I'm still finalizing my crunch, but here's a hint:

Spoiler:
Yllondra woke up to searing heat. She was still in Osirion. A land of dust and fire, no place for a seaborne witch like her. But her fate was not her own, as the small face curled up in front of her represented. Seemingly knowing that he was being watched Ixion opened his eyes. Then he cursed in Draconic. He cursed the fates, he cursed the long-dead but only recently slain pharaoh that had brought them there, but he did not curse the unseen power that had brought them together. And in the middle of his tirade, he simply stopped. And he breathed forth the mists of the mind.

Yllondra breathed the vapors in and saw the land and the sea. It was beautiful to smell the salt and feel the breezes again. She recognized where it was from her travels as a child. Varisia. She loved the silks and the feel of the language there. As she looked, there was a dark stain on the land. Spreading out from a city onto the sea and land. It was a sign from the forces that had given her this power. A sign of something she needed to fight.

She could refuse, but each time they had sent her such a vision, dark forces were rising. They had just fought a thrice-cursed mummy based on such a vision. He was building an undead army in a pyramid buried deep beneath the dunes. Arvoth had given his life in the quest. Grumpy, brave Arvoth who wouldn't give anyone a kind word, but gave his life without thinking to save Talia.

She rose and left the tent. The others were already up, though shell-shocked by grief and the though of the horrors they had prevented. In the tales it was all celebration, though sometimes it was just enough to have survived. Talia would have been most likely to celebrate, but her eyes were red. She would likely return to Arvoth's clanhold and sing of his sacrifice. Arterian was meditating, his eldritch blade in one hand, his tome in the other. Terroc was seeing to the camp, his prayers already said to the rising sun.

She told them that she was being called away, and they understood. Sometimes after such horror, seeing the companions you faced it with only emphasized the one who wasn't there. She doubted they would travel together. Except perhaps Talia and Arterian. She wasn't sure if what they had was real, or if his blade would accept another person in his life, but she wished them well.

At the end of this they shared one last meal of dried figs and meat and then she slipped into the sky, heading North. After crossing the Inner Sea, she would follow her family's old trading route. It would be odd to follow that path without the caravan, but then it would be odd to be with them. She had changed so much since being a merchant brat, travelling the same path. Her parents were gone, but some of her cousins kept up the route. Perhaps she'd see them on the way.

Neat thing i found for item crafter ideas, get a familiar make it valet archetype. add 5 to the dc to make a magic item to add 1000 to what you can do in 1 day, leaves you with making 4000 in one day, add in a mythic crafting feat makes that 8000 in one day, have it be dwarf adding favored class bonus to how much he can make a day, 200 per level with one craft at best making 2200 more progress a day. leaving us with this

1000 base
1000 dc +5
2200 dwarf
x2 familiar
x2 mythic crafting x feat. and 1 mythic charge.

16800 worth of crafting in one day. i just thought it was neat. and all of this is assuming best case for everything. which it more then likely wont be.

staff of power 235000 gold / by 16800= 13.9 so lets just say 14 days to make it. sorry this was just fun to do.

You could take another archtype than sacred servant. You could then use divine bond for one weapon and the automatic progression for the other. The archtype also gives up some uses of smite evil. More smites means more times you'll be better at hitting. The archtype seems better for someone with a heavier caster focus while your character is all martial.

You have put a lot of points into wisdom and intelligence. Moving points around would free up more to go into dex. Your character benefits a lot more from dex and cha than any other stat. Of course if you want to play a character that is smart and wise that's fine, but he will be worse at fighting. I can't figure out what stat array you started with. 10 str 14 dex 15 con 14 wis 15 cha with human bonuses in dex and cha then levelups in con and cha gives your stats, but that leaves one point left over(should you have 11 str?). I would start with something like 10 str 16 dex 15 con 10 int 10 wis 17 cha which turns into 10 str 20 dex 16 con 10 int 10 wis 24 cha after applying the same ability boosts. That would give you +1 to hit or +2 with smite.

What feats have you picked? Kind of hard to give suggestions without knowing that. You can of course pick weapon focus. I don't think you qualify for moonlit stalker and that would be hard to trigger anyway.

Gonna maybe submit another character I am not feeling this combo as much as I'd like so Fighter(weapon master)/Cleric(crusader)

How does the Unchained Summoner interact with the Synthesist Archtype? Or would you rather simply avoid that can of worms?

But if I cant finish him i will go with Ziera

Everybody is welcome to make whatever changes they want to their character (including scrapping it and starting over) right up until the deadline on Sunday.

Joe- the best way to up your attack bonus and damage would be to spend your feats.

Ziera- as I said above feel free to do something different. If, however, you're interested in trying to tweak this build one option to consider would be making the glaive your primary weapon... with crusader's flurry you can flurry with it, add combat reflexes for lots of AoOs and you'd be a solid combatant. unchained monk would probably pair well with cleric

Peter- Abbo already asked that same question (via PM)... I've had a busy day but as soon as I have a chance to look it over I'll let you both know.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Peter and Abbo- I don't see anything that would prohibit you from taking synthesist with the unchained summoner. Remember though that I'm going for a heroic feel, so if you're merging with a demon or a writhing mass of tentacles you're going to need a really outstanding fluff to explain it.

Thanks Nate. Actually, I'm using the Psychopomp as my base and inspiration, as explained in my story. You'll notice not only the Eidolon "makes sense" (without all the natural attacks etc.), but also my own summoner isn't like a "dump-all-physicals-get-all-mentals" build from the "standard optimized" synthesist. I'm a fighter by myself, even without the fused Eidolon, with all balanced and respectful stats. I added already background and a summary version of it, plus inspiration pictures, role in party, appearance and behavior etc. I hope you like it. Feel free to send me any feedback, my friend... And then again, thanks for the patience and help. I'm excited with the prospect of this game.

I apologize, I read through your posts on the thread, but wasn't paying as close of attention to the posts of others in my initial glance.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

I have no objections to two people pitching very similar characters if you want to do that Peter. It's very unlikely that you would both be picked, but the harsh reality is that with only 4 spots everyone who gets picked means a handful of people who don't.

I like the feat and I will tweak it but keeping it a normal monk

Changed and Yeah she will be deadly with her Glaive called Beautiful Dreamer

This may be a reach (in fact, I suspect it is) but I thought I'd ask.

Any chance you'd let the Spirit Summoner archtype work with the synthesist archtype, simply overwriting the synthesist versions of marker's call, transposition, and merge forms?

Peter- sorry, no.

Her parents were gone, but some of her cousins kept up the route. Perhaps she'd see them on the way.

Description:

Yllondra, Ylly to those close to her, is a very tall halfling woman. She's nearly four feet and slender for her kind. Her features seem almost elven, less round than most halflings. Flowing silks are her normal dress, comfortable and loose. They seem to always be billowing in the wind, even indoors. She carries no weapons, but does have a tiny faerie dragon with iridescent scales riding on her shoulder most of the time. This is Ixion, her familiar and friend.

Personality and Roles:

Ylly is very changeable, like the weather. She is like a different person depending on your relationship to her. To most casual acquaintances she's reserved and distant. To those who she trusts, she's open and emotional. Once you have crossed her she is a force of nature, deeply vengeful. She's faced loss before and she keeps people away at first. But she does feel deeply and takes them in once she gets to know them. Likewise, she moderates her temper until she feels that the offenders have crossed the line. At that point, she unleashes on them.

Ixion is clever and friendly. He plays at having the normal draconic ego, though he does get upset when people truly disrespect him. His curiosity is in some ways his greatest weakness.

In a part, her main roles are debuffing enemies and blasting. Her actual spells are more for utility, with divination as a minor specialty. Backup roles include social skills, healing and stealth. She is very mobile, being adept both in the air and water.

@Philo- I didn't spend much time trying to piece it together but at a glance it looks like your stats might be slightly off...

@Potential Lurkers- I've heard from a couple people who had some interest but were having trouble coming up with a concept (or felt overwhelmed trying to come up with a class combination), so here's a couple ideas that might be interesting to someone, or spark a different idea for someone (and, I believe, not step on the toes of anyone who's already submitted):
- a fighter[lore warden]/bard[archivist] would be a strong combatant and cover a lot of knowledges, plus offer support and some healing through performance and spells.
- a magus[kensai]/wizard or arcanist would be a formidable arcane caster and a decent melee combatant; with broad study and close range you can deliver disintegrates via your weapon (potentially expanding your crit range on it to 15-20)
- a wizard/wildblooded sorcerer [sage] would be sort of the ultimate archmage, with magic in his blood and a mind for unraveling arcane secrets. This build has some obvious blind spots (BAB, hp, fort/ref...) but if you're interested in specializing in something it could be fun.
- a cleric/wildblooded sorcerer [empyreal] would be a wise and perhaps better rounded caster with a strong celestial connection.
- an oracle[warsighted]/magus[eldritch scion] sounds like an odd combo but it would kind of replicate a red Mage (from the original final fantasy) with a wide variety of arcane and divine spells and decent combat ability.

There's tons of other cool concepts that haven't been tried yet, but hopefully this might spark something for someone...

I'll check it when I get my home computer up and post the breakdown.

Hi DM Nate, I'm thinking about a Cleric of Sheylin / Bard, devoted to Love in all of its forms. He'd be a support/buff oriented Marshall.

Looking at domains, Protection seems like a natural choice for one of my domains...but as I understand it, both of its abilities would be invalidated by Automatic Bonus Progression (since we all automatically get a resistance/deflection bonus equal to the ones granted by this domain).

Does that mean I should stay away from this domain? Or would you modify it in some way to work with ABP (e.g. changing the bonuses to sacred, or untyped, or ruling that they stack with other resistance/deflection bonuses)?

Thanks!

Hmm. Would champion of Irori be allowed? If yes, I'd probably be taking it on the monk side...

You can completely avoid reliance on strength or dexterity, if you work a little bit at it. Not even dipping oracle, either.

Currently thinking Velnerable Human Hospitalier Paladin 11//Unchained Monk 5/Champion of Irori 6. Statline (after racial and age, but before levels) is 7, 8, 10, 13, 20, 19. Could do the same thing with 3 points left over if I didn't use age categories, so it's not like I'm abusing it exactly.

Hey i think im going to drop out of this game, some issues came up and they're gonna take a lot of time. Hope you guys have fun!

Question: Can a character with ready and frequent acess to Fly, be able to take flyby attack?

Secondly: For a primarily support alchemist (Focused more on magic and passing out buffs) wizard, what feats would you recomend? I'm kinda drawing a blank- Both for feats, and Discoveries.

I do find myself a bit...uncertain about that first Mythic Feat. I definitely do want Dual-Path, but if we will get to about tier 5, thats 5 path abilities and 3 feats, and so much tasty stuff to choose from.

I would like to state ahead of time that if I am picked and we're covering plenty of mythic paths in the group, I may decide to pick up dual path a bit later and replace it with another mythic feat.

Just stating that so it doesn't come across as a "bait&switch" later. I am fully willing to keep both paths. But if there's duplicate paths, I may settle for either and pick up the other later, if thats an ok amount of "finetuning" for the GM.

I hope we make it to Tier 6, if only for Enduring Elixir.

Rynjin wrote:

I don't really care if we make it to tier 6. By the time we reach tier 6, the mythic ability I really want (Sanctum) will probably not be useful. Which makes me sad.

Also, damnit- Setting it up so that my character actually has a traveling house is incredibly annoying- I'm having difficulty buying something big enough.

If only I had enough money for an airship... Ah dreams.

As it is, and I understand if this worries you, but may I request a larger vehicle? Basically double the cost of the vehicle to get double the area- Wagon, Heavy, costing 100 gold, add another deck for 200? Follow that up with making it magically propelled, so, let's say, 500 dollars for a 10x20x15 sized, magically propelled, for 500 gp? I want a little house for my character, so that would be nice.

Also, roleplay sample for Turion.(of course, also in profile)

I think he is mostly done now, except for the backstory(I do already have it laid out, but need to finalize it). I would appreciate if you could look him over and tell me if something needs changing or everything seems in order.

Roleplay sample:

The elven man seemed slightly out of place. It was too crowded for his taste, and he uneasily paced back and forth near the well, watching the festival crowds, waiting. One could tell this was not his regular habitat. His open blonde hair could have fit anywhere. The sturdy boots and the cloak weren't made for cities, though.
Moreover, the bow he had slung over his shoulder, and the backpack clearly marked him as one of the many who had come to Sandpoint during the festival, rather than a local. After some time of pacing around the well, a human woman approached the elf:"You seem restless. Looking for someone?"
At first, the elf seemed startled, then focused on the woman who spoke:"I am, indeed. Are you Yuki Kaijitsu?"
The beautiful girl reached out to touch his face and smiled at him:"I am whoever you pay me to be, darling. There's a room in that house right over there, where you can relax a bit..."
Realizing what kind of woman she was, and not interested(nor having time), Turion took a step back from her to get some distance between them, pushing into a man who had stood there and fell down from the sudden impact. After getting up, the man quickly narrowed down the possible culprits to a small girl or a tall elf and pointed at Turion"You long-eared idiots, I thought you had such good vision, but you can't see where you're going, can you? Or is it that I'm simply not important enough to take note of me?..." The man kept cursing and seemed unlikely to stop.
Turion, unsure how to react, tried to calm the man down:"I am sorry, Mister, I was just waiting here for someone, and then this woman..."
Rather sudden, as fast as anger had flared up in the man, he seemed to calm down:"Whatever, no harm done, I have to apologize for getting so angry so quickly. My wife tells me one day, it will be the death of me. Mentioning her, she's waiting for me, so I best hurry. Good day to you, Sir", and disappeared into the crowds.

Turion kept waiting, without luck. His contact would probably not show up, it seemed. Whatever may have happened to prevent her from coming? After waiting a bit longer, he decided to walk a tour of the festival, to find a bite to eat and some drink, then check at the well one last time before finding a place for the night and contemplating what to do next.
At the first stand, hoping to buy some fruits to eat, Turion suddenly realized what that had been all about earlier...his purse was gone. He knew such festivals always had their cutpurses, con-artists and thieves, and had kept a close watch on the woman and the man...but trying to remember, there was a little girl playing near the well...she casually touched him when he run into the man, then disappeared. What a rookie mistake..."That will be 5 silver, sir!", the merchant running the stall demanded. Turion looked at him, then at the apple he had already bitten into, then back at the Merchant.
"Sir, it would appear that my purse has gone missing, so I-" - "I don't care much for missing purses, but you eat it, you pay it. Or I can call over a guard, if you'd prefer to tell him your story!"

Now, there's a problem...
Some nearby bystanders started forming a small crowd, curious what would happen next...

Two notes:
First: I picked the name from a character I made for a Jade Regent AP who never got off the ground. I know it's Sandpoint too, but in case certain characters are relevant in both AP's, obviously any other name can be substituted, I just found it amusing.
Second: Ending intended as a possible "hook" for other people to intervene and get to have a talk(plus initial friendly disposition).

And one more question:
Trap Spotter rogue talent...use it or not?
Technically, in pbp, I could just always remember to state that I specifically check everything, and it would only come up in corner cases such as running into traps during a battle.

Basically I know some GM's handwaive it and assume that the dedicated trap-handler is checking for traps in all situations where it's reasonable to do so(if only to prevent "I'm checking for traps" being every second sentence coming from that player), other GM's demand the "Trap Spotter" tax to include automatic sweeping-

Hey- More questions about pre-game crafting-

Let's just say my character can boost up her Craft check to fairly high levels- Let's say, oh... She can make DC 26 craft checks by taking 10, but without putting a rank in a craft skill...

May she use that skill to craft a home base? And traps to protect her home base, paying 1/3rd the cost?

Well, you can use Craft skills untrained, so I don't see why you can't use it. I think you have to be trained to take 10/20, though I'm not completely sure.

@gryfalcon- welcome. good question... The easy solution is to pick another domain. If you (or anyone else) would like to take the protection domain we'll make the default ability a straight +1 increase to your resistance bonus, and replace the 1st and 8th level powers with those of the solitude and purity sub-domains (but keeping the domains normal spell list).

@dragon- I'm afraid I'm going to have to rule out Champion of Irori on the grounds that it is essentially one of the PrCs that already combining two classes. Perhaps there's something similar you could accomplish with the enlightened paladin archetype? Also, we're not going to use age modifiers at character creation, so calculate your stats normally (note, however, that I set the minimum at 8 unless you have a racial penalty).

@ashmael- im sorry to hear that. I hope your situation turns around quickly (and if it happens to improve so quickly that you want to be considered after all, just let me know).

@vagabond- first: if it's just the spell probably not... If you took the wings discovery (or the aasimar feat or something like that) it would probably be fine. Second: if you want to do buffing/support, check out the brown fur transmuter (arcanist archetype) it's probably the best buffer in the game. For discoveries, infusion is probably most important because it lets you share your extracts with others. For feats, things like extend and reach meta magic feats are great for buffing. 3- an actual moving house would be waaaay more than 500 gold, and not very practical... Perhaps you could accomplish what you're going for via some combo of bags of holding and rope trick (or some other) spells? 4- no. As I said before, ranks in a crafting skill will get you some free gold to represent having crafted stuff in the past but nobody gets to buy stuff at the crafting cost.

@Mordred- dropping (or adding) dual path after selection is completed is within the acceptable range of fine tuning, yes. Also, I'd definitely prefer trapspotting be taken- not as a tax or anything like that but because of the difference it makes in in-game time... searching takes a round for each 5' square so if you stop to do each one you're moving through the dungeon at a speed of 5 (and burning through any buffs well before you can get back into combat).

@Philo- I didn't spend much time trying to piece it together but at a glance it looks like your stats might be slightly off...

You are right, I was 2 over. I'll take my Charisma down to 12. Do you want the full statblock again?

ok got an alias, and a back story.

the interaction is something that I used a long time ago for this character. I hope it works out.

please tell me if you want something else so I can get it together.

thanks. As said, I have Trap spotter in my build anyway, I just thought I'll ask ;)

Hey everyone, just a reminder that
Recruitment Closes at midnight GMT on Sunday;
36 hours from right now

so if you're still working on a submission make sure to let me know (and try to be done by then). Also, I'm using Tanner's list to start going over things so if you're not on it and should be please say so.

@Tanner- I think I've spotted one so far that got missed: Alexander Torov

Sample:
Zeira walked the grounds of the festival enjoying the spectacles and the sights. She always did love a good festival. So here she was eating one of the many vendor foods savoring it for the gluttonous taste it brought to her taste buds when she saw a small group forming about something.

Curious the maiden walked over to gaze upon exactly what the crowd had formed about and saw it a man, apparently blind who sat playing a simple lute and his voice lifting into the heavenly tones of the celestial tongue. The performance was eerily beautiful a form of haunting tones that enraptured the audience.

After about ten minutes his set was over. The crowd departed along side a serious amount of coin the old man seemingly sprang from his cross legged position and slid his lute on his back.he pulled out a slender stick and began to tap the ground, when he struck a coin he picked it up.

Zeira began to walk up to the man and he spoke."Hello young lass, come to ask for me to teach you? Or maybe something more adult perhaps?"He said as he turned to look at her, despite his obvious lack of sight. Zeira only smiled and fought back the urge to hold out her hand for greeting.

"Actually Sir I was gonna thank you for the beautiful performance and the fact that I am grateful for such songs to be heard. As for the teaching me a song yes I would love that, In fact i can use it to better praise and spread the word of Shelyn. The second one seems a bit too..well I don't want to have such a man like you throw a hip!" she says with a laugh as she helps pick up the coins.

"True, I am not the man I used to be, but i shall teach you as we walk. It is not a hard song to sing, but unless you know the magic of music you can not sway the crowd as I." he paused, turned and held out his hand to her.

"Names Suelestran Green Bard extraordinaire, and to whom do I have the pleasure of teaching today?" The old man asked as Zeira shook his weathered hand. She could tell this man had played alot for his fingers told the tale of a man who had played a variety of venues, and his voice sang with experience she would love to know.

"Lady Zeira Wyvernrose, Sacred Fist to the Lady of Song. Glad to have met Suelestran Green" She said as she and the man finished shaking hands. after that the pair walked through the street singing the chords as they went. it would be a good day.

I'm super-psyched!! This is my nomination for Epic Rise of the Runelord trailer music!

In the interest of my own mental health, I'll just assume everything is in order if nothing was called out :)

Really excited too.
