Seeker's 5e Reign of Winter (Inactive)

Game Master seekerofshadowlight

It has been a century since the immortal witch Baba Yaga last visited the world, and the hour draws nigh for her return. But when she fails to appear in the frozen realm of Irrisen to usher in its newest ruler, pockets of winter begin to grow throughout the Inner Sea region. After 1,400 years of perpetual winter, the icy curse of Irrisen is spreading! What links do these strange blizzards and swaths of wintry landscapes have with Irrisen, and is there any truth to the growing rumors that the Witch Queen Elvanna has taken full control of the realm? Can her plans for the Inner Sea be thwarted, or will the Reign of Winter engulf the world?

Excellent we have just lost one. Sorry for the late update, I did not think I would be gone all day, but sometimes( ok often) my plans do not always give me a heads up before they get shot to hell :)

I'll have an update up in a little bit.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok, this will slow us down a bit, But I want to clear this up.

1: You can be roped together, however, this will limit mobility and impact things like the ability to make dex checks, and one fall could drop everyone.

2: You can only dodge if you can see the attacker. You can not see at all due to the fog. So dodging is a wasted action.

Magic:

Those both sound fair to me. Personally, I like the idea of the rope because if one person falls the others should be able to lift them up with a strength (athletics) check.

I would imagine our primary concern is to get to the other side. After that, then we can unleash hell.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

OK, if folks are fine with this, we are moving along.

Male Wood Elf Rogue 4 (Swashbuckler); AC: 16, Unarmored: 14; HP: 21/29; Saves: Advantage vs. Charm, Dex and Int; Init: +4; Perc: +4 (Passive 14), HD 4

Okey dokey...

AC:15 HP: 18/19 HD: 2/2

Yep, works for me. Let's just try to get to the other side as quickly as possible.

Male Reflection Dwarf Ruffian Rogue 3: Speed:20, AC:20, 40/40 HP, 7 Fort, 11 Reflex, 8 Will, 8 Perception, 11 Stealth, Darkvision

yeah, catching up now, Paizo was done the one time I was able to access it yesterday.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

I am gonna say this now. 5e CR's are more busted than 3.x CR's. This point forward I will not be using or trusting that CR system. There is no way this thing counts as 1/2 CR.

Male Reflection Dwarf Ruffian Rogue 3: Speed:20, AC:20, 40/40 HP, 7 Fort, 11 Reflex, 8 Will, 8 Perception, 11 Stealth, Darkvision

um, I have the players handbook and it is actually page 197.

Death Saving Throws.

Rolling a 1 or a 20. When you make a death saving throw and roll a 1 on the d20, it counts as two failures. If you roll a 20 on the d20, you regain 1 hit point.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

You are correct. I simply read the first half and could have sworn the "20" roll was just the opposite of the "1" roll.

Male Reflection Dwarf Ruffian Rogue 3: Speed:20, AC:20, 40/40 HP, 7 Fort, 11 Reflex, 8 Will, 8 Perception, 11 Stealth, Darkvision

so is this thing attacking us after readied actions in round 2 go off?

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Yes, you can attack before the attack is resolved. Sorry if I was not clear there.

Male Reflection Dwarf Ruffian Rogue 3: Speed:20, AC:20, 40/40 HP, 7 Fort, 11 Reflex, 8 Will, 8 Perception, 11 Stealth, Darkvision

okay everyone, make sure we kill it quickly. If we all do enough damage to it, we will kill it before it would have gotten it breath weapon off.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Oh, you guys killed it all right. But you guys look pretty hurt from the encounter.

To be fair, the opening of Reign of Winter is notoriously a bit of a meat grinder. So don't feel too bad about it.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

So it seems. I am having to replace and make due and I am finding I need to really look over the stats as the CR system IMO is way, way off.

Male Wood Elf Rogue 4 (Swashbuckler); AC: 16, Unarmored: 14; HP: 21/29; Saves: Advantage vs. Charm, Dex and Int; Init: +4; Perc: +4 (Passive 14), HD 4

Yep...It is almost like you need to recreate each in encounter with the same, or similar, enemies under the 5E method. I ran into the same issue with my tabletop game. There is actually an excellent encounter generating system out there online for 5E. It is called Kobold Fight Club.

Magic:

GM, don't forget that you can use our passive perception checks to save time, too.

Once we level up, things will be a little less deadly.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

See, I was trying just to swap out with something of the same CR, that encounter by the book called for two critters and I just used one. I am now reworking my fast swaps as it looks like a total rebuild is the way to go.

I'll move us along sometime sat night. I got in late and have to be up early and rushing posts has not always worked out for me :)

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok, some heads up and explanation. My updates have been unreliable of late. That is because some things have changed IRL over the last few weeks and I have had my free time ripped away. So, my updating may be a bit hit and miss for a few weeks more as I adjust, weekend updates may not happen. I am aiming for at lest four a week and hopefully more than that, but I just wanted to let ya guys know the oddness was me "adapting" to a massive switch in my Schedule.

Male Wood Elf Rogue 4 (Swashbuckler); AC: 16, Unarmored: 14; HP: 21/29; Saves: Advantage vs. Charm, Dex and Int; Init: +4; Perc: +4 (Passive 14), HD 4

No problem, we will advance the game as best we can until you can update.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Thanks for understanding.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Ok, here is how the posting is gonna work out. I am gonna be able to post Monday- Friday, but Monday and Wednesday will likely always be late EST, Like 10-12 pm late. The weekends at this time are gonna be hit or miss, do not count on them but I may have time to update now and then on a weekend.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Hey guys, I just got home from the hospital and my grandmother seems to have suffered a stroke. I'll try to update in the morning but I may be busy the next couple of days.

Hey guys. My grandmother did have a mild stroke( whatever that means) and was hospitalized for a few days. She came home last night and seems to be doing well. I will not be home until this evening, but I'll update us and get us moving tonight.

Thanks for the well wishes.

I'm okay with it, I'm in plenty of games, one slow game or two won't bother me.

Also family is more important than a game. =)

Really busy few days guys sorry I have not updated, we had a car accident and been dealing with all that fun. I'll update in a few hours.

Yikes, hope you're okay.

male Human 8th level seeker/6th level gamer /4th level bad speller

Air bag and seat belt bruises and such, my wife has a sprung wrist and some airbag burns. We are unsure if they will total the car, but it seems likely, airbags, replacement fender, hood, lights bumper, front, airbags, steering wheel, the doghouse under the hood, repaint and such. I used to help a guy a bit on rebuilding cars, they total out pretty easy.

I really need to get better at giving you guys a heads up when life gets in they way.

Sheesh, hope you and the wife are quick to mend Seeker!

Warlock 2 (Winter); AC 13; HP 13/17

Yes, hope everyone is ok!

On a different note, I will be traveling next week, so feel free to bot Kat if needed.
