Baolus nods to Sazu but is still in doubt. "I'm not sure they'd help us... usually druids are a bunch of weird folk... I've even heard that some of them venerate that same cursed beast..." He points to the altar. "... for its 'wrath and destruction' aspect. I'd like to try to follow these fresh tracks that I found prior to looking for druids..."

Survival, aid another, favored enemy, track: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 31 If we agree to follow the tracks

"Oh...of course."

Sazu promptly stops.

"I just like to keep moving, is all. Apologies"

You all start to follow the tracks and cut through a rather dense amount of underbrush.

Everyone give me Initiative rolls as well as Perception rolls please!

When everyone has finally settled on a direction to leave in, I take up my usual place among them and head out. I have my large sword drawn, holding it point down so that I cannot stab anyone. My eyes are constantly darting to both sides of the trail.

Some Rolls:

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6

All of you see a large badger charging through the forest toward you. It is currently 50 feet in front of you.

Ihon, you also notice that there is someone over 150 feet away and moving further away. They appear to be humanoid.

Ihon looks forward at the badger racing their way. A distraction. He nods and points his walking stick in the direction of the fleeing humanoid, all but ignoring the badger.

Delay until the badger is closer.

Will wait to post action until we know initiative order.

Male N human (bonuwat) uc rogue (makeshift scrapper) 5 | HP: 43/43 | AC: 22 (14 Tch, 19 Fl) | CMB: +6*, CMD: 20* | F: +4, R: +8, W: +4 | Init: +3 | Perc: +10, SM +9 | Speed 30ft | Active conditions: none.

Baolus draws his bow quickly and prepares himself to shot at the badger but seeing Ihon's gesture, the ranger changes his aim and sends an arrow at the far humanoid figure.

Attack (longbow), range increment: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 3 - 2 = 16 +2 if the humanoid is human.
Damage (longbow): 1d8 ⇒ 8 +2 if the humanoid is human.

Round 1

The badger charges at Baolus, the first of you in line.

Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Baolus, since you are now engaged in melee, you can either change your action or 5ft step back and continue with it. Or accept the AoO I suppose.

Male N human (bonuwat) uc rogue (makeshift scrapper) 5 | HP: 43/43 | AC: 22 (14 Tch, 19 Fl) | CMB: +6*, CMD: 20* | F: +4, R: +8, W: +4 | Init: +3 | Perc: +10, SM +9 | Speed 30ft | Active conditions: none.

I'll 5ft. step back.

Baolus steps back and fires an arrow at the retreating figure. It collides with a tree, sticking out as the figure continues to move away from your group.

"The badger, a species in which..."

Sazu begins an oratory bardic performance-Naturalist. He begins recounting everything he know's about badgers in hopes that something he spouts will become of use to his fellow party members.

If it works, then everyone withing 30 ft gets a +1 bonus to attack and AC

Knowledge: Nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Bardic Performance: Naturalist:

Naturalist (Ex): An archivist who has identified a creature with a Knowledge check appropriate to its type can use performance to share strategies for defeating it with allies in combat. The archivist and any allies within 30 feet gain a +1 insight bonus to AC and on attack rolls and saving throws against exceptional*, supernatural, and spell-like abilities used by creatures of that specific kind of monster (e.g., frost giants, not all giants or all humanoids). This bonus increases by +1 at 5th level and every six levels thereafter. This language-dependent ability requires visual and audible components.

That succeeds.

Sazu, you recall that this is a Dire Badger and that it is likely to fly into a rage once injured.

Male Elf Fighter (Tactician) : 2 HP 12/18 | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | Fort+4 Ref +3 Will+0 | Initiative +6 | Perception +6

Seeing the rapidly approaching badger I get myself into a stable position, ready to receive an attack. When Ihon points else were and Baolus shoots in that direction, I head towards the badger and manage to stand in a position that grants me extra cover with my sword from its attacks. I then swing at it and then immediately fall back into my protected stance.

Falchion Attack (Combat Expertise) : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Unfortunately as I swing I step onto a tree root and slip slightly, causing my blade to thud into the earth beside the creature. Luckily I am able to quickly straighten myself again and get back into position.

Current AC : 18

Male N human (bonuwat) uc rogue (makeshift scrapper) 5 | HP: 43/43 | AC: 22 (14 Tch, 19 Fl) | CMB: +6*, CMD: 20* | F: +4, R: +8, W: +4 | Init: +3 | Perc: +10, SM +9 | Speed 30ft | Active conditions: none.

DM, just to make sure you noticed, I already included the range penalty to Baolus' attacks.

"Dire Bader to be precise. Tendency to fly into rages when damaged, careful of its teeth,..."

Sazu keeps spouting out facts and tidbits.

Everyone gets a +1 to AC and to hit

Male Elf Fighter (Tactician) : 2 HP 12/18 | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | Fort+4 Ref +3 Will+0 | Initiative +6 | Perception +6

Okay, so that makes my AC : 19. I am pretty sure that 11 still misses though.

Baolus, I did notice that. And Rona, yep, 11 still misses. But at least this boar doesn't swing like that dwarf!

Ihon waves his hand and speaks something sharply, conjuring a puddle of grease below the creature. Casting Grease, DC 17.

Ignore it, he says, as he walks around the creature and the puddle in the direction of their quarry.

Female Human Skald / 5 [HP:43 /43] / AC:17 / Saves: fort+6, reflex+3, will+4

Phaedra chooses to take Ihon's advice, ignoring the badger in favor of breaking into a run after their quarry.

"Running after the quarry? There are easier ways..." Andre says, slipping his staff into its sling and drawing his bow.

That's his whole turn, sadly. Damn you +0 BAB!

Round 2

The badger bites and claws at Rona, seeming quite angry.

Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Claw: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Claw: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

The figure in the distance keeps moving and is difficult to keep in sight. It seems to be trying to evade you and clearly is used to this terrain.

Male Gnome NG Male Gnome Bard 5 | HP 33/33 | AC 18 (12 Touch, 17 Flat-Footed) | CMB -1, CMD 18 | Fort. +2, Ref. +7, Will +3 | Init. +4 | Speed 20ft | Bardic Performance: 16/16

Sazu pulls out his violin and begins to play, adding a high speed melody to his oratory. There's no real affect to this except for maintaining the bardic performance.

I was reminded I totally forgot the Grease!

Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

The boar moves out of the Grease before making a single bite that still misses.

Andre steps wide around the badger and the area of grease, nocking an arrow as he goes. "You might know these woods, but Old Deadeye knows them better..." he mutters. Sighting between the trees and brush, he looses a shot at the fleeing figure.

Move 20' toward the runner and shoot! The range increment is 100', so hopefully he's still in range...if not, apply penalties as needed.

Attack, Longbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

The fleeing figure is more or less running from you. They are currently (in round 2) 250ft from your initial location.

Male Gnome NG Male Gnome Bard 5 | HP 33/33 | AC 18 (12 Touch, 17 Flat-Footed) | CMB -1, CMD 18 | Fort. +2, Ref. +7, Will +3 | Init. +4 | Speed 20ft | Bardic Performance: 16/16

"Quickly, Quickly!"

Sazu speeds up the tempo and also moves with the chaser's of their target.

"If you Run outright, you may catch him yet?"

Nothing but running is 4x your movement speed, right?

Male Elf Fighter (Tactician) : 2 HP 12/18 | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | Fort+4 Ref +3 Will+0 | Initiative +6 | Perception +6

Seeing the figure running away from us, I ignore the badger and follow suit by running run after it.

I have the Run feat, so I can run 5 times my base speed. So I can move 150 feet this turn, hopefully next turn or the turn after I can catch up to him/her.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Cleric of Erastil 5

Andre curses as he sees his arrow go wide (that range adds a -4 penalty) and prepares to take off after the others...though he has little hope of catching them.

If that guy's running too, Rona's probably the only one who can catch up, mechanically.

Just running is 4x base movement, yes. Also, please put your round and initiative in your posts so that we can keep track of what is going on.

Badger AoO (Rona): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

End of Round 2

The fleeing figure is now 370ft from your initial position.

Basically I will continue running, until I have caught up with her/her, or until someone shouts for me to stop.

Round : 3
Initiative : 11
Distance to target : 190 feet

Oh, people that are running after the fleeing figure are welcome to give me Perception checks.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Round 2: Initiative 18

Andre curses and breaks into a run, huffing and puffing but keeping up with the group.

Run as a full-round action!

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Male Gnome NG Male Gnome Bard 5 | HP 33/33 | AC 18 (12 Touch, 17 Flat-Footed) | CMB -1, CMD 18 | Fort. +2, Ref. +7, Will +3 | Init. +4 | Speed 20ft | Bardic Performance: 16/16

Round 2, Initiative 12

Sazu, smaller than most, still attempts to keep stride with the rest of the party and runs after them.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

Round 3

You lose sight of the fleeing figure as the trees grow more dense and your vision distance lowers. However, previously unnoticed by any of you - distracted as you are by running - two humans in crude warpaint fire longbows into Rona as he is out ahead of the rest of you.

The figures are taking cover behind some trees and Rona, they are 30 ft in front of you and one square to each side (so one square separates them) once they fire.

Initiative 20

Longbow 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7

Longbow 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Round 2: Initiative 18

"Rona! Duck! Ambush!" Andre bellows, splitting off to one side and heading toward the archer on the left. As he approaches, he draws another arrow, nocks, and fires!

Move 20' forward and diagonally to the left (or as far as possible if it's difficult terrain) and fire! Even if another creature comes between me and the target, they don't get soft cover as long as it's only one.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Male N human (bonuwat) uc rogue (makeshift scrapper) 5 | HP: 43/43 | AC: 22 (14 Tch, 19 Fl) | CMB: +6*, CMD: 20* | F: +4, R: +8, W: +4 | Init: +3 | Perc: +10, SM +9 | Speed 30ft | Active conditions: none.

As Baolus sees his companions running after the quarry he curses. "Crap! This never ends well!" He sees himself in front with only the badger in front of him, he also bolts after them, cursing at each step. Spent round 2 running.

At the sight of the new archers, Baolus grins and changes his target, moving towards them and attacking.

Is there a way for Baolus to move and attack, or charge these new enemies? If not, will he be able to move towards a place that grants him cover (like a tree) and shot with his longbow?

Round 3: Initiative 20 (after the enemy)

Ihon frowns as he runs forward and slows down to a trot and moves over to crouch behind Andre, touching him on the shoulder lightly.

Using Diviner’s Fortune (Sp): When you activate this school power, you can touch any creature as a standard action to give it an insight bonus on all of its attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws equal to 1/2 your wizard level (minimum +1) for 1 round.

Baolus, you are behind Rona so not in range of charging on this turn. You can either position yourself to charge next turn or you can find cover and shoot. Either are perfectly doable.

Andre is able to strike one of the ambushers in the arm, wounding the figure, but not dropping it.

Male N human (bonuwat) uc rogue (makeshift scrapper) 5 | HP: 43/43 | AC: 22 (14 Tch, 19 Fl) | CMB: +6*, CMD: 20* | F: +4, R: +8, W: +4 | Init: +3 | Perc: +10, SM +9 | Speed 30ft | Active conditions: none.

Figuring out that he would not be able to reach the attackers, Baolus positions himself in a way that he would be able to charge them in the next moments...

Male Elf Fighter (Tactician) : 2 HP 12/18 | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | Fort+4 Ref +3 Will+0 | Initiative +6 | Perception +6

I am assuming I took not damage from those hits, due to my Run feat? Also as the figure has disappeared into the thick brush, I shall not carry on running towards him/her.

Round : 3
Initiative : 11

I am just getting ready to run when out of nowhere a couple of arrows stream passed by face, I quickly turn to see where they came from and hear Andre yelling about an ambush. Seeing him go towards one foe, I go for the other and get into a defensive stance before bringing my blade down upon the enemy.

Falchion Attack : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Falchion Damage : 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 4) + 4 = 10

I move the 30 feet to one and attack using Combat Expertise.
