I'll be doing a small bit of rejiggering. Really just 1) heavy shield and cestus gives way to buckler and dan bong*, 2) shifting the Weapon Focus feat from cestus to unarmed strike (since I no longer will have a cestus), and picking up Improved Grapple.
*Every time I hear that name, I imagine it's the drug paraphernalia the guys from the movie Half Baked would use if they were playing Pathfinder.
I put the character together rather slapdash in a hurry, and didn't feel like coordinating spell selection at level 1 with someone I've yet to meet. Level 2 is a different story though :P
OTOH, we haven't really made a lot of money have we?

Not really, whats the going rate on slightly used dogslicers these days? (may have more tommorow after the meeting with the mayor)
I'm trying to decide whether I want to go for Eldritch Knight or not. Alexander's been demonstrating that wizards can do just fine in melee, but I dunno. Losing two caster levels is painful.

Go for it, just one more target for the super buffs once justin gets going.
He's started working on ant haul (that will be one of his free level up spells) and if you have liberating command he'll be up late teaching himself touch of the sea.
I haven't picked my new spells yet. I'm actually considering going arcanist as well, but with a focus on ray spells. I don't think eldritch knight is really going to work out for me.

I am alive, I think. I am now going to try to catch up with 125 posts in gameplay, and then ask if you'd like to replace me. I have been the worst player ever.

There is that. Woran is pretty darn loyal. And she knows that my brain got eaten by Cosmic Captive.
So... We get to level up. Whoo! When are our second level characters due?

0.5 One pound of tobacco
1 One pound of cinnamon
2 One pound of ginger and pepper
10 Explorer's outfit
4 One square yard of linen
5 One pound of salt
10 One square yard of silk
5 spare component pouch
1 Holy symbol of Abadar, wooden
0.3 Peasants outfit x3
10 10 durable blunt bolts
44 4 sets of stink ink spell writing supplies (use whatever oskar dipped his elbow in as a component)
5 Food for Bitey
1.5 15 days food for justin
I'll do that. Small crossbows are better but large crossbows are funnier to fire while reading directions.
.... looks like justin's keeping the skirt. No adventurers outfit, drop biteys food down to 2 gp and make it 10 days of food for the rat. Other rat. the smart. rat. The other smart rat...
I got to researching the arcanist and noticed the School Savant.
Currently I'm an Earth-school wizard which means Air is my opposed school. Would you allow me to go Earth-arcanist with Air as my (only) opposed school?
(The loss of the 1st-level exploit is annoying since it means I can't take a familiar. But I like the earth theme.)

If you take the same list of opposed spells, sure. At low levels you give up a lot of good spells to make up for the power.

It's a meaningful sacrifice but one I can live with. It's annoying that arcanists can't get the oh-so-sweet Opposition Research of course.
The high level spells you give up are very situational, but things like lightningbolt and fly are real stapels of the game. With Justin being the only other arcane caster, you will be reliant on him or things like scrolls. THat's a very meaningfull sacrifice.
