Garret escorts the dwarves to the Abacus, leaving Tyraneus, Radnor, Nuzzle and Dorn to deal with Holy Adenhile.

Garret:

The straggling dwarves make the 200-odd yards to the landing point seem like an eternity. Metella and Amauhak stand ready to greet the envoys. Great job rescuing these emissaries Metella says. But what of your companions?

Team Vengeance:

Garret has a bitter undertone to his voice "My companions decided that they need to put down the people that imprisoned the emissaries. In my opinion that is not part of our mission."

Garret's voice is strained "I promised them that we would wait until an hour before daybreak, is that possible? I really feel horrible that I left them to fend for themselves, even though I do not agree with the battle they are fighting."

Radnor nods, "Right we need a plan. A simple straight forward plan. How about this Dorn you are the slowest, so when you get into position to run around the corner yell really loud and the rest of us who should already be in position will charge in to. I'd say we split me and Nuzz one side and you two on the other. Work for everyone?"

Nuzzle rolls his eyes and mutters, "Its like being in the presence of a chess master." But the eidolon also nods., and adds with a sigh, "Go Team Vengeance."

"Oi! Who you're you callin' slow, little knight?!" Dorn asks with a growl and a squint. "Jes' cuz I'm not a wizzard with maths an' numbers an' all..."

He spits onto the inn's floor and straps his shield onto his forearm. "Still an' all, plan works. Don't like that this Addlehead is out there alone calm as can be. Maybe th' sisters are up on th' roof or somethin' ready to open fire..."

He shrugs, not caring overmuch if they are. "Yeh, let's go."

(Dorn's base speed is actually 30, hee, but it's still a fine plan. Let's rock!)

Radnor grins salutes and sets off to the eastern side of the Inn, hurrying around to the corner with Nuzzle and waiting for Dorn's super subtle signal.

I've put up the map, showing Adenhile and two thugs that are visible. I've put Radnor and Nuzzle in some position that was attainable, Dorn and Tyrnaeus behind the inn door. Let me know if you want to move somewhere else. Moving into the courtyard will start the encounter.

Dorn moves his head side to side on his neck, cracking the vertebrae. The dwarf is grinning a little and bouncing on his toes.

"You'd best hold on to me wand, eh?" he says to Tyraneus, and offers it over for the priest to hold if he is willing. It will do Dorn no good in the middle of a fight.

With his shield strapped to his arm, and axe ready, Dorn kicks open the door into the courtyard with an enormous, kinda-deranged grin on his scarred face.

Dorn kicks in the door, and the two thugs looks up in surprise. Radnor can hear the movement of a door, but doesn't hear a scream (Any roars, Dorn?), yet. Holy Adenhile, the priest with the mask, stands up to speak In the name of the most holy living god, drop your weapons! She draws her conclusions when she sees the deranged grin on Dorns face.

Metella speaks to Garret: And right you were. They are endangering our mission. What if they come after us? Escaping should be our top priority. Can't you try and convince them?

Garret laughs, Do not think I haven't tried to convince them. That Pathfinder agents are equal to each other is one of the main strengths of the Society, but in cases like this it works against us.

Garret strains his eyes, trying to get a good view of the inn and his companions.

"In th' name of.... aw, hell with it, 'm no good with the speeches!" Dorn shouts with his grin only spreading. "But I ain't much for none of the gods, livin' or nothin'!"

And the dwarf barrels forward, blade of his axe flashing. Stupid gods. Stupid magic.

(On his turn, move forward to Adenhile and attack.)

What foul sorcery is this?!?! His wild swing cannot hit even a startled opponent. Dorn yells out wordlessly in frustration.

Nuzzle and Radnor burst in after hearing the commotion, Radnor shooting Dorn a dirty look as he bellows, "You were supposed to yell!"

They each move as far as they can into the courtyard, Nuzzle's greater speed putting him in front.

As the courtyard is suddenly crowded with adventurers, the thugs spring into action, and start firing their crossbows at Tyraneus. Die, you infidel one shouts, as he misses. The second thug focuses on his shot a bit more, and scores a solid hit.

Garret:

After a brief pause, Garret hears the familiar screams of Dorn and Radnor, as well as - briefly - the sound of a mighty fire roaring, and the twanging of crossbow strings.

Wow, look at those attacks rolls!

Nuzzle charges forward and unleashes a barrage of claws and teeth upon the masked priestess flanking with Dorn, all of his attacks ripping into flesh and sending blood spraying forth!

Radnor follows, heading for the priestess if she is still up or the northern guard if she falls and driving his lance home with a roar!

Before she manages to act, Holy Adenhile is turned into a bloody rag, courtesy of Dorn, Radnor, and Nuzzle. Barely recognisable as a human anymore, Adenhile lies motionless on the ground.

One of the thugs shouts noo! and the thugs fire their crossbows in revenge

Nuzzle rips through the padded armour the thugs are wearing, and already the first bite proves fatal for the enforcer. Looking on in horror, the second thug first sees his companion being torn apart, then the tip of a lance driving through him.

With both enforcers defeated, combat is over.

Congratulations - this is the end of the scenario. You have defeated Holy Adenhile and rescued the dwarven envoys. Although you can still continue playing (I believe Radnor has an international incident to start) I will start creating chronicles now. If you have day jobs, please make the roll.

"Tweren't even a fight," Dorn says unhappily, staring down at the body of 'Holy Adenhile', then giving Nuzzle a glare. "You took all the FUN out of it, you great big blue planar trespasser!"

The dwarf sighs and wipes off his axe on the priestess's robes. A perfunctory search of the bodies, and then he drags them all to the river, to be weighted down with stones and tossed in before they leave Razmir's treacherous shores well behind them. No reason to leave corpses when there's all that damned magic about that lets folk talk to them.

After washing off the blood in the river, he offers Garret and the others his big grin before reboarding the ship.

"Right, the rubbish's cleaned up an' the coast is clear. Let's put space between us and this place, yeh? And I promise," he says to Garret, "I won't get in no fight for the next... half-hour, at least!"

The dwarf's raucous laughter rings out over the waters as they set sail once more.

(Dorn would prefer not to light the inn on fire, and will try and talk Radnor out of it, but I think Radnor had already agreed not to. Regardless, good job guys! Gotta say that was an easier one than I was expecting-- didn't go into barb rage once the entire time! Or maybe we're just that good.)

No day job for Dorn.


Once everybody is back onto the ship, Temel comes up and says
You did a good job there, and we're sure the get further unnoticed now that there are no witnesses. Temel says. There are no witnesses, are there?

It was a foolish thing! This could have jeopardised the whole mission! Metella counters, trying to one-up the Kallistrocrat. Still, glad that we found the captives.

With that, the Abacus makes its escape, putting Razmir behind it as quickly as possible. Other than the friction that exists between Metella and Temel, the journey to Mendev is uneventful.


Primary condition: Rescue the dwarven envoys - success
Secondary condition: Prevent Adenhile from escaping, win the bluff against Grymble sisters, find box of hair and blood (at least 2/3) - success

Radnor concedes that lighting the Inn would serve little practical purpose. He endeavours to find the Grymble sisters and attempts to convince the group that the wisest course is to hand them over to dwarven justice - after first checking that such justice is to his taste.

"It has been a pleasure working with you all! Sorry if my pig head caused you problems, but I want to be a Knight and that does not always mean taking the easiest, or even most prudent path."
