GM Granta |
As Tahltria writes the last letter, a secret passage opens in the west wall. After a short series of dark tunnels cut into the stone, you find an office lit by a glowing paperweight.
The desk is covered in paperwork, most of it completely indecipherable.
Tahltria |
Tahltria heads in first, "Let..me..see..if..there..are..traps..first." she looks around and cautiously proceeds all the way to the desk. "Writ..ing..on..the.pa..per..Not..sure..what..it.says..Should..be..safe..to..come..in."
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Kavor Doan |
The dwarf takes a look at the paper.
"Hmm. Can't read it. We can try to get a scroll of Comprehend Languages somewhere."
Farlen Mizzul |
"I don't know why we can't take all this stuff to Drenge. We don't have to decipher all this stuff ourselves. Pathfinders are supposed to cooperate. Sharing this stuff will be a good thing for our pathfinder community altogether." "Let's just take all his stuff in."
Farlen starts to collect the papers to make sure they are not fragile or damaged. And looks for a sack or something to transport them.
"Do any of you have something to put these papers in?
Kavor Doan |
"I have a pack that can keep the papers safe."
Kavor collects the papers, and the glowing paperweight, if nobody objects.
GM Granta |
You collect the documents without difficulty and exit the secret caverns.

As Althera exits Karina's shrine room, several ruffians suddenly appear, pointing their weapons at her. One shouts, "That discovery is ours, Pathfinders. We're going to kill you for trying to steal it!"
Everybody is up.
Althera |
Althera steps out of the passageway, but a bit away form the oncoming group. She calls out:
"Are you sure there's no way we can discuss this? Death is usually not a profitable exercise."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Tahltria |
Tahltria lets out something that sounds like she is choking but you realize she is laughing "If..they..come..to..kill..us..then..we..should..give..them..the..op..por.. tun..ity..to..see..their..err..or."
Tahltria unsheathes Dirgesinger as she races to the closest ruffian and the room echoes its eerie song. Using the momentum of her speed she cuts upward from the man's stomach to his neck.
Elven blade swing: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Farlen Mizzul |
Farlen mumbles "We're in it now." "Negotiation concluded."
With that, Farlen moves to follow Tahltria. "If I can get close, this could be over."
Farlen moves to south and just east of the bad guys and casts his spell. A blinding flash of many colors erupts in a cone encompassing 3 of the four bandits. 45 degree cone in the lines drawn. You have created a drawing monster.
color spray: DC15 Will save
Kavor Doan |
"If it's a fight you want, you'll have one. You can surrender any time you like."
Kavor Doan moves up and casts True Strike.
GM Granta |
@Farlen: Right next to the line menu is the shapes menu. You can create cones and spheres more easily with that one.

Althera backs away from the fight, trying to talk it out, but Tahltria runs right up and swings wide at one of the halflings. Farlen quickly takes cares of business, knocking out three of the four assailants with his spell. Kavor then moves up and casts a spell to make sure he takes out the last attacker with his next strike.
Akter is up. Because of the holiday, I'll wait an extra day for him to post.
GM Granta |
Farlen Mizzul |
Farlen listens and watches as the last foe casts.
spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
"He is calling to his god to shield him. He is not surrendering."
Farlen moves to just in front of Tahltria an casts magic missiles and a dart of force shoots out of his finger.
mm damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
i will move farlen in a minute. I am on my phone.
Kavor Doan |
"Let's see his god shield him from this."
The wizard takes a step, draws his bola, and throws.
-4 nonproficiency, -4 cover, -4 target in melee, +1 dex, +20 insight.
Ranged Trip: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
His foe topples to the ground. I am assuming a 22 beats the CMD, even with Shield of Faith.
"You are beaten. Now you will yield."
Akter Phruse |
Sorry guys - holiday fun :)
Akter advances and pulls his bow, pointing to the enemies and taking his time to aim. He expects them to surrender, and would like to avoid unnecessary bloodshed at this point.
GM Granta |
Farlen and Kavor batter the man with their attacks, but he continues to fight, and Althera has to to take finish him off when he tries to cast another spell.
You safely bring the documents to Drandle Dreng, receiving his congratulations as your just due. Several weeks later, you each receive the following letter.
Mission completed.
Kavor Doan |
We stabilized that dude and took him alive, and all of his Color Sprayed buddies.
Who were they?
GM Granta |
Group Selection: 1d4 ⇒ 2
They were Devil's Claw mercenaries. The company is composed primarily of those who failed to become Hellknights, and they were hired by an unnamed Chelaxian family to get leverage against the Society for unnamed reasons. Additionally, they were able to attack you because you were betrayed by an unknown member of the Society, but that is not deemed important enough for further pursuit.
Basically, this scenario is chock full of information and options for the GM, almost none of which have any affect on the scenario or the players.
