Lucendar, did you mean that our equipment is all masterwork or that if we get a magic item we do not have to pay to make it masterwork and just pay the enhancement cost?

If i want a masterwork gladius(not magic) do i pay 15gp or 315gp?

Male Human(Ulfen) Barbarian/2 Per:+6 Init:+3 HP19/26(30/30) AC: 20/12/18 F:+7(+9) R:+4(+6) W:+2(+4)

This is a pretty long list but its quite comprehensive, there is the option of losing the cloak and the +1 from the armour to get a bashing shield for damage but i think i'd rather spread the wealth. I think i can afford to hit for 1d4 insted of 1d8 since we have a damage heavy party.

+1 chain shirt, cloak of resistance +1, +1 heavy steel shield, gladius, cestus, longspear, silvered light mace, comp shortbow str +2, 20 arrows, 20 blunt arrows, 5 javlins with ammentum, 1 pilum, net, bolas, pathfinder kit, dungeoneering kit, chirurgeons bag, 10 shoanti barbarian chew, 2 oils of bless weapon, 1 potion of lesser restoration.

Armour and shield are obvious choices, cloak to bulk up saves, gladius covers s/p damage, cestus is handy since you can still throw or shoot or use gladius/mace while wearing it, longspear incase i need it(set vs charges, fight from ambush, 10ft pole), mace vs dr, bow for ranged engagements or flying creatures, javlins as handy throwing weapons, pilum incase we meet a tank npc(i hate it when someone uses my trick against me), net and bolas for control, kits and bag cover all the standard gear plus some healing stuff which could be valuable, chew for extra rage, oils for incorporeal stuff, potion for stat drain or fatigue.

I've not worked out the weight yet but i will check to make sure i'm not muling. The kits/bag are from pathfinder field guide, he barbarian chew is from the adventurers armoury, both are also on the pf srd. Total price is 4000 on the head, if the party need cash from me for a wand to share i can drop some stuff.

Similar to Menas, I need a clarification about what is free vs what we have to spend money on. Do we get all the standard gear we want plus 4000 gold worth of Magic stuff, or do do we only get free masterwork items that we are enchanting?

Justified is leaning towards +1 full plate, a plus 1 weapon, and a Mighty (=3) Masterwork composite longbow. Does he count that gold as 1000+2000+0 = 3000, or 100+2000+750= 3750?

Male Human(Ulfen) Barbarian/2 Per:+6 Init:+3 HP19/26(30/30) AC: 20/12/18 F:+7(+9) R:+4(+6) W:+2(+4)

Well i'm working from home today and tomorrow, i have hours of dull market research to do, so anything you guys post to entertain me is great.

Male Human(Ulfen) Barbarian/2 Per:+6 Init:+3 HP19/26(30/30) AC: 20/12/18 F:+7(+9) R:+4(+6) W:+2(+4)

So i have done some more calculations and got rid of some gear, just got myself under a light combat load and a medium walking load. 20gp left over from my 4000gp.

+1 chain shirt, +1 heavy wooden shield, mw gladius, cestus, 3 javlins with ammentum, net, bolas, chirurgeons bag and cloak of resistance +1 are combat gear weighing a total of 58lb making a light load.

The pathfinder kit, dungeoneering kit, longspear, pilum, shortbow and arrows are all bundled together to drop before combat, they weigh in at 68lbs and take me to a medium walking load.

The chew, potions and oils have a negligable weight so i didn't factor them in. I think me picking up an efficient quiver and a handy haversack is a good plan, i'd rather get my basic ring/belt/amulet down first after the armour though.

This shouldn't be a problem since everyone but Hater will be moving at 20ft a round anyway, i doubt he will hit a medium load but you never know. The people strapping on armour might want to think about their ACP as well for stealth, i think we could be sneaking as much as fighting.

I took Knowledge/Religion on lvl. 2 so I could better "bluff/infiltrate" other Zon-Kuthon priests, but imagine my luck, that skill is used for identifying undead and their weaknesses. Nice ;-)

EDIT: Rolled only a 6 for my Knowledge check...not so nice :-(

Human Monk 2 Male HP 20/20 AC: 17/17/14 F: +5 R: +5 W: +7 Per: +9 Init:+2

Both Amulet of Mighty fists and Robe of the Monk's are way above 4.000GP, so nothing in there. A question for Lucendar - if I am to hit wraith with my bare arms (or legs) do I again invoke their ability to drain abilities on touch, or is it done on their attack only?

Or to put it differently - do I need gloves, boots and such (aside from q-staff, shurikens etc, etc...)?

EDIT - more questions: If I understand the rules correctly a weapon must be at least +1 (which costs 2.000Gp) before we could add additional qualities to it. Now adding specific qualities says +1 price/bonus - does it mean I move to next category in price (8.000GP) or just add another 2.000Gp to the price of the weapon. Or to put it differently - would it be possible to have a +1 weapon with Bane (undead) or Ghost touch qualities (each adds +1 price/bonus) for just a bit over 4.000Gp, or would it cost 8.000Gp+?

Just as another option - would it be possible to get Permanent (Greater) Magic Fang spell cast on me? Is that an option to explore or should I simply forget it?

And what do we do regarding non-detection? As rare "living" beings in there we are going to stick out like a sore thumb among undead, anyone has any ideas in there?

Okay to your questions:
1. No free special materials, like mithril, you have to pay for those
2. Any armor below Banded mail, no cost. So +1 full plate costs 1500 + 1000 = 2500
3. Menas, if you get a magic item you do not have to pay to make it masterwork and just pay the enhancement cost.
4. MW items have paid as normal so the gladius in your example is 315.
5. You only get free MW stuff that you are enchanting; the 4000 gp is for you to buy your equipment; nothing free included.
6. When you post your shopping list, please break it down by price
7. Wraith drain ability only on their attack
8. You add the bonuses to determine cost so +1 undead bane weapon = +2 weapon = 8000 gp
9. For permanency spells:
Magic fang costs 2,500 gp
Magic fang, greater costs 7,500 gp

Sure.

Potion of CLW is 50Gp, right, and it heals 1d8+1, right? While a wand would be 750gp...hmmm, wand seems more "bang for your buck", but I can not use it? I guess Kwin with UMD or Quain as ranger could use those on us? Two Wands (100 charges) seem like an OK investment for the whole party, would you agree (maybe even a bit too much?). Of course, we'd still need 1-2 potions, in case "wand-users" go down...what do you think?

Since the party has no healers, I am using this rule, which has been quite balanced in another PbP I run: all healing out of combat is maximized. In combat, you have to roll.

Justified tries on a cleverly crafted breastplate. Agile Breastplate +1 . Baron, is this available to me for the enchantment cost?

"Below" Banded mail is somewhat confusing. The Agile Breastplate is below it in armor provided but slightly above it in cost (while still being much cheaper than plate). Since full Plate is off the table from a cost point of view (just too many other things to buy). I am not sure if Justified should go light for +5 AC or Medium for +7 AC accepting the slower speed. I disagree with Menas's conclusion that most of us will be in slower armor. Kwin will not. Hat obviously will not. And the ranger might value mobility over AC, now that he is officially an archer. What does the team think? chain shirt, or breastplate for Justified?

Sure, you can have the agile breastplate for enhancement cost only.

They're from the Pathfinder Field Guide, i'll see if i can dig them up on the PFSRD.

Edit: they are not on the pfsrd for some reason, i will repost them here and make them up individually if you want me to. I just like using them since they give characters everything they need without doing loads of math.

There is also a chroniclers kit, dragonslayers kit, riding kit and spelunking kit. Just really useful for making characters up and not writing down loads of adventuring supplies.

I think they might not be because they're not open license material. If so, give me their in-game benefit/description.

Chirurgeions bag, 400gp, 4lb
This sturdy leather case straps to the waist or thigh, or can be slung over a shoulder. It consists of a leather pouch, a healers kit, a bottle of strong brandy, a potion of cure light wounds, a vial of smelling salts*, and 2 doses each of alchemists kindness*, antiplagues*, antitoxin, bloodblock*, and soothe syrup*. (items marked with * are detailed in the advanced players guide.

Dungeoneering kit, 15gp, 25lb
This bundle of essential supplies for exploring ruins and abandoned cities includes 2 candles, chalk, a hammer and 4 pitons, 50 feet of hemp rope, a hooded lantern with 5 flasks of oil, 2 sacks, 2 torches and 4 tindertwigs.

Pathfinders kit, 12gp, 22lbs
This kit consists of a backpack, a bedroll, a belt pouch, a clay mug, a dagger, 2 fishhooks, flint and steel, a sewing needle, a signal whistle, 50 feet of string, 50 feet of thread, a waterskin, a weeks worth of rations, and a whetstone. For small creatures the weight of a pathfinders kit is 7.5lbs. Leaving the bedroll and the rations at camp or on a mount reduces the weight by 12 pounds for medium creatures and 3 pounts for small creatures.

None of them are exactly broken, i think you might get a small discount for buying them in kit form but they are such good time saving kits that i love them. Everyone should know about them really, quite disappointed they are not on the PF SRD.

Thanks!

Yes, Menas. You too Kwin. Remember the obsidian wall is 40' high; you may need ropes with grappling hooks, unless you plan on sharing them.

Male Human(Ulfen) Barbarian/2 Per:+6 Init:+3 HP19/26(30/30) AC: 20/12/18 F:+7(+9) R:+4(+6) W:+2(+4)

We can all climb the one rope i guess, a grappling rope wouldn't hurt though. I'll buy a grappling hook and a bell to make an alarm with. That leaves 125 to put into the pot for the wand, i'll update my sheet later on when i've finished off this last bit of work.

I did consider a rope and grappling hook, but I saw that Menas had rope, hammer and pitons in his gear. Also, the others haven't posted their gear yet and I figured at least one of them would have rope as well. If there is a lot of wreckage around the wall, we can improvise a ladder to get over.

Sorry for the delay, I'm posting my list of gear tonight. Had a long and tough day at work. For the wands, as I said before, Quain can use them without UMD check.

If you want, instead of torches, there is a magical ioun stone that does only light for 75 GP.

I like to carry a few spare things anyway, so if you want to buy an ioun torch to use as a light source thats cool.

To be honest as an old legionaire Menas knows the value of carrying everything you need yourself, thats why he has eight weapons and a load of extra gear. If we get seperated your gonna be pretty sad you didn't pack some rope to get over the wall out! I've updated my profile with all my stuff.

I don't know how terrible it will be behind the walls, but if you can carry stuff that you need its not gonna be wasted. If worst comes to worst i'm gonna get smashed on medicinal brandy and cover myself in oil. It's hard to animate ash.

The biggest problem for the none medium armour classes is going to be encumberance, stuff weighs a lot more than you think. Rope is a killer. I'm putting some last minute thought into swapping my shortbow and arrows for more potions though, protection from evil could be useful and perhaps another lesser restoration. Not sold on hide from undead, anything that we actually want to avoid will get a will save against dc11 to ignore the potion effects, hiding from skeletons and zombies just seems a little cowardly, they can barely overcome my damage reduction!

Between doing two days work today so i can lounge around tomorrow (working from home again, yay), having workmen in fixing my floor (gotta love it when the bath floods your house) and my girlfriend being overdue to give birth its been a long ass day. So i'm going to hit the sack and get an early start tomorrow, have fun guys, i know Menas will!

Changes to gear:
Add light mace. 5 gp, 2#.
Add 50’ silk rope, grappling hook. 11 gp, 9#.
Remove morning star. 8 gp, 3#.
Remove boar spear. 5 gp, 4#.
Remove regular dagger. 2 gp, ½#.
Remove 10 sp.

That will keep him at light encumbrance, which is crucial in my eyes.

Hide from Undead is to sneak in or out. Imagine streets swarming with mindless undead. If they begin to chase us then other, more nasty undead take notice. I am thinking we all need 1, or more than 1.

Male Human(Ulfen) Barbarian/2 Per:+6 Init:+3 HP19/26(30/30) AC: 20/12/18 F:+7(+9) R:+4(+6) W:+2(+4)

Right before i go to bed i had to do some more math, remove price for cestus since i already have one, remove bolas, remove shortbow and arrows. The range on the javlins with the amentum is nearly the same as a short bow anyway and i thought having a ranged trip option might be handy but with the penelties i'm rolling a straight d20 vs cmd so its not that good.

That means i can afford 4 more level 1 potions, 2 holy water and still put in 125 for the wand fund. So i'm going to make those changes and add another lesser restoration potion and 3 cure light wounds potions. Probably more useful than the shortbow anyway.

Just considering how effective a dip would be at level 3 or 4 into ranger to pick up favoured enemy and the heal skill, not sure about that though because it would delay my aquisition of ghost rager which is just such a good ability in Lucendars game.

Edit: i agree theres no point running in all guns blazing, but i have a good stealth score and mindless undead are about as perceptive as ordinary rocks, the undead we will need to hide from have a very good chance of passing the dc11 will save so i just don't think they are worth it.

And I forgot to add a half dozen Chakram at a gold each that Justified will carry as missile weapons. He hopes to pick up a nice composite long bow at some point but that is not in his current priorities.

A question for our DM - Are Armored Kilts acceptable? One would make my armor "heavy" and add a point of AC. As far as I know the only effect to that would be that when I run, I run 3X and not 4X. Is there another effect?

Then we can only get one. And I've got about 350 GP more to play with.

Hey. Congrats in advance on becoming a father, if its your first. And congrats in general if its not. I have two kids - both gamers. :) Raising them right.

+1, I've got two, but they are still too young to game.

Thanks guys, its our first. Having a girl but so far she's too comfy to leave, was actually due last friday and she's not even dropped yet.

Lists look good, if you need 25gp more i can dump a holy water. Am i the only one that went for hobo rope insted of silk? Bloody show offs.

Guys, what I could do (and I am thinking about it) is that I could drop the Permanent spell on me, and buy a simple +1 Magic weapon instead. In that way I could easily save additional 500Gp for another Cure wand, if you want it...or maybe some other wand, like Mage armour....?

What say you?
