The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Okay, this makes me feel better about the whole idea. Definitely not stepping on any toes and sounds really cool actually.

Hmm.

Is there any information on the other close (or relatively close) towns besides kuros?

Close in this case means reachable by train unless you can fly. Kuros is not entirely isolated, but not super near other towns. There was that one town that the original game started in which was a little bit but not too much to the south I think. If you go quite a ways south you get to a bunch of abandoned villages and the temple where Aananda grew up. But not what anyone would call near. There was some sort of university town whose name always escapes me. Also not super close. Basically the towns that are going to be within a day or so's travel from Kuros are going to be the sort of small, sleepy towns that Kuros used to be. Bigger cities are further away. And the rail system connects just about everything, so travel is not that difficult.

While we're on the topic of Kuros, I was wondering: How is it governed? Like, if one wanted to purchase a building, who would they see?

Anyhoo...

Dunno if ya'll remember the "Mesmer" convo we had several pages back, but I've started a thread here with my work up to this point, asking for advice.

Only one that I can think of that matches that description is Johnny Panic (I miss Spug, although I never met him), but you're not talking about him/her, are you?
i liked him, and I miss him, even if I sometimes had to puzzle out his posts, but other than myself and magic (tybalt) I believe that opinion is unique.

He did not leave on good terms. The terms he left on were of his own making. I do not believe he would have been happy in any game he wasn't running.

He could be quite charming when he wanted to be. The flip side of that was not particularly pretty.

Since those are the nicest things I have to say I will leave it there. In general I do prefer not to discuss drama past, so let's just let it be.

Well, pre-disaster, there was a mayor and a town council. If you wanted to purchase a building you dealt with the current owner. If you wanted to put up a new building you applied at the town hall.

At the moment, their city government is not in great shape. But once they get through all the awfulness, there will once again be a mayor and a town council. And any vacant buildings whose owners don't have any obvious heirs left will be put up for auction.

These are also my thoughts.

I liked him most of the time, but he did quite a bit that didn't work and then in the end kinda ruined any good image he had.

I have to admit, I did like the guy until he would not bend on certain things, and became obstinate.
I guess I'm more angry/upset at the loss of potential.

Hulk-
The largest of the mechanical creations that follows the boy around is designated as 'Hulk', His intricate clockwork and steam driven pistons enable the creation to lift and maneuver all but the heaviest of girders and metal plating. The huge hands of the creation enable it to bend steel into new shapes with relative ease, 'Hulk' has no face and is only humanoid in the fact that it has arms and legs, its head and chest have been kept into a single piece of anatomy

Tripod-
The smallest of the clockwork automatons is tripod, a dog sized, three legged spindle shaped creation. Created with the purpose of fitting into small spaces and re-calibrating the clockworks and engines where Romulus or 'Dexter' cannot fit. Tripod moves in a disconcerting spinning fashion, rotating while balancing on one of its legs. The creation is remarkably fast and agile, and can use the tiny manipulators mounted to the 'fronts' of its body to do very delicate work.

Dexter-
The most humanoid of the robotic creation is 'Dexter' a man shaped and sized automaton with correct proportions. What makes Dexter the most disturbing of robots is his head. The robot walks and operates like a human but its head is nothing but a crystalline dome with intricate clockworks inside of it. Dexter has neither the strength of Hulk, or the dexterity of Tripod, but is a very capable creation nonetheless. He can move things that are too large for tripod, but to delicate for Hulk. He is also capable of self repair, something the other three are incapable of....

Huh missed that, the class only gives three little flying droids
You going to hand out the droids to other players so you can get a mesh of personalities like I did with the Arthur/Hermes pair? Or you just want them a direct extension of your character's will.

Ioun Angel was very interesting. I hadn't remembered it when the idea firmed in my head.

Not heard of that before. Will need to check it out.

There's a bunch of Ioun magic in Deep Magic, including an Iounmancer Wizard archetype.

I have an ability with them, they use my modifiers and skills for repair and craft checks

The keeper of Death rolls the silver cube, a ruby embedded in one face, a pair of amethysts in another, three emeralds, four sapphires, a face holds five topaz and the last side houses six diamonds...

the cube rolls, falling and tumbling, until it comes to a rest, standing on a corner....

"Sometimes, even chance cannot predict the result."

Wouldn't it make more sense to have the more expensive gem stones occupy the lower numbered faces? So you don't have to buy six diamonds, as a opposed to 6 amethysts?

whats the layout of the school right now? specifically the office for the schedules and the infirmary?

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

The school tends to shape itself more or less to the desires of those within. Especially when there is a strong need to get somewhere.

Today has been less than awesome. Insomnia really bad last night. Finally managed to get to sleep at 4. At 5 kidlet had nightmare. Yeah. Managed to nap a little bit this morning, but not running on much sleep. And kidlet has a fever and is crazy clingy. Sigh.

Lyn If I won the lottery, I would come by your place, send you and your hubby on vacation for a few days, and I would volunteer to take care of the kidlet for ya.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

That's a sweet thought, Ed. :)

Kidlet is going through a growth spurt/has teeth coming in/is experiencing the wild mood swings that herald the very beginnings of puberty and it's been an interesting week. His dad travels for work so I'm all on my own with him, as usual. And he's overall a good kid, don't get me wrong. It's just that summer vacation is hard because there's no real down time away from the kidlet. Which is okay except when he's being extra high-maintenance. (No, there is not a monster standing right behind you, yes, if you continue to whine I will restrict you to your room for your own safety, no, I cannot in fact move if you are clinging to me like a leech, yes, you do have to let go if you want to go to the pool later........yeah, this really is a sample conversation...from this morning.)

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Anyways, sorry for the lack of posting yesterday. The not sleeping thing was kind of problematic. Today is better.

No respect for my dead girlfriend, I swear :P

Edit: Lyn, semi important PM, about Ginni.

ok on another note...
way back some 30+ years ago, I took a creative writing class in High School. for our final project we had to write either a short story, a journalism type piece, or some other creative project (play, film, music, etc)

I chose film and made a comedy spoof of the then top film, "Raiders of the lost Ark"

well I just found the old VHS tape of that film. and sent it out today to get transferred to digital.

if it works I would like this group to be the first to see the new digital version of my not so well done, super cheap, no CGI, super cheesy special effects film.

and yes it is in B&W, we could not afford color video cameras back then. also this is before we had internet. (cable TV was a luxury item)

Female [Classified] Bard 16 / [classified] 16

Ace sent ya a PM in case you did not get to it yet.

Just remember, there's always a plan B.

(Though it is beginning to look like I need to get back to the Infirmary to 'diffuse' this....hmmm.)

If 666 miles of the material plane becomes abbadon.... doesn't that mean that he can theoretically send a large chunk of the planet to abbadon...?

BOOOOOOOOM!

*Avalon is now in Abbadon*

Students cheerfully go and wipe out every demon there....

not to mention Ryleh, Sheess, MS JONES!, or Genosuke, also the Headmaster....

Yeah... sending everyone to Abbadon would be a terrible plan

School of Elanish Thought: "It's just there for dramatic tension. Don't worry about it."

Anyways, the problem will probably be solved by the Champions killing the Seed in the other reality (hence stopping the resonance, though Iolth would be put in a coma if that happens) (and, yes, it's a Horseman/Seed of Destruction combo out there). So, even if things do get that dire (which I will make sure they won't), there's a deus ex machina in the works to save your sorry asses.
