Greetings Greyhawkers. I am looking to start up a homebrew campaign set in the World of Greyhawk. The first world I learned to play D&D in. I will use pathfinder rules for gameplay and will spend the time between now and when I plan to start the game (December-ish) fleshing out the conversions, getting maps, etc. I am looking for 4-5 characters to do this with the intent for them to stay together as long as possible. Timeline is Spring 582 so factor that into your character concept.
I'm expecting people to post at least every other day. daily is better but life does happen. If something is going to come up in your life and you send out a mass message to us, we can work around you.
STAS: 20 point PFS buy. No stat below 8.
TRAITS: 2 traits, no traits associated with Pathfinder Lodges allowed.
RACES: standard Races of Greyhawk. Dwarf, elf, half elf, half orc, Halfling, gnome, human. Use additional racial abilities to tailor the character to a specific subset (hill, mountain dwarves for example).
CLASSES: no gunslingers, summoners, NON GESTALT.
ALIGNMENT: no NE, CE, CN allowed.
WEALTH: 150 standard.
LANGUAGES: Ancient Baklunish, Common, Draconic, Flan, Dwarvish, Giant, Keolandish, Elvish, Goblin, Old Oeridian, Gnomish, Sylvan, Suloise, Halfling, Undercommon, Orcish.
GREYHAWK RESOURCES: there are more out there as well.

PM me if you have any issues or questions or seeking clarity.
You can do the fleshing out of the character itself after the selection is complete.
Times can be tough. You are out of work or looking for a thrill. You either just arrived in the Greatest City of the World, Greyhawk, Gem of the Flanaess, or lived here your whole life and yearn for greener pastures. Passing through the city streets you either heard about or saw a flier for employment. “Looking for brave souls to undertake dangerous jobs. Good pay. Room and board covered. See wonders of the World. Weak willed need not apply”. Instructions said to appear at the ‘Hostel of the Golden Sphynx’ in the Foreign Quarter of the City.
You make your way there and see the location; a newly renovated two story building with a line of people waiting as well. You wait your turn and finally you are allowed to enter. A quaint man dressed in grey robes bids you enter and leads you to a room. Inside the room is a chair with a small table next to it with a jug and a mug sitting atop. In front of the chair are nine stands each with a clear crystal orbs of some sort resting on pillows. As soon as you entered six of the crystal orbs change in color as if filled with billowing smoke. Three others are silent. The robed man instructs you to sit and drink if need be. Then the questions come at you from him. As you answer the questions the orbs colors go from light to dark to a vibrant as if the orbs are communicating.
”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”
“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”
“Do you value individual freedom and choice?”
“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”
“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”
“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”
“Do you think you work well with others?”
“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”
“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”
“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”
“What can you offer the team?”
“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”
“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”
"Who do you pray to?"
After each answer the orbs change the tone of their colors but you discern the colors are: black-grey; gold-bronze; white-silver; green-brown; blue-white; and red-white.
At the end the robed man escorts you out and thanks you for your time. He says you will be notified tomorrow since the task required is of the essence. You leave with some free bread and meats and exit the hostel as the next candidate enters.
answer the questions as your character would answer and come up with a detailed background set in the WOG. The interview more than the character build will determine the hiring process.

Twigs |

Tossing up ideas. I've never had the chance to play in Greyhawk before (at least a game that made it out of the planning stages) so want something that fits the tone. I'm working on a Jasidian priestess (She always fascinated me since I picked up the game in 3E), or a Robin-of-Locksley esque rogue.
I'd partly written the former before the forums went down yesterday evening. Bah.

ok, got the personality of the character worked out fairly well.
”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”
Zhoren Ironwill s'me name lad. O' the friends I have, most just call me Z, or zhor. Me place O' Origin is this lovely land we live in an' I came by this place same as any O'er place, walkin'.
“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”
"That there a mite personal don't ye think? Ifn' I had to say, I'd wager what keeps me up on rare occasion is the thought O' what if I been making the wrong choices? If I make the wrong choice one O these days and cause a horrible event. If I wake one day to find all I ever beleived or lived fer be wrong. That Lad be what keeps me up, more than any O the evils or monsters O this land.
“Do you value individual freedom and choice?”
Aye, indeed I do. One O the reasons I never saw eye ta eye with me elders, asked to many questions they said, stop shirkin' ye duties an' whatnot. bah!
“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”
The tongue I be speakin' in O'course. Other than that? I speak me kin's tongue. And the Tongue O' orcs.
“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”
HA! Now that ther' be a goodin'. In a decade I see meself in the same old spot as now. Wanderin' bout helping goodly folk smashin' orc, troll, or worse around with me trusty friend ere' he pats his weapon.
“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”
He spits, Ye askin' if I'd work with those that took me brother and dear friend from me? hmph, aye, Ifn' they prove to me they can be trusted. I won't judge em' by the actions O' others, I'll judge em by their own.
“Do you think you work well with others?”
Ye kindin'? Not a single lad or lass there is can say they don't love me. O'course I do, teamworks in me blood after all
“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”
Aye, always time to be helpin' those what need it. Mind that don't mean I won't be finishing whatever it is the mission is, I'll be a bearded gnome fer I leave somethin' I started unfinished.
“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”
The right reasons lad, the good reasons.
“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”
Now that depends, Ifn' its minor things, Aye, I can follow, but Ifn' somebody's bout to lose their life over injustice? Now that I jus' can't be abidin'.
“What can you offer the team?”
A strong arm, a hard body, an even harder head, an' a stubborn bastard HAHA!
“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”
I be sufferin' everyday lad, ain't nothing I been through ever stopped me, an I don't plan on stoppin' fer much else. Last time I stopped many years ago... well, I've regretted everyday since, ain't nothin' this world thrown at me worse than that regret.
“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?” Companions O'course, why? well any idiot knows good companions are hard to come by, besides, after savin' the sorry lot O' them we can get on with finishin' the mission anyway.
"Who do you pray to?"
Any what will listen

Dragoncat |

Alright, I'll answer the interview questions while I wait for a reply from our GM.
”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”
"Me? Name's Victrix. Victrix Bloodmane. I hail from th' frozen reaches o' the Thillonrian Peninsula. I 'eard o' this place from some flier I found in town, and I thought 'oh, what the 'ell, maybe it'll be good fer a laugh if it doesn't work out'."
“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”
"I don't loike the dark too much. Anythin' could be hidin' in it."
“Do you value individual freedom and choice?”
"'Course I do! Yeh try ta repress someone, unless there's a bloody good reason fer it, and... well, let's just say it'll end poorly."
“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”
"The Common tongue, and Suloise. Suloise is actually my first language, if yeh couldn't tell. As to what languages I'd loike ta learn... I've always wanted ta learn some Dwarven & Elven. Dwarves probably 'ave the best cusswords 'n' Elven jus' sounds pretty ta listen to."
“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”
"Either swimmin' in gold & booze or dead. Preferably the former, eh?"
“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”
"As long as they don't try ta stab me in the back later, or try ta kill innocent people, yeah. I'll give it a try."
“Do you think you work well with others?”
"Yep."
“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”
*snort* "I think a better question would be 'how often will ya break from the mission to stop innocent suffering?'. Eh... in all seriousness, if the job's REALLY that important, I can focus on it long enough ta get it done."
“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”
"A chance fer a good foight, fer a start. And after that, a good bottle o' booze. And after THAT, some lovely companionship."
“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”
"Not if it means someone innocent's getting kicked around and if I can do somethin' about it."
“What can you offer the team?”
"Well, I can scream at the top o' my lungs and chop someone in two. That, and... well, not many people know this, but I can stop a foight with words just as well as with a blade."
“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”
*Gestures to the scars on her body* "Sir, do I look loike the sort o' girl who's afraid of pain?"
“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”
"Companions, no question. Missions can wait--lives, not so much."
"Who do you pray to?"
"Kord! With pride and joy!"

Rolfe |

Twigs here, opting for the Rogue. Spent far longer on this than I ought have (even wrote up one and a half clerics before arriving here. I guess you can colour me enthusiastic.)
A stocky man of Oeridian descent walks into the room, doffing his hat and nervously taking a seat. "Er... The orbs? Well... Alright. You don't mind if I take a drink first? Mighty thirsty on the road. Name's Rolfe. I'm from a little hamlet in Furyondy. Name o' Stump. You've uh... probably never heard of it, I'll wager."
The man stops to stroke his whiskers. "... as for why I'm here, well. Between the Baron's taxes and ol' St. Cuthbert's dues a young sharecropper don't stand much chance. Tried reasoning with 'em, but those priests aren't the most understanding bunch." he stiffens, his soft good-natured smile turning grim as he jokingly mimes a priest with a stout club. "Lawful correction lies in a stout cudgel. Some good folk can only understand one thing. Square corners can be pounded smooth and so on..."
"Anyway, fought back, didn't I? Refused to pay 'em a copper common. They didn't like that one bit so I thought I'd try my luck in the big city."
“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”
"Never was much of a swimmer." he says, brushing the question off. "Used to be terrified of falling down the well when I was a lad. I'd wake up in cold sweats an' everything."
“Do you value individual freedom and choice?”
"That I do. Don't get me wrong, I ain't got no aspirations to be something I ain't. But the gentry should be protecting us common folk, not lording over us and robbing us blind."
“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”
"Common tongue's always been good enough for me, mister."
“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”
"I wager all this trouble will have blown over. I'll head back to the country. He's getting on in years, so ol' Pa will need my help to run the homestead."
“Do you think you work well with others?”
"So long as everybody does their bit. Where I come from you learn to value hard work."
“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”
"'course I will. Can't abide bullies."
“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”
"Protectin' those who can't protect themselves..." he says, definitively. "Oh! And a hot dinner."
“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”
"Noones above the law, but until them fat clergymen and merchants have to pay the same as honest folk, I don't think it's a law worth paying heed to."
“What can you offer the team?”
"I'm the best shot with a bow for a hundred leagues of where I come from, and that's no boast."
“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”
"Sure. Builds character, the priests are always saying."
“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”
"What's more important than saving a life? Companion or no..." he answers. "What kind of work is this, anyhow?"
"Who do you pray to?"
"Ah, well. Despite all of them strong words, I remember my first Saint Cuthbert's day. I reckon I'm still a Cuthbertine at heart. Just wish him and his were more interested in our wellbeing than the contents of our purses. But you don't get far in my line of work without paying heed to the harvest gods neither." He scratches his head. "Of course, you city folk keep a damn sight more gods than we ever did. I can barely name all of them. Damn near does my head in."
I plan on having Rolfe be an early convert to Olidammara. I think it'd fit his good humour and chaotic nature.
"If that's all, gentlemen, when can I start?"
STR: 14
DEX: 18
CON: 10 This hurts, I really want a 12 here for my fort save, might swap this with the wisdom score
INT: 8
WIS: 12
CHA: 14
Alignment: Chaotic Good (I've played so many reprehensible characters that this feels like brand new territory)
Feats: Weapon Finesse, Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot
Traits: Beast Bond and Militia Veteran for Ride and Handle Animal
Will fill out the Alias when requested.

”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”
My Name is Garl, I have no last name that I know of but I am named after Garl Glittergold the God. I was born in a small town that I care not to remember any more
“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”
what keeps me up at night? hmm... I am afraid of burning to death. That will hurt a lot. burning. yuck, I'd rather freeze then burn.
“Do you value individual freedom and choice?”
You have to because if you don't you're not going to get any where, I made the choice to come here, I wasn't expecting to talk to Orbs, but here I am answering your questions. I am not a fan of it, but still yet I am doing as it asks.
“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”
Languages, whom are you talking too. I am a gnome, I love all languages, I have Common, Draconic, Druidic, Dwarven, Gnome, Goblin, Sylvan down. but I am hoping to learn as many as I can. I want understand all.
“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”
ten years, let me see. I hope to be settled down in a nice grove with my animals protecting my wild Some place where my wolves can run free and not be hunted
“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin,
hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”
I hold no grudge towards any of them. as long as they bare me no harm or my wolf no harm then I can work with them
“Do you think you work well with others?”
As long as people respect my space and they understand that I am looking out for myself and swift first and them second then yes.
“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”
I have an issue if innocents suffer, but if there is nothing I can do about then there is nothing I can do. but if I can save them, I will try my hardest to save them.
“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”
Wealth isn't everything, I am working towards getting my full induction into the druids circle they have sent me to find a quest worthy of joining their circle. I'd be the first gnome in their circle.
“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”
With a Moral code like mine, it is follow the rules do what you can to be within the rules and you will be good
“What can you offer the team?”
being not only able track and to be a guide in any landscape, I am a great linguist as I have said before, and I have swift, with swift by my side there is nothing that I can't do
“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”
Suffering? what do you mean by suffering? you mean like being tortured? oh heck no. I will not be tortured for something. that's just not going to happen on that.
“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”
I gather it would depend on how the companions treated me, but I would say that most likely if a strong bond has grown then I would save them, but if not complete the mission.
"Who do you pray to?"
Garl Glittergold, my name sake. he's blessed me with my skills as a druid, and I was praying in his name when Swift came to me.

Terevalis Unctio of House Mysti |

I will write the profile later.
”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”
Greetings. My name is the Lady Tanariel Lantharien. I am from a small grey elven enclave in the Crystalmist Mountain. I have come here to help increase my knowledge of the world and of the magical arts
“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?” Those that have strayed from the light.
“Do you value individual freedom and choice?” Yes, individual freedoms are important unless they get in the way of another person's ability to make their choices.
“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?” I speak a plethora of languages: Elven, Draconic, Sylvan, Common, Halfling and Celesital and Orc.
“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”A powerful wiardress able to defend my people and the lesser elves.
“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?” As a necessary end to a greater good.
“Do you think you work well with others?” Of course. With natural leadership abilities I can take command of any situation as needed.
“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?” It depends on the situation.
“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?” Growth in magical
“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?” No, unjust laws are not to be followed
“What can you offer the team?” A keen elven intellect and magical strength.
“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?” I am but would prefer not to have to do so. Every elven life is very precious.
“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?” My companions for without them the mission is over.
"Who do you pray to?" The Seladrine.

Eltaor Toross |

”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”
I…. YOU…. Eltaor pointed smugly at one of the orbs Yes. You can call me Eltaor Toross. Place of origin, well, my mother. OH. You mean whose customs I follow, ha ha ha ha ha. Eltaor points at orbs as he peers into them, completely amused. I like these. They’re so… Nice.
You know there’s only one thing that can melt ice, right? Especially black ice Ha ha ha ha…. fire.
“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”
Well… If I wasn’t in a position of being observed… I’d show you my own little figments. But since you asked! Since… you asked. You remember being a child? Fatherless? Motherless? Helpless?
The Elf paused, brushing aside his green hair to flash his sunburnt orange eyes at the orbs Powerless. Being powerless doesn’t just keep me up at night- it wets my soul. With blood! Yes.
Blood.
“Do you value individual freedom and choice?”
No no no you’ve got it all wrong. I’m sorry, I’m sorry but- Eltaor put his face as close as he could to the orb nearest to him Everyone values individual freedom and choice. Yeah. The real question is…. Eltaor put a hand up as if he was attempting to have no one else but the orbs hear What are you willing to do to keep your freedom and choice?
A dark laughter ensued as Eltaor sat back, straightening his purple tunic over a white cloth shirt.
“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”
Well there’s…. Ancient. And of course common! And Orcish…. and Elven. You gotta know- Eltaor made a circle around the room The language of power. Who makes the rules, who can break them, who what when where why. How? By language. Yes! Now you get it- ha ha ha ha ha.
“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”
Ten years…. Ten years… what do I know about ten years… OH. I’ll be 35! And you- well, you’ll still be an orb.
And flames will emerge from my body- and I’ll have my own language. My own power.
“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”
I play by the rules- you see, the rules are all. Doesn’t matter if I need a… a horse to ride on, or if I’m working because I enjoy it. And I do. Enjoy it. No no no- no it’s the rules that matter. You tell me the rules- and I follow that. Nothing else- but I’ll follow the rules.
“Do you think you work well with others?”
Others??? OH. The “team”. The “Comraderie”. Of course! Of course. Like I said- it’s the rules. It’s the job- and if the job gets done, I get stronger. Strong enough to not need “others”. Strong enough to be my own “other”. So I work better with others, I bet, than others do. Ha ha ha ha ha.
“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”
You say “break”. Now I like that word. Break. Now see we need to know if we are talking a looooooooong break, or a shrt one. If it ruins the mission, well, we just can’t do it, can we? But you see, innocents suffer and others start screaming. Whining. Like they’re the ones suffering. So we stop- we help- majority rules. Power is in focus- and then?
Back to the mission.
“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”
You make the assumption I’m in the business of making wealth. I’m not. I’m. Not.
I’m in the business of power- raw, aligned, power. Wealth is an annoying object in the way of my path to that. Buy this wand, craft this rod, get this scroll, buy this transport. Annoying. Wealth is annoying.
“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”
Beliefs. Unjust. Obey. Of those three words, only one actually affects me- and that’s the notion of not obeying. I control my beliefs- if I break them no effect. I believe it is unjust- that’s almost a double negative; ha ha ha ha ha. Now obey. That sounds like me getting in trouble with the powers- with the mission. I always obey- even myself. Ha ha ha ha ha.
[b]“What can you offer the team?”
Something they don’t have- something none of them have. The Mission. They think they know themselves- but I’m here to show them what the law really means; and that’s that the law doesn’t work for us, or them- or me! The law works for them- and we should become them.
“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”
Without question. There is no growth without pain ha ha ha ha ha. I bet these guys- Eltaor pointed back and forth at the Orb They came at the cost of pain. How many splinters did it take to make this table? How many poked fingers and thimble-less thumbs did it take to make my clothes? Suffering is everything I need. Really you should ask if I’ll seek suffering to complete the mission- but I suppose that’s a different question entirely.
“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”
When I was a boy… A little, little boy…. My family had a goat. And we loved this goat- we raised it. We fed it. It gave us milk. But one day mommy was just so hungry. And daddy- well, he was gone. And we loved that goat- but it was there for us. So we killed it- I killed it. You see- the companions exist for the mission. If I save my companions, there was no mission. And there is a mission- so I’ll complete it.
Because without it- the companions were never there.
"Who do you pray to?"
Eltaor filled the area with his dark, throttled laughter and clapped Finally! Finally. A real question about me. I…. I pray to things you can’t see. Things inside me- things you don’t want inside you because you can’t see. You just can’t see it- they run everything.
I pray to your fear, so that it gives me power.
I pray to your cowardice, so that it gives me courage.
I pray on the weak, so that I am strong.
I pray to the strong, for I am weak.

Anchard Wulfphear |

”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”
"Anchard Wulfphear of Pale... I walked." Anchard rasies a defiant brow as he pauses before speaking again. "If you mean what brings me here today, the simple answer is I grew tired of living in the inquisitional shadow of Nyrond and the harsh winter of my home."
“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”
"The horrors and crimes one people can deal out to another in the name of the gods. Too numerous to list, too horrible to explain, and the everyone just accepts it."
“Do you value individual freedom and choice?”
"I'm of Pale, we can not value things we do not have. I suppose this is another reason I am here... Yes, I value freedom enough to fight for it!"
“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”
"Common, my native tongue, and the universal language of violence. I suppose you'd also want to know I speak Flan and "
“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”
"I plan to return home and liberate my countrymen from Nyrond's rule once I am strong enough."
“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”
"Yes. Anyone with objections either has their head up their own arse or a racist."
“Do you think you work well with others?”
"We are all connected, those that make real changes must work together, and so will I."
“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”
"My people suffer every day, and I press on in hopes of one day helping them. If I wanted to help every innocent I crossed I would be abandoning my people to forgotten to the passages of time."
“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”
"Power!"
“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”
"I do not obey unjust laws, but I have little time for applying my beliefs to them."
“What can you offer the team?”
"Momentum. I always press forward."
“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”
"Yes."
“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”
"The mission. A nation of people awaits my return. Who am I to value my companions over the needs of many?"
"Who do you pray to?"
"I pray to the gods of old, the native gods of my homeland. Your people refer to me as a pagan."

Got a Sorceror or Bard (as needed) Submission here!
”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”
The honey-haired slightly built man bows to the orbs and stares them down like they are people, switching which he addresses at proper intervals. My name is Alistair Maxwell of The Shield Lands, recently of Critwall. I am a refugee from all of the recent and current fighting in the North what with the Suloise Barbarian hordes and the recent Civil War skirmishes with Furyondy. I have come to Greyhawk to make my fortune so that I might return home able to help guide my home through these tumultuous times.
“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”
I worry constantly of war. The Shield Lands have not remained very peaceful for very long at any points in time. The constant threat of border war with Furyondy and the unsettled and untamed bandit kingdoms and barbarian hordes from the Iuz Empire to the North. I live in fear of not being strong enough to prevent my family from being slaughtered in someone else's conflicts.
“Do you value individual freedom and choice?”
To an extent - I mean that's what our people have fought the Empire for for all those years - the rights to freedom, freedom of religion and expression at the very least. I do think limits are necessary. The individual needs to be mindful of the community.
“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”
I know Abyssal of course, because it is a precaution against the Evil One's encroachment. I have always had an interest in magic too and so the tongue of Dragons and Elves have always interested me and I have taken them up over time.
“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”
I see myself with enough means and respect to be seen as a real leader. I think the leadership of the Shield Lands is far too heavy handed and I need to be able to go back having earned enough respect and gold to have a positive influence on the direction of our nation before they make too many mistakes that could haunt us.
“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”
I'm not a racist if that's what you're asking. It talks all sorts. If they're willing to put aside whatever differences they have with humanity, we should make an effort to meet them part of the way. I will not abide atrocities committed by our allies though.
“Do you think you work well with others?”
Absolutely. I have been told I am a gifted orator and possess a talent for getting along with just about anyone. My family is of noble origin originally - opera singers from Furyondy once upon a time - so it seems to follow that I inherited the gift for gab that they had too. I am a family and community oriented person, so really I only feel at home when surrounded by other people
“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”
I am sorry if this disqualifies me from this work but yes I absolutely would. Too many people punch down in life and it's my job, my duty as a noble really to prevent that kind of abuse.
“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”
I work for status and fame as much as anything. My family is among the most minor of the noble families in the Shield Lands. No one needs performers and acrobats and orators when you're in the middle of a series of wars. They need warriors. I need to make those thick-headed warriors listen to me and so I need a platform - I need a resume showing what I am capable of.
“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”
I respect the laws of most places - I get it, I am from a very military minded community after all. I will not abide unbridled tyranny like that of Iuz, but laws, even strict ones that are justified - I have to believe they exist for a reason.
“What can you offer the team?”
Well, and this is a bit of a family secret that I have been looking into ever since I discovered them, I can cast spells. Not through any sort of study but through the arcane power coursing through my blood. These spells are pretty darn useful, if I do say so myself and a boon to any team. It's a talent several of my family members possess over the generations. Plus, I have quite the honeyed-tongue which can be an asset in all sorts of scenarios.
“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”
I am willing to endure anything in order to accomplish my goals. I will take punishment and collect scars. Scars are nothing new to a Shield Lander.
“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”
Save the team first. For one thing, there will always be more missions but if the team is dead you can't accomplish anything. Most importantly, it's just the right thing to do.
"Who do you pray to?"
I pray to Rao, god of peace every night for relief from the constant conflict that rules my life.

Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. ”I am called Molov Dert, from the Lortmils beyond Verbobonc and the gnomish Kron Hills. My journey here was a matter of faith and duty to my Circle until my master died leaving me rootless and free to decide my future. I came here today to earn coin and see if this is where nature takes me.”
Please address the orbs.” ”Of course. But what of the silent three? How will they make a decision?”
“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?” “A creeping death that infests the head turning the mind to mush and makes a druid into a witless fool. Or the chains and manacles of towns and city life when the world of animals, plants and the elements lives and breathes outside.”
“Do you value individual freedom and choice?” ”I do, especially when married to common sense and strength of purpose. But I have seen the power of a wolf pack supporting and working a s a team to succeed so I know there is more to life than these simple values. It is in the shades of grey that a dwarf can learn what suits his outlook best.”
“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?” “I know dwarven and common. The Hateful War has passed in the Lortmils but we are still taught goblinoid in case their plague returns.”
“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?” ”I do not see myself. My eyes look outwards to experience life. Were I a short lived human I may feel differently, but I am not.”
“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?” ”I have heard more tales of the evils of goblins and their kin in our caverns than I have eaten porridge. A meal for Godsday every week. But surely there are some more deserving greenskins out there? But I have not heard of them so good luck finding such a cause.”
“Do you think you work well with others?” ”I am trained to work within nature in all its glory but beneath this skin lies the heart of a dwarf. A man of clan, family and friends with a code of iron that we work for each other. But as for how well I may do at that, I do not score myself.”
“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?” ”That is a bit thin. What suffering and do I decide if they are innocent or not first? And what is at stake in this mission? But speaking in generalities I know that once I have given my word to do something then I regard the mission as the path and any other distractions as off my journey.”
“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?” The woods, birds and animals matter to me. The curious fey, cool river banks, dark mossy trees, and dappled glades hold more pleasure for my soul than a piece of gold. I have a beard, am a dwarf but not many of my kin hold such belief.”
“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?” ”No.”
“What can you offer the team?” ”Magical support, years surviving in the wild and a staunch friend. A shoulder to cry on and a healing bandage if needed.”
“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?” ”There is little point in starting something and not finishing it. Who cares if it is harder, the way must be found. But I have learnt patience - that like the spider spinning a web, I can keep trying despite any suffering if I wish to trap my fly.”
“Complete the mission or save your companions - choose one. And why?” ”Why? Why would I choose? No, my companions are like blood and may not understand my deserting them for an oathsworn mission. I would expect some companions are more deserving of my trust than others but truthfully I cannot choose. A mission to save a village may be so needed and urgent that I should not stop to save anyone, but most times these things are not so cut and dried. Give me more of the tale so that I can answer better but first supply me with the companions I can hold hard to.”
"Who do you pray to?" ”The Old Faith with the Circle of Life and Death at its heart sings to me. I am blessed with minor magical art in response to my constant praying.“

Bonifacius the Bold |

Sitting down opposite the hooded man a young dwarf with already an impressiv beard sits down.
”Please state your name, your place of origin and how you came to this building today. Please address the orbs.”
Well met, and mightily nice of you to offer a poor soul some chance for some meat during an interview. Sweetens the tongue, haaha. I choose the name Bonifacius after I was declared a worthy son of Clan Silverwater, and I got the title the bold after challenging a son of Clan Goldbarlay to a drinking game. How did I arrive in this building? I helped a caravan of dwarven ale to reach this place. They want to stay here for a while to sell their wares, but I got itchy feet, I need to move on!"
“What horrors, seen or unseen, known or unknown, scares you or keeps you up at night?”
"Oh a few! A broken axe in battle and my comrade next to me perishes. I botched cask of mead presented to my superiors. A dragon swooping down on us."
“Do you value individual freedom and choice?”
"Indeed. Without freedom we are just slaves to others."
“What languages do you speak? Which do you care to learn?”
"I speak common, dwarven and orcish. What to learn... depends where my feet carry me, I do not mind learning languages."
“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”
"At a place, far, far away, tasting new types of ale and mead, learning new ways to brew!"
“Will you be able to work with, negotiate with or support a goblin, hobgoblin or orc tribe to get the job done?”
"Any respected dwarf has some issues with those. Luckily, I am not very respected."
“Do you think you work well with others?”
"Of course, well it depends on the work of course! But I am less of a lun... am passion driven battlerager than most of my kin. You have to learn to work together to make great mead, you know!"
“If you see innocents suffering will you break from the mission to resolve the issue?”
"Isn´t it the innocents who suffer first? It depends on the mission.
I would say aye, but imagine you see one innocent, who is suffering, knowing that you carry the salvation for many... Still it is one innocent you might safe!"
“Besides wealth, what else will you work for?”
"For the chance to travel, to see new sights, and now and then to wetten my axe."
“Will you obey the law even if you feel it is unjust and goes against your beliefs?”
"Obey... is not one of my strong points."
“What can you offer the team?”
"Many a good drinking song, but seriously, I am a decent scout, a decent fighter, and I can heal if worst comes to worst.
“Are you willing to endure suffering to complete the mission?”
"I am a dwarf! Of course!"
“Complete the mission or save your companions- choose one. And why?”
"Is anything sadder than see a friend die! But if I fail the mission and hundreds die....."
"Who do you pray to?"
"I pray to Hanseathic, the Bearded One. My devotion in him gives me my powers!"
