.
What are you doing now?
Raktar Garnok |
The room is suddenly silent as the last defenders fall and Raktar notices that he is breathing heavily, the exertion of swinging his massive hammer finally catching up with him.
"We should move on quickly, before the inhabitants get more time to prepare for our attack," he says, moving over towards the eastern doorway and listening for any hint of defenders beyond.

Figgy The door isn't trapped, you open it to find the Smilers living area.
H3. Barracks.
The air in this room smells of smoke and burnt meat . A crude stove made of a metal barrel resting atop blocks of stone sits in the middle of an open area, while numerous doors line the walls.
The stove in the middle of the room is where the Smilers cook their meals an investigation quickly turns up tooth-gnawed human remains tossed into the ashes in the barrel.
Perception Figgy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Figgy easily spots the poorly concealed secret door at the north end of the hall.
Olimpia Your door isn't trapped either. It opens onto a wide hallway that turns to the west and ends in double doors.
What are you doing now?
Sorry for the slowness, I haven't played live since before Christmas and yesterday suddenly became a game day, so I had my first gaming session of 2018. :)
Figgy Greasefitter |
Totally understandable
Figgy moves into the living quarters, noting the door but moving to the cooking fire first. Figgy makes note of the bones and where they came from covering them a bit more to keep them from being noted unless someone digs.
"Secret door in here, could lead to some where fun."
I didn't hide the bones as an evil act just figgy remembers how people reacted before and we need to keep our heads on.
Valeria Starr |
Valeria will move to a spot where she can cover Figgy as he explores the room.
Readied action to fire as soon as one of those doors open.
Olimpia Beta II |
Closing her door for now, Olympia rejoins the others to check out the secret door. She will instinctively check it for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Dilana Hemlock |
Dilana follows the others in, crossbow in hand and nose wrinkled up at being in the living quarters of cannibals.
Maybe we should burn this place when we move on. Yes, that might be for the best I think. It would be terrible for some wronged spirit to be tied to this place.
She examins the walls to see if there is enough flamable material that she could set it on fire before she left.
Raktar Garnok |
Raktar moves up with Figgy and the others, ready to back up Olimpia should something unexpected come through the no-longer-secret door. The stink in the room is almost overwhelming, a combination of greasy smoke and human filth, and Raktar is grateful for his strong stomach.
GM_DBH |
Olimpia finds no trap and opens the secret door. 15 feet west it ends in another secret door. Opening this door reveal a large chamber.
This large chamber contains several metal tables adorned with
tangles of strange devices sporting metallic, articulated arms, many of which end in blades, needles, saws, or other implements of surgery.
The whole area reeks of blood and old guts, and telltale rusty brown stains besmirch the floor and walls . Lighting is provided by several burning skulls sitting here and there throughout the room.
Three creatures guard this room, immobile until you open the door, they are obviously undead, but their bodies have had rusting machinery crudely added in an attempt to ape living cyborgs.
The party may act first. What are you doing?
Raktar Garnok |
Raktar stands ready behind Olimpia as she inspects then opens the door. The room beyond is a charnel house, a scene of butchery and horror. The creatures within are unnatural, their dead flesh and rusty machine parts fused together in an affront to Brigh and to all living creatures.
Knowledge (religion) to identify?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
As the creatures lurch into motion, Raktar is through the door, hammer raised, ready to take down the nearest before it can block the group's way in. His hammer swings down at the creature to pound it back into death.

Rust-Risen.
Defensive Abilities: absorb electricity; Immune: undead traits
Rust-risen lurk in the burned-out husks of ancient space-faring vessels and among the grease and blood stained laboratories of mad, technologist necromancers.
These hideous undead mockeries riddled with the remnants of ancient technology. Rotting creatures, outfitted with twitching relics of a spacefaring race, that prey on the living by tearing their victims to shreds with gnashing drills, vivisecting scalpels, and flailing exsanguination tubes.
Raktar Garnok |
"These abominations are fuelled by unlife and by electricity," Raktar calls out, recognising them as rust-risen - a reviled amalgamation of dead tissue and rotting machinery, hated by the worshippers of Brigh as a mockery of all things solid and precise.
Roga, savage technologist |
why was Roga so far back in line? :(
Roga moved quickly down the hallway and unleashed his double-barreled pistol on one of the undead.

While ghastly in appearance the rust-risen are slow and poorly constructed, they fall immediately to the weapons and guns of the party.
Raktar crunched one, everybody else blew the other two away in one round.
A door to the south, double door to the west. What is the party doing now?
No loot on either the Rust-risen, or in the room.
Raktar Garnok |
Crushing the skull of the rust-risen beneath his boot as he passes, Raktar walks towards the southern door. "This one is nearest. I think we should check it before we go deeper into the complex."
Olimpia Beta II |
Give me a sec. Being thorough, Olimpia checks the South door before checking the double doors then searches the room.

Dilana move further into the room looking at the fallen creatures. After poking one with her toe to make sure it was dead she sighs.
"So they eat people and then do something like this. Makes me feel I was right to abandon my shop and change my life. Things like this... they shouldn't happen."
Raktar Garnok |
Raktar nods his head sadly. "It's not right, is it? How do people fall so low, become so degenerate? If this is Hellion's doing then I'm glad we're working against it."
