Solrisa smiles gleefully as emotions are forced upon her, her smile getting bigger and bigger as the spirit's blessing comes upon them. She knows that she has done the right thing.

Solrisa claps her hands excitedly, wondering what presents might come to her like on Winter Solstice celebration.

"Oh! What I am going to carry, Eri! Ohhh! This is very important and exciting," Solrisa cheers, willing to take her carrying duty very seriously.

In Eidi's lovely hideout, she talk a lot about what to do with the various magics and weapons.

Downcast, Mortimer clearly appears dejected. I was trying to make it easy for him. He just doesn't seem like the kind of Half Elf that would accept a relic like this so freely. Am I stuck with it? I don't even know how it works...

He looks at the Talisman, then back at the elderly Half Elf.

He's probably the only one of us who can figure out how to use it, and we need his and its help -- but I can't just force it on him...

Maybe he just doesn't want to accept the responsibility? Who can blame him? Mortimer rubs the corner of his eye.

"I know, Eidi," he states quietly at last, suppressing a sniffle. He looks at the Talisman in his hand. "... a thing like this."

He reluctantly puts it back into his backpack.

Mortimer shrugs, shaking his head slightly. Chaotic types...

Ascaria holds up the rod and suggests, "Eri, you should carry this at least. It can Heal once per day. Eidi can already cast quite a bit of healing, as can Sol, and of course myself. Mort has some potions, but he's usually in the front line anyway so I think this is best in your hands for now."

"Just remember not to look at it with a Detect Magic." he grins lopsidedly.

As the group winds down for the night, he tries to draw what he saw while passed out from the Rod. He tries to capture the shadowy 'veins' in his view with the charcoal.

Eidi, there are some wands in the group that you might like. Please take a look at the treasure sheet and let me know if you want 'em or I'll put them on the sell pile.

Mortimer takes another look at the swords. "The Lightning sword would be no problem for me, I'm quite good with short swords. I can manage the long sword, but I wonder if you wielded it, if we could still use them in tandem to create the Sonic energy."

"Think of it Sol! Maybe we could surprise evil things by banging our swords together!"

Solrisa, in the quiet of Eidi's domain, takes a moment to examine both the swords and comparing them with her own sword and thinking about how it would work with Mort.

She tries the longsword first (which is somewhat different than her own long (space) sword) and tries some cuts and parries and slashes and smashes. She likes it of course. She's always been good with the sword.

Then she tries the short sword, giggling as she accidentally begins to fly in the enclosed space, but loving the experience altogether. But the blade is *too* short for her manly hands.

She smiles wistfully, looking at both blades and then finally has an answer for Mort.

"Mort, I don't know that either of these swords are for me. I could like them, but I also like my own sword. I *could* carry the longsword for now, but not sure that I'll use it too often. It's just not right, right?" Solrisa smiles, thinking about things.

Solrisa puts the swords away when she is done looking at them. She ponders.

GM Rat, is it possible to add the transformative enchant to the longsword? Is there someone who could do that?

Mortimer watches Sol first try to get a feel for the longsword, then practice similarly with the short sword. He looks away when she starts to fly.

... What was I thinking? She's much better with those sword things than I am!

"Uh, Sol -- maybe if you could get comfortable with both at the same time, they'd work out better, er -- together. Why don't you try practicing with both together?"

He prepares to bed down for the night.

Mort Dreams:

Quote:
"Where were you hiding, you silly?" she asks, bubbling with apparent overjoy to have finally found him. "Aw - ?!" she coos,"What happened to your eye?"

Huh? He suddenly becomes aware of a heat and dull ache around his left eye. He sits up and turns to his right to see his reflection in the fishbowl. Methuselah, the bright orange carp, stares back blankly back at him as usual, only this time -- is it a hint of curiosity in the old Carassius's expression? - the fish finds the familiar eye It has stared at time after time is -- at this moment -- in an unfamiliar black and blue hue.

It swims away.

Even Thusy doesn't recognize me!

"I -- I don't know," he mutters, closing both eyes and collapsing back onto his back.

Quote:
"Well, don't you worry," she says, encouragingly. "This will have you feeling better in no time at all."

She applies a cold compress to his head, and he promptly passes out.

He startles awake, in sudden panic wondering how long he'd been out. He hears only her voice whisper though the breeze.

Quote:
Don't worry, everything will be O.K.

In the morning, Mortimer awakens suddenly, and looks around. "So, to which chamber should we head?" he asks, donning his gear.

And to make it even sweeter,” he begins as he dreams of gooey sweetbreads and crackling bacon, ”It’ll give us certain additional benefits throughout the day. So everyone up! Time for breakfast!”

He steps back and begins to conjure, eventually bringing forth a great feast, including a magnificent table, chairs, service, and food and drink! He casts Heroes' Feast (temporary hp: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7) and digs in. (Please do read the spell, it does a lot of stuff, also it's just one roll for the temp hp, not one roll per player - I think.)

When he's done casting, he gathers up his gear and climbs down the rope, ready to move onto the wall.

At the rope trick dimension, Eidi checks all the wands Ascaria shows to him "Oh, well, I guess I can give a use to the enervation and some healing wands. The halt undead, invisibility and spiritual weapon ones could also be of use if no one else is to use them"

The remaining of the day, Eidi works on Solrisa's headband. This time he crafts crimson pearls from drops of the blood river the elder had previously captured that day, and properly solidified with transmutation magic.

--------------------------------------

Eidi wakes up to Ascaria's meal "Oh great. That's a real feast Ascaria! You really know how to start the day. May I have also a leaf of bread?"

The elder later studies his spell book and prays. He ends up his preparations using a casting to reload his magical staff and casts mage's amor on himself.

After the magnificent breakfast and the daily preparations Eidi joins the group into exploring the remaining wall.

Oh, we don't have a weapon crafter in the party. It's a different feat, let alone know anyone who does (unless I'm missing something). Also, sometimes some artifacts (not sure if this is one or not) aren't open for change.

Solrisa dines heavily from the heavenly feast that Ascaria calls into being...focusing on the ham and green eggs, which she is trying for the first time.

"Ascaria, eats!" Solrisa squees with joy, radiating a happy smile for the victory feast after the victory.

"What do we do now? Now can we uhm...do what?" Solrisa looks around to see if anyone knows what happens next.

Mortimer looks back as the Elder Half Elf looks into his eyes, and brightens slightly. He then looks around perplexedly. "Who is the Senile Elder?" He looks at Eidi. "Let me know if you ever change your mind." he says, cheerfully and in total earnestness.

Mortimer observes the table's contents as it is conjured. Heavens to Iomedae! This is better than the Hungry Gar!

Unable to stop himself, Mortimer explodes with the word "Kippers!", and dives into a substantial plate of the fishy comestible Sorry, Thusy., helping himself to an unfair proportion of mashed potatoes at the same time. Suddenly becoming self-conscious of his piggish behavior, he stops eating momentarily to slow down, fold his napkin, wipe his mouth and say, "This is all, all very good, Ascaria. Thanks!" He then continues eating, sampling everything, struggling to be more civil about it.

He turns to Eidi and whispers.

Eidi:
"I was watching Sol practice swinging with the Duke's swords last night. Do you know anyone who can help her out with those swords? The longsword doesn't seem gainly enough for her, and the short sword is way off balance for the way she prefers to swing. They should both be long [Bastard/space] Swords, like BluespRae."

He stands in front of the stone wall at the top of the Falling River's waterfall.

"Someone want to try some -- magical thing again to open it, or do we brute-force it?" he asks, cracking his knuckles.

Ascaria, please note a casting of Air Walk for the morning's travel back up the Falling River. Solrisa, feel free to explore what knowledge you lack in character, please.

The party ascends the Falling River, arriving on the steps of an unexplored part of Icosiol's Tomb. The stone wall appears smooth in its crafting. With Eidi's examination, a pivot point is found, and the stone door swings inwards, allowing you passage.

This hall is watched over by six statues of Wind Duke nobles—three against each wall. The central statue to the east stands before a stone door. The statues all have cupped hands in front of them, and floating on a cushion of air above these hands are intricate carvings of strange buildings and towers. The statue before the door does not hold a carving. The air here is cold, and moves in faint whispers. A passageway to the north opens into a large room lined with red ice, sheets of which extend along the floor of this room.

Ascaria previously cast Air Walk Communal (20 minutes) on everyone. As the party made their way here, he speaks the three names, and collects the disc from the pillar, hopefully relocking the passage to Icosiol’s tomb. He buries the disc at the bottom of his pack, wrapped in cloth.

He looks down the hallway, ”This is gorgeous. Now remember, we’re blessed, so we should be able to avoid any unpleasant traps and the like. Still, it feels like the bloke to the east wants something in his hands before we open that door. DR 5/Adamantine and Immune to Magic(Defense), Fire(Vulnerability), Breath Weapon of Cold/Cold Radiation/Icy Destruction(Special Attacks), All Saves are Weak, if you ask me, but Reflex is the worst

The golems are unique creations, and immune to persuasive magics. These golems have been set to a purpose, and will obey it to the letter.

Eri:

Any spell or spell-like ability that allows for spell resistance doesn't go over with the Ice Golem, unless it has a Fire descriptor. Electrical damage Slows the Ice Golem, while Cold Damage stops a Slowing effect, and heals the Ice Golem, though minorly.

There is no real command word you can acquire, unless the creator of the golem provided one to you. In this instance, Icosiol apparently didn't create them, and they continue to patrol, though you are protected by Icosiol's Blessing.

As Ascaria approaches the Inevitable, the creature reverts back to its more 'natural' appearance, dropping its statue disguise. For the space between its pedestal and the door, the guardian bows silently to allow the group to pass by it, and through the doorway.

Beyond the closest eastern door stands another broken black portal, standing on a dark marble dais.

Down the long hall, the golems continue to pace-patrol, seemingly unaware of your presence.

Roll20 Map had been previously updated, as noted by some of you, but it's now current. One door, at the end of the hall, awaits.

She waits for the party to follow or the golems to attacks. She is sure they won't until they do.

"About the procedure -- for turning these into broadswords," Mortimer says, holding up the Lightning Sword and Aaqa. "I was hoping for something that wouldn't destroy their inherit magics -- something more cosmetic -- do you know if there is a way to do that?"

As Mortimer moves through the chamber, he quietly thanks the Guardian in Auran and "strides" on air, flying like Solrisa. He grins at her as he joins her, confident that the Shamblers will continue to not harrass them.

Eri follows along with Ascaria, continuing his scan for secret doors as he looks for magic. As he passes the living statue he, too, bows. When we are about to cross the threshold to the next room he says,

”Looks like we are protected by Icosiol’s Blessing. Also, if that fails, we should not cast spells to attack them unless they have the fire descriptor. Electrical slows them and cold fixes that and heals them.”

He then re-casts message and says, ”So we’re skipping that door?”

Eidi reflects for a moment while looking at the swords "Mmmm... I have heard a spell known as major creation being used by great forgers in order to enchant a weapon so it takes the shape of a different one. Would that work?"

Eidi adds to Eri's words "They are resistant to non-adamantine weapons and have an Icy Destruction breath. In effect they are slow so a good fireball might care of them. Anyway, lets hope the blessing protects us" and he moves into the remaining door with the others.

As the Blessed make their way through the hall, the ice golems finally recognize your presence. In response, they move to two central positions in the hall, where they come to stand still. It allows you to pass along the walls.

As you proceed, you hear a voice from behind you- the Inevitable has stepped from its pedestal, and stands framed in the southern doorway. "You are here to honor Sionsiar? It has been a long time since anyone has walked these halls, let alone anyone permitted to do so."

Linguistics DC 20:

The Inevitable is speaking in Truespeech, but it's something more complex than singular lingual detections and representations going on.

Ascaria:

The language being spoken to you by the Inevitable is Gnomic, with traces of a regional dialect that speaks to you of your much younger days.

Eidi:

The language being spoken to you by the Inevitable is Osiriani, with genuine Rahadoumi inflections.

Eri:

The language being spoken to you by the Inevitable is Common, though it is touched with the clipped wording that is unmistakable for the miner banter of Diamond Lake.

Mortimer:

The language being spoken to you by the Inevitable is Auran. You get the sense that it is spoken out of courtesy, for your having begun the conversation in said language.

Solrisa:

The language being spoken to you by the Inevitable is Elven, with definite lilts of sing-song.

As the group reaches the far door, untouched by Inevitable or Golem, the cold grows stronger and stronger. Opening the door, you find the source of the cold. This room has a low ceiling, about eight feet high, and is caked with ice. The air is strangely and powerfully cold. Where the floor should be is nothing more than a slowly churning pool of almost liquid snow and slush.

I suppose we can leave this alone as an elemental won't likely have anything we could use against the worms. Maybe we've disturbed enough dead people today." he adds lightly with a grin.

After a long look for his own curiosity, he's ready to leave and check out the chamber where the party found Allustan, and the secret door beyond...

No, it is an unspoken thought -- Eri doesn't hear this.

As Mortimer completes his silent eulogy, he follows Ascaria back out into the corridor, apparently unfazed by the cold of the Tomb. He wordlessly and patiently waits for the others to complete their own observance of the elemental weird in their own fashion before moving on.

Eidi messes up his beard struggling for a while about Solrisa's question. He finally seems to come up with something "There is only one thing that it could mean. You find nothing but the slushy pool of ice and water as detections of matter, but your magical detections do allow you to sense the power of the magic infused within the waters. It's probably something that could be Dispelled, if one wanted to dress down the spirit of an elemental weird. A snow weird, to be more specific.

Mortimer:

Errata- you have a +4 to Charisma, which in effect provides you a +2 to those Charisma-based skills/rolls.

The Outcasts finally take their leave of Sionsiar's Tomb, at the behest of the gnome, who pushes to return to the unused secret door leaving the Room of the Tempest Globe.

Through the party's resources, you manage to temporarily mute the raw power of the Globe, allowing one of some of you to access the secret door. Beyond the door lie two hallways, one that leads to the Red River, allowing one to overlook it through a recessed second secret door, while the other leads to the Waterfall, allowing a similar vantage point.

There are no other discernible stones left unturned within Icosiol's Tomb.

”Well, we’re about as rested as we can be. Let’s hurry back and see what Allustan has learned in our absence.”

Ascaria departs the tomb gladly, feeling it a bit too stuffy in there for his tastes. Fascinating topography though. He twists the tunnels and chambers around in his head to form a map. He smiles.

At the rope trick dimension, Eidi checks all the wands Ascaria shows to him ”Oh, well, I guess I can give a use to the enervation and some healing wands. The halt undead, invisibility and spiritual weapon ones could also be of use if no one else is to use them”

To be clear, the only wands still available are Enervation (10chgs), Halt Undead (20chgs), and Invisibility (15chgs) - all of which I’m assigning to you Eidi. Let me know if you’d prefer to sell one or more of them. I'm holding two wands of healing (CLW & CMW), do you want to carry one of them?

”Maybe Allustan can help us figure out what this wine is and he may be interested in these books as well.” he points out a few things on Mort’s broad back.

He thinks about the swords and ring of law. ”I dunno what to do about those. I’m loathe to sell them as it feels like it might be a little disrespectful. Maybe Allustan can trade us for them - just temporarily of course - while we hunt down the worms, and we can trade back. If not, maybe we should just carry them around for now I guess.” Ascaria’s not sure what to do with the powerful magics that aren’t quite fitting. He worries about Eri putting on that ring…

We’re doing OK on healing wands. Any other group purchases we want to consider? Happy to alter the longsword into a bastard sword for Sol out of group funds so we can keep the items.

We’ve lots to sell also, though I doubt Diamond Lake has the resources to buy any of it. Might need to head back to the city before proceeding, just to prepare, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it.

Ascaria's plan sounds good to me. I always advocate for more healing wands, however, and would get another pair of CMW & CLW.

As far as the swords go, they aren't much use to Sol as is, but if we can get transformative on the longsword, Sol would use it, but also we have other needs and expenses as well. A few days of crafting would be good (hopefully get Sol's headband and other things done).

Solrisa is glad to leave the tomb of doom and return to the House of Allustan, her good friend.

Upon returning, she will greet Allustan with a big hug and a smile.
