Gilda, you can go ahead and select your new spells, if you would like to. But you won't be able to use them till the next day.

Also, Didiana, you're going to make me tailor fights to your abilities, aren't you? Read Magic is just too op not to.

Just so we're clear, I'm also not mad about Gregor at all. I do think he's a bit too stick-in-the-mud at this point. I liked how he disapproved but didn't comment on the purse snatch. That post felt a bit more accurate to the Paladin stick-in-the-mud.

An empiricist’s ability to notice the minutiae of almost everything that happens around him allows him to make shrewd and insightful calculations about people and even inanimate objects. At 2nd level, an empiricist uses his Intelligence modifier instead of the skill’s typical ability for all Disable Device, Perception, Sense Motive, and Use Magic Device checks. He can also use his Intelligence modifier instead of Charisma on any Diplomacy checks made to gather information.

This ability replaces poison lore and poison resistance.

When Gregor starts going Bard, he will be a much bigger cheerleader than lecturer, as his Perform Oratory Inspire Courage will be in the form of calling out tactics and celebrating the group's successes. He's getting there, and just needs a little time. All the same, I will dial him back some, I don't want to upset anyone, and that is not my intention with his diatribes.

I could do inner monologues, except I don't like them at all. In a novel I get it because the reader is privy to those thoughts as an outsider. The other characters in the novel are not, so it never felt right to me. Much the same as if we were at the table, I would not express any "he thinks ..." statements.

Leveling, I am going to take another level in Ranger. He's not yet taken any steps toward Bard to make me feel warranted.

Everyone's level-up posts look good.

Also, thank you to everyone for the lively discussion related to character identity and interaction. I hope we can have similar discussions in the future (as needed) in such a cogent manner.

Finally, if you haven't already, be sure to update your quick stats with your new info now that everyone's level 2. I know it's a tiny thing, but please update your class level as well where relevant (such as in your quick stats) as I'm fairly certain it'll drive me crazy otherwise.

I do love the narrative of Gregor and Didiana bluffing that they are "arresting" us and bringing us in...

But maybe that scene has yet to come.

That would be pretty great. Perhaps the opportunity will arise in the future.

Maps | Info | Loot

A few housekeeping items:

- I added a potion of cure light wounds to Lia and Matiscio's inventories as that was what was mentioned a while back, but never implemented.

- I added a bunch of loot to the shared tab that hasn't been distributed yet. I would prefer everyone go ahead and talk about who gets what here in the discussion thread so everyone will be as equipped as possible when the next encounter happens. As a general rule, the discussion thread is a good place to discuss loot anyway.

- Unless it's a specific, story-related item, it's probably best not to waste IC posts about stuff and just decide who gets stuff in the discussion thread.

- I've marked entries in the loot list with an asterisk (*) that could use a closer inspection.

- Remember that not every item has to go to someone. You can keep it in reserve in the shared tab or sell it and split the proceeds.

As far as loot goes in general, we do need to be careful to keep track of everything. As we get more and more pages of posts, I'm afraid it'll be all too easy to lose track of what everyone found and who got what.

-----

On a completely separate note, I'm probably going to push the story forward here in the next hour or two. I realized that the way I ended my last post didn't easily allow for everyone to reply organically. I'll try to be better about that in the future.

Maps | Info | Loot

I added a quick reference list to the campaign tab. I figure as everyone meets more and more NPCs and learns about more and more groups, it'll be helpful to have a place that can give people a quick refresher on who or what someone or something is. I'll add to it as new groups and NPCs appear in the story.

Male NG Human (Chelish) Brawler 7 | HP: 67/67 | AC: 22 (16 Tch, 18 Fl) | CMB: +10, CMD: 24 (grapple 26, trip 25) | F: +7, R: +7, W: +7 | Init: +2 | Perc: +15 SM: +14 | Speed 30ft | Martial Flexibility: 6/6 | No Spellcasting | Active conditions:none

Check. I'll try and do a better job at keeping track of the loot and thus editing the loot page.

As for our possible in-game leads, here's an overview:
1) The half-elven opera singer Shensen, a devoted worshipper of Sarenrae.
2) The Rose of Kintargo, the cult of Milani in Kintargo.
-Both Shensen and the Rose have gone silent.
3) Jilia Bainilus, the (former) mayor of Kintargo. Rumored to have fled to Arcadia, but most likely is imprisoned by B-Thru.
4) The Wasp Nest underneath the coffeehouse, where a person named Nan Comerivos should be residing. However, manic inhuman laughter can be heard from down below and Laria has been too busy (or afraid?) to investigate it further and is asking us to do so.

I figured it might be helpful to have a 'tl;dr - notes, memos and leads' list that can be easily edited ;)

Maps | Info | Loot

A leads list is a great idea! I'll add your list under the campaign tab. We can add and subtract as needed going forward.

Male NG Human (Chelish) Brawler 7 | HP: 67/67 | AC: 22 (16 Tch, 18 Fl) | CMB: +10, CMD: 24 (grapple 26, trip 25) | F: +7, R: +7, W: +7 | Init: +2 | Perc: +15 SM: +14 | Speed 30ft | Martial Flexibility: 6/6 | No Spellcasting | Active conditions:none

Loot from the Livery that can use some love and attention:
1) A studded leather*
2) A gray cloak*
3) The six silver raven figurines (of wondrous power?)

Loot that can be claimed and if not used, sold:
1) MW Hand Crossbow
2) MW Silver Morningstar
3) Four scrolls (Misdirection / Pass Without Trace / Undetectable Alignment / Whispering Wind)
4) Bracers of Armor +1
5) Composite Shortbow (+1 str dmg)

Assorted stuff with a total value of:
1) 1922 gold pieces (pearls, earrings, coat buttons and whatever else was on the list)

Unused bits:
1) Juliac Signet Ring (that we want to return/have returned to Rexus)

We ought to keep the four scrolls since they offer powerful utility. The silver morningstar should either be used or carried with us in case we encounter specific enemies (we also have a silver dagger). Surely someone can use the bracers? And we can split the gold with a part going to the party reserve.

Codename: "Falcon" Male 'Human' Divine Marksman Urban Ranger 5/Bard 2 (AC: 19 [T: 13 /FF: 16] -1 if using Buckler hand; CMD 20; HP: 58/58; F+5, R+10, W+4 [+1 vs. Mind-affecting]; Init: +4 (+6 in Kintargo); Perc: +14 (+16 in Kintargo) [Low-light vision])

As for the loot, I agree with Matiscio's asessment of the scrolls and morningstar (which Gregor could both carry and use if no one else wants to).

Looking at the bracers, even our Sorcerer has armor on and can't use them, so the extra cash could be more useful.

I think I'm the only one proficient with a hand crossbow, so I can take that at least for now. If we decide it's not beneficial, we can sell it later. In-game, we should also see about doing some research into what devils are weak against so we know the silver Morningstar and dagger are more than just shiny weapons.

+1 to the bracers being sold. The Juliac Signet Ring is different than the signet ring we returned to Rexus - his signet ring was the Victocora signet ring. We can either hold onto the Juliac ring or sell it - I'm not sure if it will come in handy down the line. Maybe as part of a disguise where one of us attempts to impersonate a member of the Juliac family line?

I can't use the short bow, from either a proficiency standpoint or a strength standpoint. I think Gregor and Lia might be the only two that can use it, so it's up to them if they want it.

Agreed on the research, but I won't use the bow, as the d6+1 is not really better than my d8.

Male Tiefling (Pass for Human) Investigator (Conspirator, Empiricist) 6/Swashbuckler (Inpsired Blade) 1 | AC 21, touch 15, flat-footed 18 | HP 53/53 | Fort +5, Ref +11, Will +6 (+2 vs illusions); resist cold 5, electricity 5, fire 5 | Init +3 | Perception +13 (+15 to notice scrying); low-light vision, darkvision 120 ft | Inspiration 6/6 | Panache 4/4 | SLAs: Deathwatch At-Will |

I figured not, but you're one of the two who can, so it's up to Lia whether or not she wants to use it or we sell it.

Okay, so, over on the "shared" loot tab, we have the value of 1922 gold pieces Matiscio added up earlier from random items. Adding in the 500 gp bracers of armor, thats 2422 gp, divided by 7, gives us 346 gp exactly for each of us, plus 346 to the party fund. We could increase that number if we end up selling the gray cloak (probably not), the short bow (maybe), and the mw hand crossbow (maybe).

I might want the studded leather, actually.

I don't like getting hit.

Good on you, Matiscio. Looking at the scrolls and who can and cannot use them, should Gilda take Pass Without Trace, Didiana both Misdirection and Whispering Wind, and Evander Undetectable Alignment? Evander can't use scrolls to my knowledge (excepting UMD), but unless I've misunderstood something he can make a new formulae out of it, no?

As for the rest of the loot, there's nothing that stands out as particularly useful for myself. Replacing Di's heavy mace with the silver morningstar would be a straight upgrade, but it would do far more good in the hands of someone more melee oriented.

And Zek, watch out for burnout, man. You've been cranking out those 1500 word posts. Much as I love 'em, I'd hate to lose you to writer's fatigue.

Male NG Human (Chelish) Brawler 7 | HP: 67/67 | AC: 22 (16 Tch, 18 Fl) | CMB: +10, CMD: 24 (grapple 26, trip 25) | F: +7, R: +7, W: +7 | Init: +2 | Perc: +15 SM: +14 | Speed 30ft | Martial Flexibility: 6/6 | No Spellcasting | Active conditions:none

We'll have to have someone with spellcraft rub on up against the cloak and studded leather to determine what they are :)

Maps | Info | Loot

Thank you for the list, Matiscio. I'm loving those.

+1 on doing research IC. Always a good plan.

To be clear, it's leather armor, not studded leather, but it's possible it also has... other qualities. Also, we never definitively decided, so let's just go ahead and say that Lia keeps the cloak of resistance.

Evander should be able to add the spell to his formulae list, but it'll consume the scroll.

Also, I realize this is a bit late to be mentioning this, but if someone greatly enjoys keeping track of spreadsheets and loot, I would be happy to have that person be the primary caretaker for the spreadsheet. Everyone should still agree on who gets what, of course, but it might be good to designate one person as primarily responsible for keeping track of stuff and adding it to the shared loot tab. I know I've seen at least one excellent GM do this in the past, so it's not unprecedented.

Also, thank you, Didiana. I definitely don't want to burnout. I'm going to try to more consistently limit myself to one post a day, at least for a bit. Given everyone's schedule, it's kind of difficult to do more than that anyway if I want to make sure everyone's had a chance to post.

Also, the silver raven figurines are figurines of wondrous power. Here's the link to view more details about them.

My thanks go to DM/GM Euan/Evilan from whom I got the idea for the summary below.

KintargoCast Summary

Moonday, the 10th of Arodus, 4715 AR.

- Attended a protest of Kintargo’s new Lord-Mayor

- Managed to silence the Chelish loyalists and anarchists

- Attacked by Chelish Citizens’ Group Thugs, some Dottari, Nox, and her pet hellhound

- Flee from the protest together only to come to the aid of a man being attacked

- Rescue Rexus Victocora and confer with him at Crissali’s Fine Tomes

- Everyone agrees that Thrune must be stopped and also agree to accompany Rexus to the Fair Fortune Livery the next day

- Didiana, Gilda, and Gregor do some reconnaissance of the livery at night and Gilda hears strange music (or does she?)

Toilday, the 11th of Arodus, 4715 AR.

- Travel to the livery and meet Rexus again

- Evander and Gregor get the front doors of the livery open while Gilda and Lia distract nearby pedestrians

- Put down or cage a few feral dogs and discover a key, use the key to access the livery’s southern walkway, a hidden workroom, and the livery’s lower floor through a trap door

- More people begin to hear strange music

- A few people get barfed on while dispatching several grimple gremlins and Didiana is infected with lice

- Discover a polluted cistern with writings in Infernal on the walls

- Lia inexplicably pulls down a pillar at Didiana’s suggestion, causing the ceiling to cave in and crushing two lemure devils while Matiscio dispatches a third

- Discover a cache of Silver Raven supplies, but their examination is interrupted by shouting from above

- Narrowly escape from the Dottari, the Order of the Rack, and Gregor’s father

- Rexus leads the group to the Long Roads Coffeehouse where everyone confers with Laria

- Laria sends the group away to rest and return the next day to explore The Wasp Nest

And instead of preparing Ears of the City (still not yet cast), since she's delving into a cellar she will prepare a Cure Light Wounds.

Understandable, I hope all is well with your FIL, and that you enjoy your anniversary. I myself may be sparse next week, as I will be in a class for work and not have access to my computer to post.

I went through the loot and sorted it out to the 'new owners' of the items. Also, I sold off all but the cloak*, Raven figurines, and the Juliac ring, then split the totals.

Despite the great value of it, I think we should hold onto the ring (not a Gregor suggestion, for sure) because the ability to claim to be a member of a dead house later on down the line just might have merit or work as a decent false front.

It gives each of us 356 gp (already added to everyone's totals on the sheet), with the extra change going to shared. If any of this was done in error, let me know, and we can return to previous versions of the sheet to undo it.

Gregor wants to do some shopping the night before, but I wanted to confirm that all was okay with selling before I spent any of the money.

As in my post, I suspect the obvious use of the Ravens is to each have one.

EDIT: Also, GM, it appears you don't subscribe to the worn set of clothes is weightless premise?

Maps | Info | Loot

I hope your father-in-law gets better soon. Thank you for the heads up and Happy Anniversary!

Thank you for the heads up as well, Gregor. Hope the class goes well. I'll bot you both as needed.

The gold allotment looks accurate, 365 gp sounds about right. Thank you for sorting all that out. Considering you were the one who gave me that spreadsheet to use, I trust your math on the subject.

You should be good to shop with what you have, Gregor. You can post it in an ooc in the game play thread, if you'd like. We can just retcon it to say you did so on the previous day, since there was plenty of time to do so.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the weightlessness of a worn set of clothes. Basic shirts and pants would count as weightless, sure. But something more specific, like an explorer's outfit, would have weight since it has some practical value other than normal garments.

Male NG Human (Chelish) Brawler 7 | HP: 67/67 | AC: 22 (16 Tch, 18 Fl) | CMB: +10, CMD: 24 (grapple 26, trip 25) | F: +7, R: +7, W: +7 | Init: +2 | Perc: +15 SM: +14 | Speed 30ft | Martial Flexibility: 6/6 | No Spellcasting | Active conditions:none

Matis wants to buy some Alchemist Fire and Sunrods from an alchemist shop. Are such 'basic items' readily available? If so, here's what he'd buy:

Alchemist's Fire (x5)(100gp)(5lb)
Sunrod (x5)(10gp)(5lb)
Smokestick (x2)(40gp)(1lb)

Total: 150gp and 11 lbs

Maps | Info | Loot

Yes. Those items are perfectly fine. Just add them to your loot list and reduce your gold total accordingly. Most basic items will be easy to get, but I appreciate you running them by me first. It's always a good plan to run purchases by me first. Due to the current state of affairs in Kintargo, certain services may be more costly or rare than would normally be the case.

Codename: "Falcon" Male 'Human' Divine Marksman Urban Ranger 5/Bard 2 (AC: 19 [T: 13 /FF: 16] -1 if using Buckler hand; CMD 20; HP: 58/58; F+5, R+10, W+4 [+1 vs. Mind-affecting]; Init: +4 (+6 in Kintargo); Perc: +14 (+16 in Kintargo) [Low-light vision])

Clothes Weight:

In 3.5, the rule was that you started with a free set of clothes (under 10 gp) and it didn't weigh anything. The idea being the outfit you wear isn't heavy enough when dispersed across the body to be of significant weight. When they switched to PF, the last line of weightlessness wasn't included. The forums are mixed on the subject, and even James Jacobs has said (quoted in some of the discussions) that he ignores it in his games (HeroLabs also doesn't count it). They haven't, however, made an errata for it. So, it tends to vary from table to table about whether it gets counted for weight or not. I was just wondering what your stance was when I asked, as I noticed the weight while I was doing the loot list.

Gregor would like to Sell:

Scale Mail +25 gp
Light Steel Shield +4.5 gp

Putting him at 419 gp 1 sp 8 cp

And buy:

MW Chain Shirt -250 gp
MW Buckler -155 gp

Edit: I will take the cloak of elvenkind and give up the cloak of resistance, if that's cool.

Maps | Info | Loot

Glad your father-in-law went home. Hopefully your anniversary will be less stressful now.

I updated your loot list and gold amount per your sell and buy list.

I think you having the cloak of elvenkind will make the most sense, since you have the highest stealth modifier already, so you can be even more sneaky now. I added that to your list as well. P.S. While looking over folk's stealth mods, I saw Matiscio had it listed as a class skill, but I don't see it on the brawler's class skill list. May want to double-check that. Also "Fires'R'Us" is great. : )

On the topic of the weight/weightlessness of your starting clothes, I have a confession. I've never played 3.5. That being said, this seems like a classic example of RAW vs. RAI. We can go ahead and say they don't count toward encumbrance/load limits. Thank you for the clarification. With that in mind, there are still a few of you getting a bit high in terms of the amount of weight you're carrying, so you'll need to start thinking about what you want to sell or leave at home sometimes. At the moment, Evander and Lia need to look into that.

Also, I just want to say thank you to Matiscio, Gregor, and Evander for the loot lists they posted. Going forward, please post things you sell/buy here in the discussion thread. Doing so will let us track changes easier. I would like you to update your section of the loot spreadsheet as well, but if you're unable to for some reason (like if it's your anniversary) then at least posting a list here will make it a lot easier to update the official list for you.

Phew. The tengus are a conundrum. Should we discus what to do about them here before someone writes something that might not sit right with another PC? Or Di pops a blood vessel? Shoot me down if you don't approve, but this is something our characters would discus amongst themselves anyway, no? This way we spare a few posts of back-and-forth.

If I'm to share first: although it would leave Di with a seriously bad taste in her mouth (and maybe a few scars on her back), she could live with just letting the tengus go. Her larger problem is whether or not the Wasp Nest has already been compromised and if we can trust the tengus to leave. They have our descriptions and at the slightest hint of a reward from the government, they could spill the beans on this clandestine group of suspicious and incredibly handsome malcontents.

That would be Lia's first thought--letting them go. If we turned them in, odds are Barzillai would just have them tortured to death for his amusement--assuming he didn't decide to interrogate them first.

However, I'd also like to propose another solution. Perhaps we could see if we can bring them into the fold, as it were. Get ourselves some friends in low places, eh?

They could serve penance in accordance with the actual laws of Kintargo on our watch, as opposed to the b*!%*~~@ Thrune & his cronies pass off as 'laws'.

We can only discuss here so much, as we have to be able to account for this in gameplay.

As such, I think we can't let them go, and we shouldn't just kill them.

As for bringing them into the fold, we can do it by 'arresting' them, and them being our charges until such a time as we deem them innocent, repentant, or guilty. That way they can't run off and turn us in, but we also don't have to kill them. Sadly, they can't really pay lawful penance, as we ourselves are breaking a lot of Kintargo's laws as well as Barzillai's ridiculous new ones.

The rebellion officially begins!

Now that you’ve acquired The Wasp Nest for use and allied with Rexus and Laria, the rebellion formally begins. As such, we’ll start to use the rebellion sheet as detailed in the Hell’s Rebels Player’s Guide. Now is a good time to go review the rebellion guidelines section of the player’s guide (like now). No, seriously, go read it. Then come back and read the rest of this post.

Alright, now that everyone has (re)read the rebellion guidelines, everyone’s first task is deciding which officer role each of your characters will take on. There are conveniently six different positions – Demagogue, Partisan, Recruiter, Sentinel, Spymaster, and Strategist – so each of you will have a distinct role to play in the leadership of the Silver Ravens. Some choices may be somewhat obvious (based on the ability scores associated with certain roles), but others may be less clear cut.

The second task for everyone is determining the rebellion’s focus: loyalty, secrecy, or security. From the player’s guide (just in case you needed a refresher):

When your party gains control of the Silver Ravens, you as a group must decide on what overall tactic your Rebellion will favor. If you want your organization to focus on political clout and popularity, select Loyalty as the Rebellion focus. If you want your group to remain sneaky and subtle in its opposition of the government, select Secrecy as its focus. If you want your group to be scrappy and eager to get in fights against Thrune’s agents, select Security as its focus.

This can be something everyone decides here in the discussion thread, or you can hash it out in-character if you think there would be significant differences in what your characters would want as their focus.

For clarity’s sake, would everyone prefer that the mechanical aspects of the rebellion, i.e. upkeep phase, activity phase, event phase, be rolled for here in the discussion thread or in the gameplay thread? At the very least, if an event takes place, I’ll narrate what happens (along with everyone else, as needed) in the gameplay thread. Personally, I think it would be best to handle the mechanics of the rebellion here in the discussion thread, since this seems like the kind of thing people would hash out out-of-character in a face-to-face game. I’m open to something else, though.

A few initial notes about your starting rebellion resources. The Fushi sisters count as a unique team. As such, they don’t count against the normal limit to the number of teams you can have at one time. You also get special benefits from having Laria and Rexus be members of the rebellion. What’s more, because Didiana and Evander were successful in quelling the anarchists and Chelish loyalists, some Kintargans have already taken note of your efforts. The Silver Ravens begin with six supporters.

Laria’s work with the Bellflower Network has given her an excellent reputation among Kintargo’s downtrodden. As long as Laria remains an ally of the Silver Ravens, all Loyalty checks to take the Recruit Supporters action gain a +2 bonus.

Although Rexus was never officially a part of the Sacred Order of Archivists, he learned a fair amount about how to lie low from his mother. As long as Rexus remains an ally of the Silver Ravens, the rebellion’s Notoriety score is reduced by 1 (to a minimum score of 1) at the start of every Upkeep phase.

I’ll get the (mostly blank) rebellion sheet up under the maps, info, and loot links a little later tonight.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Okay, I've prepared for this (somewhat by running my own Hell's Rebels campaign), and used a write up made by one of my players (Thanks Odea).

The question of focus my players asked was "Can we change it?" and I couldn't find anything that said it was a changeable decision. I told them they get to change it at the start of each new book of the AP. Mainly because starting out Secrecy will be most important, but switch to loyalty in the middle and maybe to security by the end when we are big enough to field a full-blown rebellion.

Though I feel IC reasons for taking which role are relevant, the officer roles are vague enough that who holds which for IC reasons work well enough with the crunch.

Now onto who takes what role (CRUNCH version as templated by Odea):

Hell's Rebels Player's Guide wrote:
...the rebellion doesn’t need all six of these roles to be filled. You can have multiple identical officers, but note that with the exception of the Recruiter, the bonuses granted by officers don’t stack, so it’s best if each character takes on a different officer role.

Not sure which (if any) NPCs we can use in various positions nor whether we get to know what their relevant stats are. Thus: each position with the bonus provided by the character listed (if it is known).

Demagogue: The officer adds his or her CON or CHA modifier to the rebellion’s Loyalty check.
Didiana +3
Evander +1
Gilda +2
Gregor +2
Lia +2
Matiscio +2

Partisan: The officer adds his or her STR or WIS modifier to the rebellion’s Security check.
Didiana +1
Evander +0
Gilda +4
Gregor +1
Lia +0
Matiscio +3

Sentinel: The officer grants a +1 bonus to the rebellion’s two secondary Organization checks, and can aid during all Organization checks attempted to resolve one event during the Event phase. The Sentinel can add her CON or CHA modifier to a Loyalty check, her STR or WIS Modifier to a Security check, or her DEX or INT modifier to a Secrecy check made during this event’s resolution.
Didiana......Loyalty:.....+3.....Security:.....+1.....Secrecy:.....+1
Evander......Loyalty:.....+1.....Security:.....+0.....Secrecy:.....+3
Gilda........Loyalty:.....+2.....Security:.....+4.....Secrecy:.....+1
Gregor.......Loyalty:.....+2.....Security:.....+1.....Secrecy:.....+3
Lia..........Loyalty:.....+2.....Security:.....+0.....Secrecy:.....+3
Matiscio.....Loyalty:.....+2.....Security:.....+3.....Secrecy:.....+2

Spymaster: The officer adds his or her DEX or INT modifier to the rebellion’s Secrecy check.
Didiana +1
Evander +3
Gilda +1
Gregor +3
Lia +3
Matiscio +2

The next two are slightly different in their bonus, one just needs to have ANYONE so that we get a bonus action (i.e. unless someone REALLY wants to be the Strategist, we can just hand that to an NPC).

The other (recruiter) wants to have the highest "level" officer and to have as many officers as possible because it grants a stacking bonus based on level (I assume this would be Hit Dice for NPCs). Likely this will need to be filled by a player character starting around level 3 or 4 (just a guess) because we won't have super-cool NPCs with tons of HD to fill it.

Recruiter: The number of supporters recruited during the Upkeep phase on a successful Organization check is increased by the officer’s character level. This bonus stacks with that provided by other recruiters.
Didiana +2
Evander +2
Gilda +2
Gregor +2
Lia +2
Matiscio +2

Strategist: The officer grants the Silver Ravens a bonus rebellion action during the Activity phase. Any Organization check made to resolve the effects of this bonus action gain a +2 bonus on the check.
Didiana Bonus Action at +2
Evander Bonus Action at +2
Gilda Bonus Action at +2
Gregor Bonus Action at +2
Lia Bonus Action at +2
Matiscio Bonus Action at +2

TL;DR: My recommendations based purely on known numbers (i.e. unless a usable NPC has better stats):
Demagogue: Didiana (1st) +3 Loyalty
Partisan: Gilda (1st) +4 Security
Sentinel: Matiscio (1st) +2 Loy/+3 Secu/+2 Secr on ONE event; +1 to non-focused checks
Spymaster: Evander (Tied for 1st) +3 Secrecy
Recruiter: Lia +2 Supporters
Strategist: Gregor Bonus Action at +2

I was going to push for Evander to take the Spymaster role, regardless, because it makes sense in character thanks to his Conspirator archetype. He's going to get a bit mastermindy as we go along, and absolutely advocate for the Secrecy focus.

At level 3, I also get the ability to better notice scrying sensors because [singing]I always feeel like, somebody's watching me-ee[/singing]. It's literally called Watcher Sense.

Evander is just made to be a Spymaster.

Alright, I added the (mostly blank) rebellion sheet to the links list. The focus is currently set to secrecy, but that's just because it has to be set to something. It can be easily changed if the group decides on something else.

Thank you for the thorough work up, Gregor (and thank you, Odea). I'm going to go ahead and say that you can't use NPCs in officer positions. The campaign assumes only 4 PCs as a base and with six of you, you already have significant advantages. You'll still get bonuses from having certain NPCs as part of the rebellion, but they won't be able to be officers.

I am okay with you deciding to change your focus between books. It'll be a while before it's necessary, but I'll probably say that the rebellion has a week of downtime (or something similar), if you change your focus, in order to shift the Silver Ravens' focus and get all your teams on board with the new approach.

I'll run the first week's activity and event phases once we have everyone's officer positions sorted out. I like Gregor's list, but definitely want everyone to have a chance to speak for themselves.

Still swamped with life, but I'm in favor of starting book 1 with the focus at secrecy (it makes sense) and with Gilda taking the Partisan role.

No worries, Gilda. Life has a way of doing that, sometimes. Hope the move is going/went well.

For everyone: as a reminder, I would like everyone's input on doing rebellion rolls here in the discussion thread or in the gameplay thread. I'm sure I'll regret saying this again... but I would like to be consistent, so I would prefer to do them all here or all in the gameplay thread. Thoughts, suggestions, and scathing critiques appreciated!

Didiana for demagoguery? Why, I resent the implication. Nah, totally fine with filling the positions as suggested. Gotta say though, I don't think Di would be. If 'demagogue' involves being some sort of orator or rallying force, she would feel very uncomfortable. Avoiding social manipulations is a big part of why she is who she is.

Then again, being forced into that position as part of the rebellion is interesting. Expect our public image to be that of uncompromising firebrands.

Also totally cool with focusing on Secrecy, as suggested by Evander, although all three focuses have their appeal. While Di's not out to win a popularity contest, she recognizes that having the people on our side through Loyalty is hugely important. Being proactive with Security and helping the people directly appeals to her, but mostly Di's just terrified of the consequences having her identity revealed would have on her order and nearest family.

The way Di sees it, we are only ever a Divination spell followed by a dottari raid away from being goners. Considering the man's resources, Barzillai should be able to find us the minute he puts his mind to it. Keeping under his radar is the only way we stay alive. So yeah, Secrecy.

As for where to make the rebellion rolls, Zek, I imagine the consequences will bleed over into gameplay but keeping the mechanics of the rebellion contained in the discussion thread sounds reasonable. The whole system seems so abstract and meta that writing it in a narrative format would quickly become tiresome.

And credit where credits due, I think Lia also had a hand in silencing the anarchists at the protest. Neat to see the outcome of that.

Let's handle the mechanics of the rebellion in the discussion thread. It's what we do with Kingdom Building in Kingmaker games, so the same thing can be done here.

Lia did indeed have a hand in dealing with those pesky anarchists. My apologies for missing that.

Alright, we'll plan to do the mechanical rolls and other aspects here in the discussion thread unless someone makes a compelling argument otherwise. I think it probably would become tiresome to try to write it in narrative form all the time, like Di mentioned.

So, we have Evander as the Spymaster, Gilda as the Partisan, and Didiana as the Demagogue (despite protest, also, it has a nice ring to it). For what it's worth, you are quite charismatic, so you do have some degree of social eloquence, whether directly or indirectly. Now is your chance to put those unused talents to good use. : )

Just need to hear from Lia and Matiscio to confirm they're okay with the positions Gregor mentioned in his post (since I'm assuming Gregor is okay with his position).
