No orders, no, the imp said, fluttering about. Just looking for an update. You find anything out...you know...except for running into demons?

Okay... The imp nods and seems satisfied. Anything you want me to bring back? If not, I'm going to get out of here. I'll be back in a week or so if we don't hear from you. The creature seems relieved to be able to leave, but does stick around in case you have further comments or questions.

Moving over to Phaedra, he murmurs a prayer and circles his hands over her head, then lightly touches her shoulders.

The imp flies away and you all continue your trip. The ground becomes more and more decayed as you move and it seems like something must be corrupting the forest from the inside.

Sazu jumps in place slightly as they see the creature.

Sazu will immediately begin a bardic performance of inspire courage, as he saws his bow back and forth on his violin.

"To battle friends, though our enemy is strong let us prove we can best him."

Inspire Courage (Su): A 1st level bard can use his performance to inspire courage in his allies (including himself), bolstering them against fear and improving their combat abilities. To be affected, an ally must be able to perceive the bard’s performance. An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls. At 5th level, and every six bard levels thereafter, this bonus increases by +1, to a maximum of +4 at 17th level. Inspire courage is a mind-affecting ability. inspire courage can use audible or visual components. The bard must choose which component to use when starting his performance.

The goat-headed creature wields a halbred, but holds it down for the moment in favor of putting its head down and charging at Amideo with its substantial horns.

The human being simply snarls and runs quickly up to engage in melee with Phaedra.

"Amideo!!" Andre cries, as he sees the goat-headed creature gore his newest companion. Seizing his holy symbol, he bellows, "Face me, demon!" And suddenly grows to be twelve feet tall. The many-hundred-pounds cleric charges the demon, dropping his bow and swinging his walking stick with all his might!

Sazu will maintain his song, but nudge his elbow a little forcefully, sending a grease spell where the demon stands.

Spell DC: 15 (10 + spell level + CHA)

Grease: A grease spell covers a solid surface with a layer of slippery grease. Any creature in the area when the spell is cast must make a successful Reflex save or fall. A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can’t move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Acrobatics skill for details). Creatures that do not move on their turn do not need to make this check and are not considered flat-footed.

Amideo stabs at the demon with his lance, wincing at the deep wound caused by the demon. "Andre! Some healing at your convenience would be greatly appreciated!

The demon takes a solid blow from Andre, staggering a bit from the force of it. Amideo connects as well, able to strike the creature due to its off-balance position from charging. It does, however, appear to be more resistance to the damage it has taken than a human being would be.

Grease Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Initiative 18

The demon turns to face the large cleric now standing in front of him, shuffling 5ft carefully to get out of the Grease. It attempts to strike Andre with its rather well-crafted halberd, following up with a minor goring attack with its horns.

Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Stepping carefully around the demon, he tries to club it with his staff again as he approaches his ally. "Let's bring this thing down, then I can heal us without healing the fiend as well!"

Man, I did everything wrong in that post. Wrong BAB, wrong damage die... *shakes head at self* Current HP: 10, AC: 12. Hope I get lucky in the next round...

Well, I do have a +11 to initiative. That helps. But, though I have yet to use it, I can also exchange my initiative with my familiar if I'd like.

Sazu will switch targets, casting a second grease spell on the weapon of the man attacking Phaedra.

Spell DC: 15

Grease: The spell can also be used to create a greasy coating on an item. Material objects not in use are always affected by this spell, while an object wielded or employed by a creature requires its bearer to make a Reflex saving throw to avoid the effect. If the initial saving throw fails, the creature immediately drops the item. A saving throw must be made in each round that the creature attempts to pick up or use the greased item. A creature wearing greased armor or clothing gains a +10 circumstance bonus on Escape Artist checks and combat maneuver checks made to escape a grapple, and to their CMD to avoid being grappled.

Sorry for the delay. A convention left me with less time to post this weekend than I expected!

Phaedra is unable to connect, but Andre does strike the demon in front of him. It seems to be injured, though it is still clearly resistant to some of the damage from the blow. Ihon, however, is able to land a reasonably solid strike with his acid splash against the human who cringes in slight pain.

Grease Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Round 3

The demon once again attempts to strike the large Andre, seeing him as a bit more of a threat than Amideo at the moment. Meanwhile the human continues to try to slash at Phaedra.

Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Demon Gore: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Well, since the halberd crit was enough to down Andre, the Gore will strike at Amideo instead. The demon isn't interested in hitting someone that is unconscious!

Andre lets out a choking sound as the demon plunges its halberd into his gut and viciously yanks it out. He collapses to the ground, unconscious, shrinking back to normal size as he does so.

Amideo's face pales slightly at the sight of his injured friend. He turns to face the demon, anger washing over his face. "Damn you beast, whatever you may be, I challenge you to face me!"

I realized that I've forgotten to update my stats, which is why my attack is a bit higher. I'm at a con so I can't update them now but I should have them changed by tonight.


Grease Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

The demon is just quick enough to evade the new patch of Grease.

I don't mind having the then large Andre fall and shrink into a square non-adjacent to the demon in case someone wants to move in to heal him.

Phaedra is unable to connect with the man, but Amideo is luckier, able to finally cut down the horned demon.


And I did forget the human.

The human sees the demon fall and snarls, flying into a rage as he tries again to strike Phaedra.
