Backstory:
Randor's mother Thelisa May Acton was a drunken lush who lived off her wealthy merchant father's generosity, and resented her son horribly. When his grandfather's business went under due to piracy, and embezzlement, and the old skinflint commited suicide his now penniless daughter became the Mistress of a Taldan diplomat and abandoned her four year old son at the Cailean orphanage - leaving him with only a battered old lance that she had once drunkely claimed belonged to his father.
Fortunately Randor has always been a cheerful fellow and he took to the orphanage like a duck to water. From sitting at home wondering when his mother would be back he suddenly had a world of friends and fun, and Cayden Cailean was exactly his sort of god.
Knights were always a subject of fascination for young Randor, his mother claimed his father was a Taldan knight, and his imaginary friend was his trusty steed, Nuzzle the furry dog faced dragon. At some point Nuzzle changed from a vague concept to an actual presence and became a great favourite with the orphans who went to great pains to hide his existence from the staff - aided by the fact that he could be made to vanish on que.
Eventually Randor got a job with a former alumnus of the orphanage as an apprentice carpenter. He proved fairly proficient, was good with the customers, and worked hard, but he found himself constantly bored - worse he was not able to summon Nuzzle at work. Now he has decided to try his hand at a more adventurous life with his furry companion at his side!
