Maps: Segang Expedition

Once the party finishes their jokes and their religious discussion they press on. The narrow mountain path ends at the lip of a fifty-foot-wide crevasse that stretches out of sight in both directions. A pair of carved stone pillars stands at the edge of the chasm and a matching pair of pillars can be seen on the far side. The remains of corroded iron chains, set within the stone pillars, dangle limply into the crevasse. A relatively gentle slope leads to the bottom of the crevasse. The slope on the far side is much steeper, and is covered with jagged, precarious looking rocks.

Aarion uses his grappling hook and knotted rope once again and the group continues on without incident, climbing either side with ease and narrowly avoiding causing a landslide in the process! The group presses on.

In the distance you see two rock formations, shaped like a pair of thick pillars, stand prominently near a cliff’s edge. One pillar stands fifteen feet tall and the smaller stands ten feet tall. A shallow cave, just to the side of the pillars, looks as if it might provide some shelter from inclement mountain weather.

K. History or K. Local DC 15:
The rocks are names the two brothers. Legend has it that they were both men who fought injustice using only peaceful means and upon death, their bodies were turned into unyielding stone to correspond with their will during life.

There is a small cave nestled into the rock, shallow enough that you can tell it holds no surprises, but large enough to protect you from the elements if needed. Passed this point you all find the altitude difficult to move in, and the harsh nature of mountain travel becomes clear to you all.

I need two fortitude saves from everyone. DC 16 and DC 17 respectively, or you become fatigued.

It's two more hours of climbing before you finally seem to reach your destination. A large stone building lies nestled in a shallow stone cul-desac, hollowed out from the surrounding mountainside. The building shows evidence of poor maintenance—the roof is missing several tiles and the once-proud, central double doors lie in a pile of ruined timbers. The remains of a giant bell, and the wooden structure meant to support and sound it, dominate the center of the flagstone courtyard before the stone structure.

By the time they reach the top, Talon is so far beyond tired that he more or less misses the majesty of their destination.

"What ... now?" he pants miserably, "Do we ... have any way ... of recovering quickly from this thin air?"

Only the party members with the lowest Fort saves weathered the trek eh?

Ai and Narika casual stroll into the courtyard, still looking fresh despite the climb, the men however all seem about ready to collapse, having not taken well to the mountain air.

Atop a ten-foot rise of gray stone steps stands a wide paved forecourt surrounded by worn, red-painted wood pillars and faded rust-colored walls. A massive copper bell rests in the center of the area, surrounded by a mess of wooden scaffolds and a carved-smooth tree trunk, all collapsed into a pile around the carillon. The north wall features an intricate mosaic of monks walking on clouds. A pair of staircases flanks the wall, leading up to a ten-foot-high porch and three sets of wooden doors beyond. As the group ascends the stairs they hear a shrill cry and to their right a white blur comes rushing at them from it's hiding spot in one of the snowdrifts near by.

[ooc]Here's the wording on the ability (bold is mine): Gift of Will: A small portion of the mesmerist's vast mental power buttresses his ally's mind. The mesmerist can trigger this trick when the subject attempts a Will saving throw or a Sense Motive check, or is targeted by an Intimidate check to demoralize her. For a saving throw, the subject uses the mesmerist's Will saving throw bonus instead of her own. For a Sense Motive check or Intimidate check, she adds the mesmerist's Charisma bonus as a morale bonus on the check or to the DC. The mesmerist can't implant this trick on himself.

Aarion begins to feel his muscles become ridged. Out of shear necessity, he mentally fights off the paralyzing ability of the yeti.

"Aye you overgrown carpet! It was me that slayed the smaller carpet back in the hallway! Why don't you throw that stooped dummy at me!" Aarion says as he closely observes the creatures movements. With a trained eye he launches an arrow at the larger yeti.

(Move equivalent action) Study target on the yeti, (Standard action) Attack the yeti with his long bow. (Note) I am once again at work, so I can't access the map. If the yeti happens to be within melee range, Aarion will change his action.

(Attack) MW Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 20 Using PB shot, Study target, and hoping to catch it flatfooted. If the target is not within 30 foot -1 on the attack and damage. I also applied the -1 to attack and damage from being fatigued.

(Damage) MW Composite Longbow: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 6
(Damage) Sneak attack: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Talon freezes in place, once again failing to shake off the yeti's scari-osity.

"...That was terrible, Aarion. Picoperi would never approve." Ai looks the yeti in the eye. "Snow wonder you're grumpy, it being cold here and whatnot!" She levels her crossbow and pulls the trigger, sending a bolt zipping through the air into the creature's chest. "See! That's how you call on Picoperi's blessing!"

I knew I should have used the other Trick on you, Talon. Sorry...
