Dilana Hemlock |
Dilana stays close to the pack wondering what just happened. For a moment she is tempted to fly upward and look but quickly thinks better of it.
Olimpia Beta II |
Shaking her head Olimpia responds I'm, not sure. She regards her empty hand for a moment in confusion before drawing her black blade and advancing. She checks the first door she comes to for traps before seeing if it is locked.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Dilana Hemlock |
"Wait one second. Let me see if I can sense any magic influences."
Dilana casts detect magic and takes her time shifting her focus from area to area looking for first the presence of magic and then focusing in form there.
Raktar Garnok |
"Maybe this place is haunted," Raktar suggests, still watching carefully for signs of nefarious activity. "There's definitely something weird going on, but that's not a big surprise in this town."
Olimpia Beta II |
Assuming she found no traps at the door and has checked to see if it was locked, Olimpia, looking back to Dilana to make sure she is ready, opens the door.
Dilana Hemlock |
Dilana shrugs "Not getting anything." and follows the rest of the group sticking to the rear but now holding her pistol in one hand.
Dilana Hemlock |
"Still may be something worth finding. Lets search the place at least."
Despite the desier to look around Dilana waits for pretty much anyone else to lead the way.
Either side works and just work around the place?
GM_DBH |
There is nothing in the Receiver array, you have been through it twice and aside from a small nest in N6 the only things left here from the purge by the Lords of rust is the corpses of the Chokers that once lived here.
Olimpia does not remember anything odd happening to her as she searched the Array.
What are you doing now?
Raktar Garnok |
"This place is strange, but there seems little value in it," Raktar says. "Should we look into the haunted gorge next?"
Dilana Hemlock |
[b] "A haunted gorge... I have never dealt with ghosts or spirits, not sure if my powers will work on them so should be interesting." [b/]
Valeria Starr |
Valeria looks around a the strange equipment "So what exactly was this place's purpose. What were we supposed to do here?"
GM_DBH |
Can everyone put their AC, Saves, Init and Perception in their header please. It makes things a lot easier for me when running things.
Will Dilana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Will Raktar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Will Roga: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Will Valeria: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Dilana as you head out you feel something trying to enter you r mind.
Stealth: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
Perception Dilana: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Perception raktar: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Perception Roga: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Perception Valeria: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
Roga & Valeria you both see a small black aberration floating in the air behind the party.
What are you doing now?
Dilana Hemlock |
Dilana whips her head around and again casts detect magic.
"There is something here. I can feel it."
Not seeing anything.
"Maybe someone is scrying us."

All that is in my header. I have to admit to still being confused. I asked a specific question and got no answer. Its almost like I am looking at the wrong map. Does Olimpia see the information on the map, with all the stairs and doors, or not?
Raktar Garnok |
It doesn't take long for you to determine the receiver array is both deserted, and has been stripped of anything useful, bloodstains mark where the Chokers fell to the Lords of rust.

Olimpia, as you creep through the ruined complex you cannot help feeling you are being observed. Suddenly you feel a mind attempting to invade yours, you cast it out easily.

Looking around you still see nothing, the only sign of lfe is the wreckage in N6, which seems to have been gathered to make a small nest?
Olimpia - I think that was covered. We've looked around the whole area and found nil of note.
Jeremiah Johnston |
I'M BACK! And I'm better than ever-
"Should I shot them down or what?"
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 ...Now back to the show.
"If you're talking about me, I'd perfer it if you didn't fill me full of daylight." quipped a familiar voice as it rounded a corner and caught sight of his companions.
Dilana Hemlock |
"It felt like something poking at my mind. I... I just don't know."
She looks for whatever Roga is referring to suggesting.
"Shoot first seems to be the way in Scrapwall." she pauses when she see JJ and smiles "Oh... don't shoot him."
GM_DBH |
Figgy & Olimpia are up on the walkway and out of view at the moment. The map doesn't make it very clear but there is an entrance way and you both have line of sight blocked. Which is also why the pair of you are not making saving rolls for the spell, or Perception checks.
Olimpia, I have stated several times the entire complex has been searched and nothing has been found, aside from the small nest. Which was just scrap piled together. You got Perception checks when the creature tried it's initial spells on you and didn't spot it. It has Invisibily at will and a very high Stealth. Unless it's actually casting where it can be seen it's nearly impossible to spot.
Raktar Garnok |
"Shoot what down?" Raktar asks, turning to look at whatever Roga is aiming at. His concentration is broken by a familiar voice.
"Hey, JJ! Raktar calls, the tension of the haunted place suddenly dissipating as his old friend returns. "Good to have you back."

To be clean you stated "There is nothing in the Receiver array". That did not communicate to me that we searched this entire complex. I did not know that the entire complex was the "Receiver array" and I only now guess, from your comments, that it must be. I was confused, not arguing. I have no issue with your ruling, but I was saying things like I open the door and you never said that a door was opened or reacted to multiple posts to help me understand what was going on. I was honestly thinking I might be on the wrong map or something.
Valeria Starr |
Valeria catches a glimpse of something out of the corner of her eye. Spinning she brings her zap gun to bear and fires.
Attack roll (ranged touch): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
GM_DBH |
@Olimpia. Sorry if it wasn't clear. The whole complex is called the Receiver array. And it has been stripped bare when the residents were slaughtered. You were attacked in the hallway, when the attempt failed your attacker wiped your memory. Then flew outside invisibly to try it's luck with softer targets. About the only point in coming here is to destroy the big receiving dish up top by blowing up the complex. This will stop Hellion from finding another source of power to drain as he did in Torch. Something else I haven't been very clear about I now realize. :(
Roga, savage technologist |
Following Dilana's advaice, the barbarian emptied his double-barrelled pistol at the black floating sphere.
--------------------
pistol to hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2
pistol to hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
Do I roll twice or just once?

I did not know this. Thanks for letting us know GM. We'll have to work out how to destroy it then.
Jeremiah Johnston |
Seeing shots rocket off at what appeared to be random made JJ flinch. "Whoa whoa! Are we shooting something? 'cause that seems like a bit much for fanfare." JJ said, grabbing his double barreled pistol and raising it whilst looking for the source of their ruckas.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Raktar Garnok |
Raktar hears the shots go off, a cacophony in the enclosed space. "What are we shooting at now?" he asks, looking around again for whatever the hells is going on here.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Dilana Hemlock |
"I have no idea what is going on. I thought they were going to shoot JJ."
She looks around slowly.
"Whatever was poking at my mind seems to have stopped. Not sure what else we can do here."
Figgy Greasefitter |
Figgy and springy come running back up at the noise of all the guns going off.
"I don't think there is anything here we could just move on." Figgy does sound a bit disappointed.
Roga, savage technologist |
Roga has a good mind to throw his pistol to the ground; it sure has not been what he thought it would be.
"The little black ball that was floating around. I asked and you said we shoot first and ask questions later, remember?"
He turned to Valeria, "You saw them too, right?"
Olimpia Beta II |
Perhaps if we begin to destroy the place it will come and try to stop us. Olimpis postulates. We do have grenades.
Jeremiah Johnston |

JJ shakes his head and kicked one of the walls. "Simple grenades might not be strong enough for this. Even if it's old, it's probably still made of galucite. We'd need something with a bit more oomph. It'd take me forever to make enough black powder though. Might be better to come back later if we want to hunt this thing."
Raktar Garnok |
"A little black ball?" asks Raktar, mystified. "This really is a strange place." He listens carefully to JJ, who obviously knows a lot more about explosions than anyone else. "Maybe Dinvaya has something we can use to destroy the array," he says hopefully.
Raktar Garnok |
On to the haunted canyon would be my vote.
Dilana Hemlock |
"So these ghosts? Any of you ever dealt with one, think my spells and hexes will bother them?"
Know Arcana: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21 what would she know about spirits and ghosts.
Figgy Greasefitter |
"We could make this place our own later if you wanted but if you blow it up it can't be ours." Figgy says with thoughts of labs everywhere floating in his head. "The canyon next? Might be some fun technology there."
