Blaine Stoneheart |
Blaine returns having spent his time in death waiting in the long line to meet Pharasma. It takes him a couple of seconds to adjust to his new surroundings but the familiar feel of the sword in his hand and the sound of combat is enough to bring a smile to his face.
GM Bold Strider |
Sorry about that team!
The remaining fighters flank Omrax, trying to cut him down, seeing the tide turning against them.
Musher @ Omrax-24: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Ranger @ Omrax-24: 1d20 + 9 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 4 + 2 = 17
Ranger @ Omrax-24: 1d20 + 9 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 4 + 2 = 23
Their morale has been stripped and their attacks seem half-hearted. Ephys makes a break for the sleds, casting entangle to cover her escape.

2nd: Ephys @ 12 Damage; Mushers #2 @ Uncon./#3 @ 17 Damage; Ranger #2 @ 8 Damage
3rd: Blaine @ 23 HP
Quiven Glist |
Knowing his short legs won't enable him to catch the fleeing enemy, Quiven moves to hopefully cut down the one on Omrax!
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32 for Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Confirm: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28 for Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Omrax the Bold |
"Sir Eli'thir! You got her? . "
Omrax will smite on the remaining ranger, and swings at the ranger (switching to the musher if the ranger drops).
longsword, prayer, smite, pa: 1d20 + 12 - 2 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 12 - 2 + 1 + 5 = 32 damage : 1d8 + 5 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 7 + 4 = 20

GM Bold Strider |
It takes both swings for the Ranger to drop dead on the spot.
Unless you can move faster than 40ft. movement (Longstrider) then she will outpace you.

Elithir |
Eli gives Omrax the slighest of nods.
"I am hardly a sir. I believe that title is only reserved for the knights of..."
Seeing Omrax's expression at his clarification, the half-elf cuts himself short as he quickly quaffs an extra (std action; Fly) and takes to the air, quickly moving to intercept the woman and her attempt to board a sled.
Did we get hit with an entangle? If so, here's a Reflex save to avoid it.
Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
If possible, Eli will land in between her and the sleds if she hasn't reached them yet, so that she'd be forced to provoke an AoO to continue to them. Otherwise, he'd actually land on the same sled she has chosen. He will hold the AoO if she surrenders.
"I suggest you surrender instead of flee. We will spare you if you do so."
AoO (if provoked): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19 for 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Elithir |
At best, you can get next to her with 60' fly speed. Definitely not past her or to the sleds.
Next to her is fine is for this round. Catching up and getting to the sleds is more of a next-round action I wager. You can use your best judgement on where Eli would go... it's more of an action to force her to surrender so we can figure out what's going on, rather than murder her. :)
Omrax the Bold |
"Give chase and we will finish here and rejoin when we can . "
Blaine Stoneheart |
Blaine finally grasping the scene before him dashes over to the man attacking Quivlen and fills with rage swinging his sword mightily.
Nodachi: 1d20 + 17 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 17 - 2 = 221d10 + 22 ⇒ (3) + 22 = 25
GM Bold Strider |
Blaine strikes down the last musher, the life gone from his body before his head hits the snow.
Fredrik heals Omrax back up to a healthy fighting condition.
Ephys sees the man fly next to her, but she runs the last 40' to the sled and takes off.
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
90' from where she started.

2nd: Ephys @ 12 Damage;
3rd: Blaine @ 23 HP
Blaine Stoneheart |
Blaine goes running after the escaping sled. Not sure if I can run here or what the penalties would be but his run speed is 120 if he is able to run.
Omrax the Bold |
I believe the cure was on Blaine not Omrax .
Figuring no chance at catching the woman, Omrax will call a oath smite on her as he drops his sword and draws his bow to get off one shot before she moves out of range.
assuming some line of sight from where he stands or can move laterally while drawing the bow...adjust for cover as necessary.
longbow, smite,prayer: 1d20 + 9 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 9 + 5 + 1 = 24 damage : 1d8 + 3 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 7 + 1 = 12
GM Bold Strider |
P.S. - You all would be in the entangled overgrowth. 40' radius and all.
Omrax Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14 Entangled
Blaine Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 Entangled
Merck Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 Not Entangled
DC 15 Strength or Escape Artist check to break free as a move action. Still difficult terrain. If you end your turn in the entangle, then you must make another Reflex save.
Initiative:
1st: Quiven @ 43 HP; Eli'thir @ 62 HP; Omrax @ 33 HP; Fredrik @ 32 HP; Rysam
2nd: Ephys @ 12 Damage;

Omrax the Bold |
Ah, ok. I thought the entangle was between us and her, not on us and her abandoned allies. Disregard the bow shot etc
str: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Omrax will double move out of the entangling trees.
He will also swift lay hands to cure some wounds.
hands, mercy: 3d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3) + (2) = 8
Quiven Glist |
The only thing that Quiven can do is move back to where he dropped his bow, pick it up, and try to shoot the woman. Assuming I can do that in one round,
Bow: 1d20 + 11 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 11 - 4 = 17 for Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Elithir |
Eli continues to glide after the woman, and tries a new tact at negotiating her surrender.
"It seems you have chosen to ignore our requests for surrender. We cannot allow you to run and revisit these attacks with another group..."
Eli will move 60ft while flying to get into range and then toss the bomb at her.
Bomb, ranged touch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 for 4d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 6, 3, 4) + 4 = 20
DC17 Reflex save or she catches on fire, taking 1d6 damage per round.

Blaine Stoneheart |
With no enemies in range Blaine will end his rage.
I hope Elithir is able to stop her at least. Blaine thinks to him self as he closes the distance as best he can.
GM Bold Strider |
Quiven's arrow goes wide and slams into the trunk a pine 50' away.
Eli'thir tosses an inferno bomb at Ephys.
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 Wow... Unexpected.
She let's the dogs run wild as she turns and casts a spell at Eli'thir.
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Dogs: 1d5 ⇒ 3 5 is failure
Eli'thir slams into the ground paralyzed by the spell, as Ephys is carried another 120' away off into the pine trees.
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Eli'thir spends the next round breaking free of the mental restraints holding his body in place. I assume He stands up and flies back to the group, the plants dispersing after a few more seconds.
An investigation of the bodies reveals six bronze Aspis badges and a silver badge (on Fyrth). There is also a letter on the body of Fyrth.
Bring me the head of the "ex"-Pathfinder Rysam. That location that he guards for the Decimvirate is prime real estate for my men to deploy goods and "services" from. You will be handsomely rewarded for your troubles. If you need assistance, talk to one of my men. He has inserted himself close to Rysam and can give you any details you need.
Sly
Omrax the Bold |
Omrax waits as directed as he draws his bow ready to give chase via the air...or at least get a shot.
If Elithir returns without her, he will try to control his strong impulse to give chase unless she is too far to even have a chance.
"Sir Blaine, Sir Fredrick, it is good to have you back in the fight. The Inheritor must yet have work for you here. "
Merck |
Not sure if the combat is over or not. Fredrik's next action would be to cast airwalk on Omrax but if that is not necessary he would heal insted.
It is good to be back. It was a tough choice. The priest stops for a moment, his face lost in thought before starting to nod.
But there are indeed still much work to be done here. He says smiling.
Elithir |
I'd consider using a folio/t-shirt roll on that at a table, but don't imagine that's necessary to prolong this any further via a PbP, especially since a note was found.
Eli'thir shakes off the mental hold and contemplates giving chase to the fleeing woman. He inches forward slightly, but decides that perhaps tracking her down is better for another day. He begins to wrack his brain for likely destinations in the direction she is headed, and plans to include their full details in his report to his venture captain.
Landing near Omrax, he shakes his head to indicate his pursuit failed.
"We should be thankful, however. For we have returned two of our companions to their duties."
Blaine Stoneheart |
Rysam should know about this threat. Blaine says as he catches his breath. We should also try to ferret out this man near him.
Quiven Glist |
Local: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Quiven speaks up. An infamous crime boss of Riddleport named Avery Slyeg goes by the moniker "Sly". Maybe its the same guy?

Omrax the Bold |
"Yes, Sir Fredrick...great thanks. Let us make what preparations we can here then return with our news. If only we had captured the girl. Lord Rysam, how can we help? Your return of our friends demands a debt of gratitude. My sword is yours to command."
Omrax bows low before the Priest.
GM Bold Strider |
As you show Rysam the letter, he shakes his head. That bastard from Riddleport, eh? Know who else is from those parts in my lodge? Krysher. Ten-to-one he's their inside guy. Let's get back there and see what else he has cooked up for the area. I wouldn't be surprised if there are hit squads waiting for the other warriors he sent away.
You travel back to the outpost and Krysher is working on a sled outside. He turns to see the Pathfinders coming back with Rysam.
Krysher hastily hails the party. I'm glad you are back boss! I see you patched up the Pathfinders pretty easily. Boss is the best guy we got around here for that kind of stuff.
Fredrik Greymantle |
SM: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
You are a bad liar Krysher. Its over, surrender and you will be spared. Your "friends" snitched on you to save their hides.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Bluff: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Omrax the Bold |
"Your treachery has come to an end, Krysher. Make the right choice and come clean and you will face justice. If not, the sword."
Omrax retains his stern gaze on the man.
Quiven Glist |
Quiven stands near Omrax with his most imposing-looking halfling stance.
Intimidate Aid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
GM Bold Strider |
The imposing nature of the Pathfinders and Rysam knowing glare beats Krysher's confidence into submission.
I... I... Don't kill me! Krysher begs before prostrating himself before the cleric.
Jimbo! Aloysius! Take this traitor to the barracks and manacle his hands and feet. I'll deal with him later. Rysam commands his men to lock up Krysher before moving on to examine what work has been done on his semi-destroyed outpost.
Following him, the Pathfinders are put to work helping to rebuild the structure, their magic and brawn a welcome respite. Over the next few days, Krysher lashed to a dog sled and Rysam take him alone into the woods. You see Rysam return without Krysher after another day has passed.
Let us move onto more joyous occasions, shall we? Rysam takes the party into his private lodgings and pulls out a fine bottle of Varisian whiskey. He pours a draught for each of the Pathfinders and himself. Your help is much appreciated. I have heard back from Osprey. He will be here tomorrow. If you ever need help around these parts, you will always have a friend here.
-------------------------------------------------
Osprey arrives early in the morning, no one is sure quite when he arrived. Omrax, the earliest riser of the bunch, finds Osprey looking over the bones in the commissary while eating a bowl of porridge. No one else is around.
Good work, stalwart of justice. I heard that we lost Lem to a Remorhaz on the mountainside. The Decimvirate isn't done with him, yet and we keep "precautions" for just such an emergency. Osprey never quite lets his eyes leave the bones as he looks them over.
You have done the Society a great favor and we are thankful of your service. He pulls a pouch from his waist and drops it on the table. The clatter of coin is clearly heard in the cloth sack.
Farewell, Pathfinder Omrax. I have a feeling that we will meet again. With that, Osprey puts his spoon down in the last of the porridge and ties off the bundle on bones, before standing. He bows deeply to Omrax before striding outside. The cold air lashing Omrax's face. He wild shapes into a long-winged hawk with mysterious markings about his eyes, his pack melding with his body, before taking off into the ice-blue sky.
Omrax then realizes that they are thousands of miles from the City at the Center of the World.
Chronicles will be ready by evening, I hope. ;)
Omrax the Bold |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Omrax bows in respect and watches as the hawk flies into the distance.
He takes the bag of coins to his friends and shares the experience.
He then meets with Rysam.
"Lord Rysam, our mission here has ended. We still owe you a debt of gratitude we were able to finish at all. That wyrm is still out there, so take care on the slopes. Until we meet again . "
marking this as one of my most memorable. Well played across the board. From Blaines heroic last stand, to Lem and Fredrick sacrifice. It is a pity we lost the two in the process. But at least we got them back.
