My plans have changed dramatically (in a good way in fact), so I'll be bearer a computer than I thought this Summer. I'll give the dates where I can't post as usual.

Lol! I just died on this! That's so true! I can just see this guy running all terrible looking like. Physically inclined, he is not. That's perfect, dude. :)

I thought that you would like that.

;P

Map

Please note that I'll be far from a computer from Thursday the 28, until probably Sunday the 8. I might have limited access, but nothing is certain at this moment.

I'll have time to post before leaving :)

We have another day to ratchet up the tension another notch or two...plenty of time!

I'll be out of town for the next couple of days, and with my laptop out of commission won't be able to readily post. Back Sunday evening.

Please note I probably won't be able to post from Friday to Monday.

If he cast a spell, wouldn't I get an AoO before he hit me with that 3d6 damage?

Spell was already cast here. He was holding the charge. He's had it readied to attack you since here. Hence Mireza trying to give you a chance to get out of melee touch attack range. :P

lol - oh well.

I was counting on the spell to be going another round.

There is still Iozef... I think he might have a channel left.

This has got to be the longest and tedious fight I've ever run. The terrain has quite an impact!

Hang in there, I feel the end coming for either you or me ;p

Urban Ranger 3 (Watchman) Male Human Ustalav Init +2 (+4) AC18|Touch 12|FlatFoot 14| CMD 19| HP:32/32 |Ft +5|Rx +5|Wl +5| Percept +9(+11) Snse Mot +9

In all fairness I think this is actually a good thing. Terrain + Environment have combined well together - while I think we have sucked arse at critical moments and franky things haven't gone well (this is thanks to Grigor being well... Grigor, though he'll revert to sneaky bastard after this) I have enjoyed the combat and the challenge.

The Zombies were the biggest issue - normally they may not be a big deal but 12 of them was a lot and they are hard to kill in combat but those ghouls chewed a lot of our resources including the channelling we could have used to blast through them.

***INACTIVE*** HP 37/40 AC 19/Touch AC 13/FF AC 15 (16 w/buckler); Fort +6, Ref +5, Will +7 Inquisitor/7

That was the thing that I realized partway into the ghoul fight--Windle should have been standing off and using undead bane arrows against *them*, and that way Iozef would have had more channels left. Ah, well. Hindsight. That, and having Windle pick up a better slashing weapon, because inquisitors can be pretty tough.

Map

As I had mentioned in the recruitment post, this module could be used as a tie in to the Carrion Crown AP, or could also be followed by other modules, or could stand alone.

Let me know what you would like. It's a good time for me to build the ties to whatever future we wish to give this game.

Urban Ranger 3 (Watchman) Male Human Ustalav Init +2 (+4) AC18|Touch 12|FlatFoot 14| CMD 19| HP:32/32 |Ft +5|Rx +5|Wl +5| Percept +9(+11) Snse Mot +9

Off to Thailand for a week. Back on 31st.

***INACTIVE*** HP 37/40 AC 19/Touch AC 13/FF AC 15 (16 w/buckler); Fort +6, Ref +5, Will +7 Inquisitor/7

I know we discussed a couple of modules at the outset; WotW was one, "Feast of Ravenmoor" was another, and I thought someone had brought up "From Shore to Sea." FoR is a bit low for us (3rd level) and the other two are a little high (WotW-9th; FStS-6th). I'm having a lot of fun with the character interactions, and I'd definitely like to continue. Now, in a lot of ways we punch below our level--no decent ACs, one tough melee specialist who can dish out a lot of damage, a pair of adequate melee combatants (with better missile capabilities), and a pair of noncombatants with little or no damage-dealing spell capability. Lots of healing, though; very good social and knowledge skills; and we're really hard to sneak up on.

Urban Ranger 3 (Watchman) Male Human Ustalav Init +2 (+4) AC18|Touch 12|FlatFoot 14| CMD 19| HP:32/32 |Ft +5|Rx +5|Wl +5| Percept +9(+11) Snse Mot +9

Grigor is up for it... assuming we survive this jaunt. We are not quite scrapping bottom for resources but we are close. One more tough battle COULD finish us.

***INACTIVE*** HP 37/40 AC 19/Touch AC 13/FF AC 15 (16 w/buckler); Fort +6, Ref +5, Will +7 Inquisitor/7

IIRC, both Windle and Iozef have Rings of Sustenance; two hours of sleep and they'll recover their daily use abilities--channels, bane rounds, and judgment. Windle hasn't done any spellcasting all adventure.

Divine spell recovery isn't tied to sleep but to a particular time of day, so it's once-per-24-hours only. Handy in that they don't need 8 hours of downtime, but if you miss your designated time to commune with Pharasma you can't renew spells, etc., until the same time the following day. Arcane casters, on the other hand, have to have 8 hours of rest, but if the party has to be on the move for 18 straight hours, they can get their spells back at any time of day, as long as they can sleep.

PRD>Magic>Divine Spells>Preparing Divine Spells wrote:
Time of Day: A divine spellcaster chooses and prepares spells ahead of time, but unlike a wizard, does not require a period of rest to prepare spells. Instead, the character chooses a particular time of day to pray and receive spells. The time is usually associated with some daily event. If some event prevents a character from praying at the proper time, she must do so as soon as possible. If the character does not stop to pray for spells at the first opportunity, she must wait until the next day to prepare spells.

Map

You'll have time to rest a bit.

Would you prefer modules or Carrion Crown?

Not knowing much about either option, I have no real preference. The single, strong storyline of an AP can be more aesthetically pleasing than a series of episodes that the DM has to come up with segues between, and we're a motley enough crew it might be hard to explain why a cop, 2 priests, an apothecary, and a fortune teller stick together over the long run without a clear goal set before us. Don't know how many modules there are set in Ustalav (or that can be modified to be set in Ustalav) and at the proper level for us.

Map

Btw, if we'd go for Carrion Crown, we'd come in the third part. And I found a way to segue into it.

Taldan Roguish Herbalist/7; Hp:45/45; AC:17/14/13; darkvision 60'; trapspotter 10'; perception +12

Aside from being freaked out, Valiard is up for pretty much anything...provided we survive this little jaunt.

Any ideas on how to get levels back guys?

If that was the spell I think it was, they're temporary negative levels that will come back on their own, given time. Otherwise, if they're the permanent kind, you'd better sell your business to pay for a casting of restoration. ;)

***INACTIVE*** HP 37/40 AC 19/Touch AC 13/FF AC 15 (16 w/buckler); Fort +6, Ref +5, Will +7 Inquisitor/7

If you have a good way to segue in, I'm up for CC--am currently in another PbP CC campaign, but we're only partway through the first part after several months. So I don't think it'll get to part three anytime soon.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Windle's right, big picture wise we ain't built for combat. We are built skill wise, though. I've been a part of two CC campaign's that both ended rather quickly.

I can roll with CC. The other pc I was running in the others is built more for it but there's no way I could switch to another pc. I really like the chemistry of this group. This is the oddest pairing of people. None of these people would ever hang out with each other just to be hanging out. That's why I find it so interesting how they just seem to click.

Rolling into book 3 at 5th level seems a bit low to me. Don't most book 3's have you around 7th? I know there's still more to do in this module but there can't possibly be 2 levels worth of stuff, can there?

I got another question: How long are we sickened? Or are we not suppose to know? I know Mireza's been sickened for like ever and I'm as curious as her if it's ever going to end. For her or for us.

Map

Regarding the level, You'd start at level 7 if the AP requires it. There 's no obligation to fight monsters to get to the level.

Regarding survivability, we could recruit, but I'd prefer to wait a bit and see, mostly for chemistry reasons.

The sikened condition will pass quickly as you get some fresh air.

I'm going to be out on the road through Sunday, so posting will be intermittent. Phones kind of suck for that sort of thing :-(, though I can at least keep up with the game. DMPC me as needed, Deimus.

Then chime in in-thread. You're the official city employee on the team, after all, and ought to have something to say to the Mayor and Commander. Did you lose your dot on the game thread?

Map

Yeah, probably what happened. I was away for little over a week after all :)

Urban Ranger 3 (Watchman) Male Human Ustalav Init +2 (+4) AC18|Touch 12|FlatFoot 14| CMD 19| HP:32/32 |Ft +5|Rx +5|Wl +5| Percept +9(+11) Snse Mot +9

This is in the ooc thread, no? :)

Part of the problem is that I was unaware we had restarted... just that the DM was away.

As to reporting in? No. The Mayor or government functionaries may well be in this up to their necks, if only by association, it makes for an unstable dynamic. I'm laying low... that way no one can give me (or us) orders to stay out of it later.

Map

I'll be away until Monday.

***INACTIVE*** HP 37/40 AC 19/Touch AC 13/FF AC 15 (16 w/buckler); Fort +6, Ref +5, Will +7 Inquisitor/7

A heads-up in advance: I'll be largely afk from 8/30 through 9/3; I'll be at WorldCon in Chicago. Anyone else going to be there?

After years of dithering, I have finally decided to try to run a play-by-post game. I'd be honored by your attention -- or just any kind words that won't make me want to run and hide. :)
