[PBP GameDay #4] GM..Silbeg's 6-98 Serpents Rise (Inactive)

Game Master Silbeg

Session ID #119
The Agents

Shadow Lodge

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 7th-level pregenerated characters.

Years of political maneuvering, espionage, smuggling, and diplomacy have set the stage for the Aspis Consortium’s most ambitious attack on their Inner Sea rivals: the Pathfinder Society. All that remains are several key preparations that only an elite team of Aspis agents can arrange, and once the fireworks begin, these same agents must strike quickly and mercilessly to secure objectives—some shared and some connected to deeper plots—and escape without the Society being any the wiser.

In this adventure the players portray agents of the Aspis Consortium using 7th-level pregenerated characters. The events in this story also connect to and expand upon those in "Siege of Serpents".

Please refer to my info page, reached by clicking through on my name above for my expectations. Please post if you are interested, with reference links to threads you have played in (if any). Final decision on who will be playing will be mine, and may not be first come, first serve.

Thank you!

I'd like to join. I have not had the honor to participate in a PbP in years, however. Fortunately this PbP con is my chance to finally get in the door. I'm already signed up for the Phantom Penomena run by Lari, another pregen campaign though for 1st levels.

Thanks for GMing.

I'll bite. Hmmm. Tastes like chicken.

I would like to play it.

Let's hope we fill this up with some fun players. This is an excellent scenario, with a lot of chance to RP it up!

If you haven't already, I would suggest reading:

Doomed Hero's PbP Guide

Also, check the campaign info page, I'll have some links there.

Grand Lodge

Jack,

I would love to play as well. Full disclosure: you GMed once for me in St. Paul, and I've used your PFS Prep pages several times for PFS games that I've GMed.

PBP Games that I'm playing in:

(Okay, so they weren't titled "the musical" but we've got songs interspersed in our gameplay. We're weird.)

Hmm

Hilary,

that'd be fine, but wouldn't you rather play this live, perhaps at Skål Con? We're running this 8 times over the weekend (4 on Friday, 4 on Sunday). Just wondering... not turning you away by any means. If you want in, you are in!

Is Bret going to play as well (or isn't he into PbP)?

Grand Lodge

My issue with playing it live is that we're already tightly scheduled at Skal Con, and Bret isn't sure that he wants to play this one. Actually, can you convince him? I can try to point him to this thread...

Hmm

Sure, invite him to check out the thread.

I will say that this is an exceptional scenario -- with opportunities to do things that you pretty much never get to do in PFS! This includes playing evil characters, etc. Lots of unique RP opportunities... lots of opps to ham it up and talk about those "Nasty Pathfinders" and the like!

Pathfinder Starfinder Maps, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I would like to join Hilary in this PbP. I've played in one of your games live via our Meetup group and enjoyed it.

I am currently playing in one PbP game, The Lost City of Barakus as Kakao. This was my first attempt at a PbP and it has been a very slow game. I have been looking for a faster game to join.

Given how noisy live events are and your mention of ample RP opportunity in this scenario, I think for me PbP may be better than live. The ears just aren't as good as they used to be.

BretI, that's cool. Guess Hmm talked you into it!

Current players:
1) miteke
2) Great Green God
3) TFidelFHell
4) Hmm
5) BretI
6)

So, as soon as we have a sixth, I'll get things going with the characters (so that you all have a chance to choose, and get familiar with the characters... some are rather complex!)

The Exchange

Can I?

I have only PBPed once before, Way of the Wicked, long time ago on different boards (game closed). I am a luddite, currently auditioning for WBG: The musical too

For actual RPG experience : I'm fairly new to this hobby, started in 2010, so I'm about 5 years old or so into this (oh wow where does time fly...I thought it was only 3 years...). Played mainly PFS, but its a mix of face-to-face/online.

Grand Lodge

Mort's posts in WBG Too the musical have been stellar. He may be new, but I've been impressed with what he's written for us so far.

Hmm

Sounds good.

Then, we have:
1) miteke
2) Great Green God
3) TFidelFHell
4) Hmm
5) BretI
6) Just a Mort.

I am currently working on translating the characters into hero lab -- what I will do is add them to the information page in spoilers.

I am hoping (beyond hope) that they'll release the PDFs of the characters only.

Does anyone have a preference for playing/not playing complicated characters?

Grand Lodge

Hey Jack, that's terrific!

I consider myself an intermediate player. I enjoy playing complicated characters, and tend to have a preference for either casters or party face. If both are in the same character, even better! I also tend to love the pet classes.

Questions:

1) I'm not sure what options are available. Do you have a short list for us?

2) Should we create generic pregen aliases for this (e.g. "Hmm PreGen") that we can use for this and other pregens in future PFS PBPs?

Hmm

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hilary, what I am going to do is assign the characters randomly, without showing details. There will be a blurb. As a matter of fact, why don't I just do this now?

Everyone, please post that you accept your character, or would like to trade. Preferably within the next 24 hours, just so that I know that you are remaining active. Thanks!

Note: I have assigned these completely randomly -- I will note if I think this is a complicated character in your spoiler.

Creating a pregen alias is sort of optional here, as long as you set up your tag lines and have the stat blocks, etc., in your profile.

miteke:

The Vengeful
Marnarius
NE Male human slayer 7
After being trapped in a dangerous demiplane for years with virtually no reinforcements, Marnarius has become a hardened survivor. It is all the Pathfinder Society’s fault, and the price can only be paid in blood. He is a bronze rank Aspis agent.

Great Green God:

The Ambitious
Zurnzal
NE male half-orc brawler 6/Traditionally not-permitted PrC 1
All his life, people have told Zurnzal that he could never succeed, yet he has harnessed the anger he feels towards these critics and used it to break his enemies and impress the few allies he has. When those who doubted him stand broken and bloodied, he will know that he was right.
You'll want to be familiar with which feats you can use for your martial versatility, other than that, pretty straight-forward

TFidelFHell:

The Professional
Shohiraj
N Female human unchained rogue 7
The Aspsis Consortium may be coldly efficient in its business dealings, but it’s a lucrative employer. Shohiraj’s professional demeanor has earned her respect and good pay in the otherwise dangerous business of breaking and entering.

Hmm:

The Leader
Rataji
LE Male human enchanter 7
Confident and charming, Rataji is able to get his way with most people even without resorting to magic. He is a silver rank Aspsis agent.
Fits both of your requests/preferences!

BretI:

The Artist
Joliryn
NE Female halfling magus 7
Thanks to her natural mastery of magic, Joliryn has risen above the ranks of her enslaved Chelish kin and joined the Aspis Consortium. Joliryn has no rank in the Aspis Consortium, but that does not mean she does not come without power.
A magus is a relatively complicated character

Just a Mort.:

The Experiment
322
CN Female elf oracle 7
Long years spent under the stars’ scrutiny have left his elf haunted by distant voices. All that she once was has been replaced by what she now is; the prized experiment only known by her test number, 322.
322 is a relatively complicated character

Please only look at your spoilers, and let me know ASAP if you are fine with this character.

Grand Lodge

Yes, I can accept my character.

GM:
Is he an sorcerer, wizard, arcanist, bard?

Pathfinder Starfinder Maps, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I am fine with this character.

I have HeroLab, which you asked us to mention in the discussion area.

The Exchange

Thanks Hmm!

*blushes at praise from Hmm*

I'm fine with my character.

GM:
Permission to flavor the voices coming from the Great Old Ones or Groteus :p

You'll be able to flavor as you wish.

I should move to the discussion thread!

I've always wanted to be a Hula Dancer of Shelyn! Leaf armor here I come! Aloha!

Grand Lodge

Something tells me that the Aspis organization has a more deadly interpretation of hula dance than I've previously encountered... Watch out those flowers are poisonous, and the leaves of the grass skirt double as wire cutters and garrotes...

A slayer, hmmm. And one mentally deranged? Who could ask for better? I'm going to enjoy this.

Grand Lodge

When will we get more info on our characters? By email I suppose?

Dark Archive

I am working on them. Shouldn't be more than a couple of days.

The Exchange

You sure that Hula hoop wasn't a snake? :P

Grand Lodge

It´s gonna be interesting to see how the Aspis works, for example: Mission briefing, organization, etc. I have had only one fight directly against them once.

Just a Mort wrote:

It's one of those Prestige Class things. It's got 'class' in it, so I know it's good.

Dark Archive

So, that's great... everyone has touched base here... I have about half of the pregens done...

Hey! I know that url!

Tuca? It's me your little light in the darkness, Kyra! You know. The one who keeps standing in your way so you can't shoot mutant goblins. Anyhow, I swear, I'll bull rush my way out if I have too this coming round, just delay until I get around the corner please. You know us Kelish princesses. ;)

Grand Lodge

Thanks.
But shooting through through thin and thick is the fate of an archer. And I can always get my short sword.

Grand Lodge

Is the game starting September 19?

The game proper starts September 19th, but we've all started introducing ourselves in gameplay while we're waiting for the mission briefing. Feel free to join us Marnarius!
