Seeker's 5e Reign of Winter (Inactive)

Game Master seekerofshadowlight

It has been a century since the immortal witch Baba Yaga last visited the world, and the hour draws nigh for her return. But when she fails to appear in the frozen realm of Irrisen to usher in its newest ruler, pockets of winter begin to grow throughout the Inner Sea region. After 1,400 years of perpetual winter, the icy curse of Irrisen is spreading! What links do these strange blizzards and swaths of wintry landscapes have with Irrisen, and is there any truth to the growing rumors that the Witch Queen Elvanna has taken full control of the realm? Can her plans for the Inner Sea be thwarted, or will the Reign of Winter engulf the world?

I'm going to make appraise checks. I'm assuming they're intelligence checks - arguably, investigation. But either way...

Intelligence: appraise gold ingot: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Intelligence: appraise silver ring: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Intelligence: appraise (x3) tiger's eye gemstones: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Intelligence: appraise elven riding boots: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Except for the boots, those are some really bad rolls. Someone please do better than me.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

The ingot, you think 40-60 gp maybe, the ring and the gems, not much 3or 3 gp each maybe. The books are fine workmanship, you would guess 15 g all day long on those.

AC:15 HP: 18/19 HD: 2/2

Sell 'em all in town to see what we can get? Maybe after word of our heroics, they'll give us a nice price. ;-)

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

I left a spot hanging so Vic could get some words in for the group. If you guys want to do anything else before I move us forward, this is a good time.

Okay, so assuming the following prices:

• gold ingot 50gp
• ring 3gp
• gemstones 9gp
• boots 15gp
• various coins 16.85gp

That's a total of 93.85gp.

Divided by 6 players that's 15.64gp each.

Vic is keeping the silver dagger. My character is keeping the scrolls. And whoever has the highest Perception should keep the spyglass.

There was also a potion. What did we identify it as, GM?

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Sorry guys, had some issues. My house kinda caught on fire, luckily it was just the furnace. I mean to explain this last week, but My connection either dropped or I simply forgot o hit send, it was a busy few days.

I'll update in a bit.

Also that sounds fine on the loot split.

Is the 150gp from the Council being paid in advance, or upon completion?

Thanks for the reminder, Arannis.

The 500gp is definitely for upon returning quest completed. My question is whether or not the 80gp and 150gp are for each player, or to be split among the group?

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

The one 150 GP is also upon return. The gold, both 80 and 150 is to the group.

Now the holiday crazy is over, I should be back to normal updating. Go ahead and do your shopping here and I'll ove us forward in the morning. Also, nice post in the IC thread wicked.

Thanks.

For the sake of simplicity I think it's best if we split the 80gp among the players. So that'll be 13.33gp each.

Thanks for the math, Tursk.

I'll probably buy a healer's kit. Don't have my book to check the price, so I'll update when I get home.

I will buy 1 potion of healing for 50 GP.

That's indeed quite a stretch. I mean, I can see the conclusion that she's probably not a normal human, being out in the cold and all. But to go from "might be a fey or supernatural" all the way to "definitely wants to kill us and I'm so certain of it that I'd better strike first" makes Jack (in-character) either ridiculously stupid, borderline evil, or both.

Maybe that's what Jack's player was going for...?

The house seems creepy, and she seems like she is living alone. A seven year old isn't smart enough to live by themselves. A seven year old would never make it on a deserted island, and neither would she in this situation.

As far as being evil? Remember the time when a few of us died and we were given the option to keep our character or make a new one? I'm not saying Jack became evil, but I did feel like it is something he would have done and he may have become death obsessive, as I'm the only player that knew what really happened to Jack.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Yeah, that came off as very meta gamy. You should know, I have altered things here and there. Wicked is correct in that would have called for an insight, but if ya want to go down the mindlessly evil rout, shooting children will do it.

Why would you think this kid is living alone? Maybe her parent is in the house, or out hunting and is stranded in the snow and needs help? You've got to be a little more careful than that, unless you are trying to be evil. And if that's the case, you may find yourself out a few traveling companions.

Yeah, Jack, not the best of actions without first consulting the predominantly good-aligned party. However, Vic would likely not be the one to point that out to you due to his Neutral alignment.

I always tend to think what is worse though. Having an evil enemy ambush us for a surprise round with an army of undead summoned, or accidently killing an innocent? Anyway, I'm going to be careful not to let him become evil.

Hey all, I'm having some real life issues right now. I'll try to keep up, but my posting will probably be spotty for a bit. Sorry for any delays that I might cause.

Its fine, as you have noticed I have been super spotty. Sigh, I thought my RL issues where over.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

I did warn you that I would change things. The doll,as you may have noticed, is not the threat.

Indeed - never read or played it, so I was not sure one way, or the other.

I don't know what is or is not threats. I'm expecting creepy stuff however from this house. I'm expecting the doll to be like chucky. The chairs and tables to attack on their own, like in mario 64 boos haunt. And I'm expecting ghosts to be in this house. The character is trying to get a jump on everything he thinks might be a threat, the chair, the doll. Heck, he will put out the fire in the fireplace if there was one. I'm also expecting to see bats in the attic.

Anyway, now that I'm less buys in real life, you might see a jumpy character more often. He is going for assassin, so he will do that assassinate things. I'll just try not to hit innocent people by accident.

Wisdom (medicine) DC 10 will stabilize. Afterward we wait 1d4 hours to gain an HP. Sucks, but not too bad since we're out in the wilderness and not a dungeon.

Go ahead and roll saves, you might get a 20. If you roll 2 fails, we will count you as bandaged by someone.

I made my save, I went down to 2 hp.
okay, I'll roll a heal check.
