Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Overwhelmed by the kindness of players who actually go and buy the AP for me so that I can run it for them, let's get going :)

Welcome, I just hope I can live up to the expectations and kindness!

Liberty's Edge

woohoo gladly dotted!

Megan what point buy do you want us to use?

What's your rules on starting wealth/gear/traits/etc?

Shadow Lodge

Undead masquerading as Human

Also gladly dotted.

Understanding Max hit points and wealth by class for first level. Point buy for generation, or set array? What resources are permissible to use? Core, APG, SRD? Third Party? Any splat?

Well she said starting wealth was max at first level as well as max HP.

Here are the characters I got made thus far, which do you guys want to see in game?

Thessan the Unhinged, Ratkin Alchemist (Ratkin is a 3rd party race, on the SRD
Terrick Kelstone, Half Orc Summoner with his pal Nesser
Ulrich Derringer, Former Guard in service of Lord Hallow of Taldor, now an Oracle of Battle

All were built with 20 points, and all with average starting wealth. I might be missing a trait for Terrick, and I have not selected ANY traits for Ulrich.

The backgrounds are there. Any suggestions from the group? Who would you all like to see? Megan?

Liberty's Edge

I like Terrick and Ulrich myself. But in the end its upto you Stomphoof and which ones Megan will allow.

I've seen you try and submit Terrick for other games (two I believe) so i'm inclined to think thats one of your fav's to want to play. :D

Well Terrick seems interesting as he is a very charismatic and friendly Half Orc who tries to make friends with everyone, as he had a very lonely childhood. He also wants to help remove the stigma that most people have with Half Orcs as well.

But Ulrich I just made last night (after reading what an Oracle is) and that guy also seems like fun.

I will let Megan give me her opinion :)

In terms of what I could potentially throw:

Asuna, Priest-Defender of Sarenrae - Cleric, Race is a variable on this one.
Gumz Bigtracker - Goblin Rogue
Joran, Scourge of Undeath - Human Necromancer
Shaelindriel, Priestess of Calistria - Elf Rogue
Taelin, Seeker of Shelyn - Changeling Cleric or Bard
Aelafa, The Scorned - Half-Orc Witch

I have backgrounds and builds for the ones I didn't link. I just haven't built pages for them yet. They're all on paper right now.

Party/GM choice. I'm open to playing any of the above. Backgrounds would be adjusted to fit the profile of the AP.

I have always wanted to see a Necromancer in action personally. I never see em played. I once played a Cleric who specialized in the Death domain but that is as close as I have ever gotten.

I bet Megan is reeling from the enthusiasm of us :P

I think Deevor had a necromancer he was interested in playing, too.

I could also play the Priest of Calistria as a Dhampir, come to think of it. Might be interesting.

Carrion Crown is a horror themed AP right?

I think either Terrick or Ulrich fit best.

So yea, Half Orc Summoner or Oracle of Battle?

Is there a players guide for Carrion Crown?

Shadow Lodge

Undead masquerading as Human

There is.

I'd vote for Terrick, personally. Nesser seems very fitting for a Horror campaign, especially with a Half-Orc companion who is very friendly.

I tried to make Nesser a terrifying creature, something people would be scared of, and wonder how a half orc like Terrick could consider it a puppy.

Think I pulled it off?

Liberty's Edge

The odd color and digits definitly make Nesser seem otherworldly to me!

Yes it's Horror themed. :D

Resembles a freaky monster? Check - Werewolf. Resembles extremely terrifying version of said monster? Check - Green fur, red eyes, stone-black skin. Does it have terrifying teeth and claws? Check - razor sharp, long, and white. Is actually soft and cuddly once you get to know him? Check - maybe?

I'd say so.

Should I make an Alias for Nesser? He actually has his own personality and acts generally on his own once summoned...

While he has the same alignment as Terrick he does speak and can speak in fact any language Terrick can :)

I built him game wise to be a melee powerhouse chainsaw. Hence the 3 base attacks at 1d6+3 each haha. Too bad I can't take Pounce. Only Quadrapedes can take that evolution and he is a Biped.

And yes he is cuddly and friendly, he just likes to scare people :)

EDIT - Gotta fix Nesser! Just realized with a DEX of 12 he cannot have Dodge...but HE CAN HAVE POWER ATTACK!

Mwhahahaha. Power Attack it is :D

Niska: You have seen Crow. He loves to stand at the door to say "Boo!"

Liberty's Edge

Nice. I don't think you should need a seperate alias for Nesser. In part because it might be hard to find an image for him.

But on the side I wouldn't see anything wrong with it. Though most don't for either eidolons or animal companions.

Come to think I don't think i've seen anyone do that so it might be just as interesting to see it done. :D

EDIT: I'll finish up Dillan tonight with a 20 point buy unless there is a change when I get home. I'm going to make him dedicated to finding and removing traps. Pump up Perception and Disable Trap.

I'm AFB at the moment, but look for an undead-hating ranger to be up tonight, tomorrow at the latest.

I'm running a Second Darkness with a Nature Oracle. He made one for his Wolf Companion, although he doesn't use it too much. Only when he wants to indicate something for the companion but not the Oracle.

And now I go AFK for an hour or two. I'll get a character up depending on what people want and what makes sense for the party.

Sweet. :D

So a run down thus far:

Stomphoof - caster covered
Azoun - rogue covered
Jlighter - sounds most likely the Priest, especially if the Dhampir is allowed
Corvellin - ranger covered (are you thinking melee or ranged?)

Well right now the only confirmed (unless Megan wants something else) seems to be my Half Orc Summoner, Corvellian's Undead Hating Ranger, and Azoun is making a rogue from the sound of it.

So thats:
Summoner (me)
Ranger (Corvellin)
Rogue (Azoun)

Sound about right so far for confirmed classes? That leaves 3 people left to "for sure" claim a class.

EDIT: You beat me to it Azoun! :P And I am not really an "offensive" caster if that makes sense. More about the Eidolon and what it can do, and keeping it up and buffed.

OK, just dotting in, went out for the afternoon and all hell let loose on the threads. Thanks Megan for taking it on and the rest for inviting me too. I gotta make supper then nip out again to my old gaming group for a guest appearance.

I'll let Megan choose between the eleven necromancer, (my favored choice)

Tri'duinne Braeguld:
Here is a sketched character...The rough idea behind the elven necromancer would be, Grown up a noble elf, sent to Caliphas to learn of the other races and diplomacy in the diplomatic embassy there. As a young diplomat, he lived quite a luxurious life style, met many interesting people and with his elfish good looks, the noble daughters of many in Caliphas. He became enamored with one human lady, but he looks deteriorated as her years passed, whilst the elf did not change. It was at this time he thought to cheat death and the passage of years. His beloved died from a human illness, when she was about 40 years old, he doesn't want to feel the same again. He joined the university in Caliphas to study magic, and more especially that of necromancy, a magic which would mean he will be banished from his homelands.

As a student, he joined the professor on a study trip, to a ancient burial chamber where they were attacked by undead, it was then that the elf discovered he had power over undead and commanded them to let them both leave without harm. Saving the professor's life in the process.

Alignment would be something like Lawful Neutral....he will have no qualms in bringing the unrested dead to protect him and his friends if that were required....it you are OK with that as a GM. He views this as giving the dead a similar lifespan as himself, slightly deluded but not inherently evil. If this does not fit your DM gaming style, let me know as it may effect the way I have to build the guy/girl....maybe a female elf....the sex isn't so important at the moment.

Also like to use some feats and spells in the feats are in the Pathfinder Companion, Osirion, Land of Pharaohs. If that's OK, like the feat that lets spells work on undead....obviously its gonna wait for a higher level and such...but that's the necromancer rough drawing..

The other was a tiefling fighter, which I haven't put a background together for yet in this setting...but the character is mainly designed as Quei Drathan.

** spoiler omitted **...

Deevor,

Perhaps if Megan likes the necromancer we can tie in our backgrounds?

I was thinking that during the time frame that the Professor was caring for Dillan you were also around and thus know each other way.

Or perhaps in one of the escapades with dealing with traps and locked doors with the Professor you were also there for the Undead encounter?

Or to go even more, if we can work an age angle he could be Dillans' unknown father! Perhaps the human woman was with child and told the father she lost the babe in birth and instead just abandoned him ashamed of her half-breed child?

What do you think? Just thoughts. :D

I think the Necromancer would be fine. Hopefully the last person would be a front line fighter, otherwise everyone would be relying on Nesser to be up front :P

Thankfully Nesser can be healed haha

Whew!

A 20-point buy, as already stated max hp & starting gold.

You may use any product, it's likely that I have it (a benefit of being a featured reviewer over at OBS...). I'd recommend the Open Design series of books about the various classes in the Advanced Player's Guide if you want to play one of those. Please reference anything used outwith Paizo core & the Carrion Crown Player's Guide. If it's something I don't have, I'll ask you to quote the relevant passage.

Deevor: interesting ideas. If the rest of the party are happy OOC with that - you will need to decide how much they know IC, and I'll expect you all to respect that - you may go ahead and play him. By and large, I let players do as they please, I just have fun formulating suitable reactions... for me, it's a case of, "Here is an alternate reality, go interact with it" - then as DM I deal with whatever you decide to do.

Thank you one and all for wanting to play with me :)

This is the Summoner I am wanting to play and the only books I have (And used) for him were the Core Rulebook and APG, he is pretty standard.

Would the trait Chance Savior from the Carrion Crown Guide be ok for Terrick? It fits his personality (always trying to help) and would tie him into the AP well enough.

Thoughts Megan?

As far as I can tell, this is what we're looking at:

General Arcane - Necromancer (Deevor)
Buff/Control Arcane - Summoner (Stomphoof)
Skill/Thief - Rogue (Azoun)
Melee/Ranged? - Ranger (Corvellin)
Melee/Arcane? - Magus (Radavel)
Divine/Melee Support - Cleric (jlighter)

Looks like a solid group. I need to look over the full list of summoner spells as I level up.

I gotta make sure I can find the summon monster creature stats so when I have to use that ability instead of Nesser I have it in front of me :P

Fair enough...I'll stick with the archer, but try to help out the frontline when needed. Need to get home and play around with the archetypes and options in the APG.

I'll be doing some front-line work with my character. I'll either doing a Cleric of Shelyn or a double-deity Cleric of Shelyn-Desna. I'm not sure if GM Robertson is okay with having a double-deity Cleric. I don't know of any in-game precedent, but it is used for one character in the Pathfinder Tales book Prince of Wolves. Said book had a Cleric of Desna-Pharasma, also located in Ustalav.

Create Pit 2nd Level Spell
Spiked Pit 3rd Level spell
Acid Pit 4th Level Spell
Hungry Pit 5th level spell

I am partial to Hungry and Spiked myself (and they WILL be on my spell list)!

Dark Archive

Will be rebuilding an old character of mine, called The Deceiver, a worshipper of Pharasma, who is on the trail of a disembodied, exiled demon, he inadvertently released while exploring a ruined temple to Aroden.

Suffice it to say, the demon is not to keen on returning and has made several attempts in the past to kill The Deceiver.

The Deceiver claims that he is of noble blood and often uses the alias Cordoba.

Female Changeling - Elfborn Cleric/1

Mkay. Stats are ready on Taelin, Changeling Cleric of Desna-Shelyn, pending approval by GM on the dual-deity. If that gets vetoed, I'll swap things around to straight Shelyn. Background is coming soon, but wanted to get a character post up.

Preference on Toughness vs. Selective Channel as far as feats? I currently have Toughness statted in based on the assumption that Taelin will be doing a decent amount of Melee. Also, took the On The Payroll trait. Perhaps we've met, Dillan?

Dillan:
Your Disable Device score should be 1 higher, by the way. Trapfinding gives you a flat DD bonus, not just on traps.

Now that has made me laugh out loud!

Sounds like an interesting party coming together. Got a couple of job applications to write, then I'll settle to some solid reading of the adventure - looks like you will be ready to start next week.

Now then, I sweep by at least once a day, and like players to do so also (or to let me know if they are going to be away or too busy with other things). In many groups, I've found that folks find this can be taxing at weekends when family life takes them away from the computer so I am not so strict then. Is that acceptable?

It particularly comes into play when we are in combat. My method is thus: when a brawl starts I'll call for initiatives AND for your first round actions, expecting you to make necessary die rolls (attack, damage, etc.). People who cast spells make my life easier if they at least state the save DC their targets have to make. It doesn't matter in what order you post, because I then write a summary of the round bringing all your actions and those of the opposition together. Repeat as necessary until the fight is concluded.

Combat is when play-by-post games can get bogged down, so I do each summary as soon as everyone has posted or in 24 hours even if they haven't (with a bit of leeway at weekends)... putting in a (hopefully) sensible action for anyone who has not posted. Is everyone happy with that?

This is Deevor replying, must get an avatar...

I have no problem if the character is the illegitimate child of Tri'duinne, but it would probably be from a dalliance with some lower human noble or a maid, so I doubt he would even know it happened.

Not sure how many traits we can use, but the following traits are in my mind, with his background...thinking Dilettante Elf, Chance Survivor as 2 traits, do we get 2 or 3 traits? if another then I'll look for getting knowledge(nobility) as a class skill, as it falls into his background.

Female Changeling - Elfborn Cleric/1

jlighter posting using the character name.

That sounds like a good system for running PBP combats. From what I've seen, it might help to have a back-up action. Ex: Taelin attacks Zombie 2 with her glaive then moves 20 ft. toward the crypt. If Zombie 2 isn't in reach or has already dropped, Taelin instead moves toward the crypt and attacks the nearest enemy to the crypt that she can reach with her glaive. (Relevant dice rolling)

Had an incident or two on both sides (GM and PC) when actions were pre-posted then consolidated in Initiative order, and some things didn't work out so had to be fudged. Started doing back-up actions after that.

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

That's a good suggestion - I do tend to add such things if the sort of situation you describe arises, but naturally would much prefer to have your characters do what YOU want not what I imagine that they might do!!!!

As for familial relationships, etc... What if one character is the illegitimate offspring of t'other BUT THEY DON'T KNOW? The son might be looking for his father as a side quest, or be carrying a distinctive item... :) It depends how much inter-character drama you are comfortable with.

I'm a role-player, and can quite happily sit back whilst you chatter IC between yourselves or with the NPCs, just bobbing in bits of plot when convenient! (You should see my Kingmaker party, they sit down for long campfire chats about all manner of things...)

Liberty's Edge

I'm fine with the side quest angle, but the part left to be determined then is what does he know of his father? And if we do the distinctive item (which I like; what should it be?

Taelin, thanks for noticing that totally overlooked it. Its been awhile since i've played a rogue. I'll make the change.

I am going to be the comic relief character I can see it now.

Not that I mind. I like being the oddball!

Oh and Megan: I work during the week on a PC in a Call Center. I will EASILY post once a day if not more. The weekends I can post at least once, but depending on what is going on will dictate more, so if we are in combat I can always just post what I would do action wise as needed.

TO keep things moving.

I also have a smart phone and could post from there. Believe me, I will be active haha.

Since we havent started would anyone have an issue with me changing my feat from Persuasive to Scribe Scroll?

I am realizing quickly that as a spellcaster my power is very limited (2 1st level spells a day) so Scrolls are going to be almost a necessity early on.
