I'm just gonna assume that, with a 36 Int, and the ability to add a +13 to any skill check, Ace is able to operate the telescope without much difficulty

Ace begins to scan the sky with the telescope, and after a few minutes lets out a whoop "Aha! Found one! That's the Protector!" He's clearly quite excited.

Probably. Tyrrin doesn't technically have any skill in Profession (Astronomer), but she built the damn thing hah. The UI is meant for the general populace too (since she'd intended on sharing it with anyone who was interested anyway), so Ace should have no trouble.

Vai had followed her parents outside the cottage, once again holding Fei's hand. Compared to everything that was happening - all the anger that had been thrown around, including her own - the touch of Fei's hand was comforting, rather than frightening. Her rage had died when Tamrin had spoken, leaving an empty sadness instead.

The young monk knew that he was witnessing events that he should not be privy to. This was a family in the throes of a crisis that threatened to tear it apart, if the emotions flying about were any indication. The fact that Vai had a death grip on his hand (and the need from her that the gesture meant) was the only reason he did not try to excuse himself as quickly as possible. He kept a respectful silence as the events reached a crescendo and the family scattered.

Jaiye's ears drooped. "I...I'm not sure....I was gonna go join back up with Ssrena, you know? But...I don't think Ssrena actually cares if I'm there or not....and I dunno....it's kinda hard to get all worked up about lycan superiority these days. I'm just not feelin it. But I don't really have anywhere else to go either. All I'm really good at is beating people up....not exactly the world's most useful life skill."

"Everything is fine, Lang. Dara just had a bad dream." Lysander tells the young bender. "You can go back to sleep."

"Now, Dara, these are special gloves. I made a larger pair for myself so we can practice if you want to." Slipping his pair on, Lysander waves to Dara and "Hi!" appears in the air in gray latter's in front of him. "They can let you talk to people even if you aren't ready to speak. Would you like to try?" He asks, placing the smaller gloves in front of Dara.

Gloves + silent image + sign language = Subtitles. :)

"Eventually, I am going to have to return to my duties as my Mother's heir... not for a long while yet, I think. But when the time comes, I would be honoured if you would want to come and join me, perhaps serving as an official advisor. I... I want to attempt to make peace with the lycan tribes. I could use your help in that arena." Tyrrin knew it would cause an uproar at home if there was a lycan serving in an official capacity, but she didn't care. People had to get over their preconceived notions.

"And, for the record, you have plenty more to offer than simply beating people up, even if you don't realize it." Tyrrin added quietly, after the fact.

Dara nodded quickly and reached for the gloves eagerly, his eyes lighting up as he saw the word appear in the air.

He pulled them on and tried to mimic Lysander's action.

"I mean, I'm all for an end to the lycan wars, but...you know the lycans here at Avalon...we're outcasts from our packs. That's why we were so eager to join Ssrena to make a pack of our own."

Smiling a little at Dara's successful attempt, Lysander carefully signs in return so Dara can see.

"My name is Mr. Sandwalker. Is yours Dara?"

He shows Dara that nodding or shaking your head is the sign for yes or no with theses gloves.

"You never give yourself enough credit Jaiye. Not all forms of intelligence are learned from a book. You have knowledge which I cannot learn from a book, and experience besides. Not only that, but you offer a different perspective, and that is the most important part of being an advisor. If I wanted to be surrounded by elves who have the same opinions as me, I'd just line the walls with mirrors." Tyrrin can't help but grin at both the thought of the walls being covered in mirrors, and her own joke. (Her sense of humour is a bit dry, ne?)

"As far as outcasts go... you may be right, but maybe it's time for the Pack structure to end? It didn't serve you well here at Avalon, maybe we can convince the Packs to abandon the old ways, and seek something new. I'm not sure on the details yet... or if they will even take time to listen. Change is difficult, after all."

He gingerly puts his arms around her and holds her close, not knowing any words that could ease her pain, but hoping that his presence would provide at least some comfort...

Not going [BOOM] is pretty much my favourite thing :D

Vai knew it was stupid to grab Fei like that (especially given the last time she grabbed him without warning they both almost died), and she was thankful once again that he was protecting her. His strong, sure arms were her world... and she didn't feel scared by them. Didn't feel claustrophobic. She felt safe. Protected.

The tears eventually fade into snuffles, and she's able to speak again. Her voice is hoarse from crying, and still punctuated by the occasional sob. "It's all wro-[hic] wrong. Dad was supp-posed to ruffle my h-hair and tell me h-how proud he was of m-me." her cheek was still resting on Fei's chest, and his gi was a little damp from the fallen tears.

Vai has obviously created her own idealized version of Tamrin, one that was perhaps just shattered. Nothing like realizing your heroes are people too.

Eventually she releases the hug, though slowly, as if she wished it could never end. But she knew that even Fei's concentration had it's limits. She looks up into his eyes, her own still a little glassy. "Thank you, Fei. For everything. I..." it was late now. She didn't want to bother her parents... Mom had looked like she was about to break, "I don't want to be alone tonight. Nasima's still not back, and my room is so lonely without her. Can I stay with you?" Vai realizes that probably won't work, but still... "I'll even sleep on the floor, so you won't have to worry. I just don't want to go back to an empty room."

Just to be clear, Vai isn't "propositioning" Fei, as it were. She just wants comfort, not the other thing. Just heading that off before Doc Zeppler gets in here. :P

"Tyrrin speaks the truth. You have much to offer anyone lucky enough to call you friend. From what I have seen in the last two days, you are a beautiful, kind, considerate, respectful, and thoughtful person. If you have an emotional side that is sometimes hard to control, this simply means that you are a living creature. Anyone not willing to give you a little understanding is not worthy of your friendship."

Wyrd glances around as if he is a but embarrassed over having interjected in a private conversation.

"I am sorry if I intruded in your privacy. I am not very good at the boundary thing."

With a short bow, Wyrd steps back to the corner he had been standing in earlier.

SIMROOM 1:

The mast swarm moves around the space

Tybalt -> is slamming caves closes as fast as he can

David and psi-c -> are thinning the ranks of the massed bats slowly but steadily but a swam this large will take time.

Time that Renkai give fighting close to the flag, he fells three of the great bats on the ground.

Then three great bats make there dive at the flag

Tybalt -> takes out the center one before heading to the water for one massive attack.

David -> still cutting a swave throw the bats (you can now see gaps in the swarm of bats such is his work. Blast the last one out of the air.

The 1st now arrow fast shoots at the flag poll to be meet by Renkai who leaping off just as it comes in cuts it.

But whats this some thing with the bat, some thing small and fast, to close to act now, to close to stop, a small Goblin, with nothing more than a knife in his hand flys pass at stupid speed, a kind of rocket on his back, Dave and Tybalt both see as its giggles manicly flying into the Flag, ripping it from the pole. But just has it gets to it Renkai now falling from the killed bat, moves his leg and kicks the Goblin just a fraction, just a tap, but it changes the trajectory of the little green rocket to miss the flag my inches, he can see the fustration on the goblins face as it fly's past and the look change to shock as it now heads for the ground below.

Then Tybalt ice wave hits, and it starts training frozen bats.

Rosa comes in as the Ice bats ping off her, and walks over to the flag pole, she looks up at the battered but still in place flag.

Next to her embedded in the ground is a Goblin frozen in a block if ice.

She looks at the three.

"22 minuets and 41 seconds, not bad, not bad at all, You know I was told not to give classes in the dead of night, some thing about students needing sleep, well not you David you are like me, Mecka, but still you others, you did well, very well."

She claps.

"But to the point of this lesson, this class is all about team work, when you sign on to the school, you can feel its all about you, your alone and here to get what you want, but we teach more than that here, we teach soft skills as well, thinks like working in a team when needed. Just like now, you all used the powers you had to work as a team, hidden in this little game is thing like our goblin here, to get the time to spot them you have to work as a time, if you had all gone off and worked on your own you would have not lasted as long. So well done, Class is over, next time when you do the CAVE and Flag some you will face other things. Last of all please keep this class to yourselves, others will be doing it today and they need to do it like yourselves, not for warned. That is also part of the class. Well gents I will let you get back to sleep, David you have other things to do. See you again soon."

With that she gos out the SIM, its still training frozen bats.

Teleporting into the middle of an EM storm while riding inside a giant robot suit was not Jeran's idea of a good time. And he might be a hot-shot pilot in other cicumstances, but Mithros was really struggling to steer in this. It took a lot more physical strength rather than finesse. He gave the other mecha a shove to get him at least moving in the right direction.

"Come on," he growled. "Remember, they're all counting on us."

The two young test pilots eventually managed to get free and engaged cloaking systems, at which point they began the long, slow process of sneaking up on the warship.

90% chance they can close without any anomalies detected by the warship: 1d100 ⇒ 8, 1d100 ⇒ 34

Jeran swore as he realized that the EM storm had knocked out his cloaking systems. He used an energy burst to shove a small asteroid towards the ship, ducking behind a larger asteroid while he engaged the autorepair and praying that they would attribute the blip on their readings to the asteroid.

60% chance of success. 1d100 ⇒ 95

There was no sign of movement from the ship by the time his systems were back online, so he had to assume that he'd been able to avoid detection by some miracle.

"Magic, how they uses magic, I want to know more about magic if I can, its not something I have any experiences of."

he looks back at the head master he smile gone as a look of determination replaces it.

"It looks a lot bigger in person than it did on the schematics," Mithros whispered.

"We just need to find the right spot. I'll look. Start taking out the escape pods."

Jeran pulled out his energy blade and started cutting into the hull in the spot he was told would be a straight shot to the core. He swore as he heard alarms start going off inside the ship.
"Speed it up! We're going to have company any minute now!"

"Casil, something is happening." Tyrrin jumped up, running over to the main console, her fingers flying over the keys on the screen-in-screen. The warship came back into focus on the big screen. Several explosions were already tearing through the ship. "What are they doing? Move." It was a order, expected to be obeyed by Ace. Tyrrin casts a Quickened Haste on herself as she throws herself into the seat. Her fingers fly across the keys at superhuman speed, pulling up the warship schematics and cross-checking them with the interceptor's attack pattern. It was truly amazing to watch as she sorts through the information at lightning speed, before casting another quickened spell, this time Sending. ::Jiminy. I don't know if your pilots have the proper or up-to-date schematics, but that's a Faerie-class ship, one of the newer designs. Uploading updated schematics to your system, get them to your pilots right away.::

Oh, sure, NOW you guys got mecha. I know how to fly spacecraft, btw. In case you need more pilots.

You are first on my list, man. ....presuming we can convince the rest of my family that you're not going to betray us....

::Copy that, and by the way we're gonna have to have a chat about how you know the schematics of these things...the why aren't you already on this team kind of chat,:: he joked, except by now she knew him well enough to know that he was taking things very seriously.

::Fido, I've got a cleaner shot lined up for you, but it's more risky. Tell Sunbeam to haul ass out of there before you take the shot. Sending you coordinates now.::

"I really, really hate that code name," he growled. "Mithros, cover me while I line up the shot and then get out of here! We'll only have seconds once I fire."

Jeran switched out the energy cannon he'd been aiming for a grenade launcher and loaded in a singularity grenade, lining up the shot at just the angle to hit the new target Jiminy had sent.

Percent chance Mithros can keep any opposition busy long enough for Jeran to do all that unimpeded: 70% 1d100 ⇒ 86

Mithros dodged and weaved and took pot shots and just basically did what he was good at: trick flying. It wasn't a good long-term strategy. His suit was already badly damaged in several places. But it did the trick.

"Mithros, go!" Jeran yelled, just before he pulled the trigger.

There was a couple seconds of calm and then a Whuuump sound as the grenade hit the starcaster and the ship tried to fold in on itself and explode at the same time.

Percent chance Mithros gets away clean: 95%1d100 ⇒ 73
Percent chance Jeran gets away clean: 85%1d100 ⇒ 27

Mithros was able to teleport away in plenty of time, but Jeran has more difficulty. His suit took a pretty heavy beating before he was able to port away. Neither of their mechas was in the best condition when they landed back at the hangar.

Insomniac, obsessive elf with an overdeveloped sense of responsibility and access to an inter dimensional library which contains all the information of their enemies? You aren't the only one who's been hard at work, Jiminy. I'm off to bes though. Night :)

::Good work, guys. Tyrrin thanks for the help. Now I have another job to take care of. Let me know if you spot any other surprises.::

::Mom, Dad, progress report. Target is down. Fido and Sunbeam are back at base safe and sound. Field test was mostly a success. Some upgrades needed. Especially in pilot training. Heading to the comm relay now.::

Rosa has a bad day:

Rosa is looking at a number of images off the attack on the starship.

::"What are they doing?"::

::"Well from what I can tell, and im not peeking 1st hand here so this is a guess, they uses a space rock to take out its coms, so its not going to be calling for help any time soon, and a two Mecha-Orga units have gone in close to make it look like an antecedent, one seems to be stopping escape by the crew wile the other seems to be seeking to destabilize the power core. Near suicide if you ask me, but if the can do both at the same time not going to me much left but base elements of that ship, and it will look like a power-core fail."::

::"Death count?"::

::"Looking at the size and tech level of the ship some 600+ and maybe the two in the mechas"::

Rosa is still for a wile, Death had this affect on her, 'for the greater good meant very little when real lives meet real ends.

::"You all right?"::
The sim mind asked.

::"Yes I'm fine, just unhappy is all. Just hate it when a better way can't be found."::

::"We would not be who we are if we did not feel this way, you knew you would have to face this at some point, you have seen the projections if things stay as they are."::

Rosa just nods and keeps looking to see two lives less will be lost.

it ends with a lump of slag, and one mecha just getting away from the imploding gravity well.

she its back as the feed gos off.

::"As I said near suicide, but its done, by the looks of it no signal out and nothing got away"::

::"You 100% on that?"::

::"No as I said second hand feed so, we know what they know. Some thing could have got out if so we will all know soon."::

Rosa got up and called in 3 more students for the Bat-Cave.

::"Let me know if something comes looking for the ship, soon as the wards trip"::

She headed out the room to the SIM.
