We'll see how it pans out Hedrick

@Hedrick: Yes they can.

I'vee been doing some brainstorming and have come up with a concept for an Archeologist Bard. Which to me actually seems more like a Rogue alternate class that replaces sneak attack with spells.
Thinking he'll be a second son of Brelish nobility who never quite fit in and spent more time on the city streets and playing at sword games than attending to his responsibilities. He'd be well educated but far from being an intellectual. Actually his disinterest with academia and being groomed for administrative duties has led him to a life of adventure.

I've already picked 2 traits Vagabond Child from the Taldor Capaign Setting and Sword Scion from Kingmaker.

You gain a third for the AP

Technically, Sword Scion is a Campaign Trait for Kingmaker, which would negate the Campaign Trait for Reign of Winter since you are not supposed to have more than one trait in any one category.
This is particularly applicable given that Campaign Traits tend to be notably more powerful than standard Traits & Sword Scion is especially potent in that regard since it really is mechanically equivalent to taking Weapon Focus twice unless you have access to Fighter Only Feats.

Oh ok. These AP rules are new to me. This will be my 1st time running or being in one.

Crap if he allows that I will take it too. It beats out an elven curve blade.

Let's try not to min/max just for the sake of it. We should be assisting our GM, not taking advantage. The game will be better for everyone if we do.

Yeah, unfortunately that one is just about the most egregiously overpowered Trait I have ever seen. I say that freely admitting I have used it many times when building for Kingmaker if I was aiming for a martialist/Duelist style character & didn't have a specific weapon I was aiming for that wasn't Longsword or Aldori sword. The only other one that I've ever seen that could be argued to be more powerful would be the one in the RotRL AE that allowed you to sell items for better than 50% of Market price & that one is really just boring. Although there is one for CoCT that makes you immune to the two big Diseases you run into in that AP, THAT is pretty powerful also, in that AP. Of course it has the limitation that you have to be Varisian or have a family history of being a strong friend to Varisians.
I'm pretty sure that is the reason they put the limitation on Traits of only one per 'type'.

For future reference, off the top of my head the Trait categories are: Campaign, Combat, Faith, Magic, Race, Region, Religion & Social.

Campaign Traits tend to be a bit more powerful on the whole because they are intended to help tie the character concept to the AP in question. Religion Traits also tend to be a bit more powerful because they are tied to specific Deities worshiped & if you stop worshiping that Deity for some reason, or you betray your religion, you lose the Trait & don't get to request the GM to allow you a replacement.

Yeah Sword Scion is pretty awesome. I also just noticed that Vagabond Child is a Regional Trait from Taldor so I guess I'll have to be from Taldor and find myself another trait. Does make a certain amount of sense as the AP starts in Taldor.

So what's the current party make up? A fighter, a Summoner, a Ranger and a Cleric?

Kilain= Cleric (Dwarf)

Grey = Summoner (Halfling)
Kjell = bada$$ (Human) [is that a class?] ;)
Hedrick = Ranger (Elf)

Sorry this took me so long folks. Here's my character submission. Vitali Lebeda the son of an exiled Brevoy noble who grew up on the streets of Taldor's bustling metropolis Oppara. You can find a background and stats in the profile.

I built him as an archeologist Bard. I might make a few changes to his stats depending on whether the group actually needs him to step in the frontline. Also I haven't finalized my equipment yet as I don't know how much starting cash I actually get.

Looks good!

Max starting gold.

Yay! Someone who can share the arcane caster/'knowledge guy' load.

I'll get my gear sorted out then.

I'm still kind of undecided between high Dex and high STR. So with a Ranger, a Fighter (pardon me badass) and an Eidolon we prolly have enough front line power that I could build my char more as a support kind of guy using a bow and Finesse when need be.

That is the route I would take.

Honestly, I have been holding off on bringing the 'Big Dog' out in combat unless really needed/we're being overrun, I mostly focus on using my SMI for 'flanking buddy'/fodder purposes. That said, we are somewhat light on ranged combatants.

Okay I'll start of with Finesse and Dex emphasis then. This is also better for my skills and I can potentially move into the wip line of feats later on. Only Problem is I don't have Longbow Proficiency.

so Ive entered Negotiation 101 with the caravan master...lol never take the first offer.

Vitali is slightly reworked and ready for adventure. I'm still missing 1 Trait. I'd kind of like the Hunter's Eye trait that grants proficiency with longbows but it's a PFS faction trait and thus prolly not allowed.

What is the prof bonus?

I forgot about Profession and Craft. I was thinking profession(Gambler) and Craft(Fletcher) would be fitting.

I've got bowyer fletcher covered and I am a Tanner, a maker of hides and leathers.

Thing is Vitali is a city boy and made his money through illicit activity so giving him very outdoorish skills doesn't seem overly fiting.

How about scribe then? For counterfeiting purposes.

That would likely already fall under the Linguistics skill since that is what is used for forgery checks, both the making & the detecting...
Weird I know.

I'll go for scribe and gambler. Scribe makes a certain amount of sense as he's probably enjoyed a clasical education.

Plus you can make us cool looking certificates with fancy writing on it. I.e, Congratulations on completing 2hours of murderous cadaver training!

Vitali you're up in the gameplay board

Reign of Winter in search of a rogue-type pc. First come, first play lvl1. See beginning post for building instructions. Any questions just post

Snowcaster Elf rogue? hmmm

Here is my submission for the spot of rogue. The background is from a rogue I had made earlier but that game is dying/dead. The character itself is a new roll, I even managed to find a trait from the campaign to use. His profile has his Hero Lab statblock and the background. Let me know if you need anything else.

Shadow Lodge

You guys seem to already have a summoner, a ranger and an archeologist bard. Exactly what kind of rogue-type is needed?

Face, skillmonkey, trapmaster and woodsman appear to be all covered by that configuration

Bard is leaving the group

Rickard Zain here. I can submit this bard instead if it fits the group better. I'm happy to try either.

I like the rogue idea, and for where you're from it will be Zimar. I will message you with more details to tie you into the story.

Outstanding and thanks! I'm out at the moment but I'll check for your message.

Just thought that I would weigh in as a current player. Welcome Rickard! I like the rogue. Have you considered weapon finesse for the rapier instead of two-weapon fighting so that you could take advantage of Dex and use that high Cha to feint for sneak attack damage?

I have done so on other rogues, I took 2WF since it fit the background I wrote. I'll take WF first chance I get. And thanks!

Hey...no problem. I am really not a Min/Maxer, as all of the others in this party can attest to, but I do run many rogues, and I thought I would mention it. You seem to be quite on top of it, though. Again, welcome!

Pathfinder is still fairly new to me so feel free to suggest anything that comes to mind. I like to have flaws in my PCs though. :)
