Apologies, all; I haven’t seen a “NEW” tag for this campaign in my feed for quite some time, so I’d just never bothered to check. Can’t trust it, I guess. Ought to manually check from now on…
Huh. That’s a loud crack, Alton thought.
The inside of his ears were ringing a low, dull tone, and he could swear that the hairs in his inner ear were bristling in the wind. Someone’s going to catch hell, these people are awfully angry. Alton looked over his shoulder. … oh, at these people? Hey…
Alton recognizes a girl in clothes far too large for her small frame. I think I’ve seen her before, in a trivid… He looks down at his chest, and sees a similar outfit. Then he sees a seared hole smack dab in the middle of his coveralls and shirt, which revealed his own skin. A small patch of chest hair curiously missing.
Was I… shot? his short term memory washes over him in a flood. Shock… I’m in shock. Get a grip. What’s going on? The clouds below his head dissipate, and Alton snaps back to reality. He sees who he remembers as his friends ahead, exchanging gunfire. Minecart tracks? Realizing he’s standing on a rail, he feels a slight vibration in the track, and looks to get out of the way.
Move action: Move 15 ft out of the way of the oncoming cart

@GM Yeah, it might have been the device I was using, not your sharing settings. Here's my Round 2:
Id glances down to see that he's standing right on the track, so he looses a parting shot at his same target then hustles back next to Alton to get out of the cart's way. Incoming!
Standard to shoot, move to indicated square. 16 charges remaining on the pistol battery.
Attack (azimuth laser pistol vs. red): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Damage (fire): 1d4 ⇒ 4
Alton Loucks |
Figured out the cause of not receiving updates - I had the Gameplay tab open in a tab in my phone's browser, a tab that I believe refreshes every time I'd open a new link. Needless to say, going forward, I'll be making sure I close all Paizo forum tabs once I'm done with them.
6ix |
But I'm stealthy... :(
6ix decides to do that one the favor of shooting back, while scrambling for cover a bit further back. He's not meant to be in front! Trick Shot (Red): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23 15+CR for flat-footed.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 vs. FF EAC
Damage: 1d4 + 1d4 ⇒ (1) + (3) = 4

Is there somehow a switch I can operate to divert that mining cart?

Seriously, Shifty, I strongly suspect you of being a robot. You never ever seem to be asleep
Hey! C'mon! Get'em guy, show 'em who's the best! 화이팅!
The moment I blink
you check them out again
Acting like you didn’t hear.
Where are you looking?
I’m right here
Can't you be a little bit nicer to me?
You bark at me, it hurts so much
I can't stand it, makes me upset
All, all, all of it is making me upset
It's your own fault
my heart now wears an armor
And I am fighitng back
Your shoot your arrow
It will not hit me
It's only trouble, trouble
You aim at me
You shoot, shoot, shoot
You won't find me
You're no good, good, good
Zoey's singing and cheering encourages the party to fight stronger.
Get'em, using a resolve point to give everyone a +1 at all enemies within 60 feet.

Not sure what the orange "A" token is...
Alton will fire at the orange miner, then retreat back to the tunnels with the rest of the crew.
Attack, ranged: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Damage, fire: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Shifty |
Alton, you might change targets?
The closest miner gets tagged...
Two of the miners return fire at Altharikon!
Attack 1d20 ⇒ 14
Damage 1d6 ⇒ 2
Attack 1d20 ⇒ 6
Damage 1d6 ⇒ 5
Attack 1d20 ⇒ 2
Damage 1d6 ⇒ 4
Altharikon is hit once...
The badly injured miner then slowly sits down, the gun slips from his hand and he collapses the rest of the way onto the ground.
The cart continues along and POP up jumps Talbot
Attacks Altharikon!
Trick attack (Stealth) 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 13 + 2 = 25
Attack 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25

Ah. I swore I saw Alth's old portrait on the map as well as the generic "A", but I can't check the revision history on my phone. S'all good.
As for changing target, I have to say, I'm confused. I should've had LoS past the corner on one of the miners (thought it was the orange one, perhaps it was the red?). I'll leave it your hands; whatever enemy makes most sense, have Alton target that one (with a +4 soft cover bonus to their AC for firing past Altharikon), then move him to the rear position.
EDIT: (Pic, for reference) Ok, I wasn't hallucinating; there were two Alth's on screen, haha. The two lines painting the corners of the orange miner were to demonstrate LoS past the rocky outcropping, so he should be a valid target. But again, I leave it in your hands, Shifty.
Id-Sinitis |
Id's antennae perk up as Talbot springs from the mine cart, but he gets flustered as he sees the fugitive rolling down the track toward him. I'll never pull off a full casting if he hits me en route, he thinks, so he rushes back and fires off a simpler version of the spell. Forget the miners, there's our target!
Standard to cast magic missile at Talbot, move to indicated square.
Magic Missile Damage vs. Talbot: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5
Zoey Strawberry |
There he is!
Zoey makes good use of the blaster she has in hand...
Pulsecast, Talbot: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 41d4 ⇒ 2

Standard: shoot, Move: Get'IM! -> Everyone gets a +1 on Talbot
6ix |
6ix tries his best to hit their target (Talbot), firing somewhat wildly with his laser pistol.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Attack 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
His first shot goes a little wide, but the second pegs their target squarely in the chest.
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
Critical Burn: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Don't forget your +1, six! (Not that it would make a difference here, though)

Not expecting anyone to pop out of the cart, Althar is completely taken aback when Talbot attacks him. Darting toward his party, he spins and evokes to missiles of arcana at the speeding Talbot.
Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 4) + 2 = 10 Woot! Now hopefully, Alth. isn't cut down as he moves away.
Can't edit map. Moving ten east toward 6ix
Alton Loucks |
Alton blasts away at the moving cart.
Full Round:
Ranged Attack 1, laser pistol: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 2 - 4 = 12
Damage, fire: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Ranged Attack 2, laser pistol: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 2 - 4 = 15
Damage, fire: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Here's hoping 15's good enough.
Shifty |
Altharikon spams Talbot with missiles, and Alton tags him with a second shot.
The miners scream in anger and rush Altharikon, looking to bludgeon him with their powertools!
Attack 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Attack 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Altharikon is knocked out by the barrage of attacks.
Talbot screeches a lot in the cart and goes to act, but he is overcome by the flames.
***
The cart careens along, the screams having stopped. Both sides have the opportunity to pick up their wounded and with Talbot now a charred corpse, the miners seem simply despondent at the 'Saviour of Tasch' having been slain.
Going through talbots makeshift office you find a few items of interest and recover the 'Stone you came for.

I have a medkit, but no skills. Anyone able to help?
Altharikon |
Altharikon sees Talbot fall, sees the miners attack him, then sees nothing more as darkness rushes in from the periphery and almost instantaneously coalesces into a black void......
Falling.....falling......falling.....blackness....darkness....black...hole. ...nothingness.....
Altharikon falls and knows nothingness. Dimly aware of voices around him, he absently wonders if he is dead. Sadness washes over him as he thinks of the grief of his parents. He thinks of his brother and how he would say he told him so. This thought evokes a spark of anger. Suddenly determined to prove his brother wrong, Althar reaches out and cups the floating spark in the his hands. Breathing on the spark he kindles the spark into a tiny, flickering flame......
Spend a Resolve Point to stabilize.
Id-Sinitis |
Id goes over to Altharikon's collapsed body and hoists him up. I'm sorry that your 'savior' turned out to be a crook. I hope we can help Tasch recover its lost revenue in honest ways.
Id begins dragging his comrade back to the surface. If we bring Talbot's body to Philt, maybe he will reconsider working with these people to rebuild their economy...
Alton Loucks |
Alton looks at the fallen ex-Starfinder, and rubs the back of his neck. "Well, I'd say it's a shame, but the feeling just isn't there. Cheat a megacorp like Abadar, sooner or later it was coming to him."
He then regards the entourage of miners that were following Talbot. "This man... he's wasn't what you thought he was. The method he used to convert thasteron to drift fuel? A hoax. A sham. A con. His dirty money was coming from a well that was drying up quick, and it was only going to leave the community in shambles. If you're lucky, we can talk the local suit from AbadarCorp into some sort of deal to help you guys out, but no promises."
Shifty |
The miners are all a bit shellshocked at the revelation, but seem positive (as much as they can be in the circumstances) about your offer.
***
You communicate with Philt and meet at a rendezvous point outside of town, he seems quite pleased to see you - his antennae waggling excitedly - as his usual vesk minders watch guard by their vehicle.
"You have our man?"
Id-Sinitis |
Id nods in response to Alton's report, speaking to Philt in Shirren.
6ix |
6ix tends to disagree with the magnanimous statements being levied by his cohorts, but of course he can't understand Id, so he doesn't vocalize his disagreement. Did we acquire the maguffin?
Shifty |
You have the "McGuffin(tm)"
"Dead is just a barrier, he is not beyond our reach"
"Yes, you raised the thought of helping the town earlier, I am more amenable now they are not the willing accomplices to a crime and harbouring the fugitive. The drive and loyalty the townsfolk demonstrate—however misguided— inspires me. AbadarCorp has long considered the construction of a shipping hub outside of Maro. Such a facility would keep cargo destined for transport throughout the Pact Worlds away from Maro’s local gangs and criminal organizations. Tasch could serve to staff this shipping hub and provide infrastructure for guards, pilots, and corporate employees. Such construction would also mean gainful employment for all the townspeople."
